I am hearing and reading mixed views on this. Every Time i have alcohol i am up all night and the next day bringing bile up (about 8 times last time). I had an ultrasound on saturday and she checked my liver etc and i have a 2 cm gallstone. My right shoulder/collarbone/back is constantly sore and aching and when i laugh/cough etc it hurts in the front where my gallbladder is. I have been getting right side headaches. I don't have attacks with food just constant discomfort. I feel shattered too. How can a tiny organ cause so much discomfort in other parts of your body?

I've been having a 23 mm stone at the outlet of my GB for 3 years now, and first I thought I could cope with it by sitting on a low fat diet, drinking herbal teas (quebra pedra) etc., but lately the pain flare ups have increased in frequency from less than once a month to every 3 days and I've decided to go for an operation on GB removal, which is planned within the next couple of months.
But I am still hesitant for several reasons:
1. Carelessness of the doctors - the impression is that they don't want to know anything about your problem (no MRI, no ultrasound - nothing) just cut your GB out.
2. After-effects - infection, hernia*), damage to other organs.
3. I think that if it's possible to live without operation - it's best not to have it.
So to cut the long story short - I wonder if there are people on this forum or your friends who have been living with GB stones for a really long time (like 10 years or more) and if you have - how do you cope?

I was diagnosed with gallbladder rocks last year. I am 20 years and haven't removed it yet because I wanted to get some feedback from people close to my age, what was the best approach? did it affect you alot? it would be very helpful if a few people who have had similar problems could comment and tell me about their story in order to get to a more educated decision. I have had plenty of medical feedback but I'd love to hear it from those who had to go through it.

I'm a 19 year old female. In May 2013 I gradually started to become nauseous. It got worse and by June 2013 I was throwing up almost daily. I saw a gastroenterologist who (in November 2013) found celiac disease through an upper endoscopy. I started eating gluten free but the nausea and vomiting continued. Since then, he's done a gastric emptying test, results were normal. I had a HIDA scan of my gallbladder which showed it didn't contract normally. I then had an ultrasound of my gallbladder, which showed tons of stones. Last month, I got my gallbladder taken out. (because my gastroenterologist was sure that was the cause of nausea and vomiting) The first couple days after surgery I felt no nausea, but by the 4th day post surgery, I had the exact same nausea and vomiting I had before. Does anybody have ANY idea what could be causing this? Or what tests I could ask my gastroenterologist to run when I see him next? And before anybody asks, I'm not pregnant.

So I just got over mono recently, but for about the last 3 to 4 months I've been having severe nausea and stomach aches. Originally I was told it was caused by the mono, which since has been ruled out. The pain and nausea has only been getting worse. The nausea is the worst, as it occurs nearly all day and night. It gets horrible when I try to eat. It's gotten to the point that I can't drink a sip of water or eat a cracker without feeling really ill. I also had some really bad chest pains recently. They spread to my back and oddly my throat. It hurt bad to take a deep breath in, and worse to swallow. I couldn't eat that day. Since then it's gotten better. My mother (retired nurse) says she thinks it may be either GERD or a gallstone. I was thinking it could be GERD but I don't seem to have much heartburn(none really) I do have an appointment with a GI Dr but it's not until mid September and I'm not sure how well I can make it. Any idea what it could be? Could this be more of a gallbladder issue? Also, I have been mainly constipated but every couple days I'll have diarrhea. I've tried taking Miralax and tums, both to no avail. Pepto Bismol also hasn't helped any. It gets really bad in the morning as well, which greatly affects my working ability.

I have been diagnosed with multiple polyps in my gallbladder recently. They are all small except one with less than 5mm. I have a symptom recently with pain. My doctor has suggested to remove my gallbladder. But I am wondering if there are any surgery or technique that can take out the polyps without removing the gallbladder or get the polyps for biopsy test to see it is malignant? I really hope to keep my gallbladder as it is a part of body that god created.

Woke up today feeling extremely bad. Had bad diarrhea, and was vomiting every liquid I was taking in - I don't know if I specifically had/have the "flu," but the symptoms of diarrhea, vomiting, muscle weakness/aching, etc. seems to point to that conclusion. My reflux issues most likely worsened the ability to keep liquid down, and, as a result, I almost passed out from dehydration. Luckily, I am with my family, and am starting to take liquids down. I have good health insurance, should I need to visit the hospital if things get really bad.
I'm wondering if I should take any special considerations, or what other things you guys might suggest, as this has been pretty brutal on me today.

My wife had a bladder infection (the second within a month) and was prescribed a 7 day course of trimethoprim. On the 7th day (having taken the last tablet) she began vomiting and shaking - within 10 minutes of this starting she become disorientated and lost her memory. She was immediately hospitalised and given a MRI scan of her brain plus various blood and urine tests but all tests proved negative. For 24 hours she suffered from extreme short term memory lose. She could not remember events that had happened just 10 seconds before hand. Very scary. I have found this web site on the second day and am relieved to see she is not alone and that the events she is experiencing are probably related to trimethoprim. 36 hours later she is still bed bound (now back at home) and has a bad headache and hot/cold sweats, neck pain and diarrhoea. Sleep seems to be the best aid but she is finding it difficult to sleep as her brain is a hive of activity trying to reconstruct the lost bits. The only drug she is now willing to take is paracetamol which helps a little. Thankfully her short term memory is now working again. How this drug has obtained a licence is a question that needs to be asked

I know it isn't good to make oneself vomit. I know it can become a habit and can cause long term health problems. Theoretically, if one was able to limit themselves to once a week, is there likely and PHYSICAL danger in doing so? What, specifically, could happen to someone who only vomits once a week?

I had my surgery in 98. I've been symptom free for over 10 years. I recently hurt my back at work and was prescribed Naproxen (Aleve) because of the new pain med laws. Well after taking it for a week, I just started vomiting large amounts of blood. I went to the ER and they were shocked to hear that this was prescribed this for my pain since they were aware I had Crohn's. Has anyone else had symptoms like this from Naproxen? Would it be a honest mistake or malpractice?

I've been seeing a psychotherapist for 7 months now to deal with my emetophobia (fear of vomiting) and it's been very difficult. Lots of issues have arisen and it's been very emotional.
Yesterday I was prescribed Sertraline to try to help with my symptoms as it's all I can take as I'm breastfeeding. I've read through some of the side effects and I'm terrified of taking the first tablet. The first symptom I've read is nausea and that terrifies me because of my phobia. I'm desperate to take the tablets to see if they'll help me but I'm getting myself in such a state about it I'll end up making myself ill whether the tablets do or not!

I have just been diagnosed with CKD stage 3 (GFR 48) and I can't understand why. I have low blood pressure and don't have diabetes. I am slim fit and healthy and age 52 so not that old. I also have a low white blood count. Can anyone shed some light? My GP does not seem worried, and so nor should I be, but I feel uncomfortable not knowing what has caused this.

After having reflux and pains in my throat and stomach for a long time my GP finally referred me for a Endoscopy in January. The Doctor carrying this out said I had Barrett's Oesophagus and showed me some pictures. It is rather scary just how red and inflamed it looked. He asked me what medication I was on and I said Omeprazole (20mg) twice a day but I needed to take Rennies antacid tablets (orange) as well to help with the discomfort.
The Doctor told me to keep on with the Omeprazole as it is a precancerous condition and this would help. He also said I needed to have a endoscopy every three years. I am finding that the omeprazole doesn't help when I have the discomfort and the only relief I can get is when I take the Rennies and sometimes Gaviscon. I am still taking the omeprazole as instructed (40g a day) but wondered if anyone else who suffers with this finds omeprazole ineffective or takes something else as well. I'm sure the prolonged taking of Rennies isn't good.
