Kidney Stones :: Constipation And Bloating
May 26, 2015
I was in an automobile accident the 1st of april and was healing nicely until stomach pain became unbearable. I went to multiple hospitals, had enemas performed, painful exams...only for a doctor to finally order a CT scan and xrays to discovery my intestines are extremely bloated and slowed to nothing as well as a kidney stone having developed....my question is I'm currently drinking mineral oil to combat half the problem, but I was previously told to take dulcolax suppositories and am not sure if I should combine them with the mineral oil?

I am 22 years old and for about the past 6 months Ive been getting REALLY bloated/constipated the week before my and during my period and it just keeps getting worse and worse as the months go on. I have not had a bowel movement for a week now. My stomach is twice the size it normally is and I weigh seven more pounds than normal. It is so uncomfortable and it has gotten to the point where I am scared to eat or drink anything else because I just do not think it will fit in my stomach; I think I might literally throw up if I try. My stomach feels like it is going to explode
I've tried taking a laxative in the past but that didn't help much (possibly because I only took one does of it?) and yesterday I tried taking a diuretic. The diuretic also did not help. I've been eating fiber one cereal for the past 2 weeks because I though that may prevent it but it did not.
Has this happened to anyone else before? Does anyone have any suggestions about what to do for a long term fix? I was thinking maybe try eating activia or taking Metamucil?

Me and my partner have had unprotected sex since we have been together, however this isn't a problem (so I Thought) because I have the implant and so far had it for 2 years .. I've never had a problem before but recently I haven't come on my period for two months, which I know is a side effect of the implant but i've always been regular with it anyway Hoyt I've been experiencing bloating, constipation, headaches, nausea gas sand and shortness of breathe, all of which I'm told are signs of pregnancy.
I did a wilkos own pregnancy test and it showed to be negative so why am I experiencing all these problems? Would it be best to try another one?
I've talked to my doctor and he believes there is no way of me being pregnant because of the implant however I've heard of people who have been pregnant while having it.
Im very confused and wondering if anyone could help? I'm also having my implant taken out on Monday!! Very undecided whether I wasn't that done now or not...... I don't have other signs like darker areolas or tender breasts however have had pains as though I was about to come on my period but I haven't and that was two days ago!

I am a 20 year old female who has been losing weight these past two months with the help of a South African weight loss company which specializes in healthy eating and life changes.
For the past two weeks the scale's numbers have increased rapidly without me changing any of my eating habits. I thought that my period might be the culprit, but the weight gain has persisted and my period is almost a month late.
During the past eight days I have experienced severe bloating (my stomach is three times as large as normal), excess gas, constipation, dull and aching abdominal pain and swelling around my vulva and vaginal entrance.
I am experiencing fatigue and my shoulders as well as legs feel stiff and painful. I drank something to help with the constipation but barely anything happened except for the fact that my body secreted a lot of mucus.
I went to the clinic to test my urine (I have a history of bad bladder infections - Was treated for it earlier this year). The test came back clean except for having high levels of protein in my urine. I do experience a burning sensation when I need to urinate.
I am currently trying to get a medical aid but it won't be activated before the first half of next month. I haven't had any other examinations done professionally except for blood tests 3 years ago. These showed that I have high levels of iron, was insulin resistant and that a few cysts were detected on my ovaries.
I would like to know what may be wrong with me and if there is anything I can do to relieve my symptoms until my medical aid can be used.

I've posted on here about my now-frequent bouts of constipation. Have relied on Stool Softeners which have done the trick. I eat veg, not keen on fruit and can't stand fruit juice, Have upped my water intake: good results. But I don't want to take these for long periods.
Well for some reason I was remembering my dear ol' mum and her issues around constipation. I believe she, myself and one sister had this tendency: the rest seem to go as often as a racing Greyhound!!
Well, I remember my mum each morning making up a small concoction of Epsom Salts, mixed to a paste with water then washed down with a cup of tea. Within half hour she was flying past us to the loo!
When I was feeling completely bunged up, I did wonder if this might work for me. But I have to say, as great as she was, my mum had some funny ideas about medicines etc, so wondered if this was just one of her many 'alternative' ideas she'd come up with herself! She would have been 95 now, and died (not from constipation!!) at 81, so she had a good innings.
Well, that funny lil ol' girl was doing something right for once! I read a really good article about Epsom Salts and their health benefits. The article name-dropped Gwyneth Paltrow and Victoria Beckham soaking in E'salt baths to reduce bloating (what? on them two - who they kidding?!). But more importantly it went on to mention soaking in a bath with the salts to help aching joints......

Im 22 and have suffered from severe constipation since puberty. I've been to doctors and tried metamucil, coloxyl, movicol, oral laxatives etc etc etc i have a high fibre diet, I'm active and i drink enough water. my constipation comes with the typical bloating and pain but also a feeling as though I am trying to digest hundreds of little needles. The only thing i have found to offer some reprieve is dulcolax suppositories. As unpleasant as they are they do soften enough so I can pass the initial blockage but nothing else. my first doctor refused to believe me until he sent me for an X-ray and seen that I was blocked up the wazoo. My second doctor handed me a referral to a dietician even tho I wanted to see a gastro specialist. I'm aware I'll have to see a specialist in the near future I was just wondering if anyone else has/is experiencing the same problem. when I say sever constipation I'm talking 3 weeks usually before I start to lose my marbles and opt for a suppository.

I'm 18 years old... turning 19 next month. The last time I had a successful, healthy BM was on Sunday... about 5 days ago. Prior to the BM on Sunday, I didn't really go to the bathroom for about 4 or 5 days. I didn't feel as I have completely emptied myself with that BM per se, but I got a LOT out. More than what I would have when I am regular, going about everyday or every other day. It should have restored me to regularity.
The problem is, I don't have the urge to go to the bathroom... at all. 0 urge to have a BM. The only way I can get anything out (which is like, a quarter sized pebble at a time) is by straining pretty hard. It's so irritating.
I have also been having irregular periods as of late. A few months ago, it was a week late. Now they have been coming early. I feel like I may be on the road to having another early period... Cramps, back pain, and heaviness and bloating.
But because I'm so constipated, I'm much more bloated than what I would be with my normal PMS. The bloating intensifies when I eat. I get so bloated that, I don't really want to eat. I look like I'm about 4 months pregnant. Every time I eat, I get awful, rumbling gas in my stomach as well. I have to position myself a certain way to be able to pass it.
At this point in time, I'm worried that I have an impaction. I've been eating as normally as I could do with the amount of money I have to buy food with, aka buying fruit smoothies, eating whole grain bread, limiting junk food and sweets, drinking LOTS of water every day... maybe about equivalent to 10 or 11 8 oz glasses per day. I do have one cup of coffee with cream in the morning. Still, nothing.
I took 1 (100 mg) colace pill a day for the past two days. When will the colace work? Will it even work with my condition? Should I try something else, like a suppository? Or should I just go see my doctor and just get advice from them?

It's been about 6 months of feeling ill with these symptoms. I'm a 20 year old male and I have been checked with blood tests and stool samples. Also I had an endoscopy and colonoscopy and a ct scan of small intestine and one of the general abdomen. All these tests came back negative, and so I have been just dieting well with lots of water and benefiber, but I still feel the same. I also just had a kidney stone for first time about 2 weeks ago, and that made me thought it was linked to a kidney stone. So I had more blood tests and still came back negative. I am lactose intolerant but I have stayed away from any lactose when dieting. I really have no clue what's going on with my stomach; it has never felt like this before. I am curious could it possibly be a gallbladder problem even though the ct scans didn't pick anything up. It said that the gall bladder was remarkable from the ct scan report. I don't have a lot of pain like in most gallbladder cases, but I have heard of others with gallbladder problems that did not necessarily have a lot of pain.

I'm 19 years old and for about the past 4 years I have been on a roller coaster with my body. When I was 16 I RANDOMLY gained 30 pounds (weighing 135 at that point) in a matter of 6-8 weeks unexplainably. During this time, my hair started falling out, I broke out horribly, I became constipated, and of course depressed. This continued for about a year. I was loosely diagnosed with PCOS by an endocrinologist, but was told by my gyno. shortly after that she was 99.9% sure I did not have it (I did not have any cysts on my ovaries). I was put on birth control and spironolactone (a diuretic that helps with acne and hairloss) and within the span of about a year everything VERY SLOWLY mellowed out. I was told by many doctors that this was probably just puberty and that I was paying attention to what I was eating or that I was stressed, etc. Needless to say, I was working out like crazy and counting EVERY SINGLE MORSEL that touched my lips. The only thing I was stressed about was whatever the **** was going on with my body. I am not very high-strung and I rarely get stressed out. Every doctor acted as if I were making this up or overreacting.
By the end of my senior year, 2 years after all of this nonsense began, it was as if EVERY SINGLE SYMPTOM disappeared. Like night and day. I returned to my normal weight of 105, had NO breakouts, no hair loss, not the slightest bit of constipation or any depression, etc. It was the strangest thing and no one could figure it out. I could eat whatever I wanted and not exercise a bit and I stayed the same weight. No stomach pains or bloating at all. However, in my second semester of college I was thrown another curve ball...it started happening again!! I gained 24 lbs in 5 weeks with no explanation...breakouts began over night, as well as the constipation, etc. About 6 weeks ago I was put on Metformin, but have really had no luck with it. I've lost maybe 3 pounds since being on it...but I've been very active and had no appetite whatsoever, so I'm not sure if it's even helping. 3 lbs means nothing when you can gain it back as easily as I do. I recently have been experiencing slight memory loss and just foggy thoughts I feel like. I can eat 5 crackers, or a salad and feel as if I just ate 10 cheeseburgers and fries. It is crazyyyy. I can find no correlations between lactose, gluten, or any foods to any of this going on.
I have been checked for hypothyroidism, cushing's, vitamin D deficiency, insulin resistance, had ultrasounds done, and numerous other things. All of my levels are not fine, but PERFECT. So once again no one can help me. I have recently read about iodine deficiencies, bacterias/fungus in the stomach, ovarian tumors/cysts, liver dysfunction, and LEAKY GUT! For me, the leaky gut hit the nail on the head as far as ALL of my symptoms go. I'm going to go back to the GI and see if any of these things could be the source of my problem. I just don't understand it coming and going like night and day though. Definitely read up on leaky gut and these other illnesses i've mentioned...they sound a lot like the things y'all have been mentioning, as well.

I began to develop abdominal pain following a course of antibiotics prescribed for an overactive gland back in October last year. Since then my condition has worsened to the point where I experience lower abdominal pain on a daily basis. Often the pain can be present all day and I can find no way to relieve it. The only other symptom I have is occasional bloating, but no constipation or diarrhoea (always been regular and that hasn't changed). My health in general is very good and I exercise regularly (swimming and running).
At first I was prescribed Mebeverine but I found it had very little effect. I have had numerous blood tests, a urine test, and also an ultrasound, all of which were clear.
Around 8 weeks ago I was referred to a specialist gastroenterologist and my appointment is in 3 weeks from now. 2 weeks ago I visited my GP again because I was experiencing an unusually degree of pain. She said she would expedite my appointment with the specialist, however this is something she has been unable to fulfil, in part due to bad communication between them and the gastroenterology department and also due to the fact the specialist only works two days a week.
At this point I haven't been diagnosed as having anything specific, and If I'm honest I kind of feel like I've been hung out to dry by my GP whose answer on most occasions has been to wait and see, which suggests they aren't taking it very seriously.
My question really is, is it possible to suffer from IBS but only experience abdominal pain and bloating?

Is it me or is this stuff a waste of time?
I've had obout 20 lithotripsy's in 15 years of having continuous stones. They've never gotten my kidney completely empty of stones ever. I've had lithos, ureterscopy, PCNL. On meds but they can't seem to stop them from growing. I avoid alot of the things that cause stones or limit them. Got to have the 1 cup of coffee in the morning
On the day before litho, your suppose to eat light ( nothing that leaves residue in bowl) but they say you can have white bread or boiled chicken. (Why bother?) I usually only eat jello, gatorade, and just broth. Plus tons of water. The instructions say to drink the magnesium of citrate after dinner. Well to me dinner is after 6/7. But I thought this time I would take earlier since last time didn't start to move the bowels until i was in the hospital. Plus this stuff is awful- taste bad- even refrigeration like they suggest doesn't really help. Twice in past I threw it up.
So I took at 5 pm thinking it would work earlier. Nope. Nothing. Just stomach cramping and it finally started around 5 am after me getting up every hour during night. Still was working again while in hospital.
There has to be something better (tasting) and work faster. Plus less side effects. Or they should change instructions & say take a noon. Next litho (in 2-3 months) I'm taking a 1/2 day off day before and taking at noon. Maybe then can get a little sleep the night before procedure.
Sorry- felt like ranting as frustrated as its been two full days since litho and nothing passing yet. Plus I have a bad back (2 surgeries) which makes it hard to do the exercises where you drink 2 cups water, wait 30 minutes, then elevate kidney @ 45 degrees and stay like that for 30 minutes to try and get the pieces to move.

Thursday morning I spent the night in the ER with a kidney stone in the left kidney -- when they did a CT Scan - they came and told me that they made an "incidental finding" in the right kidney that is a problem -- they have discovered that I have a "Staghorn" kidney stone that has attached itself and almost completely filled the right kidney. He said that I will not pass it and now my GP has made me an appt. with a Nurse Practitioner at the urologist's office for Tuesday morning to discuss my options. What are my options going to be?

A while ago I had kidney stones, I was sent for a scan after, upon returning to my GP for the results of my test, he told me there were calcium deposits in my kidney that could mean I have another on the way, I've been trying to keep well hydrated and doing all I can to prevent a recurrence, because they're damn right evil, I've got away with it for quite a while now, last night I was woke up with the same pain I had when I had kidney stones, I sat on the toilet and waited for the pain so subside, it seems to have gone again for now, I was just wondering if I'm supposed to avoid eating foods rich in calcium, I'm also lactose intolerant and with all this I'm starting to wonder if I'm going to en up deficient in calcium.

Is it possible to have kidney stone pain while the stones are still in the kidney? I have about seven stones in my right kidney and five in my left... I've had lower back pain for almost a month straight and nothing makes the pain go away. I'm trying to get my urologist to call me back, but that is next to impossible if I'm not in the emergency room doubled over in pain. Any suggestions/comments are welcome here

Had anyone had kidney stones? This is my 3rd child I'm 12+1 weeks. I'm healthy.but in the last 2 weeks I have had 4 kidney stones(on top of being really sick with"morning sickness"). Not kidding it IS worse than having a baby. MY ob said they don't effect the baby at all and pregnant women are more prone to getting them.
