went for std checks .I'm married but work away from home and I have been doubtful even though my relationship with my husband is fine . I guess I can't trust men especially that I spend long times away for work . pcr blood test for hsv1 and hsv2 were negative . but the urine test was positive for hsv 2 . is pcr more accurate or the urine in this case ? I have no symptoms . i recall having one spot years ago that was tiny and went away in few days . do I have hsv2 bases on these findings ?

I was recently found to have genital herpes in my vaginal and anal region. There are only two possible people i could have got it from, being my boyfriend and the guy before. My boyfriend has never had an outbreak, but we now know it can be transmitted even when undetected, and he's likely the transmitter. I would like to know if he is infected, so we can both prevent it spreading to him, and inform the other person that he needs to be tested.
So my questions are, how accurate is a blood test for hsv? And in what price range does the test cost to have done? Are there any other tests that don't require a person to have out breaks?

I recently decided to get a blood test done for HSV 1 and 2. No typical symptoms, but I was reading that some people never have any symptoms, so I wanted to get checked out. I have had about 10 total sexual partners, and only one that I really gave oral sex to. A few women I just kissed a bit down there, but I have always used a condom. I have noticed a slightly red fordyce on my scrotum, and some small zits around my mouth. I also take coconut oil as a general health supplement, one tablespoon a day and use it on my face before bed. I know that it can inhibit viruses including herpes, but I was wondering if it would affect a PCR or an Antibody test for the virus? I expect labs back Monday, and hopefully it comes back negative, if so I will still have to get retested in a few months since I have had recent partners.

I'm pretty sure I have HSV 2 (herpes) but I never got a culture, never had noticeable recurrent outbreaks, and have had a negative IgG blood test so I'm a little confused and want to know others opinions.
Almost exactly 2 weeks after unprotected intercourse I got:-
-3 hard red bumps/sores in a row in my pubic hair region (about the size of a pencil eraser)
-A few days later: extremely itchy vaginal area and thick, yellowish smelly discharge which lasted a couple days
-Possible "flat" sores on labia minora area (white circular discoloration, did NOT look like typical herpes sore clusters)
-The red sores on my pubic area seemed to crust over/come off (became flat, smooth, and whitish) after about a week then went away. I never noticed any fluid in them or oozing.
I never experienced any swollen lymph nodes, flu-like symptoms, or clusters of white pimple-like sores. I have never noticed any re-current outbreaks. I have no history of HSV 1.
Two years after possible initial outbreak I finally got a blood test: HSV 1 & 2-Specific Ab, IgG; Venipuncture
HSV 1 IgG: <0.91 Negative
HSV 2 IgG: <0.91 Negative
(index: 0.00-0.90, Equivocal .91-1.09)
I know there are lots of cases of people not producing antibodies, so I'm wondering if it's worth getting a Western Blot? Do you think the only explanation for my symptoms is herpes?

I'm a 26 yr old male, I've been peeing cloudy for months now, not every time I pee, usually just once a day, and the rest seem normal. Lately it seems like it's more cloudy than before. Also at night i have to get up alot to pee, but its usually just a few drops each time. Just recently two things happened, on two different occasions. First, I was peeing and it seemed to be normal color, but at the last end it turned white/cloudy and right at the last drop or two it looked like white flaky particles in it. Since then I've been noticing the particles more often. Second thing, almost two weeks after noticing the particles I was peeing one night and it seemed to burn quite bad at the last few drops, and when I was done it didn't feel like a finished, felt like I still had more. I went to outpatients the other night, did a urine sample and the test come back negative for UTI, so they sent it to a lab, next morning they did blood work and another urine sample. Waiting for the results now. Dr thinks it could be a prostate infection (prostatitis) caused from chlamydia so he put me on Ciprofloxacin. I dont think its from chlamydia because the two girls I've had unprotected sex with both been tested recently and come back clean. He also said its possible it could be stones.

Does anyone have knowledge of the OraQuick at home test being accurate on children? I know the manufacturer states that the test is not for anyone under the age of 17. However, aren't antibodies in children the same as in adults? If antibodies for hiv were present in a child, wouldn't the test pick it up?

32yo married male here, I foolishly got drunk over the weekend and gave and relieved unprotected oral sex off a female prostitute.
She was not at all high class and I'm extremely worried about my health. I have made an appointment for 12 days after this happened with a doctor for an std check.
I have 2 questions
1. Is this a long enough time frame to get an accurate test done.
2. If negative would it be safe to resume my married sex life?

On a doctor's visit back in December, it was discovered that i had microscopic blood in my urine. This went on for a few months, and increased with every doctor's check up. A urologist did an ultrasound of the kidney/bladder back in February, and all was normal. He also did cystoscopy which was normal too. He also did a test which shows my bladder holds sufficient amount of urine. The problem is, we never really figured out what the cause was, and recently i have had a new symptom (mucus tissue looking things in my urine). I am considering going back to a different urologist, but has anyone experienced something similar, or know what tissue looking bits in urine is?

Im 29 year old female, i've always thought my painful bladder and urination was from chronic bladder infections for years until my doctor recently sent me to a specialist and sent off for urine culture and came back negative. .have all the symptoms of a bladder infection. Have large amount of blood (4+) ..Urologist sent my for a ct ivp to look for stones or look for something abnormal with ureters or kidney, nothing ..everything came back normal..now the urologist ordered a test to look at the bladder with scope through my urethra and also take a biopsy of bladder wall to look for cancer cells..owww. Any answers on what this can be I have all the symptoms of bladder cancer but im young and no family history of bladder cancer im a non smoker /alcohol drinker.

i had my period last june 9 2014, then on june 27 and 28 i had a light spotting.den, i felt something's wrong with me..there's a feeling or slight symptoms of a pregnant woman..a boobs are tender to touch and painful..my body feel hot like i was having a light fever..than july 1 i take a pregnancy test and shows positive but faint line.. then, july 2 to 8 i got again spotting.. and goes away.. july 14 i took another pregnancy test shows again positive faint line.. i went to my ob july 18 just to know her what's happening on me. i had that light spotting again..and in transvaginal ultrasound shows that there was a thickening of the lining tells me that i am positive. 5 to 6 weeks, but i have a cyst considered benign.nothing to worry about she said. she gave me medicine duphaston good for 10 days, and i'm going to come back for a follow up appt. on july 28. again the spotting continues sometimes light bleeding, sometimes full on my liners. another medicine duphaston gud for 5 days she gave me because on the ultrasound she saw only thickening of the linings and the baby wasn't developing. then, this day august 1 i came back for the final appt, i took a blood test and shows negative. transvaginal ultrasound shows again the lining on my ovary.

I had this stool with bright red blood yesterday and today. I couldn't tell how much blood there is but the water became bright red with 50% visibility (I looked at the stool ). I don't feel any pain and I feel nothing at all on my body. The day before I had the stool with blood, I drank four cups of green tea. I know tea is acidic but I am not sure if this is the cause of it. My urine is fine and without blood.

I am a 17 year old female.
For about four months now I have been experiencing problems with fully emptying my bladder and had trouble with leakage, even wetting myself completely once.
I went to my GP who tested my urine with a dipstick and found traces of blood. My GP also sent off a urine sample to the lab but this has come back negative for blood which confused me.
I have been referred to a urologist and have been booked for a kidney and bladder ultrasound in a couple of weeks.

I first tested hsv2+ at 2.23/hsv1+ at 3.93. Asymptomatic. I got tested again on ELISA test one week later and it was ........ hsv2+ at 3.39/hsv1+ at 4.18. That's a huge increase in only a week. If I do have hsv2, and it looks increasingly likely to be the case, I probably did not contract it from what brought me to the clinic in the first place, but rather have had it for some indeterminate time. Has anyone else seen such a big increase in such a short time? Is such a big swing indicative of problems with the test?
Also, the clinic said they do offer a PCR for hsv2, but that it was a urine test. Is that possible? All PCR tests I've read about require swab samples from a lesion, or use spinal fluid. Has anyone had a PCR urine test, or know about their accuracy?

Hi, can some one plz help me? I had protected sex and protected oral with this woman about 4 months ago. I think I had itchy thighs and the tip of my penis will have this weird felling from time to time, like a mild burn or a dull feeling. I took at test at 4, 6, 11, and 15.5 weeks and they were all negative for hsv 2. I was positive for hsv 1 but I had cold sore when I was little so idk if that's why it was positive. My hsv2 results have always been <.90 and haven't gone up or down. Now do y'all think those result are conclusive for hsv2 or should I keep testing?

I was getting a few pains in my belly yesterday which got really bad. I ended up getting a nurse around and she took tests and found out I have a trace of blood and protein in my urine. I'm worried because she mentioned something about my kidneys, I'm on antibiotics worried if the infection goes to the kidneys.

At the end of December my blood work came back positive for hsv2. I haven't had symptoms or outbreaks. After doing research I found that result index levels above 1.1 are considered positive but below 3.0 are low risk and could be false. Mine was 1.2. I had a flu shot the same day as my blood work. Could this have given a false result?

I recently was diagnosed with Herpes I've yet to go get a blood test done but I was put on Valtrex. I was so scared that I went and bought an Oraquick test I tested negative, two days later I still couldn't get it out of my mind and went and got two more tests while on Valtrex and all three said Negative. I know this question is asked over and over but, are my test conclusive even on Valtrex? My last exposure was 9 months ago if that wasn't clarified?

Am a male aged 35 I've been having pains in my penis when passing urine for while but yesterday when I was urinating the pain became Unbearable so I paused a bit when I started again a clot of blood came out there after I couldn't pass urine anymore cause of the pain,as I tried to slowly release the urine blood continued to come out I've since been to the hospital where I was examined but was told it was not because of any std, what I want to know is what could have caused it
