Atorvastatin For A While? What's The Proper Dosage?
Oct 8, 2012
Hi. Can you help me with something? In the sea of the heart pills and blood pressure pills, my wife has another medicine in her "collection". She was feeling bad and she went to see her doctor. He was not there, so one older lady received her. She told her that everything is OK with her but that she needs to take Atorvastatin for a while. What that means - for a while?
Can you tell me who is prescribed with this medicine and do you even have a idea what is the proper dosage?

I was with my boyfriend last week and somehow we went too far. He inserted his penis for a few seconds and then took it out. This was my first time and after a day i started experiencing cramps and pain in my lower abdomen. My menstruation dates were due on the 25th but my cramps started on the 19th and intercourse happened on the 18th of this month. Thought it was not a proper intercourse because he did not insert it completely and he did not even ejaculate inside me. He also did not have any pre-ejaculation fluid on his penis at the time of insertion. However my menstruation started on the 22nd of this month. After a few hours I ate omelette and after that I started feeling very week and i vomited. After a few hours I again vomited and this time I was not even able to stand. Also I started experiencing severe pain in my stomach along with my lower abdomen. The bleeding is not too much whereas normally I bleed quiet a lot. I am really confused. Can I be pregnant? Please guide me through this. Thanks!

Does everyone know that diazepam comes in liquid form, doctors must do. Guidelines state to drop at the patients pace and when they are ready. But if you drop 10% from say 10mg to 9 mg ><10% of 9 mg would not be another 1mg it's .9 this where the liquid comes in useful as its easier to be more accurate.

For nearly 3yrs I was on sertraline, at the beginning it was awful. Dizziness, lack of interest, mood swings tired loss of appetite throwing up headaches and so on. I started at 25mg till we found the right dosage for me and that was 150mg. At this stage I was ok no anxiety, no panic attacks no fear no suicidal thoughts none of what I felt before. All of that was gone. I was me again. I felt good. When I started I was 58kg went down to 42kg had to wear kids cloths. Once I found the right dosage and started feeling good again I had everything back including my weight. Last year because I was feeling good I decided to stop it. My Gp told me it was too soon but I heard so much about the tablets I just wanted to stop them.
After a few weeks I realised was to soon and asked my Gp to put me back on them. So I'm back on them and this time I went up very quickly. I started straight at 50mg then 100 then 150 and back to 200 mg. I promise you it's worth going through all this side effects because after you will feel good again. This is my positive story to all of you. I really really hope it works for all of you as it did for me.

Long story short, I have two autoimmune diseases and I have death with chronic pain for about two years now. My doctor has me on 20MG oxycodone one every 6 hours. For the last month or so i have been taking two pills three times a day. So 2/20mg 3 times a day.
So when my doctor gives me 120 for a month it doesn't last and he know that I Have been using more for the unbearable pain. How do i Go about telling him that I can't keep staying at the dose he has prescribed because I am not getting any relief. I don't drink or do drugs and I have a bright future if I can keep my pain manageable. I am just concerned about what to say to my doctor without him thinking I am an abuser or him just prescribing the dose he has been prescribing that isn't working unless I double up.
How would you go about this?
Also, what is the maximum amount of oxycodone one can take in a day I find that a lot of my nasty pain comes from breakthrough pain.

I have started on orlistat today. I took one with my breakfast (bran flakes and semi skimmed milk) I went to a buffet this afternoon so didn't take one at lunch time ( I had weight watchers soup). I had a small piece of quiche, some weight watchers crisps and a tomato at the do!
I'm about to take one before my dinner of pasta and veg in chopped tomatoes, followed by low fat yogurt. I have also had a couple of biscuits, I've written it all down and estimate I will have had about 30g of fat. It's made me really look at what fat is in what I am eating as I am worried about the famous side effects.
I read on another site that some recommend just taking the tablets with lunch and dinner until you know what you know what you doing regarding the amount of fat you are consuming - has anyone on here done that?
I have quite a lot of weight to lose so I'm hoping this will work for me. I've been "dieting" for thirty years and more - always losing it and then putting even more back on.
I've read about some inspirational weight loss on this site so I'm keeping my fingers crossed (and some toilet paper in my knickers just in case) that I will lose well too!!

I've been on Lisinopril 20 mg. twice per day for more than 5-7 years now and works well on my HB. However, recently I'm getting mild headache along with swirling-feeling once awhile. I took on HB monitor(Reli-on) this morning and it was surprisingly high, more than 140 when I administered HB monitor twice.
My Dr. appt. is two months away and the Lisinopril 20mg. rx has two more refills.
Just wonder '2 tabs' Lisinopril 20mg. is low-dosage? Normally, what dosage most of HB folks have been on?

I’ve been a type 2 diabetic now for about two years and over the past few months my blood sugar levels have been steadily creeping up. I haven’t changed anything and what I eat stays the same, but for some reason it’s getting higher. Anyway, my docs decided that he wants to increase the amount of metformin that I take and I’m worried that I’ll get side effects, not feel great, and that it won’t make a difference.

I've been on 20mg citalopram for several years with no problems. Had odd moment of anxiety usually related to a new situation but very rare. Recently had a lot of stress in my life and felt very anxious, trouble eating etc. went to doc who increased citalopram to 30 mg. Day 6 of increase have had nausea, extreme tiredness, diarrhea (had when anxious). Anxiety has diminished but not liking other side effects. My doc says give another week as usually takes two weeks for increase to work and side effects to go. Does this sound right?

I've been on Dosulepin for about 7 months now for my anxiety disorder. It generally works well , and the side effects are manageable. However on occasion I've forgotten to take a dose at night. I've found that when this happens it can have a negative effect on my anxiety. I realise that this probably isn't a shock to most of you but it seems very strange to me after being on SSRIs for 5 years previously. With the SSRI the antidepressive effect was long lasting and a dose could be skipped accidentally without even noticing. With dosulepin one missed dose for me and I could be anxious for a week or 2.

Is anyone else out there taking Enbrel 75mg per week?
For years, my doctor has had me on three 25mg injections per week. I know that the recommended dose is 50 mg per week, and I know that studies by Amgen showed most people got no added benefit from the larger dose. But I also know that for a very small group of us, the larger dose is what's needed (out of all my doctor's patients, he said only 4 responded to the higher dose, and responded well).
After years of paying, my insurance company now has a problem with this. Which puts me in a situation where I risk the stability of my RA or pay an enormous bill.
So, I'm just wondering how many others are like me, responders to the higher dose? And if anyone has found a cheaper source of Enbrel (besides the Enbrel Assistance program which is like a catch-22 -- they only help on insured Enbrel, not Enbrel outside what insurance covers.

I saw my rheumatologist today and after being on Prednisone for 22 months and only getting it down to 9mg, which has happened several times, she continues to STRONGLY insist I start Methotrexate to help reduce my Prednisone dosage! She says I should at least give it a try even at the lowest dose for 3 months to see if it helps. She simply wants me to do whatever we can to reduce my Prednisone because of her real grave health concerns about my being on it long term. She says that if I don't start it at our next visit in 3 months she'll have to send me back to my doctor because she'll no longer be able to help me........and can bring in a new patient whom SHE CAN!! I don't want to risk the side effects of Methotrexate so I'm in a real quandry here. May I ask what experiences any of you have had with Methotrexate?

I was taking 100mg for 3 years and had tremendous weight gain and began getting numb toes and fingers. My GP reduced the dose to 50 mg and within the first month I lost a whole kilo and my bp dropped. Now trying to stop smoking too and with Zyban, and sleeping tabs I am getting night sweats and feel generally wiped out, so with gp's consent we are dropping the Atenolol totally and see what happens. Good luck to all out there who have found problems and I hope you find suitable solutions without the side effects.

I am 47 year old non-smoking Asian woman who eats healthy, exercise 3 times a week and occasional wine drinking. I take high BP medication for 16 years. Usually my BP is controlled but it gets high due to lack of sleep or before/during/after period. I have premature contractions (skip beat) sometimes. All blood work is normal, EKG, heart ultrasound, CTA, stress test has been normal. However, the last 1-2 months, I suffer new symptoms. My question is as follows:
(1) What is the approximate equivalent medication dose of Toprolol as to Inderal 10mg 2 times a day?
(2) After I switch medication from Inderal to Toprolol, I often experience palpitations or higher heart rate when I stand up or walk, especially in the morning. I also feel strange pressure feeling around my throat, upper chest and heart area sometimes. I had not had these symptoms when I was on Inderal. Could those symptom be due to Toprolol side effect? What kind of tests should I ask for?

61 and Yesterday my doctor told me that I have high cholesterol levels. I know how dangerous it can be, I know that it can affect my heart and trust me that is the last thing that I want because I had really good and quality life in these 61 years. He told me that I should not be that worried but he told me that he needs to prescribe some medication for me. He gave me atorvastatin drug. I am wondering how this drug can help me against high cholesterol?
