I start from the beginning of my back pain history,In 2009 after a training in a gym i started to feel a sharp pain in my back, following months they pain was growing that much that I could not work out anymore. After several months I had the pain in back but also numbness in my mine buttocks after some checks that the doctors made and pain killers which didn't help, finally they have sent me to CT, which showed that I had a slightly bulged disc l1-s5,the doctors though didn't pay much attention to that result, saying that almost 60 % percent of population would have the same result if they would have checked, after months of Physical Therapy my pain was relieved ,though I didn't go back to Gym.
A year and the half after that I was in pain again and then Sciatica sensation pain started to appear like the needles and pins in my buttock,I was feeling that my legs are weak, slightly tingling on my testicles. I've panicked and went immediately to at least 3 different orthopedics who didn't help much, and neurologist who sent me to MRI and EMG both of them showed that my spine contrary to CT is fine. So he prescribed me Pregabalin which is helped and reduced my pain I aslo started visiting Yoga instructor and half a year later a gym. A year later I've started to go to gym again trying to make mine core stronger which always been very very weak it helped I guess because they were no signs of which doctors call Sciatica. In 2013 I've got into squats and deadlifts and though the pain in back and very rarely sciatica sensations above were appearing i've continued to train, the problem was also what sometimes I was blaming my self for the pain. I had and still have since 2013 a very tight schedule (studying and working) so in average i have 4 hours to sleep. in 2014 there were some increasing in my pain again, I visited some other orthopedist who told me that I'm fine and I visited Neurologist again which has sent me to MRI and EMG again, and AGAIN they both were perfectly fine! So i've continued to train.
My last half a year was very stressful so I didn't work out in gym as much as in the past two years, but when I got back my back started to hurt again also I was feeling numbness in my toes sometimes and tingling in my groin and testicles.
Last month, there were 3 days with pain which started from my back and went through my legs which I have never felt before, It was very strong pain in hips and back. A week after that pain I've started to feel needles and pins sensation in my legs, tingling when I walk on the street with jeans in my right leg (only when I walk outside), some days after that i've started feeling tingling in the area of my testicles and groin which get worse when I sit and stand, never I have before such a strange and annoying feeling in that region.
Though the pain in my back almost disappeared the strange sensation in my testicles is only getting worse. For last three weeks Im feeling strange tingling in the right side of my stomach (or the feeling like something moving there inside). Also when i'm with woman I feel like I've start to ejaculate early . It's not a complete ejaculation though , only when I get arose a little bit sexually I feel like something coming out of my penis and when i was checking it,that It were a drops of sperm (although I don't have yet any other sexual problems or loss of feelings). Also they were couple of times when during the end of urinating, suddenly i was ejaculating (the sperm was coming out right after i've finished urinating), in addition I feel a weird "penis movements" sensations (sorry but that is the only way I can explain what I feel), In addition to all of that I feel sometimes weakness in my left leg or kind numbness for a couple of seconds (though i don't have any pain running or lifting my leg up or whatever).
In addition,to all of this i'm feeling like my right leg is getting heavy (or numb) and there is even one time when muscle twitches appeared in the left leg.
I really wanted to go to the Doctor, but the problem that until january im studying abroad and any visiting the doctor with that kind of problems would cost me a lot of many because my insurance doesn't cover pre condition situations and it seems like one.(though I didn't have any of these feelings before and MRI have NEVER DIAGNOSED ANYTHING) .
So I really puzzled and I don't know what to do,I have no idea why I have all these strange sensations (though almost not having any pain in a back, why MRI never showed anything and I didn't find anywhere on the web if there is any connection between strange partly ejucaltion and bulged or herinated disc).

I am 34 year old NZ mum and I had CES about 3 years ago, after 3 operations and lots of physio and exercise I returned back to work, bit by bit, slowly working my way up to full time over the period of 8 months. I actually feel pretty fortunate and feel that Iv made a pretty amazing recovery, I got the mobility of my right leg back (it was dragging) although this is still very numb and weak, it appears normal to those around me, and I no longer walk funny, and my bladder only seems to play badly up certain times of the month (by play up I mean weakness and high frequency) the pain is pretty good too....compared to what it use to be like. The night before my first urgent operation I had hot cold sensations filling my legs,it felt like they were being dipped in warm or cold water, it was one of the strangest things I have ever felt, I hadn't realised that going to the bathroom every few min was a warning sign (I actually thought I must of been pregnant). Anyway recently I'm getting cold patches (large patches) and weird almost pleasant cold tingling around the butt and the back of the legs and wondered if anyone else gets similar sensations?, I hate rushing back to the docs and don't want to live in fear that the CES will raise its ugly head again, I also want to avoid too many more MRIs as I have already been exposed to far to much radiation from these. Was really just hoping that another CES patient could tell me their ongoing symptoms and issues that they have just managed to live with.

3 weeks ago I had a muscle spasm in my lower back that shifted the muscles around quite alarmingly - thought my hip had popped out. I went to A&E and they told me I'd had the spasm as a result of my body protecting the horse tail nerves that are around my spine. The only pain I have at the moment runs from my glutes to my calf, in certain stretched positions. It's definitely improving but very slowly, and I know I need to be patient as it can take weeks.
The main issue I have is strength in my right leg. Since this happened I now can't raise myself using my right foot - going to tiptoe. Left leg, fine. Right leg, it's like there's no signal, no strength. And it's freaking me out. Before all this, I was running, going to the gym, cycling - 4-5 days a week.
My question is this - is there anything I can do? Do I need to stretch it (kind of feels taught all the time anyway)? Perhaps I need to massage the areas?

I'm 28 years old and am about 4 months out of surgery for my herniated disc now and have had no issues since, recently ran out of the Pain meds they had me on (Norco 10-325). I was off work for 2 months and have been working at my automobile factory for 2 months without any issues. The past two days I have had severe restless legs, while getting up and walking around helps, it gets bad even while at work. I haven't been able to sleep and just feel plain discomfort. Like my back needs to be 'cracked' and severe pain also. I guess my question is, is this more than likely caused from my lack of pain meds or could it have been there since surgery and I haven't noticed because of the meds? Doctor cut me off them and said I need to find a new job, but I think it can be fixed or handled so I can at least be comfortable. Also on the mri that showed the herniation there was a bulging disc. Could that have herniated as well? I am also on celexa lisinopril and adderall ( which I haven't taken since getting on the narcotics except for the lisinopril ) any advice is helpful to find out more. Have an appointment with a new doctor on the 14th would like to know what to say. I know people abuse narcotics and I don't want my doctor to get the wrong impression.

Hi all just thought I would try and get us all together; to see who we are how we got here, how many there are of us; our ages , jobs lifestyle etc to try and find any plausible link to what we are going through..
I have just turned 48, i live in Norfolk, UK.
I think I am starting to go through the change in life with the dreaded hot flushes and lack of menstrual cycle. I have had frozen shoulder since Oct 15, although I believe my first diagnosis was rotator cuff injury ? I had not had any injury to my shoulder, just a bucket load of stress prior to the onset ??
I would consider myself healthy, with a good diet, I drink occasionally and do not smoke. I am a senior support worker, I do use a computer daily...., and I probably did not exercise as much as I should have.
There is history of FS in my family and arthritis?
This forum has kept me sane (thank you all).. I believe I am now FROZEN, movement is restricted and the pain;although still there is more bearable. I still need the comfort of my heat mat and I have found a TENS machine works well , I have also started Trigger Point Therapy which is helping: I am also sleeping a little better although 8 hours sleep is a very distant memory ! Anyway I'm rambling now my idea for this discussion was bullet points to try and find a connection ; so I've blown that already anyway if you want to respond.

I have been driving now for 1 year and 2 months and find myself constantly stressed and sick. Its getting to the point I am sat in work and feel like I need to be out in the car. The thing that makes me so stressed is my own driving, I can be fine and then come up to a roundabout for example, get ready to move off again and if my car jolts even a little bit (bringing the clutch up to fast etc) I will be stressed for the rest of the day. It sounds ridiculous I know but it frustrates me so much. I now find myself analysing everything I do when I am in the car which I think is making me worse as I am even more concentrated on it now when driving should be something you just automatically do. I am stuck in a viscous circle and my over thinking is getting to the point that I feel physically sick with constant headaches and worry. I've looked up how to stop over thinking but nothing seems to work.

I was prescribed propranolol yesterday after passing out at the wheel of my car at the weekend ( I managed to stop it in time). This has triggered panic attacks every time I get in a car whether driving or not. I have the pills in front of me, unopened, but am scared to take them due to the side affects. A colleague had these once and suffered night terrors.
I just don't know what to do and am having a bad day with the anxiety so if its worth the risk Id like to take one now.

I have panic attacks while driving in the hills, over bridges or those big flying overpasses on the highways. I also have problems when stopped at a red light if on an elevation. I usually don't have problems crossing bridges if they are flat, straight across and not too long. I can usually go over an overpass on the interstate or a side road over the interstate if it is just a small elevation, but sometimes I do have panic attacks on these. If the overpass curves or goes up and curves - then I get panic attacks. Bridges that start with an elevation really get me and I just have to pull over. I did not start having these panic attacks until I developed a detached retina. I have had surgery twice and still the retina keeps coming loose and detaching and wont stay. It is genetic according to 3 specialist so the light reflects differently in my right eye and makes me dizzy sometimes. I do better on cloudy days or wearing wrap around sunglasses. I also have a lot of fluid in my ears too. I have to stay on a Decongestant to keep the fluid dried up in my ears. I was going around Little Rock Arkansas on the by pass -Hwy 30 and was fine on the bridge but there was a curvy overpass and the traffic was so bad I got stopped in the middle of the overpass. I actually had to open the door and put my foot on the pavement to stop the dizziness and the ticks from the panic attack. I am usually OK driving in the hills except when there it a guard rail and a drop off to my left or right or a bridge at the top of a hill - then I freak out. Going to Branson MO from Springfield on HWY 65 there are three HUGE hills with drop offs and deep gullies and I really get freaked out then. I also get freaked out if I am going down a steep incline with lots of curves. Example being the highway from Nashville to Chattanooga.
When I have the attacks, I notice that my heart races, my mouth gets really dry and throat swells and my vision blurs so I can not see very well. I get very light headed and dizzy and feel as if I am going to pass out.
I have noticed that my attacks are less when I don't drink things with caffeine and cut back on my salt.
I have tried the belly breathing - slowly and It does not really help. If I am talking to my wife or doing something to distract me - I can usually get over the bridge. I just floor it and hope nothing is in my way and pull the visor down and concentrate on the lines of the road. If the sun is really bright it also bring on attacks too or if I am really tired and not rested well.
Anyone have any suggestions for me. I take Ativan and it helps a lot.
The last panic attack I had my wife take my BP with the wrist cuff and it was super high.
This is what I go through when I travel. Not a pleasant experience. I used to love to drive and never had any problems driving until my retina detached. Could that have something to do with the panic attacks.

So..my daughter wanted to go shopping. I felt a little blah, tightness in chest before we left. A light was changing from yellow to red, and i made a very fast right hand turn so i wouldn't be stuck at a dreaded red light. After the turn I felt a burning in my stomach that quickly spread throughout my whole body. I glanced in the mirror and was bright red..had to pull over. Heart started slamming and so fast...legs shaking. Opened the door, and got out to get air..telling myself im ok, im ok as my daughter sat there ( really sad) 20 mins later and heart slowed enough to drive and here i am. Daughter very angry and confused. Cold feeling in my arms, headache and a slight burning in chest and exhausted. Feeling guilty. Although i feel i managed ok...and made it through...ehh...feel bad. Does this even sound like a panic attack?

I have had this condition for 4 weeks and am becoming depressed.
It started on the second day of my Cruise holiday. But on reflection I now realize that there were some signs leading up to it. Firstly I had several headaches which is unusual for me.. I also had an ache in my jaw which I thought was Neuralgia. I asked my sister to check my ear for a spot as my ear was getting painful. I had a watery eye and one nostril was runny. I passed a weird motion on the flight out which was the color of a new born babies first pooh.! Several day after diagnosis I passed several little lots of blood from my back passage preceded by back pain.
I recently started using an electric toothbrush and caused a small abrasion on my lower gum whilst brushing between my teeth. I can't help thinking that there is some connection as the symptoms started soon after.
I have had the usual steroids and also been treated for an ulceration on the cornea caused by rubbing of the eye before the paralysis came on.the ships doctor did everything expected of her. Once home I saw my own doctor who says to keep using the eye drops and an ointment at night with tape to keep the eye closed. The tape comes off all the time so given up on that as just wakes me up at night.
After 4 weeks and very little improvement I am getting scared that it may be permanent and find it difficult to face people and frustrated at not being able drive due to blurred and reduced vision.

I had a microdiscectomy back in December 21, 2015 right before my 18th birthday ( today marks the 4 month post surgery mark ). I still have pain running down my right leg ( upper glut and sometimes in my calf muscle ). Before the surgery I have had the disc pinching on my nerve for nearly 10 months.... It ruined my summer and I couldn't do what most of my friends were doing... My parents were too scared that something would go wrong with the surgery, so we tried Physical Therapy for about 2-3 months. My pain was getting worse and worse. After a lot of convincing I got my parents to allow me to get the surgery ( No regrets at all ). I would rate my pain before my surgery as 9/10 and now after my surgery I rate it as 5-7/10. I can't even remember how it feels to have no pain... It is constant and doesn't go away ( I feel better when I lie down on my back or stomach ).. I feel better when I sleep on the ground rather than on my, what used to be comfortable, bed.... I am starting to lose hope on ever feeling better... Everytime I walk I have pain in my upper right glut ( every time I extend my right foot ) and sometimes it goes down my right leg to my calf.... I still can't bend down without a massive amount of pain running down my right leg... I can't even sit down for longer than 30 minutes because I start to have a lot of pain in my calf, which makes going to school really hard.. Are there any patients that have had this type of surgery and felt better in more than 6 months?

I had L4/L5 microdiscectomy and laminectomy about 4 months ago. I had on and off low back pain for 6-7 years but it became unbearable couple of years back. Prior to surgery I had buttock pain and I couldn't walk or stand without pain. I am recovering pretty slowly. I am off pain meds and I walk 45 mins a day and do gentle back stretches as advised by the surgeon. The surgeon said that I had a big herniation and he removed about 60-70% of the disc. Is it common to have that much removed?. Will I be able to recover fully or will i need more surgery like fusion in the future. I am just 27 yrs old and I don't want to live in pain.

I am a RN and I have had years of low back pain with a history of herniated
discs from L3-S1. These symptoms would aggravate me from time to time but, being a nurse, with a
familial history of arthritis I thought it was just par for the course. Until three months ago when i
developed sciatica pain down my left leg and it was present every day, and it ruined my summer.
I couldn't walk without pain, bend without pain and basically was bedridden and depressed all
summer. I am healthy, took NO meds up to this point and I was always a pretty active person. I finally
decided to have the surgery. On Monday 09/30/13 I had a microdiscectomy and was pleasantly
surprised with how easy it was to go home the next day. My pain was minimal, honestly, I do not
think I even needed the Oxycodone, it wasn't that bad. However, I did need the Valium, I noticed
the incision was sore in the am and was happy to have the Valium. By day 3 post op, I was off all
of the narcotic meds and only taking ibuprofen and tylenol (valium at night). Day 5, I was walking, no numbness, no tingling, doing fine... Until I coughed. I literally re herniated from a cough and ended
up back in the hospital undergoing a second round of emergency surgery to remove the extruded
disc. I now have numbness in my left foot and toes that I am so sad about. I have read and read on
line and all that I have heard is that it very rarely goes away, yet the surgeon says it will? Who do I
believe? And how long does it take? I just want my life back (much like everyone here) so, any
information you can provide me with would be very much appreciated. I'm still not having any pain to speak of so, for those of you worried about post op pain, it's really really not bad at all!
