My grandmother just had a big surgery through which she had removed her ovaries, uterus and part of her gross intestine. Part of her surgery was colostomy.
I know that she now needs a low-fiber diet but I am not sure what can she eat and what not!
What are the worst regular foods for the right now?
What are the good foods?
What kind of tea should she drink?

I'm curious about others who have had this experience after the procedure. Mine seems to be getting worse everyday. I'm on day 9 post surgery. I've had a very difficult time going to the restroom when on the toilet, generally I just sit there for a couple of minutes hoping for something (I'm afraid to strain so I don't push at all). It seems to only happen when I'm not on the toilet, and it has been happening almost every hour at this point.
And I'm barely eating, I've lost 20 pounds over these 9 days (I'm a big man, but not obese). What I have eaten has been strictly fiber rich foods. And I'm also taking fiber, along with lortabs for the pain and milk of magnesia at night to counteract the pain killers.
There is no warning though, I simply lose control of my bowels and can't stop it until it wants to stop. If anyone else has experienced this please reply to this. I'd like to know when it stopped. I desperately want to get out of my house but cannot until this ends.

I had Altemeier Perianal rectal prolapse surgery 7 weeks ago. ~ 10 cm of my rectum was removed. I am 62 years old. Healing is fine. However, I am left with fecal incontinence. If I take lomotil, I don't have diarrhea but still have incontinence. My surgeon is MIA. I have collagenous colitis and had diarrhea, continence, etc problems before. However, the bowel control is much worse now. How long does it take for normal bowel function? I am very upset. It is almost impossible to leave my house. I have tried dietary, medication, exercise, etc. Nothing works.

I noticed the following changes in my body when I experiencing some stress:
1. Frequent urge to urinate.
2. Restless legs (and other parts of body).
3. Heightened irritability (Anger/Mood swing).
4. Irritable bowel.
5. Metallic taste in my mouth and weak gums.
6. Metallic smell coming from my fingers.
7. Frequent feeling of thirst.
All of these seven symptoms occur simultaneously when I am late awake in the night or during stressful situations, and they are affecting my ability to function.
On a related note, I also experience sleep paralysis and hyperhidrosis but it is not simultaneous with the above symptoms.
I have noticed that these symptoms manifest themselves together. The restless legs problem occurs when there is urge to urinate (which is frequent) and I experience some relief after I urinate.
There is some bowel irritability and gastric problems which worsens during the night.
I have noticed that even at times when I do get my 8 hours of sleep in the day, I experience rage issues late in the night (at around 4-5 am) which recedes quickly in an hour or two.
I experience metallic taste in my mouth and a metallic smell in my fingers often. Other symptoms, such as gastric problems, urinary incontinence, and restless legs are almost always present when I am experiencing the metallic taste and smell.
The symptoms are relieved when I urinate (which I have to do quite often), brush my teeth, or sleep. They return quickly though when I am experiencing some level of stress.
The problems have been slowly worsening over the years and are interfering my ability to function normally.

I have had IBS for 20 years, and have been treating it with fiber therapy pretty successfully. In the last few months, i've had some odd bowel movements. the first one i noticed was long and thin and tough, like an elastic. i thought tapeworm, but my stool tested negative for worms. i can't explain it, but after wiping and checking it flings itself off the toilet paper a fair distance. I'm afraid to ask my doctor because he scoffed at me when i told him that i thought i had worms. i had a colonoscopy for my 50th birthday in august and everything checked out. Any idea as to what's happening?

I have been having bowel problems for almost maybe 9 years, it does my head in and right now, it seems that my faeces are leaking around the impacted faeces into my underwear and I can't control it, I have been constipated for at least 5 days now and it makes me feel like crap. I have been to the doctors and they all prescribed different medications, they worked for a while, but it hasn't helped and now ...

I sit and try to have BM and while doing so, my legs go numb from sitting too long. The little I do have them is small and ribbon like. 2 or 3 droppings each time. Stomach hurts all the time. Gassy all day and night. My stomach makes the worst sounds.Thought maybe colon is packed tightly or something. I eat a lot more than I use the bathroom. Maybe do a parasite and colon cleanser?

For the past 10 years I have had severe digestive issues. If I eat more than twice a day I will spend the majority of my day in the bathroom so I avoid eating especially during work hours. I also have a hard time drinking a lot of fluids and if I drink too much I end up vomiting? I have heartburn almost daily and ironically water seems to make it burn more than most beverages so I really don't drink near as much as I know I should. I have had several upper and lower scopes, colonoscopies, breath test and worked with nutritionist and they all are baffled and tell me nothing is medically wrong with me? I recently feel like im constantly on the verge of getting charlie horses in my legs, have random blurriness in my eyes and I'm just tired. I am broke out of my mind and quite frankly feel hopeless because even if they did find something I can't afford to treat it? I'm frustrated, scared and exhausted. I have no idea what is left that I can do?

For some reason whenever I feel an intense build up/explosion of gas inside me coming up my throat/diaphragm or when I have a sudden huge burp (of course, I can't control or expect it when its so sudden), there is a sharp short pain in my right side of the head a bit above the ears and closer to the temple. Similarly this happens when I yawn very strongly as well.
I read that this could be due to tight neck muscles, and to give some context, I did strain/pull my neck when I was during a session in lifting weights a few weeks ago (around 7-9th of July 2015), but I don't recall this feeling during the time I felt strained.
Perhaps my neck is still in the process of recovering, and hence this tightness is causing me the problem? Although, I do not feel neck pain from the pulled/strained neck any-more (the soreness/pain only did last me few days before I felt fine again), the neck could still be in fact recovering?

This has happened to me once yesterday evening and twice this morning. Should I be alarmed?
The stools are usually of diarrhea consistency yet kind of tar like + they are nearly solid black.

I am a generally healthy, 22 year old male. However, I have a persistent problem with my digestion, particularly my stomach.
The issue began when I was 16. I would often have to do a poo multiple times a day, and I had some cramps. My stool was often undigested food. My doctor diagnosed IBS.
This continued off and on until I was 20, when I went to India and got two intestinal infections: one was a bacterial infection, which cleared up after a week of antibiotics (although I continued to have bloody diarrhea), the other was a parasite, which also went away after a week of an amebicide. However I continued to have issues with my bowels, with a black stool.
This has continued up till now. I find I often have pain in what I assume is the stomach area (the area of my top two abdominal muscles). I have frequent bloating, I burp a lot, and discomfort after I eat. I have a lot of trouble digesting vegetables, and if I eat them raw I can see them in my poo undigested.

I've had this problem for over three years now. At any time of the day I feel as if air is escaping my butt and sometimes my vagina as well. I never noticed it myself until I realized others reactions, it also makes a sound all the time almost like a humming. I don't know what to do I don't go out of my house because of this people always start laughing at me and saying things but i don't know what causes this. Last year it did stop for a few months but just recently started up again and i can't seem to figure out why this happens.

My 27 year old son began exhibiting symptoms of inflammatory bowel disease about 2 months ago. He had severe stomach pain and his food wouldn't digest for several days. A CAT scan showed an inflamed ileum. He went to a gastroenterologist who ran more tests and put him on prednisone. The inflammation went away and at the last followup visit the gastro dr. decided not to label my son with IBD yet unless the symptoms come back. My son noticed that, since his problem began 2 months ago, he no longer sweats. Early on, he would get dizzy and light headed at work (it was September and still warm)but he wasn't and still isn't sweating at all. He goes to the gym for a workout and 1/2 hour later his face is bright red and his head feels hot and prickly, but not one little drop of dampness happens anywhere on his body. Since both the inflammatory bowel/digestive problem and the anhidrosis started at the same time, I wonder if they are related, and if so, what disease does he have? He is beyond frustrated at this point because his digestive problems aren't gone completely, and he has days where he's exhausted waking up after a good night's sleep, and has minimal energy a lot of the time.
