Depression :: Can't Escape The Pain - Heart Physically Hurts
Dec 19, 2014
I really am on a low at the moment and really looking for an easy way out as I can't take the pain anymore. My heart physically hurts and I feel like I am pushing everyone away who is trying to help me. I have never felt loneliness like it and although it really gets me down, I don't want anyone's company (does that make sense)
I am on anti-depressants and have been for many years. The doctors tells me it will pass but it never does. A smile that hides a thousand sorrows and i feel like I'm drowning while everyone around me is living their life.

I'm a 43yr old male with no history of heart disease, though I do have low HDL cholesterol and mild hypertension (130's/90's) and am on half a Benicar 20mg pill daily. I lost 100lbs 5 years ago and have kept it off with regular exercise (I run 5-7 days per week) and heavy weight lifting (2-3 days/week), plus a much better diet than I ever had while in my obese days. I'm still overweight at 210lbs, 6'2", but in a much better place, I think, and continue to drop a pound every month or so!
Recently, due to a chronic issue with abdominal discomfort that sometimes migrates into my chest, I had a treadmill stress test and echo at the local county hospital and would like to know if I should ask more questions about the results of the stress test (echo still pending).
An echo was performed before the treadmill portion and then ASAP after I hopped off the treadmill (within 10-15 seconds at most). I had zero trouble with the treadmill test, reaching my heart rate goals after about 18 minutes of continuous increases in speed and incline. No discomfort, dizziness, etc. and blood pressure didn't do anything weird, nor did there appear to be any arrhythmia.
The result published by the attending doctor (my regular GP) are as follows:
"... initial EKG was a sinus rhythm ... maximal ST depression was -2.2. However, he was asymptomatic and the depression was in one lead only. This is an electrically and symptomatic negative exercise stress test ..."
I've read that this amount of ST depression is significant, but is it true that a single-lead depression is a negative result? Should I at least inquire about which lead was negative? The tech did have some trouble getting one of my leads to read at first, but seemed to get that worked out before I hopped on the treadmill - I should've asked which lead that was; located on left side rib cage under arm.
I have digestive issues that often present with chest discomfort, fullness, jaw or esophagus tightness, etc. and that leads to anxiety, as you might imagine. Perhaps I'm being overly anxious about this, too...just want anyone with experience or knowledge of these tests to weigh in on whether I should probably just let it go or follow up once the echo comes back in a few more days.

Has anyone taken nortriptyline a period of time and decided to stop taking it due to it's side effects with success? The side effects I'm experiencing are increased heart rate, high blood pressure, hair thinning/loss and muscle twitchings/spasms.
Brief story about me: I was never a headache person or a migraineur. I only got these headaches after a lumbar puncture 7 months ago. Needless to say, it has changed my life as I am having headaches 50-100 times a day. I'm currently taking 10-20 mg nortriptyline to keep the intensity down, but the side effects is giving me a lot of problems (increased heart rate and hair thinning/loss are my biggest problems). I'd like to hear from anyone who has a similar story to mine.

I am a 34 year old male, no illnesses, suffering from hip pain for a while. The pain is on the outside of the hip in-line with the groin area, it doesn't hurt to walk but lifting and moving the leg when sitting/laying causes pain, as does doing butterfly stretches and bending the knee inwards/outwards. When it's particularly painful my whole leg will ache right down to the ankle.

I keep getting an unwanted erection every time I physically touch my best friend. She's female, and I used to have the same trouble in the past. The problem is that I keep getting them only with her. And it's not only when touching her, but also sometimes when we're just texting to see how each other is doing. I know this is more of a psychological question, but it keeps bugging me to face this situation, since we're just friends and we see each other as brother and sister. I just have to add that I'm a 22 year male virgin.

I have recently been taking 40mg lipitor meds due to raised cholesterol. I have been on these for several months and recently have noticed that I an physically and mentally exhausted on a daily basis. I feel light headed and nauseas, sometimes I vomit. I have no appetite. I am struggling to complete my daily job and my social life as ended up non existent. I am always tired to the extent of I have a sleep in my car for half hour before going to pick my wife up from work. She finishes an hour later than me. Before I used to come home tidy up do some chores etc. Now there is no chance. Can lipitor side effects actually be this bad? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I'm new to this and was wondering if this is normal or if I should go see a doctor so if anyone can help with my question I would really appreciate it! I was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy on Friday, Oct. 17th (7 days ago). They prescribed prednisone and I'm on my 7th day in with it. I've had the headaches and the occasional stabbing pain behind my ear which most has gone away now, BUT as of yesterday, my right side of the face which is the side that's affected, hurts like crazy when I touch it or massage it. Is this normal to feel this way a few days after your diagnosed? Has anyone else experienced this?

I saw a cardiologist in september of last year and he assured me everything was normal. I see a cardiologist every few years to check on my arrhythmia that has been a pain in the butt for years.
I am 28 year old female. I have been having pain in my left chest, left shoulder and right jaw for about 5 days now. Yesterday, I went to the ER because it felt like someone was stabbing me in between my shoulder blades and I couldn't catch my breath.
They did a rapid EKG and a blood test when I walked in the door. The nurse said, I doubt anything is wrong with your heart its probably an ulcer or something. So they took me to a room and got me settled in. The doctor comes in a tells me my blood test showed that I either had a heart attack or I am going to have a heart attack!! Really?!?? Totally started freaking.
They re-ordered the blood tests twice after that. They came back normal. Both of my EKGS were normal and a CT scan with contrast of my chest came back normal. They sent me home.
I am still freaking out. My left arm/shoulder is really sore. I am trying to re-assure myself that nothing is wrong or else they wouldn't let me leave, right?
I just need re-assurance to trust the doctors and not let my mind go to that place....What could be the problem?

I am writing to ask you about my father. I am a Family Physician from India. My father is 67 years and is having diabetes from the past 10 years. His sugars are in control, recently cut down the medication to 1 tablet of (Sitagliptin 50 + Metformin 1000), earlier he was taking Metformin 1000 additionally. PPBS is reaching 200 now. He complains of occasional sweating while walking and during at home as well. Says he has pain in the calves during morning. BP is under control 130/80 mmHg and cardiac tests including ECG, echo, TMT done last year and normal. What is this calf pain and occasional sweating attributable to? Today, he complained of sweating while walking. BP, Sugar and Pulse (104 after walking) same as mentioned earlier. No chest pain or breathlessness on exertion, had some giddiness. Kindly advise.

Nine months ago I was in active mother of two with very little pain until one day one of my toddlers jumped on my back while playing around in the floor. Since then I have been back pain every day along with fatigue and depression. I have been to a few different primary care doctors, physical therapy for three months and I've tried a slew of muscle relaxers and medication for my middle back pain. I have had an x-ray and an MRI that shows my back is perfectly normal and healthy. I am beyond frustrated about what is causing this pain! I also have slight digestive issues even though I eat fairly healthy, heavy menstrual cycles and recently sharp nerve pain in my right ankle. I used to be pain free and healthy and now I feel like a hypochondriac with no answers to why! Does this sound like fibromyalgia to anyone? I'm at the point where I'm just reaching out for help to find a reason for my pain. My back pain is the worst of all of the symptoms but it seems to get better (still pain but not as bad) for a week and then get worse again for no apparent reason. Help! Am I going crazy!? I don't want to have fibromyalgia but my doctors cannot find anything physically wrong with me!

I'm not sure where to put this and I'm fairly certain I do not have enough space for all of this. But I will try anyways.
I am 27 years old and male. And my life right now is not great. I have a long list of medical problems most of which have gone untreated for years and are all more or less working together to ruin my life. Since I do not have the appropriate length here to explain all of this a simple list will have to do for now.
Current Issues:
Chronic Pain left and right flank
Chronic Nausea (will result in vomiting)
ADHD (untreated)
Anxiety (Untreated)
Depression (untreated)
Sleeping problems
Eating/Weight problems
Chronic Kidney stones
UPJ obstruction and Hydronephrosis of the Left Kidney (3 surgeries to repair)
What I NEED help with is Identifying what I need to do to make this better. I have been seeing doctors for the past 23 years of my Life. I honestly need A LOT more space to explain all of this.

I have recently been diagnosed as having depression, and my psychiatrist feels my leg pain that I have is being caused by my depression. Does anyone else experience similar problems and has antidepressants helped at all with the physical symptoms ?
