The best and most foolproof way to remove stress is through laughter. Find something you enjoy, spend some time with a loved one, or walk around the block with a neighbor. People, love, and laughter always do the trick!

I'm a 43yr old male with no history of heart disease, though I do have low HDL cholesterol and mild hypertension (130's/90's) and am on half a Benicar 20mg pill daily. I lost 100lbs 5 years ago and have kept it off with regular exercise (I run 5-7 days per week) and heavy weight lifting (2-3 days/week), plus a much better diet than I ever had while in my obese days. I'm still overweight at 210lbs, 6'2", but in a much better place, I think, and continue to drop a pound every month or so!
Recently, due to a chronic issue with abdominal discomfort that sometimes migrates into my chest, I had a treadmill stress test and echo at the local county hospital and would like to know if I should ask more questions about the results of the stress test (echo still pending).
An echo was performed before the treadmill portion and then ASAP after I hopped off the treadmill (within 10-15 seconds at most). I had zero trouble with the treadmill test, reaching my heart rate goals after about 18 minutes of continuous increases in speed and incline. No discomfort, dizziness, etc. and blood pressure didn't do anything weird, nor did there appear to be any arrhythmia.
The result published by the attending doctor (my regular GP) are as follows:
"... initial EKG was a sinus rhythm ... maximal ST depression was -2.2. However, he was asymptomatic and the depression was in one lead only. This is an electrically and symptomatic negative exercise stress test ..."
I've read that this amount of ST depression is significant, but is it true that a single-lead depression is a negative result? Should I at least inquire about which lead was negative? The tech did have some trouble getting one of my leads to read at first, but seemed to get that worked out before I hopped on the treadmill - I should've asked which lead that was; located on left side rib cage under arm.
I have digestive issues that often present with chest discomfort, fullness, jaw or esophagus tightness, etc. and that leads to anxiety, as you might imagine. Perhaps I'm being overly anxious about this, too...just want anyone with experience or knowledge of these tests to weigh in on whether I should probably just let it go or follow up once the echo comes back in a few more days.

It's supposed to be a special breathing technique and I tried it and it really did relax me. He says you are creating a "energy circuit" when putting your tongue against the roof of your mouth. Can someone explain in further detail, this interests me majorly...

I have recently really been going through a tough time. I found out I was pregnant last week and decided I have to go through with an abortion. I did not plan on a pregnancy hence my use of contraception which failed me. I'm 21 and still live with my parents and in school so I don't have the right time to be having a child. Not only is it the fact that I am getting an abortion (something I never thought I would have to do), but the fact that the man who has a part in this as well is no longer in my life. We just started dating maybe for 2 months, and just a few days ago I caught him lying numerous times about women which is just something I cannot handle. To top it off he has not tried to contact me either knowing that I am going through a tough time with this pregnancy. My days seem to get harder and harder and it's really weighing down on me. I really don't know what to feel or how to cope. Has anyone gone through any tough times regarding an abortion?

I have been driving now for 1 year and 2 months and find myself constantly stressed and sick. Its getting to the point I am sat in work and feel like I need to be out in the car. The thing that makes me so stressed is my own driving, I can be fine and then come up to a roundabout for example, get ready to move off again and if my car jolts even a little bit (bringing the clutch up to fast etc) I will be stressed for the rest of the day. It sounds ridiculous I know but it frustrates me so much. I now find myself analysing everything I do when I am in the car which I think is making me worse as I am even more concentrated on it now when driving should be something you just automatically do. I am stuck in a viscous circle and my over thinking is getting to the point that I feel physically sick with constant headaches and worry. I've looked up how to stop over thinking but nothing seems to work.

stress may cause excessive sweating. I am a stressful person so do you think my constant sweating may be caused by stressful personality?

Quite simply, what's better for a persons physical and mental health? Stress or Xanax?
I can make it through most days without Xanax. Note "make it through". It's work... Allot of work. Everybody deals with stress differently. Mine is usually, headaches, high BP/BPM, dizziness, and an inability to relax and enjoy the present. I have been dealing with anxiety for about 2 years now. Tried SSRI's. Not for me, to say the least.
Xanax works quite well for me. But I HATE that I take it. I want to be free from any pharmaceutical drug as long as I can. But sometimes I just don't want to put up with the struggle of the day.
What do you guys think? Is it better on the mind and body to struggle by with stress, or to use Xanax. I should state that I understand it doesn't have to be a "all or nothing" situation. But I guess I'm just curiouse about what's actually worse for a person in the long run.

I was doing exercise on Xanax and after 3 months my body fell apart. Heart hurt w/ palpitations, could no longer digest properly, breathing became difficult and labored throughout the night and day. Esophagus problems. Saw MANY doctors, no one could help me! I thought I was dying. I found the cause to be 0.25MG of Xanax! I thought I was going to die with all of the symptoms my body was displaying. Cost me $40,000 dollars for all the specialists I went to see. No one could help me. When I got off Xanax my body slowly came back. Do yourself a favor and stay away from XANAX. This is a very dangerous drug!

So this is my first post and I figured maybe someone could help me on this because I think it's getting ridiculous and I'm just tired of feeling like this. I started college on the 26th and have been anxiety free for pretty much all of summer. Starting around Tuesday I had mini anxiety attacks that would come once a day but would literally be episodes of max 15 seconds. Thursday I had a big one, but instead of being a very quick and heavy anxiety attack that lasts just mere seconds, it turned out to be slowly building and started with me feeling uneasy, and restless, and then numb around my body. The numbness was most notable in the lips and hands. The same thing has been occurring daily since then but I would say that I am dealing with it a bit better every time but the symptoms are no less present. Does anyone else feel this way? I'll try to explain in greater detail my symptoms and a few extra ones to finish up:
Numbness of lips and arms. Heaviness in arms, especially right arm and wrist. Rightness and pressure in head. Weakness in upper body mostly. Elevated heartbeat. Neck feels weak occasionally.

I am 54yrs of age. Today was the first time I had chest (burn) pain while walking up steps. Cannot jog or run due to MS, so I climb steps for exercise. Along with the chest pain I was wheezing. Do I have a blockage?

I'm 16 and consider myself to be quite healthy. About two weeks ago I started to get headaches that have been constant every day (I still have them now). The pain is quite dull, the pain is not so bad that I can't continue with my daily activities but it's still there. They also come and go. I don't wake up in the middle of the night because of them but I get them constantly throughout the day.
After a week of having these headaches I went to my doctor who suggested it was stress and lack of sleep (I have just started college) but I'm not so sure. He also suggested it could be eye strain and advised me to go get my eyes tested which I am going to soon. I am worried it could be a brain tumor or another serious illness. What do you think?

I have never gotten this, and it has only happened about 3 times but has happened 2 times in the past week.
What happens?:
1- I am normal fine,etc.
2- For around 30 Minutes I am in a situation of EXTREME 'stress', not sure if its stress but like my blood pressure/heart rate/etc is up and I feel like I am unable to move and feel like there's someone holding a sword to my head for example. (this can then become part 3)
3- After I escape that situation, (next part-> I become very very strange, I do not feel right whatsoever(to the extreme). I feel like I have no idea where I am kinda or what I am doing, I am also unable to function(25% battery power running left, where I am and what I am doing I just can't "do it", I am a totally different person/body/etc for the bad as in even everything I see and touch (senses, etc) are VERY VERY strange. Like almost half of my body/brain is there and the other half not or something. In general it is very strange, I also become VERY very warm and almost need to take of all my clothes and open windows, etc.

My boyfriend and I have been together for 8 months now. The sex (when it happens) is amazing! However, let me backtrack a bit....Around the same time we got together, he also got a really important promotion at work, adding a ton of additional stress onto his already stressful job. We share an incredible chemistry but sometimes, when it comes down to intercourse, there is either a lack of erection or an erection that isn't cohesive to lovemaking:( This isn't every time! But the times it happens, I can't help but feel like its me. He says its not me, but its only human nature for me to think it is. I would totally marry this man and start a family! But....what if this is what lies ahead for us? Is this worth ending a relationship? Is there a solution other than quitting his job?

So worried. Had a horrible stressful time recently and the sole of my left foot went tingly 5 weeks ago. Saw a neurologist who has requested an MRI of the brain and spine. I'm petrified it is MS and I know that's what he is looking for. Now i am worried about this I have developed a weird to staying sensation in my pelvic bone. Could this alone stress related? I really hope so. MRI is Friday and results next Monday.
