Diabetes :: Fast Again - Inconclusive Glucose Blood Fasting Test ?
Jun 9, 2015
My Doctor gave me a call last week after having my bloods done because of feeling tired and she said my thyroid was borderline and need to go back in 6 weeks.
I've had a call today again from the GP surgery that my glucose blood fasting test was inconclusive and I will need to fast again in 6 weeks and have that done. What does it mean?

I received a letter from a GP at my surgery requesting that I have a fasting blood test, glucose I assume. I am currently on 5 mg pred after just over 2 years. Is this necessary or useful do you think? I'm one of the 'lucky' ones who lose weight on pred and my BMI is extremely low. I have little appetite and eat 6 times a day to try to maintain where I am now! I have struggled to get down to 5 and am not sure my adrenals are doing very well. Very fatigued and not too comfortable at the moment.

I am on 150mcg Thyroxine and have a fasting blood test on Friday. I take thyroxine at night as it makes me feel better the next day - like my thyroid is already working/functioning as it should be. Lots of speculation about whether to take meds before a test - fasting or not and if it could give a false reading. Wish doctors could be consistent with their thyroid diagnosis, and have not published their findings on whether or not to take meds before a blood test.

I am so upset. I was tested early at 15 weeks because both of my parents have diabetes. I know I didn't have diabetes because I had my annual physical with my general doc weeks before I got pregnant and no sugar issues. I failed 3 out of 4 of the tests. So I'll have to prick my finger 4 times a day and restrict the carbs in my diet. What should I expect? Is it a good thing that it if it was going to happen it was earlier than later? I just really need to hear from anyone who went through this or know of other women who dealt with GD

I have never had any alcohol before (I am a minor). But I am wondering, how exactly does alcohol affect blood glucose? Alcohol itself, not just sugary alcoholic beverages.

I am wondering if anyone else going through menopause has been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes that only began with the onset of menopause? I have never had an issue with BGL's until the start of menopause, now they are out of whack and Dr has diagnosed me with Type 2 diabetes. I don't agree with this diagnosis as my gut feeling is that it is all related to the menopause and hormone regulation through the liver. My question is if anyone has had this experience and did BGL's return to normal after menopause. I am not on any medication, trying the diet and exercise thing first (mostly because I am in denial about the whole thing)
