Diabetes :: Juvenile - Pregnancy / Still Birth
Jan 2, 2014
What are the chances that a baby will be a stillbirth if she has diabetes? I have juvenile diabetes and I had someone tell me not to have a baby because it can be a stillborn. I would love to have a baby someday but should I if it won't make it?

I noticed that my 14yr old daughter was losing weight, taking too much water in a day, frequent urination and excessive appetite. I used my glucometer on her and found 445mg/dl FBS. I became alarmed and took her for a lab test. Her Hb1ac was found at 14%. She was put on insulin( Mixtard 30/70) 40IU at 24units in the morning and 12units at night. She has not achieved FBS below 10mmol/l up till now. Its always within an average of 15mmol/l, and its a week now. She however doesn't exhibit any sign and she's a very active girl in the house chores.
She started complaining now of diarrhea, that was after introducing her to the use of sweetener.

Being diagnosed with gestational diabetes? How did you deal with it? Did your baby have a high birth weight? Did you carry full term or be induced early? Just curious about the topic all around.

I'm scared that all the sweets I crave and eat throughout the day will cause me to have GD.
but even worse, I'm wondering whether that could cause my baby to be born with type 1 diabetes? what are the effects of GD on the baby?

My 11 year old daughter has recently been diagnosed with juvenile hemochromatosis. We have been waiting on her gene test for quite a few months due to the most common tests not showing anything, we have now been told she is carrying one of the genes for this disease but it wouldn't be the only reason she has iron overload. Has anyone else been in this position or know of any other reason other than hemochromatosis that could cause iron overload?. We are not due to see the doctor until October to go over her results in detail and she is referring her case to two professors in Cambridge as yet again we seem to have hit a brick wall.

I am wondering why I had to take insulin my last pregnancy and this pregnancy I don't?? It seems a bit odd that I wouldn't need it this time. Will my baby be ok? I have had gestational diabetes with both pregnancies but this doctor doesn't seem to think I need it. I am worried. Should I get a second opinion?

So I went to the midwife last week and she said my little boy is measuring quite big (I'm 31 weeks today) on the chart in my maternity notes he is way of where he should be like 5cm bigger than he should be was showing I was 32 weeks when I was only just 30. She sent me to an emergency appointment at the hospital the day after for a glucose test and to be re measured for a second opinion. The results showed I didn't have gestational diabetes so that's not the reason of him being big but they wouldn't re measure or scan me and said I have to wait till my next midwife appointment so she can measure me again. Do t understand why my midwife got me in the day after if they think it didn't need doing.
I am at the midwifes again on Tuesday for my 31 week app not sure what tk do if she measures me again and he's even bigger?

I am 36-years of age and pregnant with my 3rd child. I required insulin during my second pregnancy due to high blood sugar and tolerated it, knowing I will be able to stop once the pregnancy is over and my baby delivered. I was hoping that my sugar would be better during my current pregnancy, since I adopted a healthy diet, decreased my working hours,..... But no, I had diabetes straight from the 12th week on and now in the 21st week, my sugars are up and up!!!! needing required doses of insulin!! I am so desperate. Has any other had similar problems. Was the baby healthy?
