Electrolyte Imbalance :: Salt Craving Else Feel Shaky
Jan 29, 2015
I just LOVE salt, and sometimes I feel a bit shaky and if I eat something salty, I'm fine! I suspect this is an electrolyte imbalance, but no real idea. What's going on?

Does anyone have urinary frequency and/or urgency since taking pred? Like getting up every 2 hours during the night, and other times. Also swelling of the ankles & feet? Also stressful discomfort over the upper back and shoulders? Myi ankles have become quite edematous, I avoid all added salt.

I'm wondering what the "typical" dose is for fludrocortisone? I've been taking .1 mg for past several years, but doesn't seem like it's doing anything. I'm thirsty all of the time, and am consuming liquids all day it seems ... and yes, I add sea salt to my water. Could it be that this gets worse the longer you live with the condition, and so may require more of the med to help with sodium retention? I'm clearly not retaining extra water weight as I'm extremely thin (87 lbs). My doctor doesn't seem to have a clue and just tells me to keep drinking water. I pretty much don't rely on doctors anymore with this condition. I've grown tired of educating them about Addison's/ Adrenal Insufficiency. So I figured I would ask here and see what others take and if anyone has had to increase their fludrocortisone.

I have always enjoyed salty foods but over the past few years I really crave them all the time. Could it have something to do with my adrenal glands?

After 3 long months and what seems like an endless struggle to get diagnosed, I have been diagnosed with an imbalance between my inner ears due to a viral infection, leading to a diagnosis of vestibular neuritis. The doctor said my migraines could also possibly be presenting themselves atypically and aggravating the situation.
I am doing vestibular rehabilitation exercises and taking steps to unclog my sinuses.
This is the longest ailment I've had and quite frankly I'm fed up, I know rehabilition will take a while, however does anyone know how long this thing can last??? It's ruining my concentration at work and puts me off social situations (I can't drink, it makes me wake up the next day feeling extra dizzy)

I am 23 years old and i have never had a period in my life. i have seen a gynecologist. first i did a scan and was told that i have a very small uterus they gave me birth control pills that did not work. they took blood sample and found out i have hormonal imbalance somewhere four times as much as they should be and others very low. they also asked me to monitor my temperature for 3 months and there were no anomalies there. my question is what exactly is wrong with me and does it have a name and will i be able to have children in future?

After surgery, whenever I belch with my mouth closed or sometime opened, a back pressure goes directly to ear that had surgery and cause a jolt of imbalance for about a second that scared me. Has this ever happen to any of you after stapedectomy?

2 years ago I had a tubal ligation and since I have gained a lot of weight (especially the last year). Before the tubal ligation I was thin and no matter how much I ate, I couldn't gain a pound.
I have been to many doctors and I have checked my hormones (estrogen, progesterone, LH, FSH) as well as my thyroid MANY TIMES during the last 2 years.
My hormones and my thyroid are fine, and there is nothing wrong.
I have read about tubal ligation syndrome, but all these side effects after tubal happens BECAUSE OF A HORMONAL IMBALANCE and I don't have any.,
Why am I gaining so much weight?
What about you that gained weight after tubal? Do you have hormonal imbalance or do the blood tests come back normal as mine do?

I was doing really well, and was almost to my goal of being able to fly again (my niece has a wedding in July, and I didn't want to miss it due to being too big to fly), when I started having this strange craving for Strawberry Splash gushers, and Ginger Ale. For the past three weeks, I've gone through two boxes of gushers a day, and a liter of ginger ale a day. Does anyone else have strange food addictions that set them back? How did you kick it?

This morning I got up to take a shower and as I was taking my clothes off I felt really tired and I had to sit down for a few minutes. After that I returned to my bathroom to take a shower. As I was showering I felt fine until I got out. As I got out of the shower I started feeling sick. I felt like I was going to faint and vomit. I put clothes on quickly and I just wanted to leave my bathroom. It's currently Summer and it's hot everywhere. I felt liked I was trapped. I didn't know what to do. I quickly left my bathroom and I sat in a chair near the kitchen and I wanted to cry but I couldn't. I felt so sick and dizzy. I started to find breathing hard. I closed my eyes and tried to focus on my breathing because I was breathing hard but it didn't really help. Then I did it a second time and it worked. I started to calm down and I felt a lot better. I was a bit shaky for a few minutes but now I'm fine. I'm at home by myself and it was in the morning.
I was just wondering is this a panic attack or something else? I've never had a panic attack before and I don't know what else it could be.

So my doc said I was Vitamin D deficient and has put me on 5000 vitamin D3. Which is fine I've had to do that before. Then he suggested selenium which I got 200 because I couldn't find a 100 mcg of selenium. I've been on selenium for a month but I've been feeling a bit shaky. Can selenium do that? Some days I feel ok but a little nervous. My hands aren't shaky just feels like I'm shaky inside. Does that even make sense? LOL! I even started taking selenium every other day instead but I still have this feeling.

Could anyone advise me if reducing Mirt down from 30 mg will have any effect on food craving. 2 stone overweight which seems to be the norm. If I could lose half of it it would help.

I have had shaky hands for years and has recently got worse. I woke up with pain in my shoulder which spread to my elbow, wrist and hand. I went to the gp and was given a splint, pain killers and referred to a hand specialist for nerve conduction studies for carpal tunnel. I was also told to go for a massage as the muscles on the right side of my back and shoulder were solid. However, when I went for a massage it only made things worse- I went into a healing crisis (apparently this is a real thing!) and was in agony. I saw an orthopaedic physio privately who thought i may have nerve damage in my thoracic spine, but when I went back to the GP I was told to continue with carpal tunnel diagnosis. The nerve conduction studies came back negative and now I'm being sent for an MRI and referred to neurology. 6 months later I am no closer to knowing what is wrong or how to tackle the impact it is having on my life.
I am an occupational therapy student too and using dragon software to write my assignments as it is difficult for me to handwrite or type. I am also a painter and crafter and have not been able to do any of the things I enjoy. I am currently on a health and design placement and am looking at spinal injuries and neurological conditions. I thought it would be a great opportunity to look into ways I can help myself as well as other people- Is any one else having issues using their hands? Is anyone using adaptive equipment- its not attractive stuff! ? Maybe there is an element of a task that other people would like a product to help with?
