Herpes :: Would Urethral/Meatus HSV Blisters Burn When Urinating?
May 31, 2015
I have a small bump on my Meatus/outside tip of the urethra. It secretes a very, very small amount of clear fluid when I press on it. Doesn't hurt much (only when I squeeze it hard)... and when I urinate there is no pain.
Does this sound like a HSV blister or not?

I have been suffering from this condition for 9 months now. It started off as urethritis where I had severe burning when peeing, and discharge, and a lot of swelling. My theory is that the swelling was very damaging and it disfigured my peehole permanently. Now, when I am hard I see two solid slips on the two sides of my peehole slit. But when I am not erect the skin on the meatus gets super soft and puffy especially when it is wet. The hole itself had gotten larger too because of the softness. It can get pretty red at times too. It get irritated easily because the skin can flip inside out and the inside of the urethra hurts when it touches my underwear.
I am been very depressed and anxious about this. I don't know if there is anything that can be done to fix this. Surgery perhaps? I just want my peehole to be firm and tight again.
Anyone experiencing the same thing as I am right now?

Alright so I went to the dr two weeks previous to having sex with a new partner and I was clean. I had pretty rough sex with this new partner a week ago and the lubrication wasn't very effective it was pretty painful. then developed a chest cold a few days later which I thought was normal because everyone in my family had been sick at the time. Well a day or two ago (a week after intercourse)I noticed bumps near my vagina. Now I shave so I figured it to be razor bumps. But I also noticed something that looked like a tear at the entrance to my vagina and I assumed it to be from the rough intercourse. At any rate it's probably too soon to tell but there's only three small red bumps and no head to them. They aren't painful to touch but very itchy. The tear is both itchy and slightly painful. I'm headed to the doctor in the next few days because I'm simply freaking out, but if anyone could take a look and give me some advice for ease of mind that would be great.

Hello! I was recently back in February diagnosed with hpv. I had full blood work done and I have no other diseases or infections. I've also not had sex since before the testing. I recently noticed I have two painful blisters, one on the inside of my labia and the other on the other lip. I shave and I've had ingrown hairs but these definitely don't feel the same. They are super uncomfortable. I'm unable to go to the doctor until The end of the week and wanted to see if anyone knew what they might be? And any temporary ideas for pain relief? Over the counters pain killers do nothing. Also, I have extremely bad allergies to pollen and with the pollen, came these blisters, so I am not sure if they are related. I've added pictures below. Thanks for the help.

I recently had some irritation following sex with a girl who I know gets cold sores on occasion. On the shaft of my penis, near the head there is an abrasion of sorts that is mostly painless and I never saw blisters. It doesn't seem to heal, but I've had similar problems in the past; once that skin tears, it seems to take months to heal.
My question is, should I be the slightest bit concerned that I may have contracted HSV1? I went to my doctor and I find that most doctors really have no clue about STDs; she said it could be herpes, but it wasn't typical. Anyone else have an opinion? Do blisters usually show up and hang around for a while before they begin to look like ulcerated skin? Is the pain from these sores usually obvious?

I am trying to figure out if this is my first outbreak. I have a history of vaginal infections that may have masked outbreaks before.
If i had outbreaks before it must have consisted of a pinhead blisters that i never saw and probably never burst
I thought i had another infection but noticed a teeny tiny bump and pointed it out to doc
She did super painful swab test, digging into the skin. This was tuesday. Friday came back positive for type 2. Labia and vaginal opening hurt soooo bad now, but no other blisters. The one she opened is angry and red and not really healing.
The pain is very different than what i used to get with the vag infections. Is it possible my outbreaks were always fairly mild but now that a blister has been broken it is raging, or is this likely my first outbreak?

For years, I have suffered from sores around my chin area. The blisters are identical to cold sores that sometimes appear on my lip. They are painful and will eventually start to weep clear fluid. I do my best to keep the area clean to avoid any spread of infection. However, when I went to the doctor about it, she told me it was not herpes as I had thought, it was acne. Is it possible that the two conditions present as the same?

I was diagnosed with HSV2 about a month ago, during which I had my first classic outbreak. I got it from my boyfriend, who did not know he had it at the time. I was tested negative for HIV, hepatitis, and syphilis at the time I was diagnosed. During my primary outbreak, I must have somehow touched the sores or the fluid and in the same week one large blister appeared on both my left wrist and left leg at the same time. I was put on Valtrex for 10 days and the genital region cleared up pretty quickly, but the ones on my wrist and leg took longer and I don't think they ever fully healed because there was always a red spot in those areas.
This past Saturday it came back but only on my wrist and my leg, not in the genital area. It started as just itching then by Sunday there was an appearance of a cluster of blisters in each area, where the first time there was only one in each spot. I went for a follow up appointment to my gynecologist two days later and showed him the blisters. But he was not very helpful; he said he only deals with the genital region and I had to see an infectious disease doctor. He gave me a permanent Valtrex prescription to take daily and I've been on it for 4 days so far and did the swab test on my wrist to confirm it was herpes. I could not get an appointment with the ID doc for another two weeks, and Tuesday night the spot on my leg was huge and red and swollen with cellulitis all over the area. It is on my lower calf close to my ankle, but I'd say the entire surface area that is infected is about the size of my fist. I went to the ER and they tried to tell me it was a staph infection despite hearing my story and put me on an antibiotic without answering any of my herpes related questions. It has been 4 days since I'm on Valtrex again and I've kept the area bandaged at all times and worn pants and long sleeve shirts.
Sorry for all the background, but I thought it would be helpful info to best answer the questions I have. I am concerned that for the rest of my life I'm just going to be a walking contagion that can spread the virus to everyone without knowing it, since HSV2 spreads frequently asymptomatically. I know that Valtrex reduces the number of outbreaks I'm going to have, but I'm more concerned with the areas on the exposed parts of my body and want to know exactly which parts are contagious to others and if I'll be able to tell or I will have to keep both areas covered the rest of my life.
My appointment with the ID doc isn't for another two weeks, and I cannot wait that long to have these questions answered because I'm getting sick over this.
These are my questions (please only answer if you've experienced this yourself or you are an MD, I know it's a unique case):
1. Will the areas on my wrist and leg always be a site for a breakout, and will these areas always have the potential to be shed asymptomatically?
2. What part of the outbreak is actually contagious? Is it anywhere that is red, or is it mainly just the blister itself? Will bandaging only the blistered area during an outbreak protect the virus from spreading to others or can it spread from any part that is red?
3. I've read that once it is in an infected area, the virus can spread to other parts close by on that same area, so is there a potential that the next outbreak will be further spread out on my arm, thus giving my whole arm and leg potential to shed the virus?
4. Will it always break out in those spots? I find it curious that this second outbreak (or continuation of a primary outbreak) only appeared in those spots and not the genital region.
5. I know women with HSV 2 can still have babies, but I'm concerned that if I have it on my wrist that I will never be able to hold a newborn baby. I know obviously if I have visible sores that I should avoid a baby at all costs, but what about when there is nothing there and it sheds without me knowing?
6. I'm concerned about it spreading to other parts of my body. I know auto inoculation is rare after the first outbreak, but my wrist is too close to my face for me to be comfortable.
7. What about shaving my legs? I know when there is an outbreak I should avoid the area completely, but when there is nothing there can I still shave over the area or will that spread the virus to other parts of my leg?
8. Manicures/pedicures used to be a huge part of my life. I would never want to infect anyone with this disease. Would it be safe to tell them to only touch my hands and my toes, or is this too risky?
9. My gyno placed me on a permanent Valtrex prescription. Is there a risk associated with becoming too dependent on antiviral meds, or a chance that the disease will become resistant to the medicine? I've also read that being on permanent antivirals can cause the virus to mutate and cause different strains.
I know this will probably take anyone forever to read, but I had to get this all out because these questions have been running through my mind for days and no doctor I've talked to so far has been able to answer them.

About a month ago, I got a few tiny bumps, or what appeared to be small blisters, on the top of my vagina. They slightly itched when irritated by my clothing, but if I touched them, rubbed them, or slightly itched them, it would kind of start to burn. I popped them in hopes of relieving some of the pain and irritation, which did seem to help. When I started googling what it could possibly be, everything lead the "Herpes." I am sexually active, but I am married and have been for two years now. My husband and I split up at the end of last year for about two months where we had both been with other people, me with one, him with two. So, seeing that these blisters automatically make people think herpes has me severely worried. I went to my doctor and they had already scabbed over by then, so she said she couldn't be completely sure, and to come back if they appeared again. Well, I noticed them again yesterday afternoon. It's a small cluster of about 5 of them. I left them alone until I went to bed (because I was very busy yesterday), but they started itching and bothering me in my sleep. I woke up and went to the restroom, where I popped them. It relieved some of the irritation, but they began to itch. I didn't mess with them, or even itch them. I just went back to sleep. Today I'm worried all over again about what this could possibly be. I set up an appointment with my doctor for later this afternoon, but I was hoping to possibly get some answers before then.
I do shave, so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it. My husband and I were tested by our doctors for STD's after we got back together and everything came back negative, except for Chlamydia, which we got treated for. So, I'm really hoping it's not herpes.

What kind of illness or insect could cause small insect bites to blister on the bite site? After being bitten a blister appears on the skin at the site of the bite after a couple of days, followed by new blisters forming around this bite site a further few days later. Skin appears red and site is painful, blisters are about 1cm in diameter and half a cm in height, newly formed blisters appear much smaller. This insect bite would have been contracted in a central American country such as Guatemala.

A few years ago, one night I was masturbating and on approximating climax, a burning pain struck on the tip of my penis. I remember the days after, my urethra opening was red, swollen (the skin looks like lips) with urge to urinate (and no urine came out) and also a small burning feeling when peeing that I sometimes continue to feel today. The fake urge to urinate passed with time but the redness and swollen is still there.
I was virgin back with no sexual activity besides masturbation, so I think it's not STD.
I then went to my family doctor and he saw my penis and said that it was caused by friction and it was nothing to worry about, prescribing me Nupercainal cream. The cream helped with the redness and swollen when I used it for 1 month I think, but after I stopped using it, it return to the previous red and swollen state.
I went to another doctor who prescribed Hidalone Hydrocortisone and Sertopic antifungal cream. But it did not help.
I feel no pain in ejaculation, never had blood on urine/semen or discharge. Sex is normal, no pain associated. Just the damn redness and swollen urethra lips, and some burning sensation sometimes when urinating.
I am now preventing myself from masturbation or sex to see if it makes a difference.

Does anyone know why this could be. I've only recently started retracting my foreskin (I'm 18)- and have noticed my meatus is swollen at the bottom, especially on the left side. It is so swollen that it sticks out. I can't retract my foreskin back far - I think this is because I have a very short frenulum (aka banjo string)- so I was wondering if the aggravation is because my frenulum is pulling the meatus. My meatus doesn't sting or burn although it is very sensitive.
Btw-it's definitely not an std & my penis doesn't have a lot of discharge or strong foul smell.

I'm a 16 year old male, first time being here. So, I have a problem to talk about since I feel like I might enter the sexual contact stage of my life soon. I have these "lips" around my meatus for about a year or more, but never really noticed them until the last couple of days. Never had any sexual intercourse before. I've done some research on some random forums and came to a conclusion that these appeared from my harsh and rough masturbation, sometimes to the point of the meatus kind of splitting a bit, washing penis glans and meatus with soap after masturbation. It doesn't really hurt, but this morning it kind of swollen up a lot more because I've washed off smegma the day before and the skin didn't really retract and cover the "lips", so it was super sensitive. I've read somewhere that I might be stuck with this for the rest of my life. Are there any ways to treat this? I'm very anxious about everything in life, suffer from a few anxieties and depression.

Unprotected Oral, Swollen Meatus
I'm an otherwise healthy white male. I received unprotected oral sex from another man in April of 2014.
I started feeling irritation in the meatus and severe burning pain in the thighs when sitting. At the STD clinic my urine was tested, all results negative but gave me the standard 2 pills and a shot to clear anything that may be there. No relief was had from irritation sensation in penis and pain sitting, went to a urologist who tested my prostate, negative. Tried antifungals with no relief. Went through a round of Cipro (2 weeks) and a round of Doxycycline (28 days), again with no relief. Herpes test at 3 months, negative for both HSV1 and HSV2. No visible sores or other symptoms to make me believe it's herpes.
The pain subsided for roughly 3 months out of nowhere. In October of 2015 it returned, worse than ever.
Main symtoms:
Extreme pain/burning when sitting. When I get up and look in the mirror, below the glut folds are extremely red. Area around anus is also red, sometimes extends up towards the lower back in crack.
Swollen/irritated meatus. Worse after masturbation. Clothing now irritates it, have been using diaper rash cream but does not help.
Trickling when peeing
Pain in lower abdomen, switching between left and right sides, left side seems affected most
Occasional lower back pain
Pesky armpit rashes that seem to go away and then come back
Swollen uvula
As I mentioned, tests early on came back negative, and the medications I've been on since should have wiped out the curable STDs. My question, can I rule out STDs completely? Any ideas on what this problem could be?

22y/o male, suffering constant pain of meatus and testicles.
Pain includes:
-Constant stinging meatus
-Burning only at the tip of meatus while urinating
-Testicular soreness
-Red "u"-shape under meatus lips
-Extreme tenderness underneath penis when touched
-Extreme burning at tip of penis during/after masturbation
I have been suffering with this problem for one month now, after initially experiencing chafing at the tip of my penis while running. One week after the chaffing began, the meatus began swelling, and other symptoms have appeared since then. I have had not been sexually active for over 3 years. One of my co-workers (which I share a computer with) contracted a chlamydia/gonorrhea type STI/STD. I have been cleared via 7 urine tests and 4 blood labs of any STD/STI/UTI/kidney sediment, etc. I have been gone through 2 antibiotics (doxycycline/metronidazole) w/ no relief. I have read extensively on these forums of this similar issue and am curious if anyone has found any luck or results that could help me narrow this down. I appreciate your time and hope you all find relief for any symptoms you may have.

I have a mild Hypospadias in my penis. It's just about close to the normal area where it is actually suppose to be. So was just wondering if thats normal for a guy at the age of 29. When I pee it sprays and I'm very embarrassed about it. My partner keeps telling me to go in and get it looked at, but I feel scared because I do not know what the doctor is thinking when he or she takes a look at it. When I did go in to the doctor to get it looked at the doctor said that there is nothing that they can do to fix it, so he gave me Flomax to take which will help me urine straighten out when I have to go.

In October last year I had a urethral dilatation after suffering from continual uti's which my urologist said was due to a narrow urethra.Since then I have had a number of episodes of incontinence both urge and stress which is making my life hell.
Has this happened to anybody else?.The infections have stopped but the incontinence is far worse

my son was diagnosed with Hypospadias after a lot of pushing by me and my husband all medical staff thought there was nothing wrong we new there was and eventually got transferred to Mr Malone at Southampton he new what he was talking about. Our son had the snood grass procedure at 13 moths old and recuperating wasn't nice but the hospital were great. There was no talk about what would happen in the future and we were sent on our way.Our son is now 10 yrs old and I went to see our dr concerning puberty, our son has quite a small penis maybe an inch long, this didn't seem to concern the dr no mention of whether this is a micro penis and she just said keep an eye on what happens through puberty.NO HELP whatsoever.I have read about hormones being tested and things to do with testosterone but I don't really know if I should push this because I'm not great at explaining this.I am absolutely dreading him going to 2ndary school he's very sensitive about life in general and his penis size has not started to become an issue yet he's still a child but you know what kids are like any feedback would be lovely no one else to talk to.

I have been experiencing numerous symptoms since a brief encounter consisting of unprotected oral and protected vaginal sex on February 20th.
Day after encounter:-
Itchy mons pubis
Day 2-3:
The tip of my penis felt numb. I'm pretty sure I felt tingling at the base of the scrotum, which may or may not be irrelevant.
Days 4-12:
The tingling in my urethra turned into continuous burning--not any worse when urinating--which the doctor at CityMD didn't have much to say about.
Small papules formed on my upper inner thighs. The doctor prescribed me hydrocortisone, which has been somewhat helpful. My thighs still feel chaffed sometimes, but this could be unrelated. My scrotum was bright red and scaly. A different doctor (at a different CityMD) prescribed econazole, which has been fairly helpful.
Days 13-17 (current day):
The burning in my urethra has turned into more of an "ache", and has become more intermittent.
My tailbone just recently started aching, and I have been constipated, but both of these things could be irrelevant.
Throughout all of this I have had an inflamed/swollen meatus, a wrinkly/shriveled glans, and particularly dribbly clear pee left over when I go to the bathroom. If the dribbly clear pee is considered discharge it is watery odorless discharge.
My fear has been that the symptoms not explainable by the fungal infection are due to an atypical presentation of HSV-1 or HSV-2, or perhaps some other virus. There have not been any lesions, but the tingling testicles early on and the current tailbone (proximal to the sacral ganglia?) pain seem like they could plausibly be nerve-related.
I have also read about other things, like Mycoplasma genitalium and Trichomonas. I don't know if these possibilities are worth exploring or not. I am pretty sure I want a type specific IGG test for herpes 1 & 2 in any case. Could this somehow be prostate related?
One more thing: While I have not gotten any results back from my full panel STD test at CityMD, I am pretty it'll come up clean. My partner from the 20th had clean results. Also, for what it's worth, my urinalysis didn't show anything obvious at CityMD. I have not taken any antibiotics.

I am new to using urethral sounds recreationally. I have read on several sounding websites that using Vaseline as a lubricant is discouraged, but no one states the reason.
Why can't I use Vaseline as a urethral lubricant?

I had stenosis/stricture urethra (N35) and some urinary infection because of it during a period of 2 years while doctors didn't give me right diagnosis.
Consequence is low testosterone and erectile dysfunction.
At the end they managed to discover the true problem and performed uretrotomia etc.
I still have erectile dysfunction and low testosterone and I am getting treatment because of it.
Is this condition curable and how long will it take me to recover testosterone and be cured of erectile dysfunction?
