Eye Care :: Retinal Tear/ Pvd With A Mass Of Dark Floaters/ Cobwebs/ Weiss Ring In My Visual Axis
Apr 4, 2016
I am now over a year from retinal tear/ pvd with a mass of dark floaters/ cobwebs/ Weiss ring in my visual axis.constantly blurring my vision. Makes everything a struggle and exhausting. My ophthalmologist agrees they are extreme and is willing to do a vitrectomy - I am so tempted to get this done, but at the same time very apprehensive. Would love to hear any thoughts.

I have a lot of eye floaters and I'm only 15, I started wearing glasses 8 years ago. I have a lot of them. There are ones that look like cobwebs, giant gray strands and the clumped floaters. They are not that bad to block my vision. It's just it's really scary. I've read somewhere on the internet that my eye floaters are benign (I've diagnosed myself which is stupid) Also maybe the reason I have these giant grey floaters is because some floaters are close the retina. I've also read about vitreous syneresis which is harmless. No ,I have not experienced flashes of light. These floaters have been around for over a month now with no change.I am a hypochondriac so I'm afraid I'm having a retinal detachment or PVD or something. I'm very scared but I'm trying to convince myself its a problem I don't have to worry about but the way the floaters look is so scary. I need help guys. I'm sorta new here and I need some help. I am not doing anything that's causing this.
Is what I'm experiencing a PVD, retinal detachment or a harmless and normal case?

my mother's age is 42, she had phacoemulsification last 5 years ago one right eye. on 15th January 2016 suddenly got whiteness in eye during cooking, after checkup from ophthalmologist he told the retina detached, we had a retina surgery using silicon oil but unfortunately the some amount of oil came out in inferior, that was removed after a month during the month she can see only 1 meter distance, when doctor dripped out silicon the cornea was swelled and once again another surgery was done after 7 days, now she can not see anything except a light is blinking in right corner of eye and sometime a blue sky color in eye, there is no different in eyes are open or closed. Is this possible that she can see again we are very upset because another eye is already dead since last 10 years. Or is there any possibility that we can change retina.

I have my 1st retinal detachment surgery 3 month ago with Scleral buckle and inject gas in my left eye. After the surgery sometime i see a dark spot on the upper right corner, which usually comes and goes. One time it appear and didn't go away but the dark area grow bigger and it has detach again (2 month after the 1st surgery) and i have my 2nd surgery 3 weeks ago with vitrectomy and silicone oil inject.
A couple of days ago i notice a dark spot (on and off) on the upper right corner of my left eye (same spot that the retinal re-detach).
2 days ago a notice a big dark area (2/5 of the vision field) on the upper center of my vision field. Sometime it was so dark i couldn't see my finger when i move it up to this area. But with outside day light i am able to see through a little bit (but still darker than other area).
I went to see my doctor immediately and he said the retinal look flat and alright in that dark area. He said there is a spot where the retina isn't completely re-attached yet but it is in the lower left side corner. I went to see another doctor and he said the same thing. And they all said the oil is clear.
But i haven't check with ultrasound yet.
I am still worry sick. Is it possible for the retinal to re-detach again with silicon oil still inside?
It is possible for the retinal to re-detach but Ophthalmoscopy doesn't pick it up?

A week or so ago I was at my daughter's who happens to work for an eye doctor. I laughing said, I thought it was a hair in my face but there isn't anything there. She said OH Mom that's not good. That evening I started seeing flashes in the corner of my eye. She told me to call her Boss who told me that this was most likely Posterior Vitreous Detachment which is common when you age but told me what to look for if anything changed. Within two days things certainly started changing. He had me come in and I had a horseshoe shaped tear. The next day I had retina surgery that don't let them tell you doesn't hurt, because it does!
Because of this tear, I now have a macular pucker and cataracts I didn't have before. Also I still have flashes and a lot of floaters.
They repaired the tear but I have lost the normal sight in that eye. I have a blurry spot in the center of my vision that looks like when your glasses are dirty. Let light hit my face and oh my goodness! Out of trial and error I realized if I put on my amber sunglasses that it helps cut the glare.
Has anyone had their vision return after developing a Macular Pucker? They say that the floaters should go away in six weeks. I sure hope they are correct.

A little history on me: I'm 21/F. I have generalized anxiety, panic disorder, depression, PCOS, TMJ, and IBSD. These are all issues I have been dealing with. Medication list: Prozac (20 mg). Vitamin D (5,000 IU). Vitamin B12 injection (once a month). Iron (324 mg). Birth control. Ativan (.05 as needed).
My vision has changed since the beginning of this year. I now see small, clear halos when looking at bright, solid surfaces (such as the sky, walls, etc). I also see an odd wave, jelly-like substance when looking at similar surfaces. When I squint my eyes, I see a line of 20 small dots. All of the floaters I have mentioned move in an odd way, like they're falling. When I try to focus on them, my eyes make the floaters "jump" back to the top of my vision, only to begin falling again. These always look different (never the same spots or lines) and occur in both eyes. When I am focusing on something, such as the TV, I see random dots in my peripheral vision, but when I look in that direction there is nothing there. Went to the eye doctor, said everything looked fine, I am nearsighted, and any disturbances were ocular migraines. I have had three ocular migraines, where I can very clearly see rainbow lines in my vision. These occur when I have gotten very worked up/anxious and only last a few seconds. The floaters I have previously mentioned occur ALL the time. I can look at the sky at any time during daylight, and see them. Brought these issues up to my general practitioner and said this was nothing to worry about, but keep an eye on it.
When looking down or look around quickly, I feel a visual dizziness and off-balance.
PLEASE, if you have any information on what the possible causes of these disturbances/floaters could be, let me know. My doctors aren't worried, but I 100% am. I'm young, why am I having eye issues? I don't wear contacts and only wear glasses when driving.

Went to eye doctor last week and found my retina fine and saw a floater. It's awful won't go away. I have tried to ignore it but I get more nervous trying. Does anyone else get anxious due to these buggers?

Floaters: I got one 10 yrs ago in my right eye. one tiny speck. It's never gone away. This week I got another one in my left eye. then within 48 hours I got about 7 more. It's a little frightening. It's wayyyy too many and it's interfering with my vision because where before they were in the peripheral vision, the additional 7 are straight in front. Before I see my opthamologist...does anyone have any experience with this?

I have been having some concerns with my vision to start off I have myopia and astigmatism, but recently I had noticed a flash of light. It happened when I was sleeping, so I'm not 100 percent sure if it was part of a dream or if I really saw it. I also noticed that if I turned my heart really quickly from right to left I would see what looked like a gold light around my eye that last for maybe a few seconds. I was super worried at that point and went to see my eye doctor as soon as possible she didn't see any tears or any signs of a detached retina but did notice that my vision prescription had changed. To be on the safe side she suggested I go see an opthamologist in a few weeks. I of course was too worried to wait a few weeks so I made the appointment right after my eye doctor visit.
The opthamologist checked my vision and told me my eyes were healthy and everything looked fine. She suggested that the flashes could be caused by ocular migraines and told me unless I am seeing tons of flashes, floaters, or dark curtains over my eye then its okay to see a few. I was very relieved with the news, but I still am worried something is wrong. I thought I saw some flashes today in my peripheral vision and my vision seemed a little off. My vision seeming off is most likely due to needing new glasses. I noticed some of the possible flashes today when I was in an area where there is bright lights. Could really bright lighting/sunlight causes eye flashes or my vision to act weird?
I also use my smart phone quite a bit and notice it when I'm using my phone for extended periods of time. Could that cause flashes or vision issues? and could having too much caffeine cause vision problems? I don't really feel like going back to my doctor every time I see flashes, but I just worry if I don't maybe it could be something serious. I have just been stressing and having awful anxiety about it even though I was just told my vision was fine literally a few days ago.
Has anyone else experienced this? Thank you if you took the time to read this I know its super long lol. I'm just not sure what to do I mean maybe I'm just being paranoid or just letting anxiety get the better of me.

Suddenly today I noticed that I seemed to have a film over my right eye and I was experiencing floaters. I had multifocal lens replacement surgery a couple years ago. Everything went well. It was the best thing I had done. I wore glasses since I about 7. I had a couple small floaters before the surgery but only saw them now and then. I had put some oil on my face earlier today and was wondering if some had gotten into my eye , would it have caused this to happen? I put saline drops in my eye and visine thinking this may have been the cause. trying to rinse out my eye. It did not help and am getting worried that something may be wrong. What worries me is that it came on sort of fast and has been the same all day. I also have been under a lot of stress lately, working long hours. Would really like some advice on what to do.

My friend had retinal detachment after a hand stroke a year ago. First, his sight was 70%, then it came to 5%. few days ago now he had operation, and his vision is 20% now. Please, what are the methods for regenerating the photoreceptors and can something be done after such a long time?

I have never really suffered from headaches during my life until now (i'm 29). There is no family history of migraines.
Out of the blue, after a family function 2 years ago, we got home and I noticed the image out of my right eye was 'cloudy'. I wear glasses so immediately thought my glasses were dirty. I got a shock when taking them off to find it was my eye! I was a bit concerned, then 30mins later I had the worst headache in my life. I had to go to bed early. At some points even the sounds of the TV from downstairs were making me feel sick. It was as if every sound and sense in my body had been amplified. I think there might have been a tiny bit of twitching but can't confirm now as memory of it is a little hazy.
I woke up the next day feeling normal again, and put it down to hangover or just a 'bad headache'. I went back to my daily job (work in IT) and didn't think anything of it. The same thing happened again about a month later, this time not a headache as much, more visual symptoms. After 3-4 hours it passed and I was back to normal again.
The frequency of them started changing from one every month, then around Jan 2013 one every two weeks, and since around June 2013 one every 7-10 days.
At this moment in time I am off work due to depression/anxiety (Since Feb 2014) and currently can get them every 2-4 days. Last week I had four in the space of 7 days.
What I experience now: The 'trigger' feeling that I know one is coming is slightly worrying; I can visibly see my pulse (vein shape) pulsing in my right eye's vision to my heartbeat. This goes on for about 15/30mins, then I start to get spots/lines/an 'arc' shape which will sometimes be there and sometimes now. I will also get moments of no vision in that eye 'black spots appearing over the central vision'.
When I read of people with 'ocular' migraines they note these symptoms usually leave after approx 1 hour followed by a blinding headache. My concern is the aura stays with me the entire course of the migraine - approx 6-9 hours. I believe I have 'retinal' migraines. Difference being I ONLY get the aura in my right eye. If I patch the right eye my vision is normal out of my left for the entire 9 hours. Also my head feels incredibly tight and sometimes will get a throbbing pain just above the tear duct on the right side of my noise.
I have had my eyes checked and been told the pressure is fine (no risk of glaucoma). Also my blood pressure is normal/high (bearing in mind I do suffer with anxiety/depression).
I am at my wits end trying to work out what triggers them. I have spent months cutting out caffeine/alcohol. It made no difference. I have also tried limiting my use on computers/phones whilst I am off work. No difference.
The only relief I have found is through exercise. I typically don't do any sort of intense daily exercise, maybe a 20min walk a day and household chores.
2 Weeks ago, I decided to start an exercise regimen. Did jogging/walking for about 45mins-1hr each day. I went approx 10 days without a migraine (usually it's every 2-3 days at the moment). I am wondering what in the exercise is causing this relief? Could it be hormonal or just a stress reliever?
I don't smoke and don't drink much alcohol any more. I do have a bit of a weak neck - maybe this has something to do with it? My main concern above all else is it's not your typical aura, I only get it in one eye.
I have also noted that I have never had a migraine before 1PM and after 10PM (apart from one rare occasion at 4AM when I was having a panic attack in bed). Something is happening between approx 2PM-10PM to trigger it, but I don't know what.
I'm a bit of a hypochondriac at the moment, thinking it's a brain tumour or i'm at risk of stroke. I wanted to get a scan but GP said "if you would have had a brain tumour since 2012 you would know by now" and suggested meds.
Does anybody else here suffer from their 'retinal' migraines, or can offer any support or advice?

I have had blood tests to investigate the central retinal vein occlusion I had in September. Apparently the tests were okay - slightly raised in one area but not bad enough for the haematologist to get back to me, when my eye consultant asked for advice. I commented that I. Bruise easily but my consultant said the raised level would indicate the opposite. The CRVO was caused by haemorrhaging in the eye. I quite often get bruising/broken blood vessels in my fingers - got one today on the middle section of my ring finger, by applying my handbrake! Does this make sense to anybody? I'm fed up of explaining this to the various medics I see, who just look at me with a bemused expression! Am I going mad here??

Last week I found a lump in the scrotum, a trip to the ultrasound department came back with a "extratesticular mass 1cm x 1,2cm x 1.2cm, likely to arise from the tail of the epididymis" "The lesion shows slight peripheral vascularity on color doppler" testis and everything else was normal
So I was then referred to a urologist, who said it was best to have it removed and analyzed. So I had it removed yesterday and saw the urologist again today. He told me that he had sent it off to be tested, but felt confident it was a Spermatocele, he even listed it on the discharge sheet as the final diagnosis as a Spermatocele.
But when I read up on Spermatocele, it says it's a fluid filled cyst, so surely it would not have shown as a solid mass on the ultrasound? So I was wondering if it was possible for a Spermatocele to appear as a solid mass on an ultrasound. I will get the results next week either way, but would interested to know if it's likely to be what he said?

Just was told via ultrasound that I had a fairly large solid mass by my right ovary. I was told endometrioma but that I would need to get it removed. CA 125 came in at only 9 so I feel better by that. I am 46 premenopausal so not sure the accuracy of the CA125 results. Are all endometriomas benign? I have not had endometriosis so not sure why this happened? I had seen doctors in past YEAR for digestive and colon issues that came in clear and I take Tylenol a lot for leg and back aches. I also saw a dermatologist for hair growth and acne. Were any of these side effects for endometriomas? Ovarian cancer? For any of you ladies?

Yesterday a rheumatologist diagnosed me with GCA and, in an attempt to remove any threat to my sight, put me on 60 mg of prednisone immediately. He based this on the PMR symptoms and some visual symptoms.
He advised me to see my eye doctor. She did not see anything at all in my visual symptoms characteristic of GCA. She was surprised and disturbed that he made this significant diagnosis without more blood work and a biopsy.
Now that I have been on the prednisone, though only 2 days on 60 mg, the inflammation will be gone and there is no way, she says, we will ever know whether I really had/have GCA.
She will talk to him today to see if he had any other information she does not know about.
I'll trust my GP to sort out the best thing to do. I certainly am not staying on 60 mg of prednisone a day longer than I have to!

I had an MRI of abdomen and incidental finding of a simple cyst in the liver and an indeterminate mass in the liver which was recommended to have ultrasound or CT scanning.
As I panicked I went straight to dr and asked for US. The radiologist who did it looked at the original MRI scan and said it was not a good picture. He then did the US and said he could see the cyst but not the " indeterminate mass" and believed it was an artefact shadow. Blood tests were normal. So worried...please help!
I am still worrying and thinking I should get it rechecked? Don't know whether MR was so bad it was movement artefact or should I believe the ultra sound. And since the weekend I have a dull ache near my ribs on my right side and I am thinking pain in the liver. Any advice?

I was diagnosed 5 years ago as a paranoid schizophrenic. I have allot of auditory hallucinations, but never once a visual one.
A week ago when I was in my room I stared at the ceiling, I have a wood one. Suddenly the marks and patterns on it started to move, then dance. I just thought that I must have been tired and went to sleep.
Since then it got a little worse. Every night the ceiling would dance for me. Then inanimate objects would start to bend and move around. The weird thing is that when my keyboard against the wall moves, the shadow casted on the wall by it, moves with it. I found this a bit odd.
Tonight was the worst case. The blanked on my bed puffed up and moves around, exactly like there was a dog underneath. My closet door handle would move up and down while the closet opens and closes, with no sound.
When my laptop's light went down and I stared at my own reflection, things got weird. My reflection's hands would move while I am sitting still. "He" would blink when I do not. Then my whole face started to change. It puffed up and my hair was longer. When I turned my face one way, he turned a different way and started smiling at me. And our eyes never made contact. When I looked into "his" eyes, he would look to the sides or roll them back.
Because I have had this illness for a long time I didn't go into a panic as I kind of got the jest of what was going on.
Since this was my first visual experience, I just want to know if this is the "norm" of it. I did not see anything that was not there, just things moving and getting distorted.
And does anyone know if the visual part can come for the first time after me having this illness for so long?
