I have had a low GFR for a year now but recently it has went down to 51 and I'm passing urine a LOT more often and feel I've a pinching pain under my right rib. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I've had obout 20 lithotripsy's in 15 years of having continuous stones. They've never gotten my kidney completely empty of stones ever. I've had lithos, ureterscopy, PCNL. On meds but they can't seem to stop them from growing. I avoid alot of the things that cause stones or limit them. Got to have the 1 cup of coffee in the morning
On the day before litho, your suppose to eat light ( nothing that leaves residue in bowl) but they say you can have white bread or boiled chicken. (Why bother?) I usually only eat jello, gatorade, and just broth. Plus tons of water. The instructions say to drink the magnesium of citrate after dinner. Well to me dinner is after 6/7. But I thought this time I would take earlier since last time didn't start to move the bowels until i was in the hospital. Plus this stuff is awful- taste bad- even refrigeration like they suggest doesn't really help. Twice in past I threw it up.
So I took at 5 pm thinking it would work earlier. Nope. Nothing. Just stomach cramping and it finally started around 5 am after me getting up every hour during night. Still was working again while in hospital.
There has to be something better (tasting) and work faster. Plus less side effects. Or they should change instructions & say take a noon. Next litho (in 2-3 months) I'm taking a 1/2 day off day before and taking at noon. Maybe then can get a little sleep the night before procedure.
Sorry- felt like ranting as frustrated as its been two full days since litho and nothing passing yet. Plus I have a bad back (2 surgeries) which makes it hard to do the exercises where you drink 2 cups water, wait 30 minutes, then elevate kidney @ 45 degrees and stay like that for 30 minutes to try and get the pieces to move.
I was just wondering if anyone has protein in their urine with Chronic Kidney Disease and what did your doctor do about it if anything. I am trying to keep my GFR stable. The last time it went up a bit but am worried about the protein causing more damage quicker.
View 5 RepliesHello I am 19 years old I have been suffering with bladder and kidney infections since I was 14. I was admitted to hospital to find out what was wrong with me nothing could be found, I think I have tried every antibiotic under sun...nothing seems to help, I suffer with them every few mounts or so on and off.
When I fall ill with one I'm very ill it puts in bed for days with terrible pain and fever, I'm young and starting university very soon...I don't know anyone who suffers as bad as me and I struggle to get to the doctors a lot with being a full time student, it's so unbearable and frustrating can anyone help?.
Is it possible to have CKD or kidney failure without protein in urine?
Last week my masseuse found a knot in my back that she suspects could be inflammation in my kidney. I've had some weird symptoms popping up over the last month like foot/ankle swelling, profound fatigue, leg cramps and blurry vision. This last week though I began developing SEVERE flank pain (like 9 on a 10 scale), back pain (started out lower, now entire back), horrible nausea, horrible headaches, shooting pains down my legs, metallic taste in mouth, dizziness and loss of appetite. Not to sound melodramatic but I feel like I'm dying. The pain is constant but the intensity seems to be moving in 24 hour cycles. Today I feel awful but I was able to shower/get dressed. Yesterday I couldn't even get out of bed. I slept for 16 hours. It's been going in that pattern for the last week and a half.
My doc did a urine culture last week, got results today and there was no protein in my urine, but I had 3+ ketones and a large amount of leukocytes. Blood work from a month ago just came in and my kidney numbers were off a month ago: BUN (32), Creatinine (1.8), eGFR (33). Between the symptoms and the blood test I'm thinking it sounds like renal failure, but could it be CKD without protein in the urine?
Thursday morning I spent the night in the ER with a kidney stone in the left kidney -- when they did a CT Scan - they came and told me that they made an "incidental finding" in the right kidney that is a problem -- they have discovered that I have a "Staghorn" kidney stone that has attached itself and almost completely filled the right kidney. He said that I will not pass it and now my GP has made me an appt. with a Nurse Practitioner at the urologist's office for Tuesday morning to discuss my options. What are my options going to be?
View 1 RepliesA while ago I had kidney stones, I was sent for a scan after, upon returning to my GP for the results of my test, he told me there were calcium deposits in my kidney that could mean I have another on the way, I've been trying to keep well hydrated and doing all I can to prevent a recurrence, because they're damn right evil, I've got away with it for quite a while now, last night I was woke up with the same pain I had when I had kidney stones, I sat on the toilet and waited for the pain so subside, it seems to have gone again for now, I was just wondering if I'm supposed to avoid eating foods rich in calcium, I'm also lactose intolerant and with all this I'm starting to wonder if I'm going to en up deficient in calcium.
View 3 RepliesIn the last week of Jan I was diagnosed with a bad kidney infection and given a weeks antibiotics (can't remember the name). After 2 weeks feeling no better I went back to docs with a sample and the infection was still there and given 3 day course of antibiotics (naturfranton (not sure of spelling)) and was told to come back again the next week with a sample. This time the sample was clear but a week later I was back with flank pain and generally feeling unwell, there was no infection in urine but I was sent for blood tests to test my kidney function etc and sent for an ultrasound. All of these tests came back clear. 2 weeks later back again feeling unwell, nausea, pain around bladder, upset stomach and received 3 day course of trimethoprim. I finished this course and finally felt normal only ten days later to be back with nausea and kidney pain and I am currently on a 5 day course of amoxicillin.
I'm not sure if this infection is one that will just not go away or recurring infections.Has anyone else ever had this problem and what did it take to get rid of the infection? I,ve never had kidney infections before and never had antibiotics before this ( I am 18 ) any help is welcome, I am sick of being sick at this point.
I am a 19 yr old guy, currently 5'5 1/2" and around 125 lbs (my weight fluctuates about 125-130 these days). I hit puberty around 14, but I have been my current height for 4 years, have weighed between 110-140 in that time, and have not growing at all in height. I currently have a lean 28" waist, 35" hips, 35" chest, and 14" neck. I have a bit of armpit hair, thigh hair, navel hair, and leg hair, but it's somewhat sparse and not really thick yet. I also have the peach fuzz on my face, and it's starting to get darker on my jawline. My Adam's apple is also getting noticeable.
My dad is 5'6" and 200 lbs. He claims that a lot of it is muscle and that he only has "10 pounds of fat on him", but that's a statement more applicable to me; he is quite overweight. He says when he was my age he was 170 lbs and "not fat" -- I know for a fact that I would look really fat at 170 lbs. My appetite was really voracious for a couple years but has slowed down; though I still get days where I can almost clean out an entire refrigerator, they are getting more rare. My sister is 5'7" and 150 lbs, and somewhat chubby. My mother is 5'3" and about my weight.
I still look youngish in the face, though my jaw has become more geometric and square lately. I don't know whether I should "try" to grow by say, working out a lot, sleeping a lot, and drinking lots of milk + excess calories, but I feel like it might not even work. Is it likely my growth is almost done? Can/should I get a bone scan to determine it?
I've been suffering with hyperthyroid and TED for over a year. My eyes are extremely dry. I can't sleep at night because they constantly run water and I find that I'm isolating myself from the world because of my weight gain and eyes that get as large as quarters at times. I was at a football game this past weekend when a stranger walked up to me and said every time the horn blows your eyes get as big as quarters it really comical to watch. I was mortified and felt that everyone was looking at me. I went home cried until I couldn't cry anymore. I guess I should have told her that I have a disease that causes this but at the time I was speechless. Has anyone else experienced this and what if anything have you done about it?

View 3 RepliesI found out two days ago that I had chlamydia but I haven't been with anyone in over a year besides this new guy and we haven't done nothing but kiss. I don't know how I got t but how do u know if the meds are working? I never had symptoms. My now ex thinks I'm nasty when I didn't know about it. Could they mess that up for a uti cause I grew up having uti every day of the week. Confused on how this could happen and why he would not want anything to do with me. I got tested over a year ago and had nothing but now I do. Could he have given it to me from kissing me?

View 4 RepliesHad one year of sore throat or inflamed throat. I did go to gps. Specialists, had nose operation, scope done to see throat clearly,, nothing , didn't help at all. Many antibiotic courses, remedies, liquids to wash throat. No sign of improvement. I m tired of it.
Doctors suspected gerd, though my stomach doesn't burn, i have taken medics for two months but no help again .Morning time its worse , have to clear everyday . Its gets better until night time slowly. Then again next morning, it get worse. This is continously for one year now.
Im 40 years old and been having pain for just over a year. The pain is just under my right rib it comes and goes it lasts anywhere from a few seconds to 30 mins it's also very tender, it like a burning stinging pain i also get this pain on either side of my belly button but not as often maybe 10 times in a day this is also tender i have lower back ache bloating feeling sick most of the time never feel hungry but sometimes wake up with a really bad hunger pain, my right leg from the knee down aso swells change in bowel movements also bladder control has gone a bit, anyway had a ct scan it showed bulky ovaries with several large cysts and that my gallbladder neck is deformed but then they are saying that this is not the cause of my symptoms and put me on amitriptyline for pain management im so confused and they have sent me back to gps care.
View 74 RepliesI'm 17, and I got my period when I was about 13. It would come fairly regularly, but I never really tracked it to the day. About 2 years ago my periods became further apart, every two or so months, but I never really payed attention. I now haven't had my period in over a year, and am beginning to get quite worried. I have been to a doctor (about 6months ago) and had blood and hormone tests, all of which came back fine. My doctor said to come back if I still hadn't had it in a year, which I plan to do as soon as I can get an appointment. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on why it might be? I am a virgin, eat completely healthy, exercise every day, am at the middle of healthy weight range for my age/height, and have never been on any birth control. My doctor said he thought it unlikely to be cysts but I'm not ruling it out (just crossing my fingers that it's not). I haven't been too worried as its quite convenient with my very active lifestyle, but i realize I need to get it sorted out.
View 1 RepliesI had my period was June 2015. I have now taken my period for the first time since then, and it has been going on for 3 weeks and doesn't look like it's going to stop anytime soon. I am 24 years old and have went to my doctor about this, but they said it was normal. Honestly I don't think it is normal but I might be wrong. Has anyone experienced anything like this and know what could be wrong? I do have Crohn's disease but I don't think it has anything to do with that.
View 2 RepliesOne of my tonsils (left one) has been swollen for a year now, I think it got slightly bigger but I'm not sure. It doesn't hurt or anything.
I went to the doctor when I first noticed it's swollen and he said that it might've been tonsillitis but it's gone and the tonsil should shrink within 3-4 weeks. I completely forgot about it as it didn't hurt or anything.
Wherever I look it says it might be cancer so I'm freaking out.
My grandfather had a lung cancer.
Also I am a smoker.
My doctor pretty much acted horrifically shocked at my weight gain (double in weight in less than a year) but will not help me get off mirtazapine. I'm sat here in tears. I can't win ! I have episodes so vile and destructive and they're getting worse because I'm disgusted by my vile appearance.. I can't win ? What can I do ? The one person who should be able to help me is ignoring my pleas ..
I'm heartbroken. Either I sleep and keep getting fat which equals being exhausted every time I leave my house and never fitting into my clothes and being so ashamed of myself my depression starts up again OR I return to sleepless nights (meaning paranoia and unusual sleeping patterns grumpiness) but be slim again and comfortable going out in my own skin..
I'm so lost.. I never knew how badly this drug could affect someone.. My entire life has vanished because I hate myself and I get so sweaty and out of breath everytime I walk up the stairs.. I have tried to just NOT eat but it makes me so miserable the hunger.. I can't cope. I'm so bloody disgusted by myself
Ive got no way out, i've gotten into this awful hole and i've got no way to get out im stuck i hate what i've become i don't know what to do,
I have been dealing with a small lump around my anus. It has been a year and when i first got it, i looked for it online and the articles that i read all said that the lump will heal by itself. It already been a year and im more of tired of it. It's not painful, but sometimes it does itches, when defecating, sometimes i will find blood on the poo, but all this happens really seldom. The lump does not bother much, but it's been more than a year and it is still there. Sometimes the lump will shrink but sometimes it will grow back, and i really do not know what to do. I am definitely going to see a doctor about it, but i will like to know ideas or anything about what i am dealing with.
View 1 RepliesI have a 4 year old that is struggling with legs pain. It's intense enough that sometimes she won't walk & just cries. I've been giving her Motrin. It seems to be in the morning & evenings mostly & from the knee down. Always the left leg. Could growing pains be this intense? She's been sick a lot the past month & her grandpa (dads side) has rheumatoid arthritis.
