Gabapentin - Law - You Can't Drive While Taking It?
Dec 6, 2014
I have been recently told that the law has changed regarding Gabapentin and that I should not drive whilst taking it as insurance companies are nullifying policies for those involved in an accident whilst being prescribed Gabapentin.
I'm told Gabapentin has recently been reclassified along with others similar drugs that may cause drowsiness or affect eyesight, Tramadol, and Amitriptyline to name but two.
Can anyone confirm these changes as driving my motorhome around the UK and Europe is the only pleasure I have left.

I am 20 years old and have suffered with migraines for a few years! I had my worst one a few months back which resulted in me being physically sick a number of times! Anyway I went to my GP as I was worried because my Mum suffered with migraines and she died from a massive stroke when she was only 33, so I was worried, as was my Doctor! So she referred me to a neurologist at Guys Hospital in London and he doesn't seem to think it is related what happened to my Mother but he wants me to have an MRI just to see if anything shows up! Anyway he has put me on Gabapentin as I am diabetic and he didn't know what else to put me on! ...3 a day for a week and then 6 a day for a week and then 9 a day for 6 months! I took my first lot on Saturday and it gave me such a terrible migraine similar to the one I had a few months when I was sick but this time I wasn't physically sick....luckily! I seem to be okay now though!
Anyway, is anyone else taking this?

I had TLIF spinal surgery in 2010. Went as well as could be expected, but I have a very weak back and live with constant pain. I body won't accept strong painkillers, so was prescribed Amitriptyline. Came off them due to nose bleeds and feeling like a complete zombie. Although it was good to get a good night sleep!!! Doc then put me on Gabapentin 300 mg 3 times a day. Had no pain relief and so doc has now upped me to 600 mg 3 times a day, plus zapain in between.
I worry about taking so much, but I need something to take the edge off my pain. I've read a lot of negative reviews about Gabapentin. Will have to see how I get on.

you state that if taking antacids you should leave at least 2 hrs after taking Gabapentin before taking antacids.
On my Gabapentin leaflet it states that Gabapentin is to to be taken at the earliest two hours after taking an antacid.
Who do I believe? I shall have to consult my chemist?

I noticed in some other threads that some people have nerve pain and are taking gabapentin. I have nerve pain around my vulva and vaginal opening. I have been given gabapentin. I presume it is some sort of post herpetic neuropathy....

Any experience with gabapentin causing chronic pain problems when taking or withdrawing? During my taper I developed major issues with sciatica and my hip. I'm also taking forever to heal from a frozen shoulder injury (14 months). I had preexisting issues. My guess is it's from all the couch time necessary to heal. But it feels like it shouldn't be this bad. I'm only 29

I am a 38 year old male that has been experiencing some problems lately. I find myself fatigued from morning til night, around the clock. I have no motivation or energy to do ANYTHING. It's beginning to affect my work life as well as my sex life. I literally have no sex drive and I am engaged to the most wonderful woman. However I am so scared to lose her and feel as though she thinks I don't desire her.
I have had to sets of blood work done to see what's going on. Results came back showing my testosterone was low. A lot of the numbers and data I have no Idea what it means. However when he said the normal testosterone range for males was mid 300-s up to 1100 and mine came in at 241...I obviously am very concerned.
He sent me to an endocrinologist to have even more work done so that they could determine treatment. Needless to say, I'm nervous, exhausted and feel like I'm existing away.
I will admit, I didn't do my body good in my early 20's as I did take steroids to bulk up. It have me energy and I felt great. But did I ruin my body? It's also hard to say...because maybe I have low T back then and the steroids helped me feel better!? Idk. I would like to have energy again, a sex drive, and have kids with my beautiful fiance one day.

I have only been taking 3mg for a couple of weeks, but the benefits are huge so far. I suffer from a continuous migrainous headache with regular migraine attacks, but atm I am totally headache free.
This past week I have noticed that my sex drive has increased, much to my husbands delight. I think this is probably because I am feeling so well and full of energy. But I also wonder if this is a possible side effect of the drug?
Has anyone else felt that Pizotifen has affected their sex drive?

I have recently started this medication. Now what I don't understand is the fact a lot of the side effects I have read up about all seem to be negative etc. Like mood swings and stuff. One of my worries was before I started the drug I had extremely low sex drive due to my depression. But a side effect of the drug is you can lose sexual desire etc. How is this drug meant to help?

My boyfriend was continually turning me down weeks on end until he finally had to tell me why - he had an anal fissure, it was painful, so he never felt in the mood. I completely understood that and no longer nagged him for sex. But that was at least 2 months ago, and I am really in need of some good old sex like we use too!
But...he still hasn't really showed he is keen. We've done it a few times but he has never climaxed. I've seen in the cupboard he has got some creams etc which I can tell he uses every few weeks because the packet moves positions. So I assume from this he has his good and bad days?
He is now also watching a lot of porn (I checked his history because I wanted to know if he still had any sex drive at all) so I assume he is still horny... so that comes to my question.
does an anal fissure lower sex drive or cause a man not to be able to cum?

I just have s couple questions. I have been seeing this guy for a while and I knew he smoked shard every once in awhile but as time went on I got to see how often he was doing it.. It could be from 4-7 days a week. He says he has no sex drive which confuses me because I have read that they have a huge sex drive I know he has been using like this for over 8 years and I did promise I would help him try kick this habit because he said he wanted to stop but know it's getting to hard he goes missing for weeks at a time, starts to abuse me call me awful names at times has stolen from me every time I have tried to walk away he promises me things will change but they never do. I care for this man but I just want to know if it's a hopeless situation or not and if they can really truly have feelings for someone or is it s matter of what I can do for him?

Here's what has been bugging me for a while. Namely, Im having occasional impotence problems and low sex drive. I also put on a few extra pounds which is also quite a turn off. I want to take up exercising in order to reduce my weight, and since I like cycling, I'm thinking about starting with it but the problem is that I don't know whether it can have some bad effect on my impotence. Any ideas?
