I have a feeling of a lump in my esophagus every time I swallow. I have note noticed any swelling, no fever, just discomfort, and I am coughing more than usual. I am really concerned about cancer.

View 2 RepliesAbout 2 years ago I noticed a knot pop up under my right jaw bone. I thought it was a swollen lymph node, and it only really hurt when I swallowed and would start swelling back up every couple months on and off. Recently the knot had been swollen up more, I can always feel it, but it will swell up bigger when I am eating at times. Along with that for the past couple months you can see a sort of swelling or lumps and redness in the back of my throat ( I don't have tonsils) but that is also on the right side. This hasn't gone away at all, even when my throat isn't hurting. I also have swollen glands under my tongue that sometimes swell more and hurt when I eat. My family doctor has put me on two antibiotics, and I did test and was treated for type C strep, but no swelling went away after that.

Three months after mine was done for a second time I still experience some discomfort and swelling bordering on pain, wondering if this is normal after this amount of time.
View 21 RepliesJust out of hospital after having experienced a dreadful reaction to Sulfasalazine. Had been taking it in total for just 6 weeks, experienced the nausea, bloating & generally feeling rough. Then wow, did I have a rash head to foot, fever and swelling. My whole body swelled up & I had to be admitted to hospital in a bit of a hurry as my tongue/airway was swelling to. ? over damage to liver. Have had blood taken every day, liver scan & am now on steroids to combat all the nasty effects.
View 1 RepliesI have been suffering with this for two weeks and I have no idea which symptoms may be connected to my newly acquired TMJ or my flare up of GERD.
Two weeks ago after a heavy meal and a few days after damaging my jaw I woke up in the night with a weird throat spasm and feeling like I had something stuck in my throat. Then over the weeks I started to get the lump feeling through the day with difficulty swallowing. I lost half a stone due to being unable to eat.
Now I have developed a tight chest, dry throat and lungs, feeling like my lungs are blocked, constant throat clearing with little mucous production, breathing difficulty and I'm still having these nightly throat spasms and lump feeling. I had some of my sons ventolin inhaler as I had asthma as a child and thought the reflux could be causing this but it did nothing.
I have been to A and E lots of times with it and also to my GP who has referred me for an endoscopy but its only in february.
I am going out of my mind. The breathing issue happened after a load of acid came up my throat a few nights ago and it felt like my throat and lungs were dried out by it.
I am asian male, 28years old. Today is March 13th.
About a month ago(early Feb), I started to have a lump feeling/sensation in my throat and a couple of days later , on one day, it became so severe that I had difficulty swallowing, even saliva. However, a couple days later it became better and almost unnoticeable. I thought it was due to anxiety, cause i searched "lump sensation in throat" and I got "Globus Sensation".
However, about 10 days ago. The same lump in throat feeling came back. This time it was milder, no pain, not itchy, but just feeling something stuck in my throat and its moves from day to day. One day it could slightly to the left, next day could be slightly on the right. I took pictures and saw one or two 3-5mm diameter lump/pus grow on the back of my throat. I immediately went to my primary doctor, who did not take it seriously and said it might be allergy and only saw some redness in my throat and it would clear up on its own. After It persisted for over a week, I went to ENT who did a throat culture. Today I got a call from ENT doctor saying that I have strep throat.(not sure which type). And I started taking Amox just now.
I am worried about it has anything to do with STD because I had a stupid exposure with a SW about 2 months ago(Jan. 7th, unprotected oral and protected vaginal, but I didn't give her oral, I only received for 1min or 2, but my lips did touch her lips slightly twice, but definitely no saliva exchange.) I did
1. urine tests for chlamydia and gono 7 days after the event. (both negative)
2. syphilis rpr tests, one at 4th week, another one at 8th week after the event.(both not reactive)
3. HIV pcr RNA test at 25 days after the event (not detected)
4. did not have any skin condition, such as rash, ulcer, sore, blisters, or canker in the genital area, and checked and confirmed by a dermatologist recently.
So, my questions
1. The only symptom I have is "lump feeling/sensation in throat, not painful but annoying" and recently some dry cough at night and dry throat. Other than that, no pain, no fever, no headache. I wonder besides strep throat, could there be anything else, too? mono, oropharyngeal cancer by HPV? I guess because I did not give her oral, it shouldn't be oral gono, right? I remember having cold sore when I was a child (6years old). Could the lump in the back of throat be any kind of herpes? possibly herpes type1.
2. If the first outbreak 1month ago was also strep throat and I just started the treatment. Could I possibly get post strep disorders or complications, such as rheumatic fever, kidney inflammation etc. by now or later in the future. Do I need to get checked out.
3. Why symptoms of Strep is much milder than described on the internet? due to the fact I am adult?
I have seasonal allergies, although, this may not be that case, because this year I have not had allergies.
I have had a BAD sore throat, and it really tends to hurt when I swallow. I've taken cough drops, honey, salt water rinses, tylenol and ibuprofen, and even gargled my prescription Lidocaine for numbing, and none of its working. I can't post a picture because I don't know how right now, but my throat is red, but no pus spots, no swollen tonsils, or anything else seems wrong. My sore throat has been accompanied by a fever that comes and goes, and a headache that lasts and day and goes, then comes back, and goes again. Is there anything I can take for what is going on, and can you tell me what I might have?
Male, 37, I have a frequent sore throat. Sore throat with feverish feeling / fever and chills, excess mucus and blocked nose. In addition gas, acidity with fatigue and weakness. This is going on for the last 14/15 years. It is decreasing the quality of my life.
In my childhood I have suffered with frequent tonsil infection or tonsillitis.
Is there any permanent cure ?
Is there any test to detect properly that which bacteria or virus is the culprit ?
So it started last weekend. Saturday - I was TIRED.. so very tired, but my mates kept insisting I come out so I did... drank lots, kind of overcame the tiredness. Next day Sunday - , I noticed one spot on my waist. Thought nothing of it until that night I was running a temperature (38.5)...
Monday morning, woke up with about 10 spots in total, on the neck, chest, arms. Suspecting chicken pox I took myself to the GP who said it was likely chickenpox, but hard to tell so soon... well 5 days later, I know for sure its the pox!
I've had a sore throat since Wednesday, and while I did not experience fever on Tues or Wed, ran a temperature again on Thurs night and this morning at 38.8. I've headaches, sore gums, diarrhea, blocked ears and insomnia... it is absolutely VILE.
Given the repeated fevers, I got a doctor to call in today. He checked my ears and said he suspected some kind of secondary infection and gave me antibiotics. He said not to worry too much about the fever, as it is to be expected after all.
I am writing to see if anyone has any ideas for my father in law in Japan. He is in the hospital and the oncologists, and disease specialists cannot diagnose his condition. He has had a fever for over a month, diminishing strength, trouble breathing, and inflamed lymph nodes and spleen. It is my understanding that he has a low white blood cell count as well.
View 1 RepliesBack in January 2012 I contracted Glandular Fever and was sick for a couple of weeks. Ever since then I have had a sore throat on and off and nothing it doesn't seem to be getting any better. I get frequent mouth ulcers, the back off my throat is almost always red and patchy with ulcers and sometimes I even get the on my uvula.
I have seen my GP about this a year or so ago and was referred to a throat specialist who pretty much told me to wait it out, but it is very frustrating considering it's been over three years. I have also noticed that alcohol seems to make the problem worse, but being at uni I didn't have much chance to avoid it. My general health is relatively good, if I pick up an infection intend to fight it off quickly and don't get that sick. It's just this which is more frustrating than anything. The only other thing I would say is that I do have mild hay fever and always seem to wake up with phlegm in my throat so I'm not sure if this attributes to it.
I feel really down. Terrible sore throat & low grade fever. I am trying hot honey and I tried gargling salt water but it made me sick.

Until this encounter I have only been with my wife (high school sweethearts). The woman in question is from northern Minnesota, white, in her 40s. I'm also in my 40s, white, also from rural Minnesota. For the past three weeks I've had sore throat, slightly swollen lymph nodes on my neck. No fever, no rash. Checked for strep, came back negative. I've confessed to my wife who appears willing to stay with me. I'm scheduled for HIV testing next week (4th generation). I have an appointment with ENT, but not for another month. In the meantime my anxiety level is quite high....I don't necessarily feel fatigued, or flu like. But the last couple of days my appetite has disappeared, which may be due to the anxiety. I am worried because the sore throat and slightly swollen lymph nodes have lasted this long without knowing the cause....Can't be cold, shouldn't last this long. Allergies? I take Zyrtec every day and seem pretty clear. Not much sinus congestion at all. Tonsillitis? One does appear a bit enlarged. All of a sudden? Seems coincidental. Near panic as I wait for my test....any possible reassurance to help get me through this weekend? Mono perhaps?

Is there anything unusual about me?
View 3 RepliesMy tonsils have been swollen for over a month, until last week they were painless, but now I have flu symptoms. Its quite scary, it affects my swallowing and I have a very very dry mouth, even when I drink loads of water all day. Hasn't affected my breathing as of yet, but feels like a lump in my throat is blocking it off.
This has been going for three days now.
Doctor said I need a blood test for glandular fever, which is next week.
I mentioned that I think I can feel my epiglottis swollen, and she laughed and said that is all the way down by my adam's apple and would have a job feeling that... even though i've seen many cases online where it's visible above the tongue and often can be felt.
Exactly one week and 1 day ago I received unprotected oral sex from a sex worker in South Africa (known for HIV). It lasted for about 30 minutes. I know I made a major mistake. Statistically she had HIV as 70% of sex workers are positive. She had false teeth in her mouth and removed it for the purposes of the ******* which means she definitely had blood in her mouth and there was deep throating involved. I am more than certain I got the virus and don't know how to deal with it. I know many people experience phantom pains but I definitely have tender lymph nodes in my face and neck, fever, sore throat, all the typical signs I contracted the virus. I took a test 2 days after and of course it was negative due to the window period and no prior sexual experience (NONE). I am considering taking my own life due to this issue. I come from a VERY conservative family and they would never be able to deal with this. What should I do?

View 2 RepliesI have had a lump on my tibia for about 3 months now. I first noticed it as my leg was sore at night when I rolled over one night. I started to stretch it at night before I went to sleep and after 4 days it went, but the lump didn't but I pushed it aside. Until 2 weeks ago when I had to go to the doctor about my back I decided to bring up the lump cause it was still there. No pain at all this whole time didn't relies me leg was swollen. She felt it and said its firm so she sent me for an ultrasound. While I was getting it done the lady felt the lump on my leg but couldn't see anything on the screen. she went and got one of the doctors there and he said the same thing they could see my leg was swollen, and they could feel the lump but couldn't see anything. He said to me to keep an eye on it and if it gets bigger have an mri done on it. I went back to my doctor, she sent me for a x-ray. X-ray come back they said there was no abnormalities, but they requested for me to have a mri done. There are two white/grey spots on my xray not on the bone tho not on the tissues but if this make sense there near the edge of the shadow of my scan. I cant remember exactly what my doc said. I cant afford to get a mri I will eventually get it down its just the last 2 nights and today I've had pain and a bit on pin and needles on my foot and leg. Same leg where the lump is. It started 2 nights ago I got out of the shower and my leg felt weird, it felt tight when I walked on it and I bit tingly and I kept getting a hot flush on it.The next day it was fine till that night again got out of the shower and I had pain and sharp jabs from my thigh to my foot and I dull ache in my leg. and I was fine and all of a sudden I felt really sick so I sat down and watched tv for a bit and it went. Today my knee has been sore half the day bending down and walking its fine now tho.. My leg dose feel heavier than the other when I stretch or lift my leg up. Could all they pain and problems have something to do with the lump? My gut is telling me something is wrong, My mum has cancer and it terminal not in the leg or bone anything hers is the liver,bowel and shes had it in the cervix
View 2 RepliesAlthough my throat spasms have now stopped I have started to have problems with my larynx.
Mucous seems to be trapped underneath it and collects at night. I wake up with a swollen larynx but no pain. Now my lymph nodes in my neck and the back of my head have swelled.
I also wake up every morning feeling unrefreshed, groggy and depressed.
I am still unable to swallow food.
Surely this can't be GERD?
I am 26 years old. Some months ago a soft long lump is formed in the palm of my hands, both left and right hand. It's bigger on my right hand and it's about 1 inch long. It doesn't hurt except for some slight cramps that happens very rarely, sometimes I even feel some slight cramp or tension that goes to my forearm (don't know if that's related). I had made X-ray tests and it all seems normal. Is this a tumor or anything I should be too worried about?
