Hyperthyroidism :: Experiencing Symptoms Despite Medication And Normal Bloodworks?
Nov 12, 2014
Before I ask my question I would like to stress that I easily get scared hearing about disease, so I am asking that please, no one begin telling of anyone having the symptoms I have and then it turns out to be xyz terrible disease that they died from, because then I will just get so extremely scared. My question is strictly regarding hyperthyroidism.
I am hoping someone can calm me I am new to the forums and new to hyperthyroidism. I have been on medication for 2,5 months and mostly feel just fine, but in the early mornings, from about 05 am, I feel symptoms, which wake me up- heart racing, feeling anxious, a little shaky, preventing me from going back to sleep. It seems to peak at about 07.30 am, and then gradually lessens until it is completely gone at about 09-10 am. But during my period and ovulation and also if I have not slept well (I suffer from insomnia) it seems to linger somewhat longer, sometimes through the afternoon or even the entire day.And this scares me, because I am medicated and my bloodworks say I'm within normal range.
One doctor said yes, I can be feeling symptoms despite medication/normal bloodworks and then another doctor said no I cannot, so now I don't know what to think :'(
The doctor who said I cannot be experiencing symptoms suggested it is mental anxiety, but that just does not match what I am experiencing, because if I get anxious about something, there is always a trigger that will get my mind going and then my body follows. But this is right opposite- it is my body that starts going and then my mind follows. It feels just like the symptoms I had before I was diagnosed and got treatment, it does not feel like getting anxious about something, it starts in my body, not my mind.

I've had so many tests, most come back with hyper thyroid, I've lost so much weight. From 10 to a 6 in a few weeks really. I get so sick in the stomach but don't always throw up. I get sweats, trouble sleeping, always feel fatigue though, head aches and missed periods. My stomach feels awful most of the time, I can't drink, makes me feel ill. I suffer from aniexty and depression.. I've always been thin, I'm so picky with food now too as it seems everything upsets my stomach. It feels like these hormones are poising my body.. How did you guys know you had hyper? What were you first signs.. I think I have had this for a long time but always put it down to something else. Waiting for some more test results next week but I'm so stressed about this I need answers.. If anyone can help pls reply below.

Just to give a brief overview I've been suffering with sciatica for quite some time (approx 4 years); this was picked up by my personal trainer after a particularly nasty 'attack' I had in front of her however I have been seeing the doctor for years and referred to physios who until I have paid to see one privately have just given me the various unhelpful exercises to do. I am 26 years old. I have been trying to manage the pain by exercises from my new physio which do help, as well as using a TENS machine - which helps slightly. As well as taking ibuprofen on a regular basis. My question is what is normal when it comes to sciatica and when do people know when its worth visiting the doctor again? I have noticed for some time that my (mainly right) leg gives way quite a lot when I've been standing and walking for some time e.g. if I go out shopping. It means I have to drag it along for 5 - 10 minutes until it recovers any feeling. I have also noticed my 'attacks' becoming more and more frequent. My definition of attacks being the point where I'm laid on the floor having suffering from severe spasms. These sometime pass quickly, other times not so quickly. My fiance is adamant I need to see a doctor as it seems to be getting worse however I'm unsure whether this is wasting their time.

just wondered if anyone else is experiencing the hell that is duloxetine withdrawal?
This is my 5th day of being off the duloxetine all together. Im now on Mirtazapine. I dont know if what Im experiencing is the duloxetine withdrawal or the side effects of Mirtazapine :?
I am so spaced out its unreal. I get brain shocks constantly that really take your breath away and literally stop you from doing anything. I go to get dressed and zap, there it is. I bend down to pick up my jeans, and zap. Turn round to look at something and zap. I ache from limb to limb like a 90 year old with arthritis!! Im exhausted physically and mentally and I am just unable to do anything. I haven't been out of the house for 8 days, and haven't got dressed for 6!
I'm so sick of this med roundabout. I've been ill for little over a year now and have sampled 8 delightful anti deps, 3 anti psych and 2 relaxants. I feel like a junkie. Every time I move onto a new tablet, I have to go through some sort of withdrawal. These meds are supposed to be non addictive, but I'm beginning to think otherwise. They said that Valium wasn't addictive when that came out, now look.
I'm just so sick and tired of this whole roller coaster. As if it's not bad enough being depressed and out of your mind with worry and fear in the first place, but to then take tablets that are supposed to help the situation, but actually just add to your problems!

I am a 20 year old female that has been experiencing pain in the right side of my neck that radiates down my right arm to my fingers for a week or so. This is often accompanied by a burning sensation under my right armpit and down my arm. Today this has been replaced by a tingling sensation on my chest, jaw, arm and occasionally my upper abdomen. This is again all on my right side. I also have a headache. Could this be shingles?

I am experiencing a lot of hair loss. I always have the beautician thin my hair out since it is very thick and she said are you losing hair because of your medication? My hair was very long and I could not go to get a haircut and just assumed it was because of this. Now I got a haircut and notice I am losing hair all over the house. I am using copaxone and have been on it for over 20 years. I have recently been to my neurologist and they have said only a few individuals experience hair loss and did not recommend anything. What can I do?

Is anyone taking Nortriptyline (antidepressant, but I take it for chronic daily headaches) and experiencing hair thinning or hair loss. I've been on 20mg for the past month and a half and have noticed my hair has significantly thinned out to the point it's becoming very staticky and limp. If so and you have stopped taking this medication, has your hair grown back to it's original volume?

By now some of you will know that I love mirt. but alas although it instantly lifted my depression and made me feel alive, I am now experiencing sporadic full blown rages! I have never in my 55 years been an angry person in fact I am too placid most of the time. I have now had 5 rages since being on mirth for four weeks, today I was practically ejected from my chemist because of my behaviour. All because they couldn't find my prescription! I contacted my doctor and said my rage frightens me, I even cry angry tears after each incident. I have now been told to stop taking mirtazapine with immediate effect! Alas start venlafaxine (spelt wrong) tomorrow! No tapering...just stop!
Cannot believe my luck. Did anyone here experience unnatural rages?

I have an 8 year old who was diagnosed with Coeliac disease last May and has been following a gluten-free diet ever since. Her symptoms previously were pins and needles in hands and feet, mouth ulcers, calcium marks on teeth, bloating, aching joints and bones, and small pink spots on the face. She is also quite small for her age. Her symptoms have cleared up, However now and then she gets sick if we have problems with cross-contamination.
My problem is that she is still experiencing a degree of joint and bone pain. About 2 weeks ago was the last time she got sick because of cross contamination, but last night she couldn't sleep because of the pain. Is this normal - does anyone else experience this?

Could anyone tell me what the best medication and treatment is for LPR? And how long after does it take to settle?
I am 99% sure I have LPR.
ENT confirmed with a nose scope yesterday the posterior part of my larynx was swollen due to reflux.
I have read up on LPR and this would explain my breathing difficulty, waking up choking, rare heart burn and acid, difficulty swallowing, frequent laryngitis, constant throat clearing, waking up with a sore throat, sore ears inside, swollen lymph nodes, swollen glands etc.
I am a little more positive than I was just a bit worried incase this is it for life

I could really use some advice as soon as possible. I've recently started going to therapy, and for whatever reason I seem to be getting worse. I have generalised anxiety, kinda severe ocd and mild depression.
I'm now considering meds as I can't seem to cope and I'm terrified almost all the time.
But I'm also on a contraceptive pill called microlite and I've heard some meds can stop the pill working right. I'm scared of unplanned pregnancy so I'd really appreciate advise from anyone who's on meds who could advise me what to take?
Obviously I'll talk to my doctor but she's a little old fashioned and I worry she might prescribe the wrong thing.

A little over 3 weeks ago I was treated intravenously with Levaquin for pneumonia. About 20 minutes into the drip I started to get large hives! This has been going on for over 3 weeks now. The hives are not nearly as bad as they were but I'm still getting them. I was taking benadryl at first but was then switched to Allegra. I stopped taking it 2 days ago to see if the hives have subsided. For the most part they are not as bad but now anytime my skin gets warm I have a breakout. Needless to say I'm not getting much sleep bc I keep waking up to hives and have to sleep in a cool room so I don't get too hot. Very frustrating!! Anyone ever have this happen? How long did it take for the hives to go away?

Has anyone had a DNA test to determine the effectiveness of pain medication? I have chronic 24/7 migraines and take high doses of Dilaudid (16 mgs) every 3-4 hours. Even at this dosage the pain is only reduced to about a 6 on the pain scale. What were the findings from your test? Did it provide any useful information or was it a way for my pain management dr to pad his pockets? As it is I have to see him every 4 weeks and provide a urine sample every other month. After 4 years you would think he could rest assured that I am not taking more than prescribed. I'm just afraid he looks at me like a way to make more money. Any, I digress. Please let me know about the DNA testing.
