Anxiety :: Tapering Off With Venlafaxine Slow Release / Liquid?
Jul 23, 2015
Started ven weeks ago as though i may get an improvement. All its done is make me ill. Now starting to taper. Anyone cut/split etc ven slow release? The experts say not to. I am only on 37.5 but i seem to be very sensitive to it indeed. I know there is ven liquid but seems to be diff to source + quite honestly it is easier shaving off part of a pill.

Been on Venlafaxine 75 mg timed release tablets for about two years. I have waited til the spring to try to come off as it's sunnier and better time of year to do it. Had mild depression for two years and then had some nasty panic attacks when I moved house two years ago. In the UK we have the normal tablet and then the timed release tablet. I am trying to come off by using the 37.5mg timed release in the morning then the 37.5mg normal tablet with 10% (7.5 mg) chopped in the evening, for a starter. I previously tried going one day on the 37.5 and then the 75mg and try to alternate but this seemed too big a drop for me. Funny now as I feel a bit more snappy and vulnerable with this tiny 10% reduction. I was hoping that this small reduction wouldn't be noticed and I could slowly withdraw from this drug.

I've been diagnosed with depression for over 10 years now. During that time I've had a few antidepressants. Last year I had a breakdown partly caused by a good friend committing suicide but mainly due to my mother and as a result, my medication was changed. Without any information or guidance, I was put straight onto 150mg of venlafaxine capsules. I've never been happy on this, there's always been something not quite right but I've trusted my doctor. Recently I've started to have like a heart rush feeling. I'm constantly tired on it as in I wake up more tired than when I went to bed, I have severe constipation, I've started to sweat a lot (I've never been one for sweating), I've had brain zaps and body judders and suffer with headaches. Since June, which is when I was put on it....I've gained a whopping stone and a half (I've never had a weight issue ever!) and my sex drive is none existent. I feel very out of it and have became very distanced from making any sort of effort. I'm desperately worried about being on venlafaxine but I'm even more worried about coming off of it. I feel I've been fobbed off a bit by the medical professionals and when I go to discuss my symptoms all I get is "well it's a side effect of depression". I absolutely HATE feeling like this, it's actually worse than ever. My husband works away on a two on two off shift and I have 2 boys aged 12 and 10, I also have 3 dogs. It's an effort to do anything, even getting out of bed or cooking is such a thought. I would really appreciate your advice on how I should go about coming off my dose.

I was never told by doctor 2 important things. 1) Only take Xanax when you feel a major attack coming on. 2) DO NOT stop taking it cold turkey. After being diagnosed with Anxiety a few weeks ago, I started taking .12mg of Xanax 3 times a day, it did make me feel better, but after experiencing some harsh side effects. I decided to see my doctor. He then told me that I only should be taking it when a major attack comes on and that I need to stop taking it 3 times a day. Well, I have not had any major attacks, but now I am starting to feel heavy chest pressure, shooting pains, and headaches. After doing some independent research, I found that these are most likely the effects of stopping Xanax cold turkey, which is strongly discouraged. My doctor never told me this. So now I am trying to figure out what I should to resolve these latest issues. Everything I read points to taking the Xanax again, but tapering off of it slowly. Any advice as to how I should go about this? Should I take .12mg twice a day, regardless of an attack, and taper off from there?

Hi I have been on Mirtazapine 30 mg and Venlafaxine 75mg now for a good few weeks with the Venlafaxine being introduced 4 weeks ago! Initially when I was on the Mirtazapine alone I didn't see any difference in my mood or anxiety but once the Venlafaxine was added into the regime I felt great and back to my normal self was so happy with zero anxiety! However the past week now I have had the anxiety come back and the low mood also and I can feel myself going back to the way I was before the Venlafaxine was added in! I have had a terrible weekend with crippling anxiety and have had to take diazepam which I haven't done in a long time! Do you think I would benefit from an increase in dosage of the Venlafaxine? As I am so desperate because this drug made me back to who I once was but I can slowly feel myself slipping away!! I have just left a voicemail on my psychiatrists telephone number asking can I be seen tomorrow regarding my medication! I'm not sure whether the dose I am now on is low and I would benefit from an increase? I am desperate you see as I have a 10 week old son and I am unable to look after him when feeling like this my mother has had to take him overnight for me!

I've been taking Venlafaxine (75mg twice a day) for the past 5 weeks for Generalised Anxiety Disorder.
How long does it take to start working, and can it increase your anxiety levels before it starts to work.

i had an assessment after struggling with depression and anxiety for yrs , finally went back on ADs just before xmas, after trying sertraline , mirtazapine i'm now on venlafaxine , over the last 6 weeks it's increased to 225mg. My assessment came out with a high score in the range of severe depression and anxiety . I have previously had time off work due to this , however i'm doing my best to stay at work as i'm only p/t and work with some fab ppl . However i feel like everything is getting too much again , i had gp last wk and i just said all was ok , it wasn't but my child was in the room so couldn't speak , Also had my first cbt session today a ' panic workshop ' one , even with them discussing panic attacks makes me feel edgy and haven't been able to shake the feeling off since , i feel like i'm fighting a losing battle and just cant cope. So much has gone on recently , 7yr relationship breakdown / ended . Problems with child behavior , time off work last yr for an op that didn't go to plan ( should of been day surgery - 3 days in hospital , 7.5 wks off work ) moving house , family disagreements ( not to do with me but get dragged in ) Just so much - i don't know what to do , i feel like a whinge if i go back to gp again.

Anyone recommend a supplement to help me calm down and relax, as I'm withdrawing from Venlafaxine and I'm really having a difficult few days!

I've been on it for years and it's been brilliant. I was tired all the time and it gave me new energy.
The downside is that if you miss a couple of doses the withdrawal side-effects are quite horrendous. Venlafaxine XL (time released ones) are gentler with the side effects than the ordinary ones.
They've definitely worked for me.

I have been on 1.25mg of bisoprolol for nearly a year now. I was put on it due to an irregular heartbeat. my heart would either miss a beat or totally go into overdrive. The doctor never sent me for further tests. So my question is what causes this problem. My heart still jumps about but not as much. but sometimes when I do a little exercise I feel very odd for example can't lay on my left side because it hurts around my heart plus my chest can feel tight and today my heart rate is 52 where normally its in its 80's.

Hi, so I am now 19 years old, and I got circumcised two years ago, when I was 17, because I had phimosis.
Though the scarred area should be long healed by now, I think mine has been very slow. It is still a little red, especially when I get erections, and there are still marks from the stitches.
I would like to change this and make it fully blended, and I was wondering how can I do this?
I did use an antiseptic cream for a while, till I later found out that this can slow the healing process. Could this be the main reason?
Also, if I use Vaseline petroleum jelly, would that be helpful at this point.
Thanks.

I had AF with hyperthyroidism in 2013 and the AF was attributed to the hyperthyroidism. I was chemically cardioverted within the first 24 hours at my local hospital. Then I had another bout of AF when I was euthyroid and I was (so far successfully) electrically cardioverted in late 2014.
I was put on bisoprolol after the first bout of AF and since being on bisoprolol, have have been troubled by excessive sweating and very poor/slow recovery from even minor exertion. I will spontaneously start sweating for no reason and it takes ages to stop and by then I am soaked through - head, face, chest & back. After exertion e.g 20 mins walking on a running machine, it will take me 2-3 hours to stop sweating & being flushed.
Has anyone else had a problem with bisoprolol and excessive sweating/poor recovery from exertion?

So basically it all started a few months ago back when i had a terrible panic attack on weed. I smoked a blunt with a friend, i don't know whether the weed was laced or anything, but my friend seemed perfectly alright so i don't think it had anything in it. I thought i was going to die, my heart beat really fast, i felt sick and i thought i was going to be insane for the rest of my life. The next day after the panic attack i felt slightly weird and a bit paranoid when i woke up in the morning. I then went to work as usual and i realized that something was a bit off. I didn't know back than that it was probably derealization. Anyway two days after my experience everything was fine and i didn't waste to many thoughts on my experience. Until about two and a half months later...
It was pretty much a stressful time period in my life and i worked quite a bit. I didn't touch anything after that experience, but one day after work and a work out at the gym i had a bad panic attack which was sort of like a flashback to my experience as well. It hit me when i was walking in a park at nighttime and i felt very bad for an hour. Eventually it wore off and I went to sleep that night. The next day i was thinking about what i had experienced the last night, but i thought i might have been just really tired or didn't eat enough. The next days i had small attacks which were bad, but didn't concern me too much, but little did i know that i was getting a flu. During my flu which lasted a week the derealization hit me again. All the lights were really bright and i felt in a dream like state. Those feelings eventually passed with the flew after about 2 weeks.
A few weeks back from now i had another big panic attack which also felt a bit like my first panic attack on weed, so i guess it was sorta like a flashback. At that point i didn't know what was happening to me. Why was i always getting these attacks?? Did the weed trigger something or am i psychotic now?? I was really afraid to go insane and lose my mind. I was researching about schizophrenia and how panic attacks/derealization are a common symptom of it. I felt constantly like i was drunk/high, i had long after images, objects were breathing when i looked at them, lights were always too bright, everything felt unreal like in a video game. This made me feel really anxious all the time and i think this got me deeper into the derealization. The panic attacks have passed, but until now which has been probably about 2 months with more or less derealization i don't know what to do. I don't know how it got triggered, whether i do have a ptsd from my weed panic attack which i have to think of very often these days as i see it as the point where everything started. I am constantly worrying about losing my mind and don't know what to do. Do you think i might have a psychosis or is it more a ptsd or a anxiety disorder? Please let me have your thoughts.

I'm seeing a neurologist next week because of the above symptoms. I'm a 68 year old woman and my GP said it's the way my body is aging! I'm not so much worried (about for example Parkinson's) as intrigued. I know lots of people suffer hand and finger tremors but I am a bit unnerved by my hands and fingers moving very, very slowly on their own. As I stop typing for a moment my right little finger has raised itself from the keyboard as if it were being pulled but very very slowly. My whole hand will slowly curl and even my arms will move on their own if I am "at rest". It's probably something with no explanation but I wonder if anybody else who has been diagnosed with a neurological/muscular condition has experienced this symptom. I do feel as if I am trembling right through my body and my feet will also move independently if I keep still long enough. I don't seem to have any other Parkinson's symptoms.

I'm looking for any kind of help/relief from tarsal tunnel symptoms and pain. I had a severe sprain (lateral ankle and high ankle) the end of October that has just turned into so many additional problems, one of them now being tarsal tunnel. I've had the EEG to confirm. I've done cortisone, steroids, PT with ultrasound and all kinds of other treatments. I need to have ankle reconstruction done and they are planning on the tarsal tunnel release at the same time. It should have been scheduled and done already, but I managed to herniate L5/S1 so bad that surgery couldn't wait on my back. I'm almost at 3 mos post op for that. With the recovery for that all my ankle problems had subsided because I wasn't working or on my feet much at all.
Now I'm back to work and living my normal life again - all the pain and swelling is coming back. In the last week, the aching, burning and tingling has kept me up three nights. I try and stay off my feet at work as much as I can (I only work 3 days, 5-6 hrs a day), but by the time I get home my foot hurts so bad I could cry. It's the inside ankle, heal, arch and now even the front of my ankle going up into my shin. I bought some KT tape and plan to take it to PT (for my back) to see if they will show me how to apply it for my ankle.
Any advise or similar symptoms. I have an appointment to follow up this Thursday. I'm hoping for maybe another injection (last one was in January) just to get me through til I get the surgery. I really don't want this during the summer, I'd much rather hold off until early fall.

I have been on Metformin for about a year now and I have had nothing but trouble with it. I thought the side effects would have gone away by now, a long time ago, but I am still having a bad time with them. I have diarrhea and have headaches from it. I told the doctor I wanted to switch meds. I want to try this metformin modified release. I heard it doesn't cause the side effects that the ordinary metformin causes. Does anyone know about this type of metformin? Have you ever been on metformin mr and if you have, how did it do for you? I am hoping that it doesn't have the side effects the pill I am taking has. It would be nice to feel like "normal" again, without diarrhea and headaches.
