View 6 RepliesI have hand and finger cramping whenever I try to bend my left middle finger. The knuckle at the base of that finger is very red. I do have ulnar compression at the left elbow and weakness of the left little finger as a result. But I have not had this problem before. Any ideas on relieving the cramping until I can see a doctor? Is neurontin likely to help? Yesterday I had no problem with this finger.
View 3 RepliesI have washed my hands just to see if it was dirt or something when I did yard work last night. The top of my finger is orange/bronze looking and I've researched it and it could be gangrene but I seriously doubt it, but never know. I came here to ask others what it could be.
I realized it about 2 1/2 hours ago at school during breakfast. I thought it was strange cause I have not ever seen it before. It doesn't hurt that I know of yet. Its just like below my nail not like underneath it but below it.
That's all I can really say about it right now. If anything comes up or affects any other places on me will let ya know
I broke the ring finger from the left hand and have consulted with two trauma specialists in hands, yet one recommended surgery and the other not.
Can someone tell/confirm me if my case really requires surgery or not and if it´s not required, will the sensitivity and finger mobility affected?
Don't know how I've hurt my finger, but have a hard knot on knuckle, whole finger swollen can't bend very painful? What is this?
View 3 RepliesI am 18 and back in May I guess I "jammed" my finger. I say I guess because I really don't know WHAT exactly happened. My two dogs got into a little fit and when I was separating the two of them I don't know what I did, but I really messed up my finger. After it all happened my hand hurt REALLY REALLY bad. It also started swelling pretty much immediately. I waited a couple days and then went to the ER because I figured maybe I dislocated my finger or something. They did an X-ray and came back and said there was nothing wrong, and probably a sprain so they sent me home with an ace bandage and some ibuprofen. Fast forward to now.
The swelling in my hand has gone away after about two months of not moving it a lot and keeping it wrapped up. But each time I completely straighten (like I am stretching my hand) out, my ring finger makes a clicking noise and kind of pops up. Moving it certain ways, making a fist, putting pressure, pulling, or grasping something wrong hurts extremely bad. I can feel it move down at the base of my finger (like my last knuckle). It has caused a problem for me because it hurts with most normal things that I do. Even typing this is irritating.
So I finally went to an orthopedic and he looked at my hand and X-rays and said he isn't sure what it is and he recommends me to see a hand surgeon.
I did. I drove almost 2 hours each way to see this doctor and here's what happened in a span of 3 different visits.
He suspected trigger finger even though he said certain symptoms were odd. He gave me a cortisone injection into my left ring finger and OMG that was painful. But to be honest that pain from the swelling of the injection was about as bad as my hand felt right after it happened. But sadly that didn't help. So my doctor sent me to get an MRI. With the results of the MRI, he told me that he saw swelling in my finger and that he thinks is in the sheath but said he doesn't know what is causing that. So he told me he was stumped and should see someone who is more of a specialist and gave me a few names. None of them take my insurance.
So I decided to put all of my info out here and see if someone has had something similar happen or knows what might be going on with my finger.
I will also post below the "findings" on my MRI report.
"There is a focus of marrow edema involving the dorsal aspect at the base of proximal phalanx fourth digit and adjacent dorsal aspect head of fourth metacarpal with a focal small cortical invagination of the metacarpal which may be post traumatic in etiology from previous impaction. No discrete fracture or dislocation is appreciated at the fourth digit IP joints pr MCP joint. The flexor and extensor mechanisms and tendons appear intact. No significant sized joint effusions. No significant degenerative or arthritic bony changes are appreciated. Visualized musculature has normal signal. Subcutaneous tissues are intact."

View 1 Repliesa while ago my friend cut his hand and some of his blood got onto my hand and under my fingernail. I noticed dried blood under my fingernail the next morning.
1. would the virus be dead before it touched my hand ?
2. can the virus get through under the finger nail ?
3. does dry skin and paper cuts allow entry into the bloodstream?
4. is this a no risk situation?
5. no need to test? .
i just need clarification as I'm not 100% sure.
I was very scare and worried about my recent expose. during the April 14, i was visit the CSW. there are not any sexual contact, handjob and fingering or body rub happen in the expose. what i did is i ask for the CSW masturbate herself then i ask for passing me a condom as i would like to fingering her with protection. the concern part is that the CSW may have some vaginal fluids when she open the cover of condom for me then i got touch the condom and put my right hand finger into the condom but the end i dint fingering her as my nail is too sharp and i suddenly don't want to do that. but i got watch my hand and check again and again, i could not find any significant cut or fresh bleeding on my two hand or fingers. all my memory can recall is i got ask her to use another hand to pass me the condom.
1. may i know the risk of hiv and std from the incident?
2. can the hiv risk occur if the vaginal fluids contain of the surface of condom?
3. can the hiv risk occur from object? is the condom consider an object?
4. should i go for test?
hello all, 2 months ago i wrecked my dirt bike, my thumb bent back and touched my wrist. my hand, thumb, and pointer finger swelled up and hurt bad. after a few days i noticed a bruise running from my elbow all the way to my hand. now the pain is mostly gone as well as the bruising , but i have a small hard knot right where my pointer finger and thumb come together. is this a torn tendon or should i get this looked at like i should have in the first place..
I recently broke my left ring finger, 4 months ago, now slightly below my index finger is a small lump that looks like it is my tendons. This lumps starts a raised line in the center of my hand, proceeds up by my index finger as well as slightly splitting off towards my middle finger. I also have light pain in my hand, especially after I do something with it. Also my finger still feels very strange to move and bring down to my palm. It also is sometimes slightly stiff. The line/lump is what I would describe to be my bone or tendons.
View 1 RepliesI'm seeing a neurologist next week because of the above symptoms. I'm a 68 year old woman and my GP said it's the way my body is aging! I'm not so much worried (about for example Parkinson's) as intrigued. I know lots of people suffer hand and finger tremors but I am a bit unnerved by my hands and fingers moving very, very slowly on their own. As I stop typing for a moment my right little finger has raised itself from the keyboard as if it were being pulled but very very slowly. My whole hand will slowly curl and even my arms will move on their own if I am "at rest". It's probably something with no explanation but I wonder if anybody else who has been diagnosed with a neurological/muscular condition has experienced this symptom. I do feel as if I am trembling right through my body and my feet will also move independently if I keep still long enough. I don't seem to have any other Parkinson's symptoms.
View 3 RepliesI have had this for over a week, and it seems to be getting worse. I am 33 and in very good health.
The 1st knuckle on my index finger is pretty swollen, stiff and has a fair amount of pain when I bend or touch it. I have already been to urgent care, and was told it was not infected due to no heat or redness. I was given Ibuprofen and a splint, told to follow up tomorrow if no improvement. They sugest bloodwork to test for uric acid or arthritis. he said possibly gout, but that is usually more painful. I do eat a high red meat diet, with higher purine foods- ie aspargus and beans.
I do not recall injuring it enough to cause anything like this. i do crick my knuckles- old habit I am slowly breaking- but that has never given me problems either. I have started cold compress today and occasional war, Ill see what that does.
So for a few days on and off my left index finger has been tingly. It's just the tip of my finger and it is on and off. I work as a server and use my hands a lot. I've been wondering if it's just a burn. It feels like there is a string around the first joint of my finger. Not to tight but just annoying. I can still move it and feel things so it's not completely numb just a little tingly. Thanks for any help you can give

View 4 RepliesFirst of all, i'm 22, and have never had any heart problems in my life. But recently, i have been having shortness of breath when going to bed at night. It does my head in, it takes me slightly longer to sleep because i can't stop tossing and turning. And just yesterday, i experienced a numbness in my left hand.
I had similar symptoms a few months back, and the doctor said there was nothing wrong with my heart, and that it was anxiety. I mean i work out 3 times a week, and never have any problems, so why can't i sleep?
help! i have anxiety problem but recently i feel normal again until today i felt my left hand feel numb and it makes me scared whether it is heart attack. however i have exactly the same experience with this last week and i have done ecg and it turned out okay. i also have done ecg many times and every times it shows okay. but im still scare and feels worried. is it normal for anxiety patient or not?
View 1 RepliesAbout 2 week's ago I took 2 perc within a night and the next day I got sick, I thought from the pills, but than I was nauseous and have been for the most part ever since. My left side mid to lower back started hurting approx a week ago and it's gotten much worse last night and now I'm having pain in my upper right abdomen as if the pain moved. I'm on muscle relaxers for my back already but it's not affecting/helping my new pain though and the new pain doesn't feel the same. I was just curious if anyone had any idea what it might be, some say kidneys but does that pain or can it move from my back to my abdomen?
View 1 RepliesI've had flares off and on but didn't get dx til May. Woke up around 3am and one of the fingers on my right hand is incredibly painful and can't move it. It's been locking up for past few months and I have to use the other hand to open it up. Is this a part of this disease?
View 16 RepliesMy recovery was going great. Could straighten to zero and 125 degree flexion. While at PT doing heel slides, knee locked up. Therapist said To stop doing them for now. Locked up last weekend while stretching and I couldn't straighten it for 24 hours. Saw surgeon's assistant and no issues showed up on plain X-ray ... I have a CT scan scheduled for this week. Locks up randomly while bending with normal activity (sitting for example). Can sometimes get it unlocked by stretching my heel up towards by back. Anyone have issues with your knee locking (will not straighten).
View 1 RepliesAfter MRI my diagnosis was "Lots of mileage left, another 10 years, at least!" (I am 75)! Good to hear but still have to be careful going DOWN stairs! Not too bad going up! Some pain now and again. BUT I sometimes get a strange feeling on upper left thigh, (the worst knee), as if it is wet but when I touch the skin it is totally dry! Happens after I have been standing for a couple of hours. Also, sometimes the skin feels sore, but there is no evidence to show. Has anyone had similar feelings?.
