Hemorrhoids :: THD 12 Days Post Op - Passed A Pile Today?
Sep 8, 2015
I had my THD op 12 days ago. The usual pain and discomfort but no blood until today. Today however I went to the loo and passed enough to make the pan red without straining too much. 4 hours later I passed more with a lump of non poo material in it. Would this be a tied off roid? Bleeding stopped very quickly and no pain. Any ideas?

I have just had 3 hemorrhoids worked on by THD surgery. This was done Thursday (and Saturday). I am on 2 sachets a day of movicol to soften stools but have not passed anything yet. I am eating fruit and little bit of other stuff such as digestive biscuits a little bit of bread etc. is there anything else I can do to help? When is pushing straining? I tried to go earlier and worryingly passed a jelly like lump of something?
The pain is manageable with occasional paracetamol or ibuprofen.

I had my hemorrhoidectomy and they also removed my right ovary in the same operation on 30 March 2016.
It is now 3 April 2016 so it has been 4 days since my op. I had no pain the first 2 days and then the local anesthetic wore off!
Now it is excruciatingly painful. I have found that bathing in a little lukewarm water with 2 hands of salt for 15 minutes help a lot.
And for constipation you can go to your local pharmacy and buy an enima ask them for one that you can drink!
Trust me it is much better than to put a tube up your sore bum!!! The doctor can also prescribe a numbing ointment that helps a lot!!
Goodluck to all my buds out there!!! I know how it feels!!!
One question i have is it normal to still have the swollen loose skin on the outside of your anus?

Surgery was 'success' they were originally planning on putting a bracket on the posterior side but said my bone structure wouldn't allow it or something.
So it was mainly an ALIF but they did go through the back to do some bone grafting, so I have incisions on both sides.
So far so good on recovery, obviously very ginger but have been up and moving since 24 hours after and was in hospital for 2 1/2 days.
Have used painkillers when needed but I plan to take it very easy and not push anything. Doing my regular exercises / walking each day has worn me out pretty good but overall so far so good. ANy questions let me know and I will keep updating this thread over the next couple weeks.

I had THD (sometimes known as HALO) procedure 9 days ago, the last couple of days it feels like i have external haemorrhoids back, my husband says they look like them, large and inflamed!... I'm so upset and frustrated, had been feeling ok as was recovering quite well. Very uncomfortable and painful after bms but i was expecting this and had prepared for it mentally and physically. I've not had to strain when going to toilet, in fact going regularly since 2nd day, so no constipation. I've also had a stitch come out today after bm (surgeon said all my stitches were internally) Has anyone else had any similar experiences??...

I am hoping that someone can give me some advice for this ongoing issue I've had. I have had hemorrhoids ever since I was pregnant with my daughter about 2 1/2 years ago. I had a flex sigmoidoscopy 2 weeks ago and they banded 1 internal hemorrhoid. However, I have external piles as well. I have done everything I can to get rid of them but I'm not having much luck. I have been prescribed suppositories and doing those 2x daily, taking miralax to keep my stools soft, fiber pills, water, diet change, sitz bath, and also prescribed a triamcinolone cream that I apply about 5x a day. I'm not having much luck at all. I was hoping that with the banding of the internal hemorrhoid it will help the issue but it hasn't changed anything at all. I feel okay when sitting but after standing for 15 min or longer I start to feel the swelling of the thrombosed hemorrhoids and it's painful and uncomfortable. I went back to the gastroenterologist last week and they said to continue what I was doing and that the hemorrhoid wasn't quite large enough to lance to drain it.

it's been 7 days since the op. No pain to speak of, discharge is minimal. My concern is BM size. Before the op they were brown and had a sizeable girth.
Post op they are orange (probably the Fybogel drink) but a lot narrower. We are talking the cross section of a thumb. Passing them takes a lot of effort, particularly when the mantra is "don't strain". Problem I the pressure bearing down.

Surgery was 13DEC. Today is the 15th day post op for a right ankle arthroscopic debridement, microfracture, and lateral ligament Brostrom procedure.
Last night due my "support" person taking a "personal day" I took it upon my self to take out the trash. I had my first post op this past Monday and the stitches were removed. I'm suppose to be NWB for 6 weeks post op and as of Monday wearing my aircast 24/7 except for showering.
I'm now wondering if I screwed the microfracture up. There is no increase in pain or swelling.
Small background- My husband is my support person but he has decided that he wants a divorce and a social life. Since my surgery he has found it necessary to stay the night at a hotel for at least 4 nights and be gone all day. His response is that he isn't here to babysit me or sit with me 24/7. We have a 6 year old home on winter break as well. We are in Minnesota with no family close and of course it's the middle of winter.

I've recently undergone a circumcision and have some queries however the surgeon who performed the surgery is on annual leave for a week. A few days after the procedure I noticed something wasn't quite right so I went to ED and as suspected had an infection. Would the fact that I had an infection mean that it could heal slower/incorrectly. I ask as one side of the stitches seems to be a little stretched and not sitting as tight as the other side. I was also prescribed oral antibiotics as well as an antibiotic cream by the ED doctor. I was told to take the oral antibiotics for 5 days but was given enough for 10 days by the pharmacist. Would there be any harm in taking the antibiotics for the full 10 days?

I ceased heavy pain medication a couple of weeks ago and that was a mistake. I am back on Norspan 10 mg patches and can now do all my exercises and achieve a few hours sleep before I need to top up with a Tramadol. I've lost 12 kgs in weight simply because my appetite diminished but now I'm trying to eat 3 meals a day and include protein at every meal instead of nibbling and feeling like I want to sleep all day.
I am allergic to many pain medications (unknown until post op) so pain was a big issue for me. If you are contemplating TKR's or have already had them, then get your pain medication stabilised and physio will be so much easier. I have also found hydrotherapy (pool walking) to be a god-send. Today is the first day post op that I feel any where like normal. I was a fit, energetic 63 year year old before my op and I hope to return to that state with much improvements in my knees, in the near future. I believe I will be looking at 6 months recovery time before I can resume a "normal" exercise program of spin, walking, boxing and weights.
No one tells you about the pain, the depression, the disruption to your life, especially not your surgeon. Just be patient, eat well, try to get a walk in each day or a swim and stay positive. At nearly 10 weeks I can see the light at the end of that long tunnel.

Three months post stapled hemorrhoidectomy. Still experiencing terrible pain throughout rectum and butt cheeks. Feels like someone crushed glass, poured alcohol on it, then smeared it inside me. Symptoms indicate prolapse as well, but surgeon has examined multiple times and says that is not the problem. No hemorrhoids present and surgery has healed normally. He does not know what to do though. I did have similar pain for many years before the surgery, but more like sand paper was rubbing against my skin and rectum and only half as painful. Anyone else with this experience?

i had the op 5 days ago, has been 5 horrible horrible days. Lots of very bad pain, etc.
now I have had traces of blood in all my stools. And have kept myself regular with movicol. But today, I had to 'push' ever so slightly nothing major, I couldn't stop it. Wasn't a major push ,etc and out popped a tiny more condensed poop.
its about 4 hours later, and was back on the pot, and was feeling like I needed to go, it felt watery again, and it was again a small bit. But this time a lot of blood. Before there were just streaks but this time it's was just blood instead of the mucous fluid with traces in.
is this normal, ? Due to the earlier little push. I was shocked as it's the most blood I have passed. Should I gear up for more of this and not be worried.
i have stopped the codeine yesterday and just on a ibuprofen . I'm in less pain which is good, but worried I might have torn staple or stitches etc hence more blood and less pain.
i'm waiting for my next bm , but have hardly eaten since the opp, today was a small bowl of all bran this am, I have dropped about 7lbs since opp. I'm going to eat a decent slab of salmon tonight, but worried with the consequences.
