I have read that the p24 antigen test can detect HIV in its early stages, prior to an assay test. Approximately from about 10 days to 4 weeks after exposure.
However, I have read on countless occasions people saying that it is not to be considered when diagnosing or detecting HIV. I just find it a little confusing. If there's no point relying on it, then why use it?
I recently had one day combined with an assay at 9 days post exposure. I know this is too soon for results however, I guess it will be good for a baseline. I will be retesting at 3 months.

I want to get tested for HIV. I had my last intercourse 3 months back. I want to go for HIV 1&2 P24 antigen screening test. Is that test accurate? What if the test comes negative? Don't I have to take any further tests?

I recently conducted Accuracy for HIV 1 p24 antigen /HIV -1/2 Antibody Screening post 18th day after the exposure. My exposure was french kissing and handjob. Can you tell me the conclusiveness of the test? Post 24 day after exposure I requested HIV RNA quantitative test which is today. What is the possibility of RNA to predict positive results? RNA testing has high chances of false positive why is that?
My symptoms:
Sore throat after 2 days after exposure which was up and down and now almost gone so far.
Headache and fatigued sometime. Earache, neck pain and lower abdomen pain. Took some antibiotics in between.

I've made progress with my stage 3-4 internal hemorrhoid, though I thought I never would. Three months ago I went to two doctors who had a look, and said I needed serious surgery--rubber-band ligation would not work, and neither would THD. Since my insurance only covers work done in California (I am living in Michigan temporarily), I ruled out the $11,000 procedure.
My life was pretty much wrecked by the grape-sized hem that had to be pushed back into my anus pretty much constantly, and which made walking and standing unbearable.
From a variety of sources, here is the routine I've put together which has helped:
1. Every morning I take a stool softener, 500 mg. of magnesium, and a mineral supplement with copper and zinc. Also 2 big fish oil capsules every morning, and 2 more at night.
2. I can't eat foods that irritate my hem, so I don't: chocolate, nuts, coffee especially. And I avoid wheat products most of the time.
3. I do all the usual dietary things to avoid constipation: oatmeal, prunes, flax seed, green vegetables, fruit, yogurt, etc. (but I'd already been doing these things for years with no help for the hemorrhoid).
4. I put turmeric in something every day: salad dressing usually, but also in soups.
5. Stopped wearing anything tight around my waist.
6. This one's weird, but essential: I began talking nicely to my anus. However you do it, you have to start respecting this organ and stop taking it for granted.
7. Trying (always trying) to reduce stress, and get more sleep. This is nearly impossible in my life right now, but any small improvement helps.
8. A hot bath in the morning, and another hot bath at night.
After about 2 1/2 months of doing all this, the hemorrhoid has shrunk about 75%, and I don't have to push it in anymore, except rarely. I did use the crushed aspirin technique a lot before, but don't need to now. I can't emphasize enough how severe my case was, and how the quality of my life had been reduced to zero. I'd tried all the creams and preparations (prescription and nonprescription) and all of them are a complete waste of money.

Around 15 years ago I had a vasectomy, which the next day hemorrhaged, requiring a second operation.
All was quiet down below until 9 years later from nowhere I had a nasty case of left side epidemiologist. 4 courses of antibiotics finally cleared that up, but left swollen epidermis and chronic pain. 18 months later the right side also became infected (you will know by the level of swelling).
Also at the same time I found that I had a mild bleeding disorder (hence the initial hemorrhaging), which meant I was banned from all NSAID's (Ibuprofen, naproxen etc)
After that period I had the all-to familiar chronic pain, for which I took increasing strength coedene and even tried acupuncture which did help a little.
All the same depressing story as other posts, except that 18 months ago I feel had a major breakthrough in life which I would like to share....
I knew that the main cause of the pain is inflammation, and given that I can't take NSAID's I researched what I could achieve by changing my diet.
The result has been fantastic, the pain is still there in the background but I don't have to notice it, and my swelling has gone down a lot. I have a very active sex life and still don't sink back into the abyss of pain.
If you are interested the following foods I would recommend in order of effectiveness.
1. High strength fish oil (buy the best you can afford)
2. Turmeric
3. Shiitake mushrooms
4. Broccoli
5. Green tea
6. Avocado
If I have a flare up every day I take a full dose of the fish oil, eat 60 grams of shiitake mushrooms (cooked with 1 tsp of turmeric). Also I will eat a whole broccoli a day & drink copious amounts of green tea. If is really bad I also include the avocado.

I have had a root canal followed by crowning of my molar tooth a few years ago. After accidentally biting hard an abscess has formed at the base of the tooth between the root and jawline causing my tooth to be lifted slightly out of its socket that causes pain if the upper tooth touches it. Of course the obvious solution would be an extraction as I'm not interested in redoing a root canal but if there's any alternative or natural treatment worth trying before that then I'd be happy to give it a try.

I was wondering what if anything natural has anyone taken or done for your hot flashes, please?
I don't smoke, drink soda or any type of alcohol. But I like to have at least one cup of tea in the morning. And, this perimenopause monster is trying to take even my cup of tea away from me.

I've been diagnosed with hyperparathyroidism on Thursday 5th of November, I was wondering if anybody has had natural treatment for this please?
In the meantime I'm going ahead with being put on the waiting list for an operation, I have my ultrasound scan tomorrow, Tuesday the 24th of November .
It would be good to hear from those members who have used natural treatment for primary hyperparathyroidism and to find out how you are getting on now please ?
I have had "M.E. " for 19 years , I'm being treated naturally, this helps with my weight and also some of the other symptoms , however I'm still not well enough to work and need help at home etc

I was put on antibiotics and steroids for an infection, but now I'm dealing with what I assume is a rather large hemorrhoid. My anus is very swollen and tender, but there is no itching or bleeding. I got some OTC cream but it's not helping...same with a warm bath and using wipes instead of tissue. I would feel silly going to the doctor for this, especially because I don't have a trusted GP, and my "lady" doctor says it's not their problem. Can you even have a hemorrhoid without itching? The pain is unbelievable, and comparable to the level of pain associated with my c sections. So what should I do? And do you have anything that works for you? Natural methods preferred.
