I was taking Levora birth control and increasingly had mood swings, depression, etc. the longer I took it. After four months I decided I am just not the same person on it and my symptoms are very evident to those around me (not to mention the increased acne and water weight!) My doctor suggested the NuvaRing as it is a different way that hormones are released into your body. Has anyone struggled with emotional and mental symptoms on the pill and switched to NuvaRing and had success?

Almost two years ago, I started taking the pill (Junel FE1/120, or something like that). At first it was everything I wanted.
Every month on the first day of my period, I would get really sick. I would get nauseous and dizzy and everything hurt so badly that I couldn't get out of bed most months. Junel fixed that. Those problems went away immediately.
Then came new problems. Junel made me crazy. My blood pressure and heart rate were always really high and I would have panic attacks at little to no provocation. I couldn't function. I cried all the time, and I got really depressed. I started doing really poorly in school and couldn't handle daily life.
Last June, I switched over to Nuvaring. Craziness gone! But so is my libido. I never want to have sex anymore, and what's the fun of being on BC if you never are in the mood? All I've gained from Nuvaring is 30 lbs.
Does anyone know of any better options that won't make me crazy, but might not kill my sex drive?

I've been spotting while on NuvaRing which is odd for me because I've been using this for years with no problems. I went to the doctor in the middle of November to renew my prescription. They gave me a pregnancy test which came out negative. I had sex once in October and haven't since then.
In December my period came on a Wednesday and I forgot to get a new ring to put in to skip my period. I put in the ring the same day my period started, Wednesday, but I'm supposed to put in a new one Sundays. Anywho had a regular period but last week I had slight cramping for a day and some spotting. This week the same thing. The spotting is only lasting one day. What the heck is going on? Just old blood?

I have been on Nuvaring for two years now. I follow the directions and take it out when I need to. I removed it in May of 2014 and I have missed two periods since then. I have taken 4 pregnancy tests and all of them have been negative. I am not experiencing any pregnancy symptoms, nor have I had unprotected sex since the removal. Any advice as to what is going on? I've been trying to get an appointment set up with my doctor but they won't call back

I had hormones tested and I am in menopause. I have not had a period in 4 years. Only been off the pill for a month after being on it for a long time. I am told I should still use condoms for birth control, which myself and hubby don't like at all. Chances of getting pregnant may not be likely but can happen. I really prefer to use nothing, but I don't want to end up with a pregnancy at this age. Anyone in their 40's and 50's have gone through this? What was your choice of birth control when the doctor takes you off the pill? Should I not worry about it and use zero protection? Do you think my doctor is being ridiculous?

I have endometriosis and have been on continuous birth control for the past 2 years. In this time I haven't had any bleeding.
However, about a month ago I started spotting, then it turned to bleeding which has required the use of feminine hygiene products every day.
I want to take a break from my birth control and give my body a chance to refresh.. I just want to know - will I remain protected from pregnancy if I take a week off (as I have not at all)?

I consider myself to still be new to taking the pill as a form of birth control. Just when I think I have it figured out, something new would happen which would make me doubt it's effectiveness.
I am currently using Chateal, which contains 21 active pills and 7 placebo pills. After 6 months of taking it as directed, I assume my body should be used to the side effects. I would get nausea from taking it so I switched to taking it at night. I have been taking it that way for 3 months now.
But I have noticed since first started taking it, I would get severe cramps and backaches during the second week of the pack for a few days. I assumed I was ovulating while on the pill because I noticed my cervical mucus changes throughout the month. My understanding though is the pill is to prevent ovulation thus preventing pregnancy.
Can you ovulate while on the pill? Is my birth control pill type too low of a dose for me? Could it be something else?

I used to be on the pill a while ago and I recently decided to go back on it. I accidently took the sugar pill on my second day of having my period not realising I was meant to start taking the active pills. Can I continue taking the sugar pill or do I start the active pill?

I have been on the combined pill (Gederal) for a couple of years now but my doctor wants to change me to the Mini Pill (Cerelle). My Combined pill is perfect so i don't want to change. I mentioned that i had one migraine with visual disturbance and she explained to me that even one of these migraines is a reason to come off the combined pill. The combined Pill regulated my periods but she explained that this mini pill is now going to make me irregular.

I started taking Microgynon 30 about half way through my cycle (I think I had finished ovulating when I started, but I'm not completely sure). I was wondering if I would get my period as normal this month, or if the Microgynon would delay it until I finish the pack (like it would if I had started it at the start of my cycle)? If I do have my period as normal, will it be shorter/lighter this month?

I started my first pack of combined pills (Rigevidon) on Monday 14 July. I got a mild diarrhoea the next day. For a week, I have experienced decreased appetite, stomachaches, sharp stabbing pain in central abdomen and discomfort after eating. Is it common to have cramps when first starting oral contraceptives? I am worried that it can be a sign of pregnancy as I had protected sex (just condom)on 19 June. I took one urine pregnancy test last thursday and one today (4 weeks and 2 days since intercourse)Both are negative. Also, will i be less protected on the first pack of the pills? Will having digestive problems like the above make the pills less effective?

My nuvaring fell out and I am not sure how long it was out. I did not take precautions to prevent pregnancy and I am not sure whether or not to insert my new one. Today would be the normal insertion day, but I do not know if I am pregnant or not?

I tried out the nuvaring AMD I want to say I kept it in for about a week. I started the day after my period completely stopped. Before I had started this birth control I showed signs of a bacterial infection (washed my clothes in scented detergent by accident)... At this time I started my period which was at the end of the month. The last day of my period was on the first of last month which was march. I started my birth control I'll say on the 2nd, I kept it I'm for about a week or a week and a half if not 2 weeks. I decided to remove it because I was uncomfortable with the feeling.... After suddenly stopping, now today April 6th I have not seen my period. What are the possibilities of me being pregnant or could this been the after effects of the nuvaring for stopping suddenly..

I have absolutely horrific periods, my cramps are so bad I have to curl up in bed all day and take a muscle relaxant so I can make it through them. My doctor put me on Nuvaring and it's been giving me really intense headaches and nausea. I'm not a fan of being on medication of any sort but I can't live with my periods the way they are. I was wondering if putting Nuvaring in the week of my period (a few days before it starts) and keeping it in for a week (7-9 days) would prevent me from having a period. I realize this is not the intended use for it, but I would like to try it. Would this work to prevent me getting my period if I did it every month or would it start after I removed the ring after a week of use?

I have been on the NuvaRing for about a year now and it is awesome. Thing is, I had issues from wisdom teeth and was put on Amoxicillin halfway through my cycle. Hubby and I did not have sex after I was put on the antibiotics, but I was wondering if there is anything to worry about for the week before I started taking it? Any chance it will mess up my cycle? I should start my period in a day or two and I usually feel cramps starting by now. Did the amoxicillin delay my period?

So I just had a baby 7 weeks ago and I was given the Nuvaring for birth control. I cannot seem to get it in far enough. When I do get it back there it immediately twists and comes down back to the opening. Is this normal? I am following the diagrams of how to insert it. I feel like my body is pushing it out, if that makes sense. Should I just switch to an IUD? Just wanting to know if I can't get it in properly if it's worth using.

I would first like to point out i am not sexually nor do i plan to be!
I have recently started the NuvaRing, I put my first ring in 2 weeks ago. I honestly feel fine and don't seem to have any symptoms except some clear discharge, The only problem i seem to be experiencing is the ring slipping out or to the opening. I have read and watch tons of tutorials on how to insert the ring and im positive it's in properly i just can't seem to keep it in. I keep having to shove the ring back in whenever i urinate or sleep, I push the ring in as far as it will go and have checked with my finger that its around the cervix but its still only a half an inch to an inch away from the opening. Is this normal? What could be wrong?

I have been getting mixed answers on the internet about this. Yes, the website says as long as it has been no longer than 3 hours you are protected against pregnancy. But I have read 2 different situations that says about the 3 hours thing.
1. That it can be left out for 3 hours a day
2. It can be left out for 3 hours total for each ring.
I am just looking to clear this up. I don't want to be worried if I take it out for foreplay or intercourse.
