A genetic test has just come back that I have this. Can someone help me understand this and is this why I'm exhausted all the time.

View 6 RepliesI am a 25 year old Male from Ireland (both parents are Irish) and I recently attended the doctor because I found two lumps, one under each armpit (one painful, one not). I asked the doctor what this could be and she told me they were probably blocked sweat glands. She wrote a prescription for some antibiotics and that was almost that. Before I left, I also mentioned that I had been getting persistent pressure like headaches in the top right corner of my forehead. They were not severe, merely an annoyance but their persistence was what worried me.
When I told the Doctor this she said it would be best if I had blood tests done.
I had the tests done and everything came back normal apart from my Iron levels. My transferrin Saturation was at 61%. My iron level was 36.8 umol and my TIBS was at 61 as well.
The doctor wrote on the results that a transferrin saturation above 55% was highly indicative of Hereditary Hemochromatosis (94% predictive).
I spoke with my parents and asked if there was a family history and found out that in fact, my whole family have a history of low iron levels and vitamin B12 deficiency.
The same applied with my brothers and sisters (family of 5).
Shouldn't there be a history of at least one family member with high iron levels?
Is there any way that transferrin saturation levels can be raised temporarily and result is a flawed blood test?
I gave a second blood test yesterday but was told that the screening process for hemochromatosis takes 10-12 weeks.
I have read up so much about the disease in the past two days and have really worried myself so if you have any information or previous experience it would be great if you could share.
Could any of the following have affected my results:
I Binge Drink once a fortnight/month
I Smoke 10-15 a day
I Eat a lot of takeaway food.
I Was taking Centrum Advance supplements sporadically in the lead up to the blood test.
This has been a wakeup call for me so I immediately quit smoking and focused on improving my diet.
I have been to Dr about my long list of peri menopausal symptoms.
My main symptom at the moment is the constant tiredness, shaky jelly like feeling whenever I do small tasks.
I am finding everything difficult & have to pace myself throughout the day to the basic things that have to be done. Taking hours to restore my strength after doing a small task ie preparing veg, cleaning bathroom, hoovering, showering, hanging out the washing.
I have had lots of blood test but nothing showing. My FSH is 15.5 Dr said it shows i'm not menopausal that my ovaries are working, but obviously at almost 53 peri menopause. Does anyone know anything about FSH?
My Iron is 29 although at the lower end of the scale not anemic. My B12 is fine.
I take B6, a multi vit, iron tablets, Chia seeds, Flax seeds.I have been taking Magnesium citrate for a week now & because i cannot cope with the tiredness I am going to try HRT (although always been opposed to it) I have to wait until my next period before I can start on it.
Does anyone know anything else i can try? & is anyone else feeling this extreme tiredness during peri?
I'm not depressed & have very little anxiety my only anxiety is could this be anything else other that peri menopause!
anemia and iron overload at the same time.
View 7 RepliesI'm 15 years of age and I'm seeing the first signs of baldness, with some hairline recession and the sensitive sensation. My hair loss is hereditary. My mom also had the same issue and she did a hair transplant surgery with the help of an expert surgeon in the Seager medical group, Toronto. I wonder whether I'm able to do the same at this age. I don't want to be bald at this age, it's affecting my confidence. Any thoughts?
View 1 RepliesI have had a cholesteatoma three times now and was wondering if it was hereditary? as my little girl has had some hearing problems (only minor) but hoping that it is not?
View 1 RepliesAre brain tumors hereditary? My Dad my Brother and just now, my nephew died from one.
View 1 Repliesare fibroids hereditary?
View 1 RepliesI have been in pain for about 8 years now. Whole body hurts, mainly back, traps and neck. Dry mouth and down there where it matters. I never feel good, cant remember when last I did. Often dizzy, always very tired, I can't exercise at all, used to be a personal trainer and now I can't even walk to the shop. I feel dead and hating every minute of it. Don't have a lot of faith left in doctors as they have been giving me quite the run around. Now, I am on a mission to sort all this out, went for blood test, twice and both times came back positive for Sjogren's, but the Rheumatologist still doesn't think I have it as I don't have dry eyes. Can I have it without dry eyes? I don't even want to ask her questions anymore, seems like you not supposed to ask doctors questions, just sit, listen, accept and feel like poo for the rest of your life. I also have 0.00 testosterone.

View 7 RepliesI am a 32 year old female. My question relates to Exercise Intolerance. I am very unfit and am wanting to get fit for the first time in my life but whenever I start even an easy exercise program, I get really wiped out. I usually feel okay after my "workout" (barely a plausible term) session, but feel extremely fatigued the next day. Which interrupts my program. This can be very irregular tho, sometimes I can do quite a bit and feel fine the next day. I had bulimia, starting at age 17 for 10 years and am wondering if this is still the effects on my body. I have no other side effects from the bulimia. Apart from that I have suffered Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, but these symptoms disappear if I don't exercise. I have had my heart and lungs checked out, blood tests etc, all come back fine. Can someone please, please shed some light as to why I get so exhausted following even a small amount of exercise. It doesnt seem to matter be it cardio or weights.
View 1 RepliesOkay so I had gotten an infection from my nuvaring so me and my husband decided that I just was going to stop birth control completely that we are ready for a baby when it happens. We have been having unprotected sex and I have now been off of it for two weeks. A week after I got off of it I had no symptoms except for very light pink spotting. This week is a different story. My breast are sore
I have had stomach problems like back and forth between constipation and diarrhea
I am absolutely exhausted. I go to sleep early, wake up late, and still need a nap.
My lower back aches pretty much all day.
And I feel like my emotions are going crazy. Some days I want to cry, some days I want to yell, some days I love everything.
I don't feel like I could have gotten pregnant that fast but these symptoms seem a little extreme to just be from coming off of my birth control.
I've been feeling weird last few days, cold shivery but I've made myself swim and do yoga....just feel so very low today, its tiring typing this....have a few family stresses....I feel my heart is tired and sore and empty.....don't know whether to rest or go out, I just feel mentally and physically exhausted and very low.....this journey at times is soul destroying....I have two girls to look after and feel like I don't care.....devastated about this journey today...just want to cry.....I want my lovely nurturing caring hormones back, still in peri but periods closer together.
View 13 RepliesI'm a type 2, and recently, I have been experiencing some issues when I go into some place like Walmart, Target, Sam's Club... I'm okay for about the first ten minutes, but then I start getting sweaty, one of my ears will stop up, and I start losing my energy. By the time I am out of the store, I am starting to be nauseous, and exhausted.
My daughter in law says it could be due to lack of air movement in the stores, but it seems like if that was the case, going out of the store would resolve the issue.
I also have fibro, but as I have only recently been diagnosed with it, I am still not acquainted with all its accompanying issues.
Does anyone know if my problem has to do with either condition?
My daughter was born at 32 1/2 weeks and has very mild cerebral palsy, she is now 17 and experiencing days when she can't get out of bed. She is just exhausted and gets pins and needles. The doctor suggested it could be ME but I wondered if its a result of her Cerebral Palsy. Every time she does something that requires more mental or physical input than normal she is then wiped out for 2 days. Her CP has never really affected her, she wore Piedro boots as a child but recent years has had a "normal" life. Would really appreciate some input, she is due to have an MRI next week.
View 1 RepliesFor the past year, i have been having trouble with my sleep and wake up every morning feeling exhausted and feel very tired throughout the day.
There seems to be an issue with my sinus as i always feel pressure 24/7,almost like a throbbing sensation and when i lye down, my sinus blocks up. So if i were to lye on my left side, my left sinus would block up and if i lye on my right, my right sinus is blocked.
My doctor told me this was caused by allergies, although i have been taking allergy pills, weekly allergy shots, corticosteroids, and tried everything else with zero relief.
I also notice that the back of my neck is always sore and i have constant headaches. When i blow my nose, nothing ever comes out.
Anyone have any advice ? I am so desperate for a good night sleep.
Hi guys , the weird symptoms I am having is that I am becoming often distant from I what seemed be my body. It's weird. I'm incredibly weak as well , the feeling of generally feeling exhausted when standing up. I'm making myself panicky that this could be the end of a horrendous illness no one has ever picked up. I'm just not feeling at all right. I also get pain in the middle upper of my chest. Do any other of yous experience these symptoms
View 3 RepliesWhy is it that I can have such a hard time starting a stream when visiting the toilet during the night (after having been asleep for several hours) and have little problem during the daytime when awake and alert? As I see it this has less to do with BPH than with mind/body connections.
View 32 RepliesThere is a red bump that came up on my butt cheek it looked like a mosquito bite but got a few more around it thought it might of been ringworm bc it looked like a circle I scrubbed the area with bleach, I know that wasn't smart but it went away and let a slight dark spot on the area well the bump comes back from time to time in the same spot what is it? It's a Lil itchy only when I think about it but it's the same as before except it just had a few Little bumps around the middle bump.
