Do oral contraceptives cause irritability?

View 1 RepliesI started my first pack of combined pills (Rigevidon) on Monday 14 July. I got a mild diarrhoea the next day. For a week, I have experienced decreased appetite, stomachaches, sharp stabbing pain in central abdomen and discomfort after eating. Is it common to have cramps when first starting oral contraceptives? I am worried that it can be a sign of pregnancy as I had protected sex (just condom)on 19 June. I took one urine pregnancy test last thursday and one today (4 weeks and 2 days since intercourse)Both are negative. Also, will i be less protected on the first pack of the pills? Will having digestive problems like the above make the pills less effective?
View 1 RepliesThere any contraceptive which is suffice to take only once or twice to prevent pregnancy before sex? As we are planing to do unprotected sex once just to have an experience of it. Also tell me when and how many days before she should take it?
View 2 RepliesI don't know much about which brand of oral contraceptive I should use, partly due to nurses at planned parenthood not being very informative. Since there are many MANY different brands I figured I would just shout out my ultimate dream pill and see what suggestions you guys can give me. I want a pill that won't lower my libido and increases breast size. Some have taken me from a b to a d, some only half a cup. Would love that extra boob again lol thanks guys!**also I tend to get a little emotional so I'm not too sure where to go from here.
View 1 RepliesI just want to ask if the low dose oral contraceptive pill. Is it less effective because it is low dose? I am worried that it is less effective, I had sex with my bf 2 days ago he always pull out because I said so. Yes, i'm on a pill but still I don't want him to come inside. Is pulling out helpful?
View 1 RepliesI am 19 years old and have been with my boyfriend for nearly three years now. I am also dealing with some MASSIVE anxiety issues and really cannot have a child right now. Because I know this, my boyfriend and I are always extremely careful to use a condom in addition to me taking my birth control pill every day at a consistent time.
When I was 16 and became sexually active, I started Loestrin 24/Fe. This pill worked extremely well for me. However it has been discontinued and my doctor put me on Microgestin 1/20 Fe. I was on Microgestin 1/20 Fe for one cycle, and she then put me on Gildess 1/20 Fe. I have been told by my pharmacist and doctors that Loestrin 24/Fe, Microgestin 1/20 Fe, and Gildess 1/20 Fe all have the same ingredients and hormones. So I was not expecting any problems.
When I started Gildess 1/20 Fe, I randomly got my period very early on in the cycle when I was not supposed to. This obviously concerned me. I talked to my doctor and continued taking the pills and got my period again when I was supposed to. I also took two pregnancy tests just to be sure (they came back negative obviously).
So I started my next pack of Gildess 1/20 Fe. This is only my second pack of Gildess 1/20 Fe and I am about a week in. On the last week of my FIRST pack of Gildess 1/20 Fe (the placebo pill week), my boyfriend and I had intercourse (this occurred about a week ago). However we ALWAYS use a condom without fail as a backup method in addition to me taking my birth control pills and from what I can tell, we use to the condom correctly to our very best ability. He typically puts the condom on himself but I also try to make sure he puts it on correctly, and that it has not broken, etc.
However, two nights ago I noticed my breasts felt sore and now I am completely freaking out. I have experienced breast soreness before but this is really scaring me because of the problems I experienced with my period on my first month of Gildess and because this is a new pill to me in general. I know that breast tenderness is sometimes an early pregnancy symptom. I grew so comfortable with Loesterin 24/Fe and now I feel so scared all the time that I may be pregnant.
I take my birth control as consistently as possible. It's one of the very first things I do when I wake up in the morning. Sometimes I worry though because I wake up later on the weekends than I do on the weekdays and I know it's also very important to take your pill at the same time everyday :/
I am honestly so scared all the time that I may be pregnant because I really cannot handle that right now. So I am wondering, if I take my birth control pills as consistently as I can and use a condom every time I have sex, what are my chances of getting pregnant? From what I can tell and research I have done I am being almost as safe as I possibly can without abstaining from sex altogether. But still, I have this constant nagging fear, especially since I am experiencing the breast tenderness. But I have also read that breast soreness is a side effect of some birth control pills, especially when you start a new one. Should I be scared? I just don't know if I have reason to be scared, or if it's my anxiety kicking in, or if I should possibly talk to my doctor about being put on a different birth control pill, or what
I am just so worried that maybe something went wrong with both the pill and the condom. Like what if my pill wasn't effective because I do not take it at the EXACT same time every single day (although I take it as close to the same time as I can and I try really really hard, it's just that sometimes my schedule varies because I wake up at different times for class, appointments, etc) and something happened to the condom, like it got snagged or we didn't check it properly or what not. Ugh I don't know, I'm just really really scared and I do not like it
I started using Qlaira oral contraceptive 6weeks after I had my baby in February 2014, I am now starting my fourth month on Qlaira. Every month I started bleeding around day 14 or 15 it lasts a few days and then it stops, then i start bleeding again when I start drinking the dark red tablets and then it also lasts a few days. This month I bled on the first day of the pack and it stopped, I am now on day 4 and started bleeding again, is this normal?
View 1 RepliesI have taken an emergency contraceptive within 48 hours, I also take an oral contraceptive, how long until I should start the oral contraceptive again? And if I can start right away would it effect the bleeding which usually occurs as it is a sign (apparently) that it has worked?

View 1 RepliesI want to use lemon juice to lose weight,so I was wondering if that will interfere with the birth control pills that I'm currently taking?
View 1 RepliesI have been taking cyclafem birth control pills. Sunday I started new pack but its by a different name. The name is sprintec. How effective is it?
View 2 RepliesI consider myself to still be new to taking the pill as a form of birth control. Just when I think I have it figured out, something new would happen which would make me doubt it's effectiveness.
I am currently using Chateal, which contains 21 active pills and 7 placebo pills. After 6 months of taking it as directed, I assume my body should be used to the side effects. I would get nausea from taking it so I switched to taking it at night. I have been taking it that way for 3 months now.
But I have noticed since first started taking it, I would get severe cramps and backaches during the second week of the pack for a few days. I assumed I was ovulating while on the pill because I noticed my cervical mucus changes throughout the month. My understanding though is the pill is to prevent ovulation thus preventing pregnancy.
Can you ovulate while on the pill? Is my birth control pill type too low of a dose for me? Could it be something else?
I would like to share with you my own experience with cymbalta. I have been taking this medication for a year(60 mg) my doctor prescribed it for depression and anxiety. After 6 months of taking cymbalta i was feeling better, my anxiety decreased and i was able to live a normal life. Now after a year i decided to wean off cymbalta. I decreased my dose to 30 mg for 3 month. And for the fourth month am taking 30 mg pill a day after another. It's been a week i started feeling nervous, my anxiety increased and and am having extreme mood swings and an irritability that quickly turns into rage. Adding to the previous am having nausea and nightmares. I know these are duloxetine withdrawal symptoms that my GP did not explain it for me when prescribing me cymbalta. I will be strong and am not giving up. I wish i didn't take it.
View 6 RepliesDoes anybody have advice on what you believe is the best birth control?
View 7 RepliesI've had GA for 2 years now but was only diagnosed today, It appeared a short time after a skin reaction- Erythema Nodosum. This was brought on by Rigevidon, the contraceptive pill. Has anyone else experienced GA as a consequence of contraceptives?
View 4 RepliesSince I have PCOS, I am on contraceptives now. The tablets which I take had suited me well. Recently just while on the second day of contraceptives I had unprotected sex with my partner. After 2 weeks suddenly I have started feeling unwell. I am having nausea and then vomiting, stomach started feeling heavy, etc. It feels like all energy is being sucked out of my body. Can anyone help me why suddenly it is happening? I would also like to mention that within this 2 week time span I missed out my pill one day. Am I pregnant or is it a possibility that the medicine is doing something wrong
View 2 RepliesI know this is going to sound strange, but I seriously want to know if anyone here has the answer to this question. I am going to be 55 yrs old in March. I have been on birth control pills most my life, but I went to a new doctor (GYN) years ago, and she told me that I didn't need to be on them because there was no possible way I could become pregnant at 53 without medical intervention.
I left her office happy until my sister told me that the doctor is WRONG and that I could get pregnant at 55! I don't have any idea if I have been through menopause, but I've not had any signs if I have. I called the doctors office back and talked to my previous doctor who wouldn't "confirm" if I could or couldn't, but she suggested I take the mini-pill (progesterone only). I am really sick of the pill and wanted to just stop taking it, but don't want to be foolish. Does anyone here know if this is a fact or not that at 55 I wouldn't be able to become pregnant anyway if off of the pill?
After taking 4tabs after unprotected sex after 120 hours and 4 tabs again after 12 hours? What would be the next time to take the emergency pill? And what dose?
View 1 RepliesLast nt i had un protectedsex with my gf and she is before 3 days of her periods is it best to use unwanted 72 and she was 20 years old
View 1 RepliesI just got my period in Jan 9th and I ended it on Jan 19 which is when I got my implanon removed and was sexually active with no protection, I noticed I bled the following morning so would that be normal? Could my body be getting used to not having the implanon on. Should I be concerned?
View 1 RepliesI was supposed to start my new pack at 6 pm on Sunday. It is now 730 am on Tuesday.
How do I take my pills now? The instructions are unclear to me because I'm freaking out.
