Inderal While Coming Xanax To Control Blood Pressure

I have been taking Xanax for anxiety for about 6 yrs. I would like to get off of it. When I start to wean off of it, my blood pressure goes way up to like 178/90 and heart rate also increases. I have been on Toprol for years ..150mg in a.m. and 50 mg. in evening. Yet as I decrease the Xanax, the BP goes up and I need it to stay at a normal range of at least in the 130s or 140s, but it goes higher, I don't want a stroke.

I was wondering, since I had taken a low dose Inderal years ago for regulating my heart rate because of MVP(when Inderal was made by Wyeth), I was wondering if Inderal could be added to my taking the doses of Toprol I now take, while I decrease my Xanax more and more to be able to keep my BP stable and from going up higher while the Xanax is being depleted from my system? Xanax always kept my BP at a stable 120-140 range, while on the Toprol. But now that the Xanax is being depleted from my bloodstream, the Toprol no longer keeps the BP at a safe level. Would it be wise to ask the doctor if I could incorporate some Inderal into my medication to help Toprol keep the BP at a safe level while I am weaning off Xanax.

Coming Off Mirtazapine And Weight Gain

I'm already taking Pristiq however was having episodes of anxiety, panic attacks and insomnia and so my doctor also prescribed me mirtazapine. In some ways it has been a miracle, as somebody suffering from severe social phobia it has helped me to open up a little to the outside world and even attending social outings which is not like me. I feel far less stressed as well. I WISH I could stay on it!

The problem I am having is I've put one a huge amount of weight in the month or so I've been taking it. I've put on at least 7kg but probably more by now, I am visibly much fatter, and being a bit overweight in the first place (and wanting to lose weight) means this far outweighs the benefits. I suddenly have a huge appetite and I cannot control my eating, it is becoming a real problem. I've read people say to get over it and simply control your eating but it isn't that easy, before I even try a strictly healthy diet, I need to get off these pills and give my body a chance to get over these cravings.

My first question is, if I were to stop taking mirtazapine, or even start taking one every 2nd day to eventually taper off, can I expect any awful side effects? I have big exams in a week and I don't want to risk nasty side effects, however I'm really worried I will just keep stacking on the weight even in that short week, I want to get off them ASAP. I haven't been on them all that long so am wondering if I will experience anything bad if I cut back on them. My other antidepressants cause me vertigo if I miss a pill.

Second question, has anyone had any luck with other anti-depressant or anti-anxiety medication that helps with general/social anxiety, that does not cause weight gain? I know everyone reacts to medications differently but I'm just interested to see if there is an alternative to mirtazapine without this one (seemingly very common) side effect.

Tips / Experiences - Coming Off Mirtazapine

I have been on 30mg mirtazapine for four years. I tried to come off them a couple of years ago and failed miserably, returning to my full dose after 10 days of awful anxiety and insomnia, as well as migraines and nausea. I had cut my dose to 15mg for a week and then dropped to zero.

This time I read every thread on here about mirtazapine withdrawal and started off really slowly, cutting down by just 3.75mg for two weeks. Then by a further 3.75 mg. At the same time I started taking a lot of inositol. I take a huge heaped teaspoon in my tea every morning. I had only slight nausea when I first started dropping my dose but I think that was me getting used to the inositol. Once I was down to 22.5mg of mirt, with no withdrawal symptoms, I figured I could go a bit faster and dropped my dose down to 15mg. I had no withdrawal symptoms after ten days and so have now dropped my dose to 11.25mg. I use a simple pill cutter from ebay to cut my tablets. So I am now on three quarters of a 15mg tablet. Mirtazapine had pooped out on me and so I already have terrible insomnia. I take temazepam some nights and benadryl on others to help me with that.

I will post my progress here. Who knows, I may fail miserably, but whatever the outcome, I hope it will help others. I was terrified of coming off mirtazapine, but now I am excited by it. I think the key is to take it really slowly and work out the pace your body can cope with. The smaller your dose goes, thee smaller the decrease in your dose should be. Good luck everyone, and please post your own experiences here. I know some people have really suffered despite coming off mirt very slowly. Everyone is different and I think everyone's experience can be a real help to others.

Mirtazapine :: Best Plan Coming Off / Tapering Off It?

I am trying desperately to come off mirtazapine and I am trying to work out the best plan to withdraw, 26 days ago I reduced my dose from 30 to 15, although I am bearing it, the side effects are awful, I have a thick headache, nausea, trembling, but to name a few, today I burst into tears for no apparent reason, please can someone tell me if this is normal? I was hoping to cut the dose down by half again, does anyone know if this happens after each reduction ? And when is right time to reduce.

Citalopram For Anxiety But It's Not Helping Sleeping

I have been taking these pills for about 10 days and initially the side effects were awful, nausea, sick, no appetite, more anxious and virtually no sleep. After taking first pill in morning I realised it made me sleepy so switched to taking before bed in the hope it would help with my sleeping. Unfortunately not - did get one good night at weekend and felt so much better yesterday but last night it's like back to square one. Anyone got similar experience - currently on 10mg citalopram and don't see doctor again till November.

Cannabis :: Helping My Boyfriend Off Weed

This is a bit lengthy so I will try to shorten it the best I can. Please note that this is dire. About ten months ago my boyfriend and I rekindled our friendship and we ended up being together. At first, before we started dating he was into drinking and smoking (weed), but I refused to date anyone who has done those things because I personally couldn't handle being around stressful environments, (I am diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolar 1).

So, he claimed he came to stop smoking and drinking if it meant us being together. Through the months, we had terrible, terrible fights - usually I blamed myself because I become manic on occasion - but as of just a week ago he's been acting even far more stranger. We usually never go anywhere without the other, but he started talking to a guy friend at work he met no longer than five days ago and he was invited to a party. He told me he was going to go whether I wanted him too or not, so I asked if I could go along and he was fine with it but demanding I act appropriate. (Which I am not all that bad around public).

Before we went we got into a fight, he shouted at me that he never got alone time and I asked if he'd choose his new friend over me. He said, he's going to the party no matter what and I was going to leave...But then he broke down in tears. Later on that night, he told me he wanted me to accept him for himself. He claimed that his true self was the guy he was before dating me, the one who was drinking and smoking. He said he didn't need to drink but he missed the smoking. That he needs it in order to keep positive and stress free so he doesn't yell at me. Breaking every moral I had, I agreed to let him do it - we went home so he can go smoke but I didn't want to have to see it so I tried to leave. He came to me before I left and said he didn't do it and he was sorry. Sorry that he choose the party over me and sorry for yelling at me and making me cry. He claimed he didn't know what he was doing or why.

Eventually through the week, he promised he wouldn't do it again until yesterday. He called me after work and said he needed to go to his friends house to say goodbye because he was moving. He demanded I stay home. I wanted to go with, I was already going through a manic episode and needed, yes, need, to be watched over. (if left alone I can get a little suicidal, not meaning too.) He refused to let me go. My friend, whose my other caretaker, came over to find me at a complete distraught. She was angry and took me over to his house just in time to catch him before he was going to leave.

When he saw me, he burst into tears, saying he was sorry but he needed to tell me something; that he had been still smoking through the entire relationship. He claimed he was trying to stop the whole time, that at first he was only taking a puff once to twice every week until recently where he went to once every week and that every time we got into a fight was because he hadn't take a recent puff. He said that the recent fights we got into were because he was scared of telling me about his smoking and how he didn't quit while the entire time I thought he had. He broke down and is begging for my help, thinking I can help him through but I have no idea HOW too.

I suffer from severe manic episodes, and if I am unlucky, psychotic ones also. We have little to no money at all, even for me to go see a psychiatrist for the meds I need for my mental conditions. I will not leave him...but I so desperately need help to help him.

Penis Fracture And Jammed :: Cialis Not Helping The Issue

I'm a healthy 25 year old male and I've been dealing with ED over the last year and a half or so after potentially sustaining an injury during intercourse. I had no major signs of fracture but jammed it very hard. My symptoms have become gradually worse since that time. These include generally reduced sensitivity, difficulty achieving maximum erections, extreme difficulty maintaining erections (doesn't ever seem to lock-in anymore), some increased curvature at base on one side. I have had a doppler ultrasound and pelvic MRI performed with no negative results, although neither involved induced erections. Cialis seems to help minorly, but nowhere near solves the issue. I'd love some advice on what this might be and what other tests can be done to diagnose it.

Bell's Palsy :: Methylcobalamin, Acupuncture And Steroids/acyclovir Are Helping

Hi I am a 32 year old third time sufferer of bells palsy. I always seem to get it at this time of year - May/June and am thus starting to wonder if it is related to my intense hay fever. While I have used the standard steroid/acyclovir combo each time I have also found acupuncture to be helpful and I am undergoing treatment twice weekly at the moment as I am in the acute stages of the bells. I also take Methylcobalamin B12 as a supplement to protect nerve tissue. Dont let Bells take over your life! If you can manage the pain and breathe through the experience you will come out stronger the other side.

Mirtazapine :: Tapering Off Mirtazapine - Spinning Myself In Circles

For the first time in a very long time, I'm finally in a good enough place to make the step in coming off my Anti-depressant. I've been on Mirtazapine 45mg for the last 4/5 years and before that a string of various of medications.

Despite my anxiety been kind of excessive at the moment, after a discussion with my GP, he was happy to let me begin tapering down the dose. The problem is with my anxiety I feel it mainly physically rather than mentally so it makes me a little oversensitive to any changes that take place in my body.

I guess what I am searching for is some reassurance so I can stop driving myself up the wall, exhausting google search on mirtazapine withdrawal. 6 nights ago I started my first reduction so 45 mg to 30mg. In all honesty it's not been that bad, a few waves of nausea, headaches and random aches and pains. Those I was expecting so don't mind too much. The trouble is that for the last 3 days, I've found myself a little short of breath for most of the day. It's nothing that's outwardly noticeable at the moment, but it's there and is slightly concerning. Has anyone else experienced this when tapering?

I'm kind of freaked out a little because one of my fears that's arisen since the mirtazapine is the that i will develop random allergies and my brain is wondering if I've suddenly developed an allergy to my meds (ridiculous, I know!) The other thing is that the rest of my family has had either viral chest problems lately so maybe I've just picked up that and it's a coincidence? Or it could just be the anxiety.

I'm totally spinning myself in circles at the moment so any wise words are most welcome at this point. If I know it is just withdrawal and nothing that can actually hurt me then I'm fine with whatever effects it throws at me.

Mirtazapine To Citalopram To Mirtazapine

I was initially on(30mg) for 8 weeks for depression and anxiety. And I did start to feel better, although the blurry vision and the derealisation side effects started to make me anxious again. I think the light head was the anxiety not the tablets.

Went back to work and made an appointment with the Doctor to see if there was another antidepressant with no side effects as I didn't think the Mirt was working.

He told me how to gradually come off the Mirtazapine and then to start Those days coming off the Mirtazapine were fine and the 3 days I took nothing I felt great again! Well what an awful reaction I had to the Citalopram ! Heart thumping, sickness, mind racing, pins and needles, total insomnia for 3 days and the anxiety attacks were awful! I actually phoned NHS Direct.

When I spoke to the Doctor , he said that I had a reaction and the tablets obviously didn't agree. In a knowing smile, he said that I should perhaps go back on the Mirt and that I came off them too quickly.

I am now on no medication , but can feel the awful anxiety still there from the Citalopram episode and am wondering if I will slip back to square one again if I don't take anything. The Doctor has given me a prescription for 15mg 1 week and thereafter 30mg. Perhaps the side effects weren't that bad and as the nurse said " only got bothersome because I was feeling better".

So I'm thinking that I will go back to the Mirtazapine and perhaps they aren't that bad!
