View 8 RepliesI'm late 5s,have had floaters since my 20s,back then they were small black or clear dots, fast forward, late fifties, now i've had pvds in both eyes, vitreous gel shrinks and pulls away from the back of the eye,now i have these clear to gauzy larger floaters, plus one large clumpy black one and I can't ignore them anymore. PVD is age related. I am just lucky enough to have these awful larger ones that can blur and obstruct vision. How does a person deal with it. Oh yes I also am starting to have dry eyes. Both also can cause hazy vision. Unless you've experienced it,no one else can relate
View 3 Repliesanyone else have floaters and flashes in formerly normal vision since taking cipro?
View 1 RepliesI've been doing a lot of reading about black spots in vision and the term 'floaters' doesn't seem to apply in my case. I first noticed it a week or so ago when I was reading on Kindle. There is a black spot that is constant, in my left eye, its small and I can see it pretty much all the time if reading at the right angle I can use it almost like a pointer moving it along the line of text I'm reading. I've also had blurred vision but I put that down to tiredness from reading from electronic device. I've also noticed a 'cobweb' like line in my other eye that again is constant. I'm booked in for an eye test but its not for a while I'm starting to get bit worried.
View 14 RepliesI just wondered if any of you guys see things in the corner off your eyes like flashes and things going across the room and floaters..
View 11 RepliesOk so i have this weird problem with my eyes. Randomly (happened a lot when a year ago but stopped until now) i start seeing distorted lines. Kind of like millions of tiny prisms are rotating in a line. The lines often start in the center of my vision (making it hard to read) then migrate to cover the left or right side of my vision (but no longer the center)
It appears to be transparent but it is actually not due to the flashing of colours all over it.
They often take shapes but they seem abstract and are hard to focus on. Kind of like a multicolored distortion prism floater (the lines that you can see floating sometimes) although it grows to cover ~30% of my vision.
The "distortion" often stays visible (or moves out of sight) between 20 minutes and 3 hours.
I have not discovered any trigger for this "distortion"
I was having frequent headaches and occasionally feeling lightheaded with floaters. I went to the opticians and they referred me to the ophthalmologist who put eye drops in and said that at the back of my left eye the optic nerve was sheeted. (I don't understand what this term means and cannot see anything on the internet to explain either) He just said that I didn't have any other symptoms for Optic Neuritis and wasn't sure but didn't think it was anything sinister. I am now waiting for a scan of the eye to see what that shows.
However, the last couple of weeks I have been getting pins and needles all over my body, mainly in arms and legs. I've also had general aching pains.
I have read online about symptoms and they point to all kinds of things, Fibromyalgia, Anxiety and possibly MS. As you can imagine this has really scared me as I have read that problems with the optic nerve can also be related.
Has anyone else had these symptoms or are they too few for me to be making assumptions?
A little history on me: I'm 21/F. I have generalized anxiety, panic disorder, depression, PCOS, TMJ, and IBSD. These are all issues I have been dealing with. Medication list: Prozac (20 mg). Vitamin D (5,000 IU). Vitamin B12 injection (once a month). Iron (324 mg). Birth control. Ativan (.05 as needed).
My vision has changed since the beginning of this year. I now see small, clear halos when looking at bright, solid surfaces (such as the sky, walls, etc). I also see an odd wave, jelly-like substance when looking at similar surfaces. When I squint my eyes, I see a line of 20 small dots. All of the floaters I have mentioned move in an odd way, like they're falling. When I try to focus on them, my eyes make the floaters "jump" back to the top of my vision, only to begin falling again. These always look different (never the same spots or lines) and occur in both eyes. When I am focusing on something, such as the TV, I see random dots in my peripheral vision, but when I look in that direction there is nothing there. Went to the eye doctor, said everything looked fine, I am nearsighted, and any disturbances were ocular migraines. I have had three ocular migraines, where I can very clearly see rainbow lines in my vision. These occur when I have gotten very worked up/anxious and only last a few seconds. The floaters I have previously mentioned occur ALL the time. I can look at the sky at any time during daylight, and see them. Brought these issues up to my general practitioner and said this was nothing to worry about, but keep an eye on it.
When looking down or look around quickly, I feel a visual dizziness and off-balance.
PLEASE, if you have any information on what the possible causes of these disturbances/floaters could be, let me know. My doctors aren't worried, but I 100% am. I'm young, why am I having eye issues? I don't wear contacts and only wear glasses when driving.
My daughter was diagnosed with Sjogren's Disease I was just wondering if there is anyone that has this Disease, and to inform me how they are living and coping with pain and day to day living. She is only 20 years of age.
View 1 RepliesSmall but geometric -ish shape. This changes in 1/2 hour or more, the shape gets larger forming a getting larger approximate 'C' shape to the left of center. It is almost like me seeing a crude kaleidoscope . Eventually the thing disappears to the left. The shape seems to be of small triangles squares, anything 'sort of' geometric. I can see past it but still have to see the shape. Whichever eye I close I can still see it; close both I can see it! It has now cleared completely as I have not being looking at the sun or any strong light. Is it 'just one of those things' to be tolerated every now and then. I am 75 and in general good health
View 4 RepliesThe squint(left eye) had been developed at an age of 3 or 4 years I think... A cataract was also developed in it.. It had been ignored by me as I was not able to focus on it while seeing things... Cataract was recently removed(At an age of 18) by a laser treatment... But after the treatment also I had not get my vision back for my left eye (lazy eye).. I'm not able to see with that I now... Can I improve my left eye's vision...? If I can't.. Then how can I correct my eyes appearance... My left eye is little outwards from it's actual direction.
View 2 RepliesI have this squint since childhood. My eyes move outward. It happens a lot when I'm tired or try to look quickly at something, It was diagnosed early and I was asked to do a regular exercise with pencil. I had to Keep pencil in front of my nose and look at it and then slowly move the pencil forward and repeat it several times. The later I was given glasses and it improved it a little but then again it got as it was earlier. My vision is 6 by 6. But its just I don't have proper control over the muscles. They seem to be aligned but when I'm tired or move eyes they go outward. I wanted to know how it can be permanently corrected. It just disturbs me and I always feel a stress on my eyes. I have this irritation over eyes too and itching which makes it even worse. How it can be treated or it can be operated? I guess it would be easier with operation and I would go for it but I was asked to do exercise and told that it will stay but will get better, It was 30 degrees.
View 1 RepliesI am currently suffering a severe bout of anxiety - the 4th in my life. I am 41 and a single parent I'm trying to manage without medication although have taken it in the past. My body is testing me with different symptoms every few weeks. The one i'm struggling with at the moment is bad eye floaters. I know i have them its just they 'appear' (i hope) to be worse and this is making me really stressed and panicky. Has anyone else had this and then they improved or their attitude to them improved? I feel like i'm going to go blind or something and it is really getting me down. I am a trying to manage this so i can have a life with my son.
View 10 RepliesI call them "my mosquitoes". At first I thought they were and was swatting at non-existent bugs. I didn't notice them before the capsulotomy. When I asked the ophthalmologist that did the procedure if they would ever go away or would I always have them, he just shrugged.
View 1 RepliesI would like to know if anyone else (and I know there are many) who have floaters that turned into PVD. Mine started on Oct.2011 with small black dots in left eye. From there it got worse and having to see a Ophthalmologist for the first time and her sending me off to see a Glaucoma specialist with out giving me any information scared. The glaucoma specialist said everything looks fine come back in 2-3 yrs. Well I was hoping all would get better with the floater situation, but it gradually got worse. When I look back I realize the floaters weren't so bad, but it was not being educated in what they were didn't help and only led me to becoming very anxious and eventually depressed. It has been 3 years now, the floaters got worse and affected my right eye too. My left eye had crystal worm like floater that would get right in the center of my eye. All in all I went through a year of this. Went to a neuro-opthamologist and a retinal specialist. I finally had a vitrectomy in my left eye and 3 months later had to have cataract surgery. (Prior to this, I would see afterimages, which caused more anxiety. Became light sensitive.) The cataract surgery had some after-affects. I became more far-sighted which has caused a diopter difference between the two eyes and the cataract eye also has dysphotopsia, where I see the edge of the IOL. Again on top of all this I am very sensitive to light, see spots if something is glaring off an object.
View 1 RepliesWent to eye doctor last week and found my retina fine and saw a floater. It's awful won't go away. I have tried to ignore it but I get more nervous trying. Does anyone else get anxious due to these buggers?
View 2 RepliesI have a question about floaters I dont have the clear ones I only see the black strongly ones about nearly 2 months ago I got the bug then the flu and then severe anxiety 4 around the 1st 4 weeks my eyes just felt blurry and out of focus but in the last 2 weeks the floaters have come I mostly only see them when i'm out in the sun or look sideways I can look at my tv and phone screen without seeing them I had a ct scan it came up clear and have been cleared by the optometrist twice in the last month my questions are will they go away if it's sinus related as the ct scan revealed bad sinus and I didn't see the floaters before this spring I also cant look at the white walls ambi stuck with this is it the sinus and will it all clear with the weather and if not can I expect to get worse
View 2 RepliesFloaters: I got one 10 yrs ago in my right eye. one tiny speck. It's never gone away. This week I got another one in my left eye. then within 48 hours I got about 7 more. It's a little frightening. It's wayyyy too many and it's interfering with my vision because where before they were in the peripheral vision, the additional 7 are straight in front. Before I see my opthamologist...does anyone have any experience with this?
View 14 RepliesI'm 20 and have to use computer a lot and because of that I have developed few eye floaters. I can see them more during sunlight and when I looked at light colored places it seems to grow in numbers. They move as I move my eye and become stable when I concentrate on a single area. I have heard that eye floaters are not so common in youngsters but unfortunately I can see few of them.
Is there any way to get rid of them? I would prefer natural treatments over any other kind of treatments. Is there any eye drop or something which I should put in my eyes Or something which I should avoid to drink such as alcohol or anything as such.
Not had them long - about a month or so. Very mobile little things and very difficult to not focus on as I keep getting told. Does this get easier with time? Do they honestly ever become much less noticeable/not seen?
Particularly the ones that bounce around in your line of vision 24/7?
Can someone tell me what eye floaters are like. I don't know if I have ever had them as I'm not sure what they are but today I was seeing spots for a few mins when trying to read something.
