Heart :: Failed Stent By Blood Clot - Trouble Breathing
Jan 12, 2014
I'm 44, athletic, vegetarian, never been hospitalized or seriously sick until Mid-October 2013. In mid October I had a heart attack, doctor put in stent but stent became blocked by blood clot several hours later; they couldn't get it re-opened. So it is permanently blocked...10-15% of my heart is dead. Dr said heart attack was in a good spot and I should do fine without the 10-15% of my heart. EF right before leaving hospital was 48 according to echo, EF at my checkup 5 weeks later was 46 according to an MRI. Because my heart rate was already really "athletic" and my blood pressure was good; the dr just put me on 12.5 mg metoprolol twice a day and of course plavix, aspirin because the heart attack was apparently caused by a large artery which still remains. Anyway, I just started a very low dose of ACE inhibitor Lisinopril (5 mg) about 5 weeks ago. Anyway....
Lately it seems like I have the desire to try to get a deep breath and I can't really. I can breath but it seems limited when I try to breath deeply.
Could this be low blood pressure (I'm really lethargic and dizzy when I first stand up after sitting or laying down)? Or could it be anxiety? When I'm busy doing something it doesn't really seem to bother me.
I know I need the ACE inhibitor and Beta to hopefully help my EF and hopefully keep me from getting worse.

When I have restriction in my breathing it seems to directly effect my heart right away. My heart beat will speed up really fast and be pounding very hard while I feel like I'm breathing through a straw. And when I'm around cigarette smoke I have heart palpitations.
Some times, just the act of standing up will cause my heart to start pounding. Often I notice my pounding heart first before I even realize that my lungs are restricted.
It's like the two go hand in hand. So I think the restriction in my lungs, which can get triggered by physically exerting myself or even standing up, is causing my heart to speed up.
But, the weird thing is, I have asked other people with asthma if their heart beat does that when they are having trouble breathing and they said no. So, I'm wondering why mine does then.

About a week ago I started having pain in my right ankle, it felt cold at first then stiff pain. Over the week the pain has been going up my leg to my thigh. Last night while lying down I had a sudden, crampy pain in my right calf that wouldn't go away and I noticed a bulge had appeared. Circled on my leg.
[URL]..... I'm flexing my calf in the image so it's more prominent. I don't see anything like that on my other leg. walking around today, I can feel my leg is kind of stiff as is my ankle. Could it be a blood clot? or is it just a muscle?

70 year old male in good shape been exercising 6 days a week cardio and weights for the past 5 years or so.Last couple of weeks or started to feel discomfort in my neck and jaw while exercising, it would go away when I stopped. Went to to non interventional cardiologist who ordered up an angiogram which I had 4 days ago. Results were Right artery 99% blocked, LAD 70 % and two other arteries on the left also 70% blocked. Interventional Cardiologist recommended CABG surgery because of multiple artery involvement and that the left arteries were not good candidates for stenting due to the position of the blockage.
My non interventional cardio after conferring with the interventional cardio said that I had options other than CABG. Both doctors agreed that my angina was most likely coming from the 99% right block.
Option is stenting the 99% blocked right and the OMT for the rest. A surgeon was also called in for consultation and neither he or the two other Cardios would predict outcomes or give an opinion as to which course of treatment I should follow. Regardless something had to be done sooner rather than later for the right artery. I sent the pics to another interventional Cardio who validated the position of my non interventional cardio that I do have choices other than CABG and that the which ever decision I would make I would probably have a good outcome. So next week I'm going to have the right artery stented and then medically treat the rest of my disease and see where it goes from there.
I also plan to make major changes in my diet to hopefully control the progression of the disease or even possible improve my condition

On 2/1/14, I broke my tibia (spiral, slightly displaced) and fibula falling off a motorcycle (not at high speed). OS said I didn't need surgery and on 2/3/14 I had a long-leg cast put on. I developed blood clots from the leg which shot to my lungs and OS removed cast early on 3/5. I am now in a walking boot, although I cannot bear weight just yet.
I'm worried about the bone not healing or fusing properly since I am no longer in a cast. Will there be longer healing times since I am no longer in a cast?
X-rays were taking on 3/3 and OS says the bones are back in place nicely but no fusion.

The other day, I checked myself into the hospital because I was having difficulties breathing and a slight chest pain. The doctors ran a plethora of tests, including an EKG, MRI, and X-Rays. All of the tests, according to the doctor, came back "100% normal". The ER staff said there were no signs of anything serious and it should pass. Perhaps it's a muscle being weird or something?
The chest pain is mostly gone but breathing is still a challenge. It's difficult to take a FULL breath. No coughing. No wheezing. Anybody ever experienced this? The other day I went to the grocery store and I was winded afterwards. It does not seem right.
I'm going to see the doctor for a follow up on Monday, and I'm monitoring the situation closely. Are there breathing tests they can have me do? It seems like cardiac-wise everything is fine, but something is still up. I know to go to the ER if it gets too bad, but I'm curious if anybody has seen / heard / experienced something like this.

For about 4 months now, I've been having trouble breathing at work. it started out as 15 minutes to a maximum 1hour. I'm thinking it came around the same time the air conditioning came on at work. Now it can start before my lunch(noon) and go on till I'm home(5:20pm). Which gives me 20 minutes of not being at the office and I can now breath normal that I'm out of the office.

For the last few days its very difficult for me to take a deep breath, or to feel like I have enough air going into my lungs. I'll try to breathe deep and it's like I just can't reach that point. I feel like I'm breathing fine but I could be taking in more air. When I'm laying in bed I can take breaths better if I'm sitting up. It's really aggravating and hard not to notice. It's been staying this way since yesterday and today, other times it was just an off and on type of thing. Another thing I noticed was if I gently press on my chest I feel a slight pain, maybe like pressure, or sensitivity. I don't know what to do about this, and it's really scaring me. I can't imagine having something wrong with me.

I'm 19 years old, female. I think I have anxiety.. Mostly about my health. I'm always freakish out thinking I have cancer or something serious, I make myself think I have something wrong with me.. A few months ago I was sick and I could have gotten better sooner if I didn't worry so much, it took me a month to get better because I kept telling myself I was too sick and I wasn't getting better but once I stopped thinking about it, I got better. Also with my tonsils I always think they're gonna be swollen so they are when I think that. But my worst issue is breathing.. I always feel like I have trouble breathing even when I'm not having an anxiety attack just randomly I'll feel like I'm breathing shallowly or just not getting enough air and when I REALLY think about it I start hyperventilating and almost pass out until I call someone and they tell me to calm down. When I have anxiety attacks I get all shaky, I get dizzy, pale, feel like I'm going to pass out and have really shallow breaths.. Idk what's wrong with me I think it's from my past or because I'm always so stressed out about my family. I also I have a problem going to the bathroom.. Tmi sorry but I can't poop anymore I'm always constipated and it always comes out in balls or logs but lumpy, I really don't know what's wrong with me so if someone could help that'd be amazing. Also, when I was at the ER months ago they checked my lungs and everything and said everything's fine, just said I have low potassium, idek why but when I was sick I didn't eat for a week so maybe that's why?

I can't get a full deep breath after ejaculation and become winded very quickly during exercise thereon after. It generally takes two or three days to recover. I am otherwise in very good shape (23 yr old male) and normally experience no problems during/after intense exercise. It's gotten to the point where I avoid ejaculating during sex because of how much it messes up my breathing during future exercise. Is this normal? If not, any idea what's up?

So, I had bad wheezing after a cold from last winter. A regular doc prescribed me Symbicort. I had been taken it regularly, but recently my wheezing went away, so I stopped taking the Symbicort just to see what would happen with my wheezing.
The wheezing has gradually died down, but now I have trouble breathing at certain times during the day especially at night around 8 o'clock and on. I can't tell if the wheezing going away is a good thing or a bad thing. Also, sometimes, I also feel a murmuring sensation in my upper chest when inhaling.
The biggest thing is when I inhale I don't feel like I'm getting enough air. I want to go to a pulmonologist, but it looks like it might be a while before I'll get in. I have a few doses left of my Symbicort and want to save them.
I'm uncomfortable going to sleep and I'm also nervous about things like the "silent chest" since my wheezing has really died down. It's also really humid where I am right now, so I don't know if that's factoring into my trouble breathing. Lastly, I also have had panic attacks in the past, so I'm always hesitant to go to the doctor over things like feeling like I'm not getting enough air.
How can I tell the difference between a panic attack and asthma?
Do you think it's asthma? Why does it seem to happen from 8 o'clock at night and up? What can I do so I can sleep?

A little less than a month ago now I moved from Florida to high in the Rocky Mountains. I didn't have any unusual trouble with the altitude change at first but about 5 days ago I've suddenly had a lot of trouble with my breathing. I feel like I'm not getting enough air into my lungs, especially when lying down (which makes trying to go to sleep a huge pain). I was actually just trying to sleep a few minutes ago but I couldn't stand it. It felt like I was being suffocated very, very slowly. Even now, typing this while sitting up straight, I still feel a little dizzy. Besides a slight cold there's nothing else wrong with me right now. I've actually always had very good health, and the only other time I've ever had any trouble at all with my lungs was when I got pneumonia when I was 13.
Besides the altitude, the only other thing I can think of is that I was prone to anxiety attacks in high school, and I have been pretty stressed lately, but besides the shortness of breath this just doesn't feel the same.
Does anyone have any ideas what this could be? I really need to get over this quickly because I need my sleep! My new job is physically demanding enough without being tired all the time
