Just a query for all that's had the op, the doctor on duty the day I was discharged gave me a sick note for 6 weeks, I was told I needed 12 weeks off work previously.
What's everyone else had regarding how long they had on sick
note ? (if you work of course) I had TAH with BSO
I had a total robotic hysterectomy 5 weeks ago. Sunday night had unplanned sex. It was not painful, I'd say uncomfortable. When my husband ejaculated, it burned!
Today, Wed. Still burning, uncomfortable and frequent urination.
Does this sound like an infection? Or irritation because it was too soon.
I even resorted to using hydrocortisone last night because it was driving me crazy and I could not sleep.
Why am I in so much lower back pain, left side and my bladder hurts, I've had a vaginal hysterectomy and posterior repair. It can't be a water infection as I'm just finish the a course of antibiotic. Really fed up now. Is anyone else the same?
View 44 RepliesI have to believe that all of my worries and illnesses right now are somewhat peri related and I'm at my wit's end. I have a nasty sinus infection that I can't kick..I think I'm allergic to my cat and I'll have to give him up. I'm waiting on my period..it should be here..my head feels like it's going to pop off my body and I'm so anxious and all I can do is focus on the negative. I feel sick now all the time and I really am tired of it. So tired. I think my peri just makes everything else worse. This would be something I could handle years ago...now it's like every little thing is the end of the world. I want this to go away...I'm done with this change stuff.

I haven't eaten anything that would upset my stomach and I don't think I've been around anyone who is ill.

I'm only normally on 3 days 4at the most my body body feels lethargic achy heavy just heavy feeling...feel quite sick and quite bad acid reflux which I keep monitored as I'm on medication for this....I don't feel well at all NOT myself I'm on medication Sertraline which has eased my mood swings ok some days are rubbish but I cope?!!.

infact I have know for ages that I was entering peri but they kept fobbing me off with oh you're too young mmm really I'm 46? And I'm still having normal periods ..you not in peri you have to be 50/51 to be in peri!
I am into my third week of this treatment and today I am feeling really sick. I noticed a slight rash on my hands. I think I actually felt better taking nothing! Anyone else have problems taking carbimazole? Does it pass?
View 1 RepliesAbout 3 months ago i was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism a irregular heartbeat and was stuck on warfarin carbimazole and heart tabs i had a heart rate of 197 bpm and this all was only found by a routine medical cause i was sweating so bad anyway i was stuck on 180mg of carbimazole all seemed well until i noticed i was gaining quite a lot of weight 15kilos to be precise managed to get in to see dp and he lowered it to 6omg a day as im hoping i have my radioactive iodine soon but since i been on 60mg a day i have good days and bad days i am still working but when this sicky feeling comes it renders me useless and end up not going to work im 37 years old very fit as work as a lead roofer but am at end of my patience with this shit

I was diagnosed yesterday with overactive thyroid and given Carbimazole 15mg until I get appointment to see endocrinologist. Feel very sick today, is this normal. What is the normal T4 level supposed to be, gp didnt tell me only said mine was 26. Looking at some of comments does everyone put on weight when taking these tablets.

View 10 RepliesI suffer with chronic pancreatitis since 2007 I have really bad anxiety and depression with it, my conditions were all caused by drinking way to much alcohol. I haven't had a single drop of alcohol for 2 years yet I've been admitted in hospital 4 times in them 2 years for my chronic pancreatitis. I live in the UK and I see a professor who deals with chronic pancreatitis once a year where I have a CT scan with contrast to see how my pancreas is, so far it seems to be holding its own but recently I am becoming more nausea everyday and vomiting everyday and its stopping me from eating. If i eat a small amount of any kind of food I'm instantly bloated all the time, I do smoke but I just haven't got it in me to stop smoking like the way I stopped alcohol because Iv'e been an alcoholic since 1994. I take medication everyday, propranolol for anxiety, omeprazole for acid in the stomach, vitamin b compound, and I also take tramadol 50mg when required because of my chronic pancreatitis pains I get everyday. At night i take pizotifen for my migraines and i take mirtazapine 30mg for my depression, I do really worry about my health and recently for the last month Iv'e been constantly vomiting everyday, I'm not eating as the smallest amount of food makes me feel bloated and gives me heartburn, but most of all I just haven't got no energy at all. Can someone help please as Iv'e asked my doctor for all kinds of things but he just says its due to your chronic pancreatitis, the last four weeks my days consist of coffee and smoking and so on, I can't eat and I'm feeling sick all of the time.
View 18 RepliesI feel so disappointed, simply because nobody told me how much you'd be limited in your activities. They are quick to rush you into the OR, and they tell you how much better you'll feel once it's done. There needs to be a delegated "person/nurse/social worker" person to call and ask about concerns on a certain timeline. Once a month, at first a few times a week. Someone that knows the answers to your questions or can find out w/o actually going in to see the surgeon, a person who can screen when you do and don't need to consult surgeon. That has been trained to know how to deal with post op patients, their worries, frustrations, and pretty much questions. I think follow up is a super important thing...but after your surgery is done, they're on to the next person, and you are a vague memory. At first, you feel so special, especially during the pre op visits, Doctor is all cheerful "So,HOW are YOU today??" After surgery, Doctor is all "why didn't you start PT on this week instead of that week? shaking his head. The friendly guy is gone, and I feel now just a nuisance and I ask specific questions and he actually says "Hmmm, I don't know" - as my hair was all falling out. My GP knew exactly what it was. It just all felt wrong. Do you think your follow up care was as good as the pre op screening, interviews, and care? Did the photos of the scars/incision you saw look a bit like yours? Were you taught how to properly massage the scar to prevent adhesions and help make it less obvious and look better? My scar... sure didn't look like this, which is what I expected.

I received a call yesterday saying that my blood test for spina bifida, down syndrome and other conditions concerning my baby was NORMAL! I'm so happy but this is my first child. Is it okay if I don't take my vitamins even though my test came back normal?
View 1 RepliesI was diagnosed with postpartum thyroiditis about 18 months ago. I have had it under control for over a year now except for 2 days out of every month. The first couple of days of my period. Every time I see a medical professional or talk to someone about it, they act like I'm crazy because I am too young to have these problems. Every month I am extra tired, moody and nauseous. I also get dizzy, disoriented, hot and cold, sweating, heart rate increases and when I'm hot it feels like my thyroid is pushing on my airway. I go to the hospital but they send me home cuz my oxygen is at 97%. Which is the lower side of being normal. And they are say it's impossible for my period to affect my thyroid like that. Am I crazy or are they not caring cuz of my age?
View 1 RepliesIt started one Saturday night when after a long day of doing overtime at work, followed by handing in my degree dissertation, I could not eat very much going to bed and was waking up a lot during the night because I was hungry, but when I tried to eat I couldn't stomach much. I went to the doctors on the Tuesday and she suggested it was just a bug as I was so tired and had very little energy. She took bloods which all came back fine. I felt a little better a week later but still not right but tried to put it at the back of my mind. However, every so often I would have an episode where I was feeling sick and had stomach pains and I could not each much so I lost a lot of weight.
The doctor prescribed me with domperidone in September which helped for a number of months but stomach was still not right.
Fast forward to 4 weeks ago I wasn't feeling too bad and was managing to get on with day to day life with some limitations (because of my stomach issues, I cannot drink alcohol, coffee or fizzy drinks) so I rarely go out. The doctor diagnosed me with stress and anxiety and I have recently started speaking to a therapist through work.
But basically, for the last four weeks I have been feeling sick all day every day with stomach pains a few times a day which prevents me from getting on with day to day life. It started the day after I had sex and the day after that I had my period as well as a cold. These pains do not seem to be getting any better and seems to help when I have something to eat, but I cannot face eating a lot. For example, bananas help but I don't want to have too many a day as they have bloated me in the past.
A couple of nights ago I woke up with a tremendous pain down the left side of my stomach which then moved over into the centre. I still feel sick but feel much better when I am out and about walking for example, but its just a lot of effort to get up and about when sometimes i do not want to get out of bed.
This condition is stopping me from leading a normal active, well life. I am only 24 and cannot seem to lead a normal life in comparison to my friends who can. The docs still say this is down to stress and anxiety but it has to be much more than that. I get the impression that my parents, friends and work colleagues do not understand and the fact that the pain is constant does nothing to lower my stress and anxiety levels as I always have to make sure I take food with me wherever I go and can't go too long without food.
I've been taking carbimazole 20 for 2 months now as i have graves i had a uptake scan which shows its my whole thyroid gland is playing up .up and down so my specialist had gave me carbimazole to block my thyroid hormones and replacing them back with thyroxine 50 i feel so terrible sickley cant eat well also headace i believe the carbimazole is causing all the trouble.with side effects.
