Pain :: Disc Bulge/protrusion At L5/S1 Impinging S1 Nerve Root

I'm wondering if anyone has found any ways to get nerve pain relief. My nerve pain is excruciating from my knee to my foot in my right leg. Also experiencing significant atrophy.

I have a disc bulge/protrusion at L5/S1 impinging S1 nerve root.

Painkillers don't help the nerve pain at all. Wondering if anyone has found any ways to lay down, ice, anything to help take the nerve pain away that I could try.

Disc Prolapse :: Spinal Disc Decompression For Central Disc Bulge In L5/S1

I have been experiencing the lower back pain which is local from last 5 years. My MRI reports says that there is a central disc bulge at l5/s1. Where outer annular tear is intact.

I have seen a chiropractor who has recommended spinal disc decompression sessions on Hill DT.

As per the doctor, it will relocate the disc back to its normal position and make the disc healthier as before.

Just would like to know if someone has gone for the similar treatment for the similar problem. If yes kindly share your experience.

And now 4 days into this pain I have a large lump I can feel under the skin about the size of a 10p its about 3cm from the bum crack and is extremely sore to touch has anyone any idea if this is related to my other problems or something else as I don't know weather to go doctors or wait for my next physio.

Hip Replacement :: Pain From Sitting To Standing And Walking

I'm 27, I got ejected out of a car at 17. I broke my hip and shattered my pelvis. My first surgery was to reconstruct my pelvis than a year later I had a total hip replacement. I hurt every single day, the worst pain is from sitting to standing and walking that initial step on my bad hip is excruciating. I don't take pain meds anymore if anyone has any tip for pain relief.

Disc Protrusion Is Seen At L5-S1 Disc

I just received the report of the MRI:

"Disc protrusion is seen at L5-S1 disc which on transaxial imaging central right sided displacing the right S1 nerve root causing some canal stenosis and minor content on the thecal sac. Conclusion: Moderately large-central-right sided disc protrusion at L5-S1 disc"

It's since July that I have pain starting from my right leg until my feet where I feel pins and needles.

My question is if somebody had this kind of report and what should I do. My GP told me to go to a specialist but to be honest I don't know how to start.

Disc Bulge At C6 / C7 - Injection Or Surgery?

I have a 'notable' disc bulge at C6 C7, plus a minor bulge above, which is trapping a nerve root and causing impingement on the spinal cord. I have been in extreme pain for over 12 weeks and have been prescribed numerous medications which, apart from OxyContin, have provided little relief. I have had physio but they've said there's nothing more they can do for me. Arm pain is especially bad, pins/needles and thumb & 1st two fingers numb. My urine flow is compromised as it is very slow, esp in the morning / at night. I have now developed 'heavy' legs with pain in the left one (affected side) and occasional bad headaches with visual disturbance. The neck itself has become more painful at late and there is also more noticeable pain in the centre of my back which feels like someone is sticking a knife in. I am generally very tired as the meds affect my sleep - getting no more than 4 hours a night.

Been off work sick for about 8 weeks now but am on an absence monitoring procedure, so if I have any more time off following this long term absence my teaching job is at risk - this is causing much anxiety.

Been referred 'urgently' by my doctor to a consultant and am awaiting an appt any time.

Has anyone had similar symptoms and, if so, What treatment is likely to be recommended?

If injection, it worries me that it may not work for long then I'm off work again and will probably lose it. However, surgery carries it's own risks too.

I just can't go on like this. The pain is really affecting my quality of life now.

Sorry for the long post. I'm a newbie and wanted to provide as much background info as possible in the hope that someone else may have had a similar experience. What treatment was offered and how effective was it please?

Bulging Disc And Spinal Canal Narrowing - Operation To Release The Bulge?

I am a 27 year old female who has has back problems since the age of 21 when I got pregnant with my little girl. I have gradually got worse over the past 6 years and am now permanently on crutches to help me walk. I cannot do daily tasks and am in pain 24/7 and have been for some time.

I have asked for 5 years for a MRI on my back as I knew something wasn't right but I have just been told it would be a waste of my time and the medical professionals time.

Anyway after a breakdown at the rheumatologist and my last resort after years of medication, pain management courses, physio and wasted doctors appointments I had to beg for an MRI and he reluctantly agreed.

The MRI has shown a significant bulging disc in my 4th vertebrae which has narrowed my spinal canal and is causing nerve compression leading to problems with loss of feeling in my legs and lady parts as well as pain.

I suppose the biggest question I have is after such a long time before being discovered, what are the chances of my nerves being permanently damaged even if I have the operation to release the bulge?

Is the operation actually going to make a difference?

Sitting, Standing, And Walking - Sudden Dizziness

I don't know exactly where to start or how to describe my issue, but I know something isn't right. 2 days ago I woke up as I normally do from a good night's sleep and immediately knew something wasn't right. I was feeling faint and dizzy, but it wasn't a constant feeling that wouldn't go away. I would have these episodes about every 5 or 6 seconds apart from one another. 2 days later (today) it hasn't gone away and it's actually getting worse. It feels like I'm getting hit with a hammer and that's when everything starts to go faint and an instant dose of dizziness smacks me in the head. I honestly feel like I'm going to just kill over and pass out, but I don't. after a few seconds it stops, but then after I take a few more steps it does it all over again. This happens whether I'm standing up, walking, sitting down or even laying down. It just won't stop. Prior to this, there was a week where I got about 5 or 6 major migraines in one week. Not sure if this is related or not? I have no ins.

Polymyalgia Rheumatica :: How To Do Repetitive Movements - Sitting And Walking

I'm really in need of working my body. Now with osteoporosis diagnosis and so much muscle loss and Trochanteric Hip pain back, and other PMR pains still there when my Pred wears off...

I need to exercise, but I'm confused...

I know, low reps. I should repeat several times a day, but forget.

I'm about to start PT again for hip and will make sure this guy doesn't make me work out to failure like my last experience, ugh.

I have a video for Qi Gong, but I don't like it as he seems to stay with same motion for so long. But as I type this I realize I could just stop and focus on breathing exercises...ha, answered that question.

My butt muscles are so gone now I struggle to keep pants up.

I do squat exercises but am I doing enough? I feel fairly strong, but I weigh so little now perhaps it doesn't take much.

I lift weights for my biceps, they actually look pretty good for a woman, Hee, Hee.

I know we are all different, when I feel good I try to do a little and I mean little extra, but sometimes I'll have new pain. Yoga I can do pretty well, but do tend to push myself...is it too much? I don't know. It is a gentle yoga class, very slow, I like it,,good teacher.

Not sure what I'm asking y'all but maybe just need to hear what others are going through. Those who still feel pains, what kind of exercises are you doing? Yes, I'm back up to a whoppin' mile walking, but sure would like to do more.

Do you walk several times a day? I walk a lot around house but does that count? Yes, better than sitting I know.

Partial Knee Replacement - Pain upon Walking After Sitting For 15-20 Minutes

partial knee replacement was done in October. I did all exercises and everything was fine in November - January. Toward the end of February I began experiencing pain upon walking after sitting for 15-20 minutes. I'm limping and it is painful for about 30 steps. It is getting worse. What could this be? My doc is out of town until April.

Endometriosis Laparoscopy Too Much Pain On Sitting And Laying On Sides

I had a successful Diagnostic Laparoscopy for suspected Endometriosis under general anesthesia in a general hospital and it was done in a little over one hour, I remained in recovery care for 4 hours due to pain and low blood pressure procedure was done yesterday (29th) fortunately doctor was able to treat all the areas/spots that contained Endometriosis growth/adhesions, she made 4 incisions and said that the procedure was smooth and successful. I've been home for roughly 22 hours now. I had a catheter so I'm left with a moderate burning and discomfort which seems to slowly be wearing off in my urethra it's naturally very narrow but thankfully I am able to urinate regardless of the Burning and the discomfort which I was told to expect. I managed to drink mint tea, water, juice and a light meal yesterday though I didn't have much of an appetite and I haven't eaten today either I just don't feel like it at all did this happen to any of you ladies? I am consistent with the pain and anti-inflammatory meds that I have prescribed for me due to the amount of pain I am in. So far I'm in bed laying on my back either resting or sleeping I feel incredibly exhausted. I have a follow up in 4 weeks or so with my doctor and I have her cell number as well which is comforting. Now I just want to know am I the only one who couldn't sit the first day of the surgery? If I force myself to sit I.e when I go to the bathroom I'm in so much pain and it kinda got worse after I got home probably due to the wearing off of the anesthesia. All I know for sure is sitting and the mere attempt of laying on my sides results in lots of pain and the only comforting and least painful position is to lay back down on my back with my head slightly elevated and my feet as well. My abdominal area feels awfully sore and.....

Pilonidal Sinus Coming Back? Pain On Sitting

Can anyone advise me? I had my first PS op last June '09. I am still experiencing pain when sitting for any length of time - whether in office for the day - or on car journey. I have not had recurrence of actual opening of the wound itself (altho it took a long time to close) and no abscess' - but the discomfort frightens me that it could be coming back! My GP tells me to wait and see for a while!

General :: Lower Right Abdominal Swelling, Pain When Walking, Random Sharp Pain

Me: 20 y/o female, 5ft5, 135lbs. (I have been losing some weight so I don't think I am pregnant.)

A week or two ago I was having this weird feeling, like tugging, in my belly button it was accompanied by some sharp pains on and off. A few days ago i noticed that the right side of my tummy, starting in the lower right quarter of my belly button and going about two - three inches down and about the same to the right, maybe a bit further, was swollen. It isn't super noticeable unless you look right in my belly button because I have some tummy fat, but the right is absolutely swollen. It is not a lump, but honestly just feels like fatty tissue or water retention. It isn't very tender, sometimes it feels like there is a bruise but there isn't, there is a spot that seems more tender. I have had this sharp tearing pain but it is very random and hasn't been bed enough for an ER visit. When I walk it hurts but it is very dull.

I have a doctors apt on monday but I am worried that this could be something bad.

I am not sure if this is related but it seems like it is (TMI sort of period stuff below just a heads up...)

I usually have normal/ heavy periods that last about 5-6 days. This time it started off very light, the next day i had about 12 hours of soaking a regular tampon in like an hour and a half (this is really unusual) and then it tapered off that night. The bleeding only lasted 2-3 days and the last bit was this strange copper color as opposed to bright red or brown. This is pretty strange for me.

Ischial Tuberosity (sitting-bone) Pain :: Physiotherapy Aggravated The Issue

I've been having pain sitting, standing, & walking very far (at all) for over a year now. I had a spinal fusion done at the L -5/S -1 level back in 2002, & my docs keep close tabs on my back. I've had a tiny tear in the L-4 for many years, but most the docs feel my current problem has absolutely nothing to do with my spine - I agree. I have been diagnosed with a hip labral tear in my right hip socket about 4 months ago, but not bothered enough to do the drastic surgery. Doc injected left hip socket due to pain, but again, not my main problem.

I've had physical therapy (which aggravated the left socket), steroid injections into the ischial tuberosity bursa (both sides) - due to the doc thinking probable ischial tuberosity bursitis, which it is not, & am scheduled for an EMG down both sides of my lumbar spine (I hate those tests - they really hurt!). Meanwhile, I've been working with my chiropractor who does adjustments, percussion massage, iontophoresis, & cold laser treatment on me twice a week.

NO ONE knows what this is, WHERE to send me, or how to FIX it!
