Went to eye doctor last week and found my retina fine and saw a floater. It's awful won't go away. I have tried to ignore it but I get more nervous trying. Does anyone else get anxious due to these buggers?
View 2 RepliesI have a question about floaters I dont have the clear ones I only see the black strongly ones about nearly 2 months ago I got the bug then the flu and then severe anxiety 4 around the 1st 4 weeks my eyes just felt blurry and out of focus but in the last 2 weeks the floaters have come I mostly only see them when i'm out in the sun or look sideways I can look at my tv and phone screen without seeing them I had a ct scan it came up clear and have been cleared by the optometrist twice in the last month my questions are will they go away if it's sinus related as the ct scan revealed bad sinus and I didn't see the floaters before this spring I also cant look at the white walls ambi stuck with this is it the sinus and will it all clear with the weather and if not can I expect to get worse
View 2 RepliesFloaters: I got one 10 yrs ago in my right eye. one tiny speck. It's never gone away. This week I got another one in my left eye. then within 48 hours I got about 7 more. It's a little frightening. It's wayyyy too many and it's interfering with my vision because where before they were in the peripheral vision, the additional 7 are straight in front. Before I see my opthamologist...does anyone have any experience with this?
View 14 RepliesI have been having some concerns with my vision to start off I have myopia and astigmatism, but recently I had noticed a flash of light. It happened when I was sleeping, so I'm not 100 percent sure if it was part of a dream or if I really saw it. I also noticed that if I turned my heart really quickly from right to left I would see what looked like a gold light around my eye that last for maybe a few seconds. I was super worried at that point and went to see my eye doctor as soon as possible she didn't see any tears or any signs of a detached retina but did notice that my vision prescription had changed. To be on the safe side she suggested I go see an opthamologist in a few weeks. I of course was too worried to wait a few weeks so I made the appointment right after my eye doctor visit.
The opthamologist checked my vision and told me my eyes were healthy and everything looked fine. She suggested that the flashes could be caused by ocular migraines and told me unless I am seeing tons of flashes, floaters, or dark curtains over my eye then its okay to see a few. I was very relieved with the news, but I still am worried something is wrong. I thought I saw some flashes today in my peripheral vision and my vision seemed a little off. My vision seeming off is most likely due to needing new glasses. I noticed some of the possible flashes today when I was in an area where there is bright lights. Could really bright lighting/sunlight causes eye flashes or my vision to act weird?
I also use my smart phone quite a bit and notice it when I'm using my phone for extended periods of time. Could that cause flashes or vision issues? and could having too much caffeine cause vision problems? I don't really feel like going back to my doctor every time I see flashes, but I just worry if I don't maybe it could be something serious. I have just been stressing and having awful anxiety about it even though I was just told my vision was fine literally a few days ago.
Has anyone else experienced this? Thank you if you took the time to read this I know its super long lol. I'm just not sure what to do I mean maybe I'm just being paranoid or just letting anxiety get the better of me.
Suddenly today I noticed that I seemed to have a film over my right eye and I was experiencing floaters. I had multifocal lens replacement surgery a couple years ago. Everything went well. It was the best thing I had done. I wore glasses since I about 7. I had a couple small floaters before the surgery but only saw them now and then. I had put some oil on my face earlier today and was wondering if some had gotten into my eye , would it have caused this to happen? I put saline drops in my eye and visine thinking this may have been the cause. trying to rinse out my eye. It did not help and am getting worried that something may be wrong. What worries me is that it came on sort of fast and has been the same all day. I also have been under a lot of stress lately, working long hours. Would really like some advice on what to do.
View 1 RepliesI am now over a year from retinal tear/ pvd with a mass of dark floaters/ cobwebs/ Weiss ring in my visual axis.constantly blurring my vision. Makes everything a struggle and exhausting. My ophthalmologist agrees they are extreme and is willing to do a vitrectomy - I am so tempted to get this done, but at the same time very apprehensive. Would love to hear any thoughts.
View 5 RepliesI am currently suffering a severe bout of anxiety - the 4th in my life. I am 41 and a single parent I'm trying to manage without medication although have taken it in the past. My body is testing me with different symptoms every few weeks. The one i'm struggling with at the moment is bad eye floaters. I know i have them its just they 'appear' (i hope) to be worse and this is making me really stressed and panicky. Has anyone else had this and then they improved or their attitude to them improved? I feel like i'm going to go blind or something and it is really getting me down. I am a trying to manage this so i can have a life with my son.
View 10 RepliesI call them "my mosquitoes". At first I thought they were and was swatting at non-existent bugs. I didn't notice them before the capsulotomy. When I asked the ophthalmologist that did the procedure if they would ever go away or would I always have them, he just shrugged.
View 1 RepliesI would like to know if anyone else (and I know there are many) who have floaters that turned into PVD. Mine started on Oct.2011 with small black dots in left eye. From there it got worse and having to see a Ophthalmologist for the first time and her sending me off to see a Glaucoma specialist with out giving me any information scared. The glaucoma specialist said everything looks fine come back in 2-3 yrs. Well I was hoping all would get better with the floater situation, but it gradually got worse. When I look back I realize the floaters weren't so bad, but it was not being educated in what they were didn't help and only led me to becoming very anxious and eventually depressed. It has been 3 years now, the floaters got worse and affected my right eye too. My left eye had crystal worm like floater that would get right in the center of my eye. All in all I went through a year of this. Went to a neuro-opthamologist and a retinal specialist. I finally had a vitrectomy in my left eye and 3 months later had to have cataract surgery. (Prior to this, I would see afterimages, which caused more anxiety. Became light sensitive.) The cataract surgery had some after-affects. I became more far-sighted which has caused a diopter difference between the two eyes and the cataract eye also has dysphotopsia, where I see the edge of the IOL. Again on top of all this I am very sensitive to light, see spots if something is glaring off an object.
View 1 RepliesI'm 20 and have to use computer a lot and because of that I have developed few eye floaters. I can see them more during sunlight and when I looked at light colored places it seems to grow in numbers. They move as I move my eye and become stable when I concentrate on a single area. I have heard that eye floaters are not so common in youngsters but unfortunately I can see few of them.
Is there any way to get rid of them? I would prefer natural treatments over any other kind of treatments.Is there any eye drop or something which I should put in my eyes Or something which I should avoid to drink such as alcohol or anything as such.
Not had them long - about a month or so. Very mobile little things and very difficult to not focus on as I keep getting told. Does this get easier with time? Do they honestly ever become much less noticeable/not seen?
Particularly the ones that bounce around in your line of vision 24/7?
Can someone tell me what eye floaters are like. I don't know if I have ever had them as I'm not sure what they are but today I was seeing spots for a few mins when trying to read something.
View 1 RepliesLast Wednesday I got hit with a soccer ball in the eye very hard from probably 2 feet in front of me. All I could see was grey, nothing else in that eye. I went to the ER where they diagnosed me of a hyphema. They then put me on drops to dilate and bring down my in-ocular eye pressure. It's been 3 days since then and I almost have my vision back with a little bit of blurriness. And the only thing that is concerning me now is the floaters.
1. Will they go away? Or will I "Get used to them?"
2. Can they go away completely?
3. Will the blurriness go away?
I am having trouble dealing with this daily,anyone else?

Although the idea of a clinic-based YAG laser operation is alluring for its perceived simplicity, we have the following concerns.
1. The energy delivered into the eye is not acceptable. The energy delivered to the eye in YAG vitreolysis compared with standard YAG capsulotomy is much greater. Van der Windt and colleagues state the typical required power is 2.5 mJ to 4.5 mJ, and they do not recommend exceeding 500 pulses per treatment session. They recognize multiple treatment sessions may be necessary. It is our opinion this level of energy being delivered into the eye is too great, putting the patient at unnecessarily high risk for postoperative inflammation, glaucoma and retinal tear/detachment.
2. The efficacy of YAG vitreolysis is also in question. Delaney and colleagues found that 38% of patients treated with YAG vitreolysis had a moderate reduction in symptoms while 62% had no improvement.
The alternative treatment for YAG vitreolysis, and what we recommend at Mercy in carefully selected cases, is small-gauge pars plana vitrectomy. This procedure yields much higher efficacy. In the same Delaney study, they reported 93.3% of eyes undergoing vitrectomy for floaters resulted in full resolution. By utilizing modern surgical equipment, now readily available in as small as 27 gauge and cut rates as high as 7,500 cuts/minute, very little energy is directed into the vitreous, and very little traction on the vitreous is exerted. Vitrectomy has the advantage that if a retinal tear develops intraoperatively, it should be easily identified and treated at the end of the case.
I've recently discovered that i have flashes(just tiny little ones) sometimes, and it happens when i look to the left then downwards. My prescription is -1.75 and -2.00 and i haven't experienced floaters so far. Is this normal?

I had a PVD about 2 years ago, plus I've always had floaters, however, I just had a new floater and the doctor did laser eye surgery. I always have a great deal of anxiety and since this just happened right before I was to go out of the country on vacation I had a major panic attack and couldn't force myself to go. I was scared to be in a foreign land for fear something would happen. I don't want this to control my life, but now it has.

View 1 RepliesI'm a 22 year old male and for as long as I can remember I've always had eye floaters, normally in my left eye and in a wired kind of L and C shape. I've never really thought about them till recently cos I've noticed (or maybe I've only just started actually thinking about it) that they occur more often. they haven't really changed in shape or size, don't seem to flash or cause any other symptoms, it's just there.... mainly seem to happen more at work or when I'm in a brighter atmosphere, I went for an eye test 8 months ago and she said everything is fine (apart from having a slight astigmatism in my left eye) and to come back for another check in 5 years.
should I worry about these floaters? apart from these my eyesight is perfectly fine and eyes appear healthy, thanks!
I've been on mirtazapine for about 3/4 weeks now. When I first took them I had extreme tiredness.. Song with muscle aches and heart palpitations. After a week or so these symptoms seemed to go (minus the tiredness). These past three days I've been feeling dizzy constantly. Not so much dizzy.. More like off balance, I've also had problems with my visions, such as seeing little black floaters.. I know dizziness is a side effect but I didn't realise symptoms could kick in after two weeks. I've also been feeling more emotional and suicidal and I'm not quite sure why...
