View 1 RepliesI've recently discovered that i have flashes(just tiny little ones) sometimes, and it happens when i look to the left then downwards. My prescription is -1.75 and -2.00 and i haven't experienced floaters so far. Is this normal?
View 1 RepliesI've been doing a lot of reading about black spots in vision and the term 'floaters' doesn't seem to apply in my case. I first noticed it a week or so ago when I was reading on Kindle. There is a black spot that is constant, in my left eye, its small and I can see it pretty much all the time if reading at the right angle I can use it almost like a pointer moving it along the line of text I'm reading. I've also had blurred vision but I put that down to tiredness from reading from electronic device. I've also noticed a 'cobweb' like line in my other eye that again is constant. I'm booked in for an eye test but its not for a while I'm starting to get bit worried.
View 14 RepliesOk so i have this weird problem with my eyes. Randomly (happened a lot when a year ago but stopped until now) i start seeing distorted lines. Kind of like millions of tiny prisms are rotating in a line. The lines often start in the center of my vision (making it hard to read) then migrate to cover the left or right side of my vision (but no longer the center)
It appears to be transparent but it is actually not due to the flashing of colours all over it.
They often take shapes but they seem abstract and are hard to focus on. Kind of like a multicolored distortion prism floater (the lines that you can see floating sometimes) although it grows to cover ~30% of my vision.
The "distortion" often stays visible (or moves out of sight) between 20 minutes and 3 hours.
I have not discovered any trigger for this "distortion"
I just wondered if any of you guys see things in the corner off your eyes like flashes and things going across the room and floaters..

View 1 RepliesI have been seeing pin point flashes in my eye for a long time, a few months now. they vary in color from red to silver. they last for half a second and appear out of nowhere with no warning signs. i have also been seeing a lots of floaters which appear as moving dark black lines rather than squiggly bubbles ( i see the squiggly bubbles too but they happen rarely). the dark lines don't usually bother me unless im looking at a wall or when i'm outside. if i'm outside during daytime the frequency of seeing the dark lines greatly increases even if i'm just looking at the ground. oh there's also something else, whenever i look at the sky at daytime i see a lot of glitter moving around almost looking like shooting stars.
View 2 RepliesI'm late 5s,have had floaters since my 20s,back then they were small black or clear dots, fast forward, late fifties, now i've had pvds in both eyes, vitreous gel shrinks and pulls away from the back of the eye,now i have these clear to gauzy larger floaters, plus one large clumpy black one and I can't ignore them anymore. PVD is age related. I am just lucky enough to have these awful larger ones that can blur and obstruct vision. How does a person deal with it. Oh yes I also am starting to have dry eyes. Both also can cause hazy vision. Unless you've experienced it,no one else can relate
View 3 RepliesI have been having some concerns with my vision to start off I have myopia and astigmatism, but recently I had noticed a flash of light. It happened when I was sleeping, so I'm not 100 percent sure if it was part of a dream or if I really saw it. I also noticed that if I turned my heart really quickly from right to left I would see what looked like a gold light around my eye that last for maybe a few seconds. I was super worried at that point and went to see my eye doctor as soon as possible she didn't see any tears or any signs of a detached retina but did notice that my vision prescription had changed. To be on the safe side she suggested I go see an opthamologist in a few weeks. I of course was too worried to wait a few weeks so I made the appointment right after my eye doctor visit.
The opthamologist checked my vision and told me my eyes were healthy and everything looked fine. She suggested that the flashes could be caused by ocular migraines and told me unless I am seeing tons of flashes, floaters, or dark curtains over my eye then its okay to see a few. I was very relieved with the news, but I still am worried something is wrong. I thought I saw some flashes today in my peripheral vision and my vision seemed a little off. My vision seeming off is most likely due to needing new glasses. I noticed some of the possible flashes today when I was in an area where there is bright lights. Could really bright lighting/sunlight causes eye flashes or my vision to act weird?
I also use my smart phone quite a bit and notice it when I'm using my phone for extended periods of time. Could that cause flashes or vision issues? and could having too much caffeine cause vision problems? I don't really feel like going back to my doctor every time I see flashes, but I just worry if I don't maybe it could be something serious. I have just been stressing and having awful anxiety about it even though I was just told my vision was fine literally a few days ago.
Has anyone else experienced this? Thank you if you took the time to read this I know its super long lol. I'm just not sure what to do I mean maybe I'm just being paranoid or just letting anxiety get the better of me.
Has anyone experienced 'flashes' in an eye - (totally different to floaters)?
If so, how long did it last - have been told could take up to three months.
Did it get worse with deteriorating peripheral vision - a sign of retinal displacement.?
Suddenly today I noticed that I seemed to have a film over my right eye and I was experiencing floaters. I had multifocal lens replacement surgery a couple years ago. Everything went well. It was the best thing I had done. I wore glasses since I about 7. I had a couple small floaters before the surgery but only saw them now and then. I had put some oil on my face earlier today and was wondering if some had gotten into my eye , would it have caused this to happen? I put saline drops in my eye and visine thinking this may have been the cause. trying to rinse out my eye. It did not help and am getting worried that something may be wrong. What worries me is that it came on sort of fast and has been the same all day. I also have been under a lot of stress lately, working long hours. Would really like some advice on what to do.
View 1 RepliesI am having trouble dealing with this daily, anyone else?
View 8 RepliesI am just recovering from shingles. I have never felt so ill in all my life or been so tired. I have been left with intermittent pain in my hairline where the blisters were and also in my eye. It seems to come on every afternoon and last all night. My eye waters and I have developed floaters and blurred vision. I have tried paracetamol which helps with the pain but not with the sensitivity to light and blurred vision.I go to bed with a cold damp flannel but it doesn't seem to help much, my scalp also itches unbearably.
View 1 RepliesHas anyone with Lyme had eye symptoms.. sensitivity to light blurry vision. floaters..similar to a static television set images..if so can you tell me when your issues started to resolve and what treatments were used for this particular symptoms.
View 3 RepliesI was having frequent headaches and occasionally feeling lightheaded with floaters. I went to the opticians and they referred me to the ophthalmologist who put eye drops in and said that at the back of my left eye the optic nerve was sheeted. (I don't understand what this term means and cannot see anything on the internet to explain either) He just said that I didn't have any other symptoms for Optic Neuritis and wasn't sure but didn't think it was anything sinister. I am now waiting for a scan of the eye to see what that shows.
However, the last couple of weeks I have been getting pins and needles all over my body, mainly in arms and legs. I've also had general aching pains.
I have read online about symptoms and they point to all kinds of things, Fibromyalgia, Anxiety and possibly MS. As you can imagine this has really scared me as I have read that problems with the optic nerve can also be related.
Has anyone else had these symptoms or are they too few for me to be making assumptions?
A little history on me: I'm 21/F. I have generalized anxiety, panic disorder, depression, PCOS, TMJ, and IBSD. These are all issues I have been dealing with. Medication list: Prozac (20 mg). Vitamin D (5,000 IU). Vitamin B12 injection (once a month). Iron (324 mg). Birth control. Ativan (.05 as needed).
My vision has changed since the beginning of this year. I now see small, clear halos when looking at bright, solid surfaces (such as the sky, walls, etc). I also see an odd wave, jelly-like substance when looking at similar surfaces. When I squint my eyes, I see a line of 20 small dots. All of the floaters I have mentioned move in an odd way, like they're falling. When I try to focus on them, my eyes make the floaters "jump" back to the top of my vision, only to begin falling again. These always look different (never the same spots or lines) and occur in both eyes. When I am focusing on something, such as the TV, I see random dots in my peripheral vision, but when I look in that direction there is nothing there. Went to the eye doctor, said everything looked fine, I am nearsighted, and any disturbances were ocular migraines. I have had three ocular migraines, where I can very clearly see rainbow lines in my vision. These occur when I have gotten very worked up/anxious and only last a few seconds. The floaters I have previously mentioned occur ALL the time. I can look at the sky at any time during daylight, and see them. Brought these issues up to my general practitioner and said this was nothing to worry about, but keep an eye on it.
When looking down or look around quickly, I feel a visual dizziness and off-balance.
PLEASE, if you have any information on what the possible causes of these disturbances/floaters could be, let me know. My doctors aren't worried, but I 100% am. I'm young, why am I having eye issues? I don't wear contacts and only wear glasses when driving.
I'm 14 and I could see worm-like things in my vision. It's been going on for a few years. They're kinda like clear, segmented lines, often forming some kind of clutch.Their numbers seem to have increased and the sizes of each 'worm' is noticeably larger than usual too.I have been seeing them more frequently. What are these, really?
View 1 RepliesMy eyes have been really bad for 2 weeks I bought that they would get better but they have got worse, somethings that I look at reflect off. For example when I'm looking at someone when I look I the side I can see them like their reflection sort of thing it's really weird. Also my eye site is really fizzy, even with my new glasses on. I get headaches as well. I do have anxiety and suffer migraine attacks as did wonder if it had something to do with that in really worried and can't take any more. I am seeing a doctor in a few days, but I'm worried till then
View 1 RepliesMy friend had retinal detachment after a hand stroke a year ago. First, his sight was 70%, then it came to 5%. few days ago now he had operation, and his vision is 20% now. Please, what are the methods for regenerating the photoreceptors and can something be done after such a long time?
View 1 RepliesI was born with 2d vision and a squint in both eyes. Also have monocular vision.
I have had 6 operations, 3 on each eye to correct eyes.
I believe that my right eye is getting worse. Vision wise, and squint too.
I only had my glasses changed last November, then only 2 months ago. And Already is my right vision with my new glasses getting worse again. That's only 2 months.
I am seeing someone this Tuesday about it as my optician thinks it's to do with my squint and hitting my head as to why my vision is getting worse.
I was just curious as I am struggling with stairs. If I don't know the stairs I have to hold on and go slow. Like yesterday was in a shop and the stairs was all the same wood, I thought I was going to fall down them as I walked up to them but didn't prepare myself, the feeling is horrible feel like you're on the edge of a cliff. If I know the stairs and they are not too wide. But also my question is, can I drive? I drive now, but have always said I struggle.
Actually my 8 months baby girl started squint her left eye inward from last 2 months. In start she do this rarely but now it's increasing day b day specially when she focus on far objects. Today i visit to Dr for her checkup and the Dr suggested her nearsighted glasses.
I am actually confused that her squint is due to her poor vision? or due to poor vision she squient her eye?
I mean poor vision and squint are two different things as i know. right?
Why she only squint when she focus on long distance objects?
