Gallbladder :: Gallstones Diet - NO Fat, Meat, Fish, Cheese And Butter
Jan 13, 2016
I am waiting for gallbladder surgery as my gallbladder is full of stones. Saw my consultant yesterday and he said in order for my gallbladder to not become inflamed (and possibly lead to open surgery) then I must go on a NO fat diet. No meat, no fish, no cheese, no butter etc. Has anyone else been put on such a restrictive diet? I thought low fat would be acceptable but NO fat?

Can anyone tell me if they have had headaches from having gallstones?

I was recently diagnosed with having 3 gallstones about 8mm in size. I had an ultrasound due to upper right abdominal pain.
I felt fine after finding out what it was and had very little symptoms for about 2 months.
However, for the last 2-3 weeks I seem to be getting headaches every day. I can't see any pattern to them but they gradually seem to come on throughout the day. I still get occasional twinges of pain in my right side but haven't suffered an 'attack' like others.
Has anyone else experienced these headaches? And if so, did they go once you had your gallbladder removed?
It is really getting me down and I just generally feel unwell and fatigued all the time.

60 something guy, good health but developed nausea and bloating, fullness after eating for the last couple of months, becoming more regular, a little discomfort under the ribs, but no major pain. What I eat doesn't seem to matter much. Ultrasound showed many small gall stones, endoscopy was normal. I assume this would warrant GB removal even though I am not experiencing the sharp attacks that people speak of. I hate to go through removal if it is really not the problem as I understand gallstones often show no symptoms.......

I am a slim 23 year old male who regularly plays sports etc.. Around 4 years ago I first had that sharp stabbing pain in my upper right abdomen going through to my back, went in an ambulance to hospital and was diagnosed with constipation. This happened 4/5 times before I was finally diagnosed with gallstones 2 years ago. I had another attack not long after being diagnosed and it gave me pancreatitis because it was blocked in the tube ( or something along those lines), I sort of blame this on the lack of support from the hospital on what I should be eating and avoiding, I mean they was serving me fish and chips, pie etc in hospital and I didn't know any different. I then had the camera down my throat to try and remove the gallstones that way but something went wrong and they couldn't remove them (there is 2 medium to large gallstones).
since then I have been watching my diet like a hawk and I am very happy with what I can and can't eat. I eat chocolate regularly, pastries, low fat cheese, muffins etc and none of these have given me an attack I eat them in moderation and never more than 8 grams of fat in one go. Thinking about it only fried food and cheese have given me attacks.. Now the only attack I have had in two years was my fault because I brought the wrong fish pie ( I am fine with the low fat youngs ones but I got the regular one with 4x the fat )
anyway I am scared to death of hospitals, my mom died aged only 40 a few years ago due to hospital negligence so I'd do anything to avoid having an operation on the nhs, it also doesn't help that I have severe anxiety.. The hospital want me to get it removed but I honestly feel like I can cope and would like to explore all possibilities first.
is it possible I could live happily ever after without getting my gallstones removed and just maintaining a low fat healthy diet? What would you do in my situation?
I have seen lots of people on these forums that are having difficulties after having their gallbladder removed so even if I go through with it there is no guarantee?

I don't want to sound stupid but how do gallstones pass? Compared to kidney stones. Or do they pass?

Just wondered if anyone else has had any experience with blue cheese actually helping with acid reflux? I've suffered with terrible reflux all my adult life, and went onto Lansoprazole a few years ago after a few episodes that felt like a heart attack. Now, usually, if I forget to take it in a morning, the pain during the day is unbearable. If I take it, I still have low level acid, still have to take Rennie quite a lot etc.
However, I've noticed recently that if I eat blue cheese at night the symptoms don't seem to be so bad, which seems totally counterintuitive to me. Anyway, I ran out of pills yesterday and expected to have terrible day, despite having eaten a tonne of blue cheese the night before. Not a thing. Not a single symptom. I ate normally, and nothing all day until late evening. When the symptoms started late evening, I ate some more blue cheese out of interest, and it went away. Had a totally symptom free night and have woken up this morning feeling fine.
I'm not sure how GORD works, whether maybe everyone's gut is different and it just so happens I'm lacking some kind of bacteria or enzyme that's in that brand of cheese? But just wondered if anyone else had noticed this effect? With blue cheese or any other bizarre and counterintuitive foodstuff? (Also, I'm in Moscow at the moment so not sure if the blue cheese here is the same as at home - I've never noticed it working that way back home, but will definitely try it!)
I'm about to attempt a second day of substituting Lansoprazole for blue cheese to see what happens.

It seems to happen the most right before my period and it doesn't come out on its own I have to dig it out. Its disgusting. Idk what has caused this and to be honest I can't pinpoint exactly when it started. I know about 5 months ago in the shower I used a douche after my period and seen something clumpy come out. And I had noticed before that that when I was on my period it would be (what looked to me like bloody skin) on my tampon or when I would wipe im so embarrassed by it when me and my fiance have sex I don't let him go down on me or stick his finger in me im scared to death that I may not have gotten it all out and it get on him. Its nauseating really. I've been told by a dr that I needed to be checked for endometriosis and was told that it was a yeast infection by another dr. But i've taken the meds and its still here.

I have a yeast infection. I've had it for a month. It itched and burned so much and I told my mom maybe 3 days ago. She gave me Canesten which I put on. She also gave me some pills which I take. I get so much discharge that is like cottage cheese (I know this is normal for yeast infections) and I get a lot. I've never had my period, I'm 13 and a virgin and today I looked at my underwear and near the front (like near my vulva or labia or wherever the pee comes out) there was blood! I was shocked and started thinking it was my period, but I looked on beside my pee hole (I sound like an id**t, gah) (I think it's my labia?) an there was a huge cut! I mean, I get cuts a lot on my butt but this was horrible! I had to wear a pantyliner and it was fine, but I went to pee and it BURNED so badly! I told my mom about the blood when I first saw it an i told her about the cut on the phone cause she was at work and she said it was fine but I'm scared! I also have little white bumps on my labia and I've had them for a very long time! They've never bothered me I always thought they were normal, but I just want to clarify it. Also, I hate yogurt and I know it really helps your PHD level but I think it's disgusting!

My penis smells like fish. I was reading another thread about it by the way.
There was a comment about a sexual disease, but since I'm still a virgin, I don't think that would be it. What else could it be? After masturbating, I make sure my penis is clean, so I don't really think it's that.

I thought i'd post here before I see my Dr, it started on Wednesday morning, I went to college, sat in the class and everyone could smell like rotting fish, I didn't know where it was coming from but later found out it was from my arm pits, I haven't been back to college since. I ate haddock on Tuesday night...
Also my diet has been lower in carbs than normal and I have read it could be that, but that's more of an ammonia smell, any help appreciated im freaking out a bit.

I'm 37 weeks and have been putting palmers lotion on my tummy since I found out I was pregnant. It wasn't till about 28 weeks I started to get stretch marks and now they're so awful. My tummy looks like a train wreck. I'm still continuing with the lotion although it clearly isn't doing much. I was wondering is there anything I can do from now till baby comes or after to make them not look so horrible?
