I recently had an ultrasound to check my kidneys and was found to have a mildly enlarged spleen at 13.2cm. My doctors have told me not to worry as this is just outside the normal range but I am VERY worried.I am male aged 57.

I want to know how to reduce the size of my spleen that is full of large hemangiomas. Anyone know anything about this. I also have them in my liver.
View 2 Repliesi had my annual physical exam month ago. CBC was normal, but on ultrasound my spleen appeared enlarged, approx. 15cm. Month later my spleen was still enlarged, 14cm. I did a CBC + LDH blood test again. Again everything appeared normal on CBC and LDH was 200 (it said that under 330 it was OK). Doc told me not to worry but to have a new ultrasound and CBC (+LDH) in 6 months. I really do not feel like waiting that long. Sometimes during the day I feel extremely tired and sleepy. Any suggestions what to do next other than waiting for 6 months.
View 2 RepliesI too am terrified of having a colonoscopy scheduled for this Friday. I have read the different experiences and don't know what to think as the experiences are so varied. Last year I had a flexi sigmoidoscopy without sedation, or pain relief, which was okay - just a bit uncomfortable. A polyps was found and therefore the doctor wants to check for more higher up. But the colonoscopy seems to be more undignified and painful. I do not want to be sedated as (a) I need to keep my memory for work; (b) I do not like being out of control; and (c) I have read some awful experiences of people being sedated. Therefore I am just going to have the pain relief. During the flexi I was embarrassed at the sensation of wind needing to be released and regardless of being told it is part of everyday work for the medics - it is not for me. This adds to the undignified process. So, although intellectually I know that having a colonoscopy will save my life, I am still very worried about the prep, the procedure and of course the results.

View 4 RepliesI have had the 24 hour ecg and waiting for results and on lowest dose of beta blockers. However I am eager to start work but do get breathless and feel my heart rating whenever I move really. Doctors have advised me to not go to work as "if I have an episode while driving to work or at work what am I going to do?" Says the doctor. I work in retail and I know that I'm standing up all day constantly on the move so it will be making my heart race. I am worried about my health and work but if tests do come back that I defo have svt will I be like this for life not able to work in a physical job like retail? Or on tablets all my life? We're you told you couldn't work due to it or how do you work with it?
View 3 RepliesI went to the doctor a few months ago for a routine physical and mentioned that I had been feeling an occasional (0-10 times a day) thump in my chest (which I thought to be some sort of ectopic beat after looking it up online). They did bloodwork and an EKG and said my blood pressure was a little high but the bloodwork and EKG did not show anything to be worrisome. My doctor said it could be stress related (because this was right after Christmas) but I am still having them. She also told me that if they get worse to let her know, but they haven't got worse and I am just worried that I should be having them checked more in depth than what was done during my physical.

View 8 RepliesI've been having pain in my right lower abdomen for some time now and did some tests and all seem clear. Today I went to a surgeon who tested me and said all feels very normal. Since my dad had colon cancer at 56 he suggested I do a colonoscopy just to make sure there is nothing. I need to wait till the 20th April and I'm already freaking out. Will they tell me immediately after the colonoscopy if something is wrong? I'm 39 with 2 kids and always assume the worst that I have cancer.

I have a headache almost feels like a sinus pressure headache i have sinus pressure im my nose head and eyes. Urgent care doctor examined me about 8 hours after i hit my head did a few test but no cat scan said i had mild concussion. Are the signs immediately or do they take time to come up? I dont really want to pay for a cat scan either i didn't black out I remember everything that happened.
I've just had my vasectomy done today and I was trying to read about the pain and how to relieve it a little and all I've gotten was these sad long stories now I'm worried that I made the wrong decision are there any good post vasectomy stories out there?

View 11 RepliesAbout 8 or 9 days ago I was experiencing pain on my left side which then moved about the whole abdominal area. Finally got blood work done the other day and everything came back good. Doctor had me get a ct scan which was good other than an enlarged spleen (14cm)
I'm supposed to get a chest X-ray and more bloodwork done next week. Today is Friday so I can't get these things done until after the weekend and if course I'm worried out of my mind.
I turn 40 this year. About 5ft 8 and 173 pounds. Last year I had a bout with LPR (silent reflux) but I got over that in mid October. Not sure if this could in any way be related though.
With all the possibilities of what can cause an enlarged spleen, Im worried. Guess I'm looking for others who had similar issues but had good news when all was said and done?
Anyone ever been told they have a hemangioma in their spleen? If so, were you told why? I have researched the net and really can not find anything in reference to spleen hemangioma.
View 8 RepliesMy daughter's spleen has stopped working. She has sharp pain the the middle of where the rib cages meet(not at all where the spleen is. She has a high white blood cell count. Do you know what might cause a spleen to working. She is 28 and is otherwise great health,non smoker and no drugs either. They have her on morphine and gravel,also hooked up to an IV bag as she is not eating. No blood problems in the family history. She is a vegetarian so she may be low in iron. The hospital is at a loss for what to treat her for but ill next do a CT. They have done multiple blood works but nothing yet. Thank you for reading this and hope that you know something about why her spleen has stopped working.
View 1 RepliesI am 30 years old, height 1.83, 82 kg weight. Before a few days I had an abdominal UT. All my organs were diagnosed normal beside the liver, which was diagnosed ''marginally dilated 16.5 cm'', and the spleen which was diagnosed as ''dilated 13.5 cm''.
Let me add that on the same day I had a blood test and all the liver and spleen indicator had normal values (SGOT/AST, SGPT/ALT, -GT, alkaline phosphatase, scrapbooks, albumin regarding liver and leucocytes regarding spleen).
I never had such a UT test in the past so there is no reference for previous size of my liver and spleen.
This period I am having ''Donarot" (crystalline glucosamine) and up to three weeks ago I was having Naprosyn (inflammatory, totally 60 pills in two month period) for orthopedic purposes.
Finally, for the reason that I workout out I occasionally use food supplements containing whey protein, creatine, amino-acids, carbohydrates etc, always as per dosage instructions. For the last two months I did not have any supplement at all though.
I could upload a pic of my UT, if this helps.
What is your opinion? Is it a dilation for sure, even minor one? Could the diagnose be wrong? What are the normal dimension? Can this dilation be related with the medications and/or the supplements I use? Should I take any further tests?
