Anyone can you tell me if you had any luck finding an antidepressant to work for you. I have tried several with no relief now I'm on paxil 20 Mgs I have severe anxiety depression fear medical related PTSD I am very scared all the time

Have many of you tried going off, only to go back on? I think I read something about them changing your brain chemistry permanently.

View 5 RepliesI figured I had OCD but not that bad and I suffered from anxiety and depression on and off all of my life. But, this latest illness really got me feeling very anxious and depressed. I tried Paxil but I built up a tolerance to it. After some time, like months of dealing with this for quite some time, I finally ran upon Lexapro; Which from what I've read works well. Why has this hit me later in life like this I'm 59 and appear mid forty's. My question is why have I got so ill with anxiety and depression this time? I have lost a lot of weight as well. Hoping this lexapro works for me. And why has this happened to me now so bad? I dread every day. Can anyone one respond to this?
I actually dread every day, the only time I feel a bit better is at night, but the next morning there it is - anxiety and depression. No relief till this new medication (Lexapro) kicks in. I'm exhausted.
And yes I have xanax, but if I take one in the day it puts me to sleep and I wake up with a panic attack from hell. But at night I take a xanax and can fall off to sleep and sleep 8 hours but I have wild dreams. Hope someone can respond to this...sorry for all the information just wanted to make it all clear up front.
I recently started a low dose (5 mg) of Brintellix 4 days ago, and I've had a headache every day. I'm wondering if it's common to get headaches when first starting an antidepressant and how long I should give it before I decide to stop. My Dr. said to give it a week, but I'm not sure that's long enough based on some stuff I've read. I can't tolerate most antidepressants, which is why I'm hoping this side effect will go away. I was just wondering what others' experiences are when starting a new AD, even if it wasn't Brintellix. Are start up headaches common, and do they normally go away?

View 6 RepliesFor sometime now I am diagnosed with anxiety. I get some medications and was advised for group therapy. Problem is that I do not feel better at all. I am still "trembling" every time I had to do some things or to go somewhere. Friend of mine told me that Paxil helped her with hers problems. I have no knowledge of hers diagnose, but I wonder, could Paxil be used for my anxiety?

View 14 RepliesHas anyone else tried or heard of Fetzima? It's somewhat new to the market (2013) and is classified as an SNRI. As many of you are quite familiar with- depression often accompanies fibro the majority of the time.
I wanted to share my success story with this med, as I've been on at least 8 anti-depressants since being diagnosed and although they work for 1-3 years, they suddenly stop, as if my body has built up a tolerance. After upping the dosage twice on one med, my doctor will switch me to try another. After starting Fetzima in late May, I have not felt this great mentally for years. If you're looking for depression relief, I can tell you this one has changed my life.
My menopause nurse has changed hrt from everol to levial I started first pill today but my gp gave me fluoxetine last week cause I was depressed.I am wondering what is one of drugs don't agree with me I will not know what one is causing the prob so am I better of not taking fluoxetine just to see if levial helps with my depression.

View 17 RepliesI am trying to deal with my depression and anxiety as best as I can. I have never thought that something like this could happen to me, I was always a calm person. But ever since my husband died two years ago I cannot get a hold of myself. It started like a regular depression that came and went but now it is a full time condition. Since I have been taking Paxil, I am starting to feel much better. Can you take Paxil sporadically? I mean, do I have to take it when I'm feeling fine?

View 2 Repliesi'm wondering what the physical consequences of alcohol and paxil are? i've read and been told everything from death to increased drowsiness, but have personally found that most of my problems occur after drinking, not during. i have noticed my heart beating slower, but assumed it was because i was relaxed.
lately i have been dealing with sleep disturbances and mental confusion, as well as anxiety. recently my paxil dosage was increased from 20mg to 30mg. i drink, on average, a moderate dose of whisky a night. (roughly half of a pint, to be exact).
I have been taking paxil for a few years, I love it!! but the weight gain has been making me very upset!
Please help! My doctor only says "stay active" I feel that I am active. Can you tell me what your definition of "active" is?

View 1 RepliesI have taken antidepressants mainly for anxiety for many years. I have had 11 different antidepressants, switching mostly because of side effects, or when they didn't work too well. I am currently taking Paroxetine, which works fairly well but has some nasty side effects.
Last Monday I saw a really helpful psychiatrist, and when I told her I look meds up online, she encouraged me to look up the two meds that she was suggesting (Mirtazapine and Pregabalin) and make up my own mind.
There are plenty of research papers and there's Wikipedia, and med sites, all based on scientific studies. Very useful but I think it's a bit limited because they decide what questions to ask people. I really would like to know more about people's own personal experiences of taking this stuff, because I don't see a lot of that on patient leaflets or online med sites.
So anyone who would like to share experiences (it worked, it didn't work, side effects etc), I'd like to hear from you.
My first priority is making a decision next week about having Mirtazapine or Pregabalin, but after that I would also be interested in people's experiences with other antidepressants, including the ones I used to take.
I used to take an antidepressant SEROPLEX ( escitalopram). I have been sweating excessively for 3 months, very difficult to sweat so much ; my doctor told me the sweating was due to SEROPLEX and I stopped taking this drug 17 days ago: yet , I'm still sweating a lot: is it normal ?
the chemist of the laboratory which sends this drug told me " 17 days is not very long and the secondary effects vary from one people to another"". One week ago I had a blood-exam and also a lung radiography which were normal. My doctor is on vacation in august and I don't know what to do.
does anyone use a combination of a low amount of mirtazapine for sleep, combined with an antidepressant ?
