Arthritis :: Mild Arthritis - Skin Feels Sore

After MRI my diagnosis was "Lots of mileage left, another 10 years, at least!" (I am 75)! Good to hear but still have to be careful going DOWN stairs! Not too bad going up! Some pain now and again. BUT I sometimes get a strange feeling on upper left thigh, (the worst knee), as if it is wet but when I touch the skin it is totally dry! Happens after I have been standing for a couple of hours. Also, sometimes the skin feels sore, but there is no evidence to show. Has anyone had similar feelings?.

Proctosedyl Worked For Treating Piles?

I've just been diagnosed with hemorrhoids. From what I can tell, I've had them for a while. They advised me to change my diet to include a high amount of fibre and absolutely no straining when passing a bowel movement. They also prescribed me proctosedyl for it. However, from the packaging, this just seems to be pain relief or to ease discomfort.

Is this true or am I misreading something? Do I need this to treat my hemorrhoids or will they heal up and go away by themselves if I change my diet?

Molluscum Contagiosum :: Treating With Tea Tree Oil - Gone Red Around Outside

My daughter is seventeen and has Molluscum Contagiosum all over her neck. She also has some on her arms and I fear maybe getting them on her face. This is extremely distressing for a girl of her age. She has had them for about eight months. I have been trying the tea tree oil and giving her extra vitamins. They have gone red around the outside, but I wondered if that was just because I am burning them with the tee tree oil as it smells quite strong. Does anyone have any more information about this terrible condition.

Alternative Therapies :: Coconut Oil Pulling For Treating Allergies?

I was wondering if anyone here has ever tried oil pulling for treating allergies? Also, I was wondering how effective it is for treating allergies?  A woman at my local health food store suggested I try it, instead of using OTC allergy medications.  I've been taking 2 Coconut Oil softgels daily, plus my usual dose of antihistamines.  I love the coconut oil because of the boost it gives me, but would really like to get away from the antihistamines because it drops my energy level, basically I want to replace the allergy meds...

Henoch-Schonlein Purpura :: Treating Vasculitis-HSP With Medical Cannabis?

Has anyone ever used medical cannabis to help treat HSP in children? My 13 year old nephew was diagnosed with a severe case of HSP and was recently released from a week stay at two different Hospitals in Arizona.  They have him on two different blood pressure medications (the Hsp caused him to have very high blood pressure) and told him he could take tylenol for the pain along with weekly urine tests and monitoring his blood pressure daily. However, since he's been home from the hospital (3 days now) he can't eat, the pain in his joints, muscles, and stomach has yet to diminish, and his rash has flared up again (ankles, thighs, back). He has zero appetite and a lot of pain and discomfort.  I'm curious to seek out treatment that involves using medical marijuana with less THC and more CBD, which i've been told is safe to give children (less of a high but helps relieve pain and nausea) and help get his appetite back. I know medical marijuana is super controversial, especially with children, but it seems steroids and pain medication from doctors has a long list of side effects and other problems.

If anyone has ever tried medical marijuana to treat HSP, please let me know. No doctor will ever talk about or advise us when it comes to outside remedies.......but i'm thinking outside the box, we need to get his appetite back and help lessen his pain.

Anti Anxiety Drugs :: Treating Insomnia With Lorazepam And Xanax

I’ve been under a lot of emotional stress lately and this reflected mostly on my sleep patterns. So far I’ve tried using melatonin supplement before bedtime, but I can’t say it’s working since I’m still awake almost until dawn. My physician recommended I try this first, before medications like lorazepam or Xanax, but I can’t go on like this anymore and I’ll just have to try some of these meds.

From your experiences, which one of these, Lorazepam or Xanax is more effective in treating insomnia? Or is there some third option that is more effective than either of these?

Atrophic Vaginitis :: Vitamin E Suppositories In Treating The Dryness In The Vagina?

i have read on here that Vit E suppositories can be very helpful in treating the dryness in the vagina.  I have had numerous treatments off my doctor but suffer from side effects making it difficult to continue with treatment on a regular basis.  I have given up on intercourse altogether and am only 57 and live with my partner who is very patient but I know misses the physical side of our relationship.  I would love to find something that would make it possible for us to return to a more physical relationship again.  Has anyone been successful in using this treatment?

Eye Shingles - Nothing Helps

About 5 weeks ago my right eye started to feel extremely painful to the point I ended up to A&E, The diagnosis was that I had a cornea cut and I was given some eye cream, over the following couple of days things go much worse, again back to A&E and still cornea cut, finally I was able to go to an Optometrist who quickly told me that the cream I was given were absolutely no help as I had Eye Shingles, and she prescribed VIRGAN,she also made a follow up appointment as I am half blind (left eye)..... 2 weeks passed and started to feel better, however follow up app and apparently shingles were still there. I was given tablets against the viral infection.....now after 10 days I feel it has gone worse where I am unable to look in the light at all and I am at a loss..... I would go back to the Optometrist on Monday but losing faith and not sure what else they can do as obviously I am pretty much at a loss (no punt intended).... anyone has had experience with eye shingles and what were the best "products" provided?

Yogurt Helps When Applied To Sunburn?

My six year old daughter has suffered from a bad sunburn and I feel dreadful. I realize it is absolutely my fault that it happened, but we having fun at the beach and we forgot the time. I really didn't notice how red she was until much too late.

At the moment it is sore and hot to the touch and she's in pain.

Now I have heard some stories about things that might help. The only thing I have in the house right now is Greek yoghurt. I don't want to run off to the pharmacy because I would rather take care of it right now.

Cannabis Helps My Neuropathic Pain

I was diagnosed with peripheral polyneuropathy 11 years ago. I take 300mg lyrica/day 60mg duloxetine/day and now they want me to take an opiate nucynta to manage my pain since I have trouble with pain. I live in California and recently got my MM license and obtained some Charlotte's web which is suppose to help with pain. Helps a little but pain killers work better. A friend of mine had me smoke some pot by way of vaporizing and it actually took my pain spike away for about 5 hours. Has anyone experienced this before? I'm afraid of what vaporizing cannabis could do to my health. However I feel like I actually have found a way to reduce my intake of meds and much more affordable.

Pinching Your Lip Helps To Stop Leg Cramps?

Years ago (on Woman's hour I think) I heard that strongly pinching your lip helps to stop a cramp.

I know that there is no scientific evidence for such a form of treatment but it certainly works with me and several other people I have suggested it too.

Since it is likely to be harmless it seems to work on at least some people it would seem worth suggesting and even one day doing a proper trial on more patients.

Certainly as good as most other suggested forms of treatment

Gabapentin :: Helps Acquired Nystagmus?

I was prescribed 300mg to be taken at night of Gabapentin for acquired nystagmus. I have been diagnosed with severe bilateral vestibular lose and in conjunction with nystagmus, I've developed oscillopsia. My GP recommended Gabapentin as a means to possibly settle down nystagmus. Has anyone had experience with this or any advice to share in how long it takes to understand if it does or does not work. I'm only couple days so experiencing some side effects such as headaches and dizziness but I assume this will pass.
