Hemorrhoids :: Bright Red Blood Drops In My Stool
Sep 19, 2015
Firstly let me explain how it all started. It started a year ago in August 2014, when i found bright red blood drops in my stool. I got really worried. It happened for a couple of days and stopped. Then again after 6 months or so, in Jan2015, it again happened, the bright light drops of blood in stool. This time i straight away went to a gastro doc for a checkup. He recommended the colonoscopy exam. I did that and the report came up with internal hemorrhoids upto acceptable limit. He gave me some laxatives and told me to visit again after 6 months if problem persists. It agian happened after 6 months in June for a week or less. But now, it is again happening after every 1 month. I had it for a week in July, couple of days in August and now from a week or so, in this month too. For this month, i had blood stool for a couple of days and it stopped and now again today it came back, minor. Please let me know if this in any way normal. I fear sometimes that if it's something else than the hemorrhoids, that maybe the exam didn't catch it well or i need to get the exam from a second doc for reassurance, though i have had no other symptons as of yet.
Please advise on this. I feel quite stressed out when it happens. I have these bad thoughts too of cancer and start browsing the net for it.
I have no drinking/smoking and drug habits. I have started eating fruits daily in breakfast, though sometimes i can't avoid my urge to eat non-veg food. i also do regular weight lifting exercises. I am quite a gym addict. I read that lifting heavy weights also cause this. Please i don't want to give up my passion. Please advise.

I am posting this because I suspect that I have piles. It all started with minor constipation and with in 2 days it got severe (when I say constipation I mean hardness to pass stool). However, I still go to the loo daily. Anyway, long story short, I have been having severe bleeding, pain and constipation for over a month now. Without having a break. I suspect its piles because it runs all along my dad's family. But I am starting to fear this as it hasn't gone away yet. Is this normal? The blood is fresh and bright. However the pain at the bottom is unbearable. I am already taking enough amount of insoluble fibre, drinking plenty of water, and always had gone to the gym on daily basis. Could anyone throw light on this scenario and tell me if this is normal? I am thinking about going to GP but my work doesn't provide me the chance to do so.

After a bout of constipation early this year (I was on a liquid diet because of a throat issue and didn't consume much fiber for 2 weeks), I had 2 bowel movements with a little bright red blood either on the stool or the toilet paper. Started consuming more fiber, it got better for a few months...2 months ago, had a day where I hardly had any water during the day (was out and busy and it just slipped my mind except when I was super thirsty), then I had a little bright red blood again. Today, I was riding a bike, my butt started to hurt. Shortly thereafter, I pooped with a little blood on it. My mom has battled hemorrhoids since she was in college. Do you think I have hemorrhoids or should I be more worried?
No vomiting or diarrhea, no unexplained weight loss or fatigue, no consistent changes in stool size or shape...On occasion, I'll feel a burn when pooping.

I have ulcerative colitis and for the past 3 months I've been having streaks of blood on the outside of the stool. Sometimes I wouldn't even notice it if I wasn't looking for it. Then I went through a period where I was having mucus on the outside of the stool as well. I also feel like the amount of times I go to the bathroom started to increase. My doctor thought I had a fissure so he had me take miralax for awhile. When my stool wasn't formed I couldn't see any blood but I'm not sure if there really was any or not. I've also started have stools that were thinner since January. Not every time but a lot. I started Rowasa enemas in the end of December which did seem to stop the mucus for the most part and the stomach aches but not the blood. About a week and half ago I called my doctor because I had two days in a row that I went to the bathroom ten times (for me this isn't normal) so he decided that I need to schedule a colonoscopy which I will have done in about two weeks. But since I've spoken with him i haven't had another day of ten times but still having thin stools and streaks of blood. Should I still have a colonoscopy? I just don't want to do it for nothing.....

I had this stool with bright red blood yesterday and today. I couldn't tell how much blood there is but the water became bright red with 50% visibility (I looked at the stool ). I don't feel any pain and I feel nothing at all on my body. The day before I had the stool with blood, I drank four cups of green tea. I know tea is acidic but I am not sure if this is the cause of it. My urine is fine and without blood.

I'm new here but from what I've read I'm probably far from the first person to post about this. I'm just looking for other peoples advice/experience to help calm my nerves.
About me, I am male and 25 yo average weight/height.
For the past few months I've been having some bowel problems. Starting around October last year I began having on and off issues with some slight indigestion and small amounts of bright red blood when I had a BM. These issues would come and go. I had a small issue similar to this in 2014 and had a colonoscopy performed to check. The test didn't find anything out of the ordinary. In November of last year I had a Flexible Sigmoidoscopy performed due to the recent issues. This test came back saying that I had internal hemorrhoids but nothing else. I didn't do much to treat them and just sort of hoped they'd go away.
The mild issues continued until about late January/early February when I was hit with a week long bout of indigestion, excess gas etc. As these issues continued the bleeding ramped up until I was seeing bright red blood staining the toilet bowel each time I had a BM. It didn't seem like an immense amount of blood but it was enough to tint the water and toilet paper red. Due to these issues I went back to GI doctor around the second week of February. He did an examination with his hand and noted that I had internal hemmies and slight inflammation. He pointed this out as the most likely cause of the bleeding given the results of my previous tests. He recommended I start taking Konsyl fiber supplement and Preparation H suppositories.
After starting with the suppositories the indigestion and excess gas went away as well as the excess blood. My usual BM schedule resumed (1/day). Since then however I still see small streaks of what looks like bright red blood with each BM. Some days are not as bad as others but it seems like there is always a small amount of blood there. I've also had an intense itching sensation down there that would come and go every once in a while. Like I said before for the last 2 months I've been going at the same rate and the stool consistency is normal. I don't seem to have any excessive pain or weight loss.
My main question is for anyone who has had hemorrhoids. Can bleeding last this long? One thing I've noticed is that I seem to have fairly large/hard stools which I think may be causing trouble. I wouldn't call it constipation exactly just that the stools are large/dry and often require some light straining to expel. I also work a desk job and have a 2 hour daily driving commute. I've recently bought a seat cushion for my chair and car with hopes that it will help.
I'm sorry for the wall of text. I want to get past this but I am an extremely anxious person and this bleed issue is ruining me. I'm scheduled for a follow up with my GI in 2 weeks and am getting the sinking feeling that I'm in for another colonoscopy.
P.S. I've also had an abdomen CT scan in early 2015 due to a separate issue. No problems were found.

I came on my period the 1st of July the 16th I started spotting just bright pink blood every time I wipe and I have cramps on left side what is it?

I had unprotected sex December 5th & 6th, and according to a few period apps I'm about 2 days late - but Friday when my period would be expected I had some blood, enough to just wear one tampon a day and then Saturday and Sunday only a very small amount of bright red blood. I'm not sure if that sounds like spotting or my period, or if that's a sign of pregnancy? I'm not on birth control, a few days before my period was supposed to come I did start an antibiotic and a probiotic for strep throat.

I am 47 years old and haven't had a period for at least 2 years. However, i starting bleeding bright red blood about 3 days ago, and this has been quite heavy as i am normally only very light. It isn't like period blood. This has happened before in this 2 year period and it was bright red then too. i've been on warfarin since last december due to a pulmonary embolism in my lung. Is it necessary to see a doctor, i don't want to feel like i'm making a fuss.

I have had SEVERE piles for the last 5 days. I am only ever away from the toilet or bath for literally 5 minutes at a time before i get an uncontrollable urge to push.
There is a lot of dry flakes of blood that regularly come from the anus, especially while in the bath.
I seen a GP 5 days ago and he prescribed me some suppository and a stool softener but these have had no effect at all.
I telephoned the out of hours NHS direct helpline last night and a GP told me to visit the doctors again when open in 2 days. He suggested to take painkillers such as co codamol but I have read that these should NOT be used when you have piles. I telephoned the out of hours service again a little later and told them EXACTLY what I have written in this post and they told me to just visit the doctor when they reopen in two days time.
I cannot visit the out of hours walk in GP service or go to hospital because the waiting times are so bad that I can't be away from a toilet any longer than, as I said, literally 5 minutes.
I can't help but scream each time I try to pass a stool and when I do it is very small, about the size of a ten pence piece.
My last normal bowel movement was six days ago.
I get spasms and the involuntary urge to push out bright red blood every 10 minutes.

i've been on microgestin fe for four months now and i am on my third week of the pack. after sex, I noticed some light pink discharge. the next day, dark brown blood, and today i am noticing a tiny bit of bright red that contains some mucous. is this due to the hour difference that i am taking my pills since it is daylight savings time? or just a common side effect?

I have been dealing with a small lump around my anus. It has been a year and when i first got it, i looked for it online and the articles that i read all said that the lump will heal by itself. It already been a year and im more of tired of it. It's not painful, but sometimes it does itches, when defecating, sometimes i will find blood on the poo, but all this happens really seldom. The lump does not bother much, but it's been more than a year and it is still there. Sometimes the lump will shrink but sometimes it will grow back, and i really do not know what to do. I am definitely going to see a doctor about it, but i will like to know ideas or anything about what i am dealing with.

So - been to the GP today as had fresh blood from backside now for about 3 days with no pain.
She had a good feel around (much to my dismay!) she said no fissures but that I could 'possibly' have an internal hemorrhoid as she felt something 'squishy' but to be honest... She didn't sound very confident!
She's given me some hydrocortisone suppositories (lovely) and said she hopes the problem will disappear as quickly as it came about.
Other than the fresh blood I have no problems whatsoever and no other symptoms.
Also, she mentioned a camera up the bum if it doesn't resolve or gets worse. Help me god!!!

I am bleeding sizable out of my anus every bowel movement, it's freaking me out. I'm still trying to recover. How should I approach toilet breaks im general? Keep passing stools even as I bleed a considerable amount without a care?
Just a bit of background, I'm currently 18 and male. Since the issue I have right now is more than likely haemorrhoids, I think it's also important for me to say that my granddad died from cancer (specifics which I do not know) but my mum has told me he used to go to the toilet and lose blood to the point of passing out during his battle with cancer.
A few weeks ago, I started to notice small patches of blood on my toilet paper as I wipe, I paid quite little attention to it at first but was absolutely shocked when once, blood started coming out along with the stool. To describe, a line of blood would follow the walls of each stool and blood would drip out from my anus and change the bowl of water into red. The blood is also bright red. There was a slight sting as the stools moved.
I approached my mum who's a trained pharmacist and she diagnosed me with having internal haemorrhoids since there weren't any physical bumps along my sphincter muscles and decided to put me on a good diet. I'm now having quite alot of vegetables and eating a good 8 or so nutritional tablets such as omega oil as an example.
But the problem still persists and I'm still seeing blood. literally in the way I've just described, the problem hasn't returned to its previous condition of just a patches on tissue.
I am absolutely frightened to even use the toilet and it's getting to the point thinking about it makes my heart race and my knees weak. Imagine going to the toilet itself. It's bothering me both physically and mentally. To make things worse, I have my high school finals in just about a week from now!
How do I go about this problem right now? Should I just keep passing stools even when I see blood coming out at a sizable amount?

Since the beginning of July I have been suffering with what I was to believe were piles very sore bottom and sometimes small amounts of blood on wiping, after about a month I went to the docs and saw a nurse prescriber who never did a dre but said I had a yeast infection as had recently finished a course of antibiotics. About a week later they were no better and I thought I might have an anal fissure as it was so painful having a Bm so went back to the doc who did a dre and treated me with rectogesic until I was due to see the gastro doc as I had had a flex sig a year ago and was due a follow up, although weird stuff it seemed to help. 3 days later I saw the gastro guy and he looked with a anal scope and said he could feel 2 hems and to stop taking rectogesic, I then got better for 2-3 weeks and then seemingly had a relapse after being constipated and was straining. So I've used the piles cream had no blood symptoms but can feel 2 little spots just inside rectum and one slightly bigger one further up by the sphincter. The two are pimple sized and the other is pea shaped all are quite hardy sore to touch! I have absolutely no idea what they are or what to do next but they are much sorer after a Bm?? Been to doctors 5 times now with no real solution...
