Globus Sensation :: Can Globus Affect One Side Of The Neck?
Jan 20, 2008
I have been suffering with discomfort on one side of my neck more than the other. From reading other peoples experiences they describe more of a central feeling. My doctor thinks I have got globus and has referred me for ENT checks. I am convinced that I have a tumour in my throat and the fear is making the symptoms worse.

for a few weeks now I've felt like I've had a lump in my throat? thought was tonsils but feels.too far bask...put fingers back there to see if I could feel anything and seem to have felt my epiglottis? I can always feel it now at the moment. The only time I feel like it's gone is when I'm Eating or drinking!

I have had a globus sensation that comes and goes. Weird things have been happening since the beginning of the the year. It all started after a took some rounds of antibiotics. My neck started feeling tight around the sides. It started getting worse and after a few months, It got so tight that I went to the ER twice cause I thought I was dying. I have had lots of tests but there are more to do. Ive had 2 barium swallows( one looking for abnormal blockage and on for a hernia), xrays, thyroid blood work, pepsin tests, and 3 scopes, everything came out fine. Ive been to several ENTs and nothing unusual showed up. The specialist assured me its not cancer.
I still haven't done a ph test and haven't had my esophagus scoped, just my throat which has cobblestones in it and also appears swollen at the voicebox.Ive tried reflux medicines on and off during these periods, i was on protonix for a month with no improvement, the doctor did say to stay on it for 3 months but it make me feel nauseous. Perhaps the worst symptom is I have had a sore throat going on 6 months now.
Does anyone with silent reflux also have globus and a chronic sore throat?

I'm a 16 year old female and I have been struggling lately. I am having problems speaking because I stutter and can't remember words. This is very unusual for me. I have a burning sensation on the right side of my head. It comes and goes. It normally starts as a head ache and then into the burning. I already have blood in my stool(doctors couldn't find the source) and don't know what is going on. Any ideas?

Hi, I have been reading this forum for a very long time. I have been on Gabapentin since October 2011. I injured my neck January 2011. Lost the use of my left arm. Had C6-C7 acdf September 2012, fell 3 weeks later due to ataxia that came on after the surgery. X-ray showed everything in place, Cervical MRI showed C5 disk herniated minimally. For the last couple of months I've been losing sensation feeling in my hands sometimes up to my elbows. It goes to one side and the other or both at the same time. My doctor thinks it's a side effect of Gabapentin and my gut says it's not it. Has anyone heard of this side effect? I have not found this loss of sensation as a side effect in my research.

Since February this year I've been suffering with reflux that's been worse than I have ever had it before. Initially I had reflux which seemed to be on one side of my neck only. I was on 20mg of omeprazole for this and it seemed to help but didn't get rid of it completely. For the last couple of months I've been taking the OTC version of Nexium 20mg and this has helped to get rid of the one sided reflux feeling.
However, now for the past week or so I seem to have a pain under my breastbone that comes and goes but is there after I've been eating, or when I move around (but not so bad when i'm standing up).

I am a 20 year old female that has been experiencing pain in the right side of my neck that radiates down my right arm to my fingers for a week or so. This is often accompanied by a burning sensation under my right armpit and down my arm. Today this has been replaced by a tingling sensation on my chest, jaw, arm and occasionally my upper abdomen. This is again all on my right side. I also have a headache. Could this be shingles?

The whole side of my neck is hurting from the base of my skull all the way into my shoulders. Its only been going on for 2 days so far. I am very worried is this something I should be worried about?

I have a dull pain in my right side of my head. I also have pain under my eye on the same side. The eye is watering and I have an on and off runny nose. The back of my neck is also stuff
I'm worried that it may be a tumour even though I've had an eye scan and the only thing wrong was a blurry pupil. (I had the scan after a big migraine on the right side)

Last night, I abruptly developed constant, fairly severe pain on the left side of my head radiating from my jaw (right in front of my ear) to the point where I could feel it in my left upper teeth, and up the back of my neck to the base of my skull. My left ear also felt full, and my throat was constricted. It continued this way for several hours at work until I got home, took Ibuprofen, and iced it. I also noticed a swollen lump (probably lymph node?) halfway down the left side of my neck, towards the back. The lymph nodes under my jaw on the left also feel swollen. Today, it isn't hurting constantly anymore, but the ear fullness and throat constriction is still present, along with the swelling of the lymph nodes. All of these symptoms are localized to the left side. I have a doctor's appointment in a few days, but until then I was wondering if anyone had experienced something similar?

I have been suffering from nerve pain that ran down my left arm and shoulder and fingers from a bulging disc in the C-5- C-6 so i had been taking oxycodone 10-325 but when we decided to do surgery we cut that down to oxycodone 5/325 since that is what the surgeon would be giving me after surgery so i said okay no problem. I had surgery on 2/26 of this year, But after surgery come to find out he dropped me to a hydrocodone 7.5/325 and can't understand why the 7.5 hydro's weren't working to take away the pain. I had been having a lil bit of pain on the right shoulder before surgery, but nothing like what i had been having in the left so the surgeon side well "let's hope this will fix this side too" well it didn't. In fact it made the right side worse, I now feel like i have a hot knife twisting at the base of my neck whenever i turn my neck to the right or left, which in turn runs down into my shoulder blades and into my right shoulder which makes my shoulder feel like someone it trying to tear my shoulder off at the cuff along with weakness in my right arm which i never had before .. I have also started to notice a tingling in my right pinky finger and ring finger. I have told him over and over about this but all he does is get the X-rays and says the fusion is looking fine. and my primary can't do anything since he told her he would treat my pain for 6 weeks and he is refusing to do anything about the pain what so ever. i am to my wits end and any advice would be welcomed.

I have a small hard lump on the right side of my neck where it meets the jawline. It seems to be quite deep and I have had it for at least 2 months. It was bigger about a month ago, where it was visible on my skin but has become smaller although it does not seem to be disappearing.

I had my lymph node on the right side of my neck swell up about a 2 weeks ago. It hasn't gone down at all and I have gone to the doctor. I had a negative strep test and I am going for a blood test soon. My hearing seems to be dulled as if I am flying to a place with high altitude, I have a really bad sore throat but not white spots or anything on the back of my throat, I have occasional mild headaches, fatigue, and a little bit of loss of appetite. I have tried antibiotics but they didn't work so obviously it is a virus. I am so confused with what i have to do but i hope it is not cancer..... I am only 15 and I am female.

I found a pea size lump on my right side of neck in between my ear and collar bone but more close to collar bone. It does not hurt when I touch it but I have been touching it too much it causes the area to hurt. When I feel it it feels like it's on my neck muscle. I'm scared of what it could be. It's giving me anxiety and I just want to know if anyone else has had this or knows what it could be. I felt this a couple days ago I'm not sure how long I've had it but I did come down with a cold a couple days ago and a fever etc and I also had minor ear pain and my wisdom tooth seems to be a bit inflamed I can tell on my cheek. It might be from that but not sure. I'm taking antibiotics for the last couple days but ts still here. Not sure what to do I want to stop worrying.
