Chlamydia Cured? How Long To Take Doxycycline And Lamisil
Mar 13, 2011
I was diagnosed with chlamydia nearly 3 weeks ago and was prescribed doxycycline twice a day for 7 days and was told by my doctor to not have sex for 3 weeks. The first time i took the antibiotic rashes all over my body appeared. I have had an allergic reaction to one other antibiotic before but i assumed it was a one time thing. Since i was worried that my rashes would get worse i did not take the second pill on the first day but i made it up by taking 3 pills on a separate day. I also opened the capsules of the pill and poured the medicine in water the next two days but then went back to taking them normally after that. I finished taking my medication this past tuesday but i still have a small dark spot near my urethra although it is smaller than it was before i started taking the medication. My doctor also told me to apply lamisil to get rid of the fungi which i have been applying. Am i cured of chlamydia? Should the spot have disappeared by now? I have no other symptoms but of course i know that they can be dormant. Would taking the medicine with water and not taking one pill have any effect on curing the chlamydia?

When I went in for a routine pelvic exam, I tested positive for Chlamydia. I immediately received treatment, and informed my partner that he needed to be tested and treated as soon as I was able to, which was 5 days after. Of course he wanted to have sex (even after I told him the news) and I finally agreed, but only with a condom on. He then got treatment the following day. We were informed by our health clinic to abstain from having sex at least 7 days after receiving treatment, but of course like the absolute idiots we are, we didn't. Because I am the big idiot that I am, I had to receive a second round of antibiotics which meant him and I both took them the same day following intercourse with protection. Not sure what our issue with being celibate for 7 days is exactly, but we had sex this past Tuesday with protection, but only a day after taking the antibiotics. I felt a little bit of discomfort when urinating afterwards, but assumed it was due to having sex. Just this morning, he prompted me to have sex again, and we did with protection, but afterwards he continued to try to have sex this time without a condom. I don't need anyone to tell me how idiotic it was to allow him to have sex with me without a condom, but I can't change what happened now. After having sex a second time, unprotected, this morning I had the most excruciating pain while urinating. I wanted to cry it hurt that bad. My partner has also experienced some discomfort while urinating after having sex this morning. I guess what I would like is some guidance, answers, suggestions, possible diagnosis? I am currently assuming the worst that him and I have indeed re-infected ourselves, but just wanted to throw my predicament out there for some outside opinions.

During one of my sexual encounters, the guy I was with slipped up and stuck his penis in my butt by accident. I ended up becoming infected vaginally with chlamydia and I had tested positive for herpes 1. I don't know if he was the one that infected me, but would I have also gotten it in my butt then as well if he was infected? I took doxycycline for 7 days, 2 times a day and cured myself of chlamydia vaginally. Would that have cured it in my butt as well if I had become infected there?

I have been given Doxycycline as antimalarial. I was alittle surprised when I got the info book out to read this drug is also used to treat other things, I was under the impression that antimalarials were drugs in themselves. Obviously not!
Seems a bit silly to me on the front it says "avoid exposing skin to direct sunlight" well that is slightly hard because I am going to south africa which is why I am taking these!
Just wondering if anyone has taken these for anti-malarials and what your experiences are?

I just picked up my first Lyme prescription and was surprised to see two antibiotics, Doxycycline & Hydroxychloroquine. I'm not sure if I am supposed to take this together or the doxy first and THEN the hydroxy when I finish that.
Obviously, I can wait until the morn and call my doc, but I'd love to get started tonight. Anyone know if these are usually prescribed together for Lyme?

I have been experiencing hair loss for the past 3 months and im not sure why. A couple pf months before i started losing hair i was on doxycycline 50mg twice a day for about two months as well as metformin for pcos. I also had my hair chemically straightened with bio ionic retex system. Although i have had the smoothing treatment before and never experienced any hair loss. I have stopped both medications and no longer blow dry or straighten myhair as i used to do it everyday. Even three months after stopping meds my hair continues to fall although it seems to have lessened somewhat. I have lost more than half of my hair which used me so thick long and curly. I went two different derms. First one checked iron, thyroid, lupus, and testostrone levels and everything came back normal. The first derm denied it could be the doxycycline however second derm said it probably was the doxycycline as she has had patients on doxy experience hair loss but assured me it would grow back. She told me to come back in three months but im so worried about it constantly and dont want to go bald. Most of hair loss seems to be on the back of head near neck/nape area and front, my part is also thinning. I dont think its the pcos because i have had that for over 5 years and never experienced hair loss or thinning before plus i heard that is supppsed to begradual mine has been all of a sudden.

Would a syphilis test, both non treponemal test or treponemal tests, be affected by taking 2 days of doxycycline prior to the test?
By 2 days of doxy I mean 500mg to be exact.

I had both protected vaginal sex and unprotected oral sex 2 days ago with an new partner and am having worries I may have contracted a STD. At the moment I have no symptoms but decided to schedule a STD check in the next couple of days to ensure its detection. Today (2 days after potential exposure) I took two Doxycycline hyclate 100mg pills that I was prescribed for acne. I'm worried this may adversely affect the test results.
Was this dose of antibiotics enough to mess with my results? What do you recommend? How risky is it to be infected by chlamydia or gonorehha through protected vaginal and unprotected oral sex?

I lived in Spain for a couple of years when I was 14 and I had a drunk one night stand at the age of 15 with a spanish boy, I wasn't sure if it was protected but when I found out about a year later that I had chlamydia I presume that it was unprotected. Ever since I have moved back from Spain, I have a boyfriend who I have been with for 16 months, the day I found out we both went straight to the clinic to get it treated. Even though it was only just me who came back positive for it, my boyfriend took some pills for it too and he also did a test, and for some reason came out negative. I stopped taking the pill about a month ago, I am nearly 18 and me and my boyfriend want to try for a baby, but I have always had a fear that I cannot get pregnant due to the fact i've had chlamydia. Please can somebody put my mind at ease and explain if I can or cant get pregnant and if I can, how long will it take on average?

Just recently, me & my boyfriend were diagnosed with Chlamydia. I got treated one week before him...on a Tuesday & was told to wait 2 weeks before having sex again. I did. He got treated a week or so after me but we ended up having sex (with a condom) during the 2 week period he was taking his medication. Is it possible that he could still have the disease? Im afraid now because since then, we've had sex again (with a condom) but we also gave each other oral sex.

I cured my BV by drinking LOADS of water. Maybe 4/5 litres a day.
I tried everything I could afford to try as a broke student. So from garlics to yoghurt to antibiotics to overpriced creams. I visited 4 doctors and none of them helped me much. I burnt the inside of my vagina with all the nonsense I did. My vagina got so bad that I couldn't want for longer than 5 minutes because I would be in so much pain and desperately need to scratch. I used to spend all day in my room with my legs wide open because my genitals wore swollen and they hurt so much. I even remember crying and not being able to sleep. LOL! It was horrible!!
Anyway I started noticing the only time my vagina felt half decent was when I was weeing. So I started drinking more water so I could wee more and the more I weed the less I itched. I drunk 4/5 litres of water for 3 days and really tried to flush out my system and then it just stopped. No more itch. No more discharge, no more stink.
The sad news is I have it again. It's quite mild at the moment but I'm going to start drinking water like crazy again. Hopefully it works again.

I have suffered for years with bv and tried just about everything! Here's what worked for me, it kinda happened by accident but I've been bv free for almost two months, I have been sexually active and even after my period it has not returned. There is no douching of any kind in my cure. Hopefully this helps all or some of you as I take into account that every body can react differently. Best wishes and relief to you all!
Upon waking (before eating) have large glass of water with a good squeeze of fresh lemon. Take a femdophilus pill with water.
After breakfast take an Alive Once Daily women's ultra potency multivitamin.
Drink water with fresh lemon throughout the day at least 3 large glasses.
That's it! Also, Try not to eat tons of sweets or too much red meat.

About a year ago I asked my doctor to diagnose the episodes I had been having most of my life.
These episodes that made me feel detached, listless, dizzy and sometimes short of breath, would last for 10 or 20 minutes or sometimes two hours. The doctors, I had previously presented to, could find nothing wrong with the lungs or heart. I was once sent to specialist who thought it might be a type of migraine.
Anyhow my doctor thought it might be atria palpitations of the heart so I asked him if the next time I was in town, and had an episode, could I come in to see him. He arranged for an alert to be put on the receptionists' computers so I would get a ECG reading/printout immediately.
And so it happened, the resultant reading showed the heart beating 140 bpm ( should be 70 bpm for me)
“Ahh SVT!” the doctor cried, - Supra Ventricular Tachycardia, the electronic pulse finds a quicker way to go but in doing so causes the heart to beat faster.(Not as serious as Atria Tachycardia.)
“Don't drink any alcohol, coffee or tea.” said the doctor.
There are techniques on how to reset the heart back to normal.
I found the best way was to just lie down on the carpet for 10 minutes or so. It was a relief to actually know what the condition was at long last. I could live with it, or so I thought.
There were times when I couldn't reset it and it would last longer and made me feel completely debilitated.
Not wanting to go through the ablation surgery or have a pacemaker fitted, (not having any faith in these procedures), being a Christian I decided I should pray about it and leave it at that.
With a busy life and everything happening, now that the family had arrived from England and living with us, I had forgotten about that prayer time. Then one day, about three or so weeks later I said to my wife “ you know I haven't had an SVT episode in over three weeks?”
So in my next prayer session I thanked God in faith for the healing.
That was six months ago, and, praise God, I haven't had another episode. I drink the occasional glass of wine with my meal and drink coffee and tea every day.
I sometimes get the flutter in my 'solar plexus' area, that previously would indicate to me that an SVT episode was about to start, but now it just stops.
The only cures I have seen offered are ablation, dietry, drinking lots of water and taking a supplement of potassium. I didn't try any of these.
I haven't read of any 'spontaneous healing's for SVT, such as mine, have you?
So I do believe that God can heal you. It just takes honest fervent prayer.
