Been on Microgestin now for almost 5 years. I have recently now just developed high blood pressure and am wanting to get off of the pill entirely. Just don't feel normal some days and think It could be the pill. Is it okay to just stop taking the b/c??
View 1 Repliesi've been on microgestin fe for four months now and i am on my third week of the pack. after sex, I noticed some light pink discharge. the next day, dark brown blood, and today i am noticing a tiny bit of bright red that contains some mucous. is this due to the hour difference that i am taking my pills since it is daylight savings time? or just a common side effect?
View 1 RepliesI was on diltiazem (cartia) for several years. It eventually raised my blood sugar level and I was diagnosed with diabetes 2. My blood pressure was not going down, so they took me off diltiazem 240mg, and put me on lisinopril 5mg.
The lisinopril gave me a dry cough, so I was put on losartan 25mg. I asked why not 5 mg and my NP told me because it doesn't come in 5mg....
My GP recently took me off of venlafaxine slow release from 150mg a day to 0 over the period of 2-3 weeks! This was done due to high blood pressure. I learnt a lot from people on here that it was done too fast, hence the severe withdrawal, so GP put me on mirtazapine 15mg! I've had a severe breakdown, depression back worse than ever, anxiety that I'd never had and self harm that I haven't done since a child, I'm now 48!
New Year's Eve, psychiatrist upped mirt to 30-45mg, yesterday psychiatrist put me back on venlafaxine 150mg and told me to also continue mirt!
On top of that, local GP has doubled my blood pressure tablets and introduced another medication to try and control the blood pressure!
First dose of venlafaxine 75mg last night had me throwing up and, sorry but watery stools!
So now I'm back to square one with 3 different lots of meds on top, shaking and dehydrated, just to name a few! I'm losing the will to fight anymore
I have just come out of hospital after being treated with IV antibiotics for a Quinsy. One of the antibiotics was making me feel sick so a nice administered cyclizine through the cannula to relieve the sickness. Within seconds, my toes went numb and my head swam and I couldn't see. This progressed to the feeling that my heart was going to burst as it was beating so fast and my head felt as if it was going to pop. Everything was swimming around and I couldn't feel my arms or legs and they wouldn't respond when I tried to move them. My mouth was numb and I was slurring my words. I was terrified! My blood pressure had rocketed and my heart was racing. The panic button was hit and I was quickly given cortisone and antihistamine which began to calm things down. It was a horrible experience. I honestly felt as if I was either going to have a heart attack or a stroke. I'm only 41 and have three small sons. My vision was affected for many hours afterwards, walls billowed and flat surfaces looked as if they were covered in netting. Very disturbing.
View 2 RepliesI have been taking Xanax for anxiety for about 6 yrs. I would like to get off of it. When I start to wean off of it, my blood pressure goes way up to like 178/90 and heart rate also increases. I have been on Toprol for years ..150mg in a.m. and 50 mg. in evening. Yet as I decrease the Xanax, the BP goes up and I need it to stay at a normal range of at least in the 130s or 140s, but it goes higher, I don't want a stroke.
I was wondering, since I had taken a low dose Inderal years ago for regulating my heart rate because of MVP(when Inderal was made by Wyeth), I was wondering if Inderal could be added to my taking the doses of Toprol I now take, while I decrease my Xanax more and more to be able to keep my BP stable and from going up higher while the Xanax is being depleted from my system? Xanax always kept my BP at a stable 120-140 range, while on the Toprol. But now that the Xanax is being depleted from my bloodstream, the Toprol no longer keeps the BP at a safe level. Would it be wise to ask the doctor if I could incorporate some Inderal into my medication to help Toprol keep the BP at a safe level while I am weaning off Xanax.
I'm 26 years of age, im 250 lbs and 6ft 1in tall. I know that sounds really fat and im no underwear model but i have a big frame and don't look fat as much as strong. I've recently gotten a few BP readings. the low was 152/85 the higher one i just tried at walmart to help with white coat syndrome, it was 165/88 but my resting heart rate is 59. I can't seem to get a BP reading without first being ****** off by kids playing on the BP machine at walmart while i stand there or waiting 2 hours in a doctor's office. My doctor just seemed to think nothing of my high numbers, "oh it's just white coat syndrome, plus the bottom numbers the real important one". Do i need to wait until im in my 40's to be taken seriously or should i just induce a minor heart attack now? lol
View 3 RepliesI had hormones tested and I am in menopause. I have not had a period in 4 years. Only been off the pill for a month after being on it for a long time. I am told I should still use condoms for birth control, which myself and hubby don't like at all. Chances of getting pregnant may not be likely but can happen. I really prefer to use nothing, but I don't want to end up with a pregnancy at this age. Anyone in their 40's and 50's have gone through this? What was your choice of birth control when the doctor takes you off the pill? Should I not worry about it and use zero protection? Do you think my doctor is being ridiculous?

However, about a month ago I started spotting, then it turned to bleeding which has required the use of feminine hygiene products every day.
I want to take a break from my birth control and give my body a chance to refresh.. I just want to know - will I remain protected from pregnancy if I take a week off (as I have not at all)?
Getting pregnant was never a problem for me. Simple, he'd look at me, and bam I have two children. That is until I had the Mirena (5yr) left it in for 7 yrs due to no insurance at that time. I am now 31 and had the mirena out for over a year with no luck getting pregnant. There are times I feel like I am pregnant I get sore breasts, cramping but then I start my period. This month however I am having the same symptoms and my period is late. I knew I was ovulating BC of the egg white like discharge(sorry if tmi)that was about 14 days ago I took a test this morning and result was negative. Maybe i don't understand how all this works completely lol idk but my periods are either at the end of the month or the first of the month. There's no way i could be having symptoms of pregnancy this early and its just my period warning sign. I'm starting to think that leaving the mirena in for 2 years over the time it was supposed to come out and not having periods in 7 years has done damage to my body.

I went to the doctor in the middle of November to renew my prescription. They gave me a pregnancy test which came out negative. I had sex once in October and haven't since then.
In December my period came on a Wednesday and I forgot to get a new ring to put in to skip my period. I put in the ring the same day my period started, Wednesday, but I'm supposed to put in a new one Sundays. Anywho had a regular period but last week I had slight cramping for a day and some spotting. This week the same thing. The spotting is only lasting one day. What the heck is going on? Just old blood?
I have been on Nuvaring for two years now. I follow the directions and take it out when I need to. I removed it in May of 2014 and I have missed two periods since then. I have taken 4 pregnancy tests and all of them have been negative. I am not experiencing any pregnancy symptoms, nor have I had unprotected sex since the removal. Any advice as to what is going on? I've been trying to get an appointment set up with my doctor but they won't call back

They put her on the pill, she will never remember to take it regularly with her busy schedule and isn't ready to start a family right now, she would like to finish college first! However we don't know what Birth control she should be on? I was never able to take Birth Control so I know nothing and am of no help, even googling it confuses me, nothing is clear?

View 1 RepliesMy girlfriend starting taking the pill one month ago. We had unprotected sex (condom broke) about 3 days before she went on the inactive pills. Now she is having her first period while on it but she is only having a small amount of brown blood (it is a constant flow). Is this normal because of the changes in hormones and it will become normal in a few days or is this implantation bleeding (a sign of pregnancy)? She is now on her second inactive pill.

Have had breakthrough bleeding (5 days) about i'd say 4 times, which definitely wasn't like this one... i had a breakthrough bleed recently a week before i had tummy cramps & felt rather nauseous then got my period that lasted 10 days it stopped i had intercourse with my partner it came back lightly went away & once again with my partner afterwards there was bright red blood with some small & 10 cent piece size clots... i have always had the occasional bleed after intercourse but not like this.. i do have hpv & have a med- large lump inside i was told to leave it & it should go away.

It was successfully lowered by SLT and there have been no further changes. I do sometimes wonder about computer use. Can this affect eye health ? If so what is the safe limit ?
it's been 1 month and 1 weeks since i had my baby i went Dr on my 1 month check up for birth control started taking Viorele birth control 2 days after Dr checkup and I took 2 pills on tuesday afternoon since I missed Monday continued taking 1 pill at 7am for Wednesday ,Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday had unprotected sex Sunday afternoon and took the pill in the morning at 7 am can it protected me from being pregnant or not.
