View 1 RepliesHearing heartbeat in ears. Sometimes it gets stronger First symptom is face gets very warm no fever, ears get hot and red and sensitive (right one) and whoosh or tzzing hearing in ears like pulse. It subsides after 8 hrs or less. Impossible to sleep. If I sleep flat on back am awakened 2 hrs later by
very strong heart beat like its forcing a lot of blood thru. Subsides with exercise. Condition goes away for 48 hrs so heart system not fighting infection. If I sleep with upper torso at 45 degree angle still wake after 2 hrs but pulses not as strong. Then after I can sleep for hrs no problem. Dr checked ears ok, did all blood work ok, I'm male 67 yrs and in gen good health. Did ultrasound on abdominal kidneys bladder ok. Seems like some chemical command triggering heart to pump harder and faster not too fast. I tested things to try to determine what triggers the face heat, ears hot and harder beats, chocolate, caffeine, pepsi's, salt, coughing, cigarette smoking, stressful video games have no effect. BP normal am taking Ramipril 10 mg Altace nothing else. Dont think its heart but something telling heart to work hard, feel it thumping in chest. Just repeated T3's blood test..and 24 hr urine special test..awaiting results. Reg urine test showed nothing, and abdominal ultrasound clear. No dizziness, nausea etc. Bowel and urine movement perfect, no pains or lightheadedness.
Has anyone experienced a recurrent cholesteatoma in one ear and now a cholesteatoma in the other?
I experience chronic pain and chronic migraines as a result of the 3 surgeries I've had in my right ear. I have severe tinnitus. So severe, that there are times when I literally cannot hear anything around me. Another thing is that sound gets extremely distorted should a voice or sound be too high or too low - you can imagine how difficult this is being a PreSales IT Architect who speaks with a number of people every day.
Also, my right eyelid and right side of my face fall a little lower than my left. In addition to this, I feel pain outside the ear as well and in the muscle that has been relocated three times for each surgery. This causes me pain when I simply move my head in any direction...even when I make facial expressions. Dizziness and vertigo are almost a daily occurrence with some days worse than others...It feels like the room is in a blender. Driving is also becoming increasingly difficult as I often feel like the car is still moving when I come to a stop and vice versa....It's a laundry list of things, I know.
I now have a cholesteatoma in my LEFT ear with my 1st surgery on that is on 11/13/15.
I am now having noises in my ears, like an engine running etc. I use oxygen and a nippy ventilator so I don't know what to do. Its really getting me down, not sleeping much which I need to do.
I am 49 years old. The specialist couldn't do AN MRI scan on my ears as I couldn't lie flat, don't know whether they can do a CT scan either, I thought he would have offered something when I couldn't have the MRI, I am a bit cross, I am worse since having the hearing aid, my hearing was going but at least I could use the phone which I can't now, that is really getting me down as I'm not always with my partner so we contact each other by telephone, that is the only way I communicate a lot of the time as I can't always go out with my breathing problems.
i have had ringing in the ears (tinnitus) now for like 6 month and i also just noticed a few months ago everytime i swallow my ears click very very loud does anyone know what this could be?
View 1 RepliesI got a bad cold several months ago and developed fluid in both of my ears. My ears felt clogged and they crackled. some of the clogged sensation went away, but the crackling remains. I went to the doctor and they found a little fluid, so I was given a steroid shot but didn't work. The crackling drivers me crazy. What can I do?
View 4 RepliesI went to the ENT to get the wax build up out of my ears as I have to do that once or twice a year. This last visit was a bit unusual because the Dr said to put cotton in my ear when I got home but can't remember why he said that and the fact that I didn't do it for whatever reason. Anyway, ever since that visit, I have been having bouts of vertigo to where I toss and turn at night and the room starts spinning or if I am up and around, I'll look up or down and get that moving sensation. My ears are constantly ringing even as I type this and they feel full, I am getting over a sore throat which I think is allergy related and never ran a fever and overall feel headachy off and on and just feel blah. My ears feel stuffy as well. Any thoughts on what this is and what I can do to alleviate the dizzies?
View 8 Repliesi was diagnosed with hyperthyroid 6 weeks ago, started taking metoprolol 25mg twice a day... on the 4th day i noticed my ears were popping every time i swallowed... and have been ever since. went to ENT today and had a scope done of nose and throat w/everything fine... anyone else had this type of issue?
I finally see specialist tomorrow and hope to get on meds... i have tremors all over body, anxiety, fatigue, high heart rate (120 at times)
When I get up in the morning my ears are blocked (especially the right one),they clear within about an hour and stay clear during the day. I have been using olive oil for about a week now - as suggested by my doctor but it is not making any difference.
View 1 RepliesI have been experiencing a ringing in my ears, mainly by the left one for about a month and a half now. Sometimes is better some others worse, I have also been experiencing a sense of queasiness. At times feel slight fullness around my ears, and around my nose and face when i bend over.
Went to the GP once and was given ear drops as the Doctor suggested it was built wax in my ear. The drops didn't seem to do much so went back and got an ear spray, antibiotic. I have been taking it for a week now and to be honest, might have done something, or so i thought but the last two days I have been feeling queasy again and the ringing in the ears isn't going away.
In the last six months I have developed an annoying problem which is whistling in my ears. It comes on for no reason often though when I have had my head down. I know if I go to bed with it, it will be there when I wake up. Sometimes it goes during the day only to return later. I often have a muzzy head when the whistling is at its worse. My ears do pop a bit as well. I do have occasional bouts of vertigo, whether this is related I do not know. Has anyone come across this ?
I have this hissing in my ears with a disequilibrium is this an inner ear problem. Sounds are also distorted loud voices and the phone just go right through me normal conversations are hard to hear music is all distorted the drums stand out and the treble sounds are real tinny the disequilibrium is really a concern driving me nuts. I also get a droning sound from background noise. Please help if you are familiar with this can't sleep. I also have this pressure in my head if there's any connection. I also get a clicking noise when yawning like I'm trying to pop my ears. And they won't clear.
View 1 RepliesI have had a long term battle (6 1/2 years) with eczema in my ears with no relief. Recently I have had Major hearing loss in both ears due to outer ear infections. I was given oral antibiotics (2x a day) and ear drops (4 drops 4x a day) to help with the infection. It has been 5 days since I started both and I still have none of my hearing back. This is affecting my Job as I work at the front desk of a Hotel! When will I start to get some hearing back?
View 1 RepliesMy inner-ears have felt like there is cotton balls stuck in there. When I talk it sounds as if I'm in a tunnel another's sounds like they're whispering when talking at normal tone. I feel like I'm telling when I talk but I am actually talking really low. And same situation with listening to radio, television, etc... I have the volume on blast but it sounds normal level but muffled, and others complain its too loud. Been going on about 2 weeks now. It happened once before but went away shortly and all on its own. I've tried cleaning my ears with qtips, using peroxide, and popping my ears and all have failed me.
View 2 RepliesAlthough my problem has been diagnosed as muscular, I have been doing PT for almost two months and the clicking sound when I swallow just doesn't go away (neither does the tinnitus).
I understand why the tinnitus is happening (the ligament to the inner ear is stretched), but I don't understand the clicking sound at all. Can someone explain it to me?
I have had clicking in my ears for over two weeks now, whenever I talk or finish a sentence, or if I make a certain manoeuvre with my nose/palate/mouth, not quite sure, but I don't have to open my mouth in order to make the clicks.
It started off in my right ear but is now in both and is so loud I have become so anxious and depressed and don't want to talk to anybody.
The clicks are audible externally, and if I cry and become congested I get slight relief and also if I tilt my head forward or lay my head in certain positions.
I went to the doctors yesterday who instantly diagnosed me with TMJ. I'm not sure whether to believe this, as the clicks aren't there when I open and close my jaw and why does it temporarily ease off when I am congested?
So for the past 11 months I have been having a number of inner ear related problems (or so I think), but some other neuro problems as well.
It all started from 3 separate exposures to very high decibel noise which left me with a little permanent hearing loss in both ears and major depression.
Though I have not been around intense noise since May, my symptoms have progressed and now I have 'episodes' consisting of mild-moderate vertigo attacks (counterclockwise rotation or a rocking boat sensation), periods of non-disabling imbalance (yet I can have trouble walking), very high or low frequency tinnitus (high pitched squealing or a low pitched rushing sound like the tide), ear pressure, and small bouts of very high or low frequency hearing loss that are usually permanent. These episodes are usually set off by loudish but absolutely safe noises, as well as strenuous exercise and possibly foods.
Though I would think these symptoms describe cochlear hydrops, these are not my only symptoms I experience during said episodes:
1. Headaches that can best be described as an increased pressure sensation, like my head is being blown up. Usually, the headaches begin at the temples accompanying a small hearing loss, then progress into my sinuses where they become painful.
2. Tingling that returns in specific areas of my hands and feet
3. Pressure and 'dullness' behind the eyes, and sides of head (I see perfectly but it's as if my brain dissociates from my visual field)
4. Crackling sounds in my head
5. An infrequent 'fuzzy' and lightheaded feeling in my head and around my neck. Lots of lightheadedness.
6. Almost passing out on a few occasions
7. Occasional visual aura (once it was a blurry spot in vision, another time it was little white specks flashing in both eyes)
8. Brain fog and cognitive problems
9.Feelings of dissociating from the world around me, typically when some hearing goes out.
9. Jaw pain
10. Tight neck and facial muscles
11. Frequent perception that I have a low grade fever
12. Mild nausea
13. Constant fatigue (I'm 21 but I have the energy levels of a 60 year old it seems.)
14. Frequent panic attacks
Anyway, does this long list of symptoms seem to be suggestive of basilar or vestibular migraines?
Relatedly, can migraines cause small degrees of progressive hearing loss, especially in the high frequencies? That's by far my most distressing symptom personally but I cannot find too much literature linking migraine to permanent hearing loss and cochlear symptoms in general.
Well since i was a kid i used to have anxiety, panic attacks and i used to overthink alot.
Before going to tell what i have im gonna tell you what type of person i am. Well if i hear that a friend of mine has a illness or someone is having a tumor i would totally believe that i have it too and sometimes i have the exact symptoms and i freak out.
But lately i have different type of thoughts. I have a daily Depersonalization including weird thoughts. I don't have delusions (i don't know if daydreaming or thinking of something you wanna be is delusion) but lately i have a buzzing in my ears and especially in the left one and read on the internet that it might be a first sign of Sz.
I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO! i dont have the enough money to visit a therapist. And i have been checked by a neurologist nothing.
How was like when you first had a Schizophrenia ?
I wanna compare it with mine symptoms
When i wake up in the morning my ears feel wet. I used to use q-tip to get the water out My ears don't hurt. When i put my finger in my ear i can see my finger tip has little water. Where is this coming from. I used to wake up with mucus in my throat and that kinda went away.
View 1 RepliesI have LPR and have noticed lately that I have a sensation of blocked ears, well actually just one ear, but it alternates. I have had them checked and there's no wax of blockage. I have read on the forum that LPR can cause blocked ears but does anyone have any recommendations of how to clear them ?
I drink alkaline water, eat the correct foods, knock Gaviscon Advance back like it's going out if fashion( which does help), but I have just noticed the ear blockage.
Have any of you lovely ladies ever experienced a stuffy sensation in your ears almost like you have water in them? I went outside yesterday to the park with the kids and it was relatively nice but once I got back indoors, I noticed I had this stuffiness in my ears. It rotates from one ear to the other.
