Gallbladder :: Alcohol - Discomfort With 2 Cm Gallstone
Feb 18, 2015
I am hearing and reading mixed views on this. Every Time i have alcohol i am up all night and the next day bringing bile up (about 8 times last time). I had an ultrasound on saturday and she checked my liver etc and i have a 2 cm gallstone. My right shoulder/collarbone/back is constantly sore and aching and when i laugh/cough etc it hurts in the front where my gallbladder is. I have been getting right side headaches. I don't have attacks with food just constant discomfort. I feel shattered too. How can a tiny organ cause so much discomfort in other parts of your body?

I've been having a 23 mm stone at the outlet of my GB for 3 years now, and first I thought I could cope with it by sitting on a low fat diet, drinking herbal teas (quebra pedra) etc., but lately the pain flare ups have increased in frequency from less than once a month to every 3 days and I've decided to go for an operation on GB removal, which is planned within the next couple of months.
But I am still hesitant for several reasons:
1. Carelessness of the doctors - the impression is that they don't want to know anything about your problem (no MRI, no ultrasound - nothing) just cut your GB out.
2. After-effects - infection, hernia*), damage to other organs.
3. I think that if it's possible to live without operation - it's best not to have it.
So to cut the long story short - I wonder if there are people on this forum or your friends who have been living with GB stones for a really long time (like 10 years or more) and if you have - how do you cope?

My GP is referring me for an ultrasound scan. I'm not sure if i have a gallbladder problem but my symptoms are a discomfort under my right rib, radiating to my back and in between shoulder blades. Could this be a gallbladder problem or a pancreas problem?

So I just got over mono recently, but for about the last 3 to 4 months I've been having severe nausea and stomach aches. Originally I was told it was caused by the mono, which since has been ruled out. The pain and nausea has only been getting worse. The nausea is the worst, as it occurs nearly all day and night. It gets horrible when I try to eat. It's gotten to the point that I can't drink a sip of water or eat a cracker without feeling really ill. I also had some really bad chest pains recently. They spread to my back and oddly my throat. It hurt bad to take a deep breath in, and worse to swallow. I couldn't eat that day. Since then it's gotten better. My mother (retired nurse) says she thinks it may be either GERD or a gallstone. I was thinking it could be GERD but I don't seem to have much heartburn(none really) I do have an appointment with a GI Dr but it's not until mid September and I'm not sure how well I can make it. Any idea what it could be? Could this be more of a gallbladder issue? Also, I have been mainly constipated but every couple days I'll have diarrhea. I've tried taking Miralax and tums, both to no avail. Pepto Bismol also hasn't helped any. It gets really bad in the morning as well, which greatly affects my working ability.

I have been diagnosed with multiple polyps in my gallbladder recently. They are all small except one with less than 5mm. I have a symptom recently with pain. My doctor has suggested to remove my gallbladder. But I am wondering if there are any surgery or technique that can take out the polyps without removing the gallbladder or get the polyps for biopsy test to see it is malignant? I really hope to keep my gallbladder as it is a part of body that god created.

I am possibly thinking of paying for a private home detox. They have suggested it will be using valium as opposed to Librium. I was just wondering if anyone else on here had been through one?

I've felt something, fluid-like, under my right rib for some months. I had my gallbladder removed last September and had no problems for several months. Recently I have had irritation under my rib with soreness. It feels like a fluid sac that moves around. It's uncomfortable at time and I have to watch how I sleep on my right side.

I'm 16, and I've never been to the gynocologist before, so I don't know if this is normal. Ever since I can remember, when I pull back my hood, my clitoris hurts, and the tissue on the innermost part seems red and irritated. If I push on it when the hood isn't pulled back, it doesn't hurt as long as I don't put too much pressure on it. Is this normal?

I had cataract surgery five days ago. On taking the dressing off the next day my vision was brilliant and no discomfort.
On the morning of the third day (Saturday) it felt as if I had something in the outside corner of my eye and that the clarity of vision was somewhat less. As it didn't wear off I called the out of hours ophthalmic nurse. She first asked me to check for an eyelash or anything in the eye. Her second suggestion was that I could have a sensitivity to the cheapo NHS eye drops with preservative in them.
We agreed to leave the situation until after applying the next eye drops. Things were no better when she called me back. She offered to get the on call eye doctor to see me at the hospital.
I did not feel that it was urgent enough for that and that I would leave it until today ( Monday)
The discomfort worsened over night and I called the daytime contact number. They took my details and will pass them on to the eye clinic and someone will call me back...but it might not be today.
The feeling is rather like when many years ago I wore contact lenses and I put one in wrongly.
Has any other reader had the same sensation?

2 results for "I am 7 weeks pregnant. I have been experiencing pains in my lower back and a very uncomfortable feeling in my stomach (almost feels huge as if I'm full term) The Dr said everything is good. I even heard my baby's heartbeat. 3 years ago I had a tragic miscarriage and I'm stressed to death. How long will these pains be there? Has anyone else experienced it? The discomfort is horrifying

Eight weeks ago on a trip to the US I contrived to launch a bottle of shower gel into my right eye. The next day I experienced photophobia, sharp pains, and discomfort when moving the eye around and reading things up close. A US ophthalmologist diagnosed a corneal abrasion at the six o'clock of my eye (below the iris) and prescribed antibiotic ointment for 3 days, sure I would be 100% by then. Indeed the photophobia and sharp pain cleared up quickly but the discomfort did not.
The sharp pain returned to a lesser extent three weeks after the accident so I saw a local (Singaporean) ophthalmologist. With her microscope she discovered that the initial abrasion had healed but was not securely attached from dryness, and prescribed Optive drops and Vidisic gel, which I continue to use today. Two days later my cornea looked okay under the microscope and within a week the sharp pain had gone. Unfortunately the discomfort has never gone away, and seems to have stayed at the same level since the accident. (five weeks from the beginning of lubrication treatment)
My vision remains 20/20 in both eyes, but I feel I no longer see objects up close (when reading etc.) as well or effortlessly as I used to. There is a sense of discomfort, almost like a sliding of something in the eye, when moving the right eye around and "focusing" on distant objects. Moving the eye too fast will actually cause a twinge of pain. My ophthalmologist doesn't see anything wrong with the eye and suggested that I was experiencing dry eye due to the cornea no longer being as smooth as before.
I have read up on abrasions, erosions and dry eye. Presumably I came close to experiencing an erosion just before I started the lubrication regimen. I haven't been able to find much information on dry eye after corneal abrasions. Obviously my condition is bearable but I do hope that is temporary, perhaps with some deep layer of the cornea still healing.

I had retinal detachment in my right eye in Sept. 2014. Required 2 interventions to get it settled, the last being scleral buckle and vitrectomy. Spent five weeks in face down position. By Dec. 2014 I had cystoid macular edema (CME)? I also developed a cataract, which was expected. Cataract surgery May, 2015. Yag laser Aug 2015. Have been prescribed various eye drops over these many months. Currently on Acuvail 2 x per day. STILL have CME. May end up having surgery for this....Vision slowly worsening...wavy, less intense colours, etc. But my question concerns the fact that my right eye is sore most of the time. Usually just annoying but sometimes quite uncomfortable. Anyone else have this? Anything that can help this? Anyone else have CME lasting well over a year? Thanks !
