Diabetes :: Normal Blood Glucose Levels For Pregnant Women.
Dec 10, 2013
What is the normal fasting blood sugar level for pregnant women? I'm wondering if it is higher for pregnant women due to having extra blood volume in the body?

View 1 RepliesI am wondering if anyone else going through menopause has been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes that only began with the onset of menopause? I have never had an issue with BGL's until the start of menopause, now they are out of whack and Dr has diagnosed me with Type 2 diabetes. I don't agree with this diagnosis as my gut feeling is that it is all related to the menopause and hormone regulation through the liver. My question is if anyone has had this experience and did BGL's return to normal after menopause. I am not on any medication, trying the diet and exercise thing first (mostly because I am in denial about the whole thing)
I have never had any alcohol before (I am a minor). But I am wondering, how exactly does alcohol affect blood glucose? Alcohol itself, not just sugary alcoholic beverages.
View 3 RepliesSo had the 1 hr glucose test today and mu glucose was 188 highest normal number is only 140 damn it. Then my rbc and hbt was below normal so im assuming im anemic.

I've had a call today again from the GP surgery that my glucose blood fasting test was inconclusive and I will need to fast again in 6 weeks and have that done. What does it mean?
I have been suffering from tiredness, eye weakness, tingling and sometimes pain in my feet and forehands. One month ago My blood sugar level after 3 hours of meal was diagnosed to be 123 mg/dl. Am i at risk?
View 1 RepliesI'm finally going to have a 5 hour glucose tolerance test done. I've always told doctors that I am not willing to take the test. I just didn't want to go through the week or two of suffering that will follow. Does anyone know if insulin can be checked through the duration of the test? Is it common to have insulin levels checked during a GTT?

View 7 RepliesI failed my 3hr and I was reading slightly on it. I'm scared and distraught. What happened to you guys when you found out you failed?
View 4 RepliesHaving continual high glucose readings whilst on insulin? If I take enough insulin overnight I still have a high morning reading, usually about 17/18. If I reduce my overnight insulin, I still have a high reading
View 3 RepliesI am so upset. I was tested early at 15 weeks because both of my parents have diabetes. I know I didn't have diabetes because I had my annual physical with my general doc weeks before I got pregnant and no sugar issues. I failed 3 out of 4 of the tests. So I'll have to prick my finger 4 times a day and restrict the carbs in my diet. What should I expect? Is it a good thing that it if it was going to happen it was earlier than later? I just really need to hear from anyone who went through this or know of other women who dealt with GD

Was referred to nephrologist, not sure what to expect.
View 1 Repliesmy cholesterol is fine but been to ae the nurse and she told me i have to take atorvastatin?
View 3 RepliesMy mum had a huge haemorrhagic stroke in November 2011. It took a long time for mum to recover much of anything and was left completely disabled on her left hand side. To add to this she was left handed and had to learn doing most things the wrong way round. She has been attending physio, trying to learn to walk again and will finally be getting a splint to hold her ankle in place to make this easier for her. Is it just me or should this not have been done sooner? Anyway, to add insult to injury, she's been told she has a glucose intolerance, was given the information from this website as her leaflet to read and take action from. Yes my mum is slightly overweight but has been on a balanced low fat diet for years and not lost a thing, but neither has she gained weight. She has a glass of wine occasionally and doesn't smoke. She is on tons of medication to keep blood pressure low, pain killers as she is in pain daily and her cholesterol is 3. Apart from the exercise which is impossible to do more, what can I do? our GP hasn't bothered to make any further contact or offered any further advice. I only got an appointment for her because I screamed down the phone.. Not a good start.. I'm so frustrated with it all and the bit in the leaflet that says that if left untreated, there is a higher risk of stroke!!
View 1 RepliesI'm a 19 year old male, I have been smoking for about 2 years now, like 4-10 cigarettes a day.
I had my testosterone levels checked and it was 911 ng/dL, which apparently is high.
Why aren't my erections fully hard as they used to be? And why do I feel my libido has dropped?
A Dr told me it takes longer for smoking to cause ED, and he told me the problem is all in my head.
I am a 27 year old male. For some time I've shown symptoms of a lack of sex drive and erectile dysfunction but as I suffer from anxiety always attributed it as the cause. I had some blood tests done privately and my results showed a slightly raised prolactin level but my testosterone seems average.
TSH 0.70 mIU/L (0.27 - 4.2)
Prolactin 397 mIU/L (86 - 324)
Testosterone 21.3 nmol/L (7.6 - 31.4)
SHBG 35 nmol/L (16 - 55)
The results seem to suggest Prolactinoma but a common side effect is low testosterone where my results prove otherwise. I'm afraid if I speak to my doctor he will tell me it is all in my head so I'm trying to make some sense of the results.
I guess the question I'm asking is is it possible to have raised Prolactin/Prolactinoma and normal looking testosterone levels?
Should I speak to my doctor anyway?
I was on diltiazem (cartia) for several years. It eventually raised my blood sugar level and I was diagnosed with diabetes 2. My blood pressure was not going down, so they took me off diltiazem 240mg, and put me on lisinopril 5mg.
The lisinopril gave me a dry cough, so I was put on losartan 25mg. I asked why not 5 mg and my NP told me because it doesn't come in 5mg....
Had a blood test for this the other week and got my results back. It's says 200 but next to it says (180-900). Is mine low and need medical attention.
