View 1 RepliesI have had an ulcer now for almost 2 years, I have been to the doctors around 10 times, I was first given mild antacid pills to take for 1 month, they did nothing, I was then given stronger anti acid pills to take for a month, I saw around 2 days towards the end of the pills of no pain, but then it came right back, so I was then given the same pills to take for 2 months, but they done nothing.

That was Feb 2014 and I'm on crutches permanently.
About 3 weeks ago the GP put me on MST {took me off the codeine} To be taken twice a day {12 hours between them}
I'm on Naproxen......twice a day {12 hrs between them}
I've been taking both together...9am and 9pm Does anyone know if there is any reason why I shouldn't take them together?
I take Naproxen for Rheumatoid arthritis but as I have high blood pressure I also need to take Losartan 50 mgms daily. My GP now wants me to have 6 monthly blood and urine tests. I think this is because these drugs combined can cause kidney problems. Has anyone come across this before?
View 5 RepliesMy instructions for taking Naproxen indicate that it should not be taken with aspirin. My question is; how much time should I let go by after taking a Naproxen to be able to take aspirin?
View 6 RepliesGP has given me Naproxen as I am suffering with sciatica. I also take Citalopram and asked him whether it was ok to take these two medications together - he said it was fine.
Several sites however mention that you shouldn't take these medications together.
I have had constant tension headache for four weeks now I have been prescribed naproxen which I have taken twice a day for tension headaches I have used the whole 28 pack and now my gp thinks I have a rebound headache, they have advised me to stop taking it, I tried this the other day and by 2pm the pain was awful I could not even move. There has never been a point where the pain from the tension headaches got better so I never stopped taking naproxen
Has anyone has similar issues? How much naproxen do u take for tension headaches? Because from day one my headaches have been unbearable it's so bad that without the naproxen it's painful to just breath, confused.
I haven't been feeling too well lately so have been absent from posting it reading on these boards. I have a host of illnesses including severe osteoarthritis, mild spinal stenosis, Graves' disease (suffered and survived a mistreated thyroid storm), chronic pain, fibromyalgia, hypertension, LBBB (left bundle branch block in my left side of heart), tendinitis in my ankle, obesity, anxiety, major depressive disorder, etc. You get the drift. I also therefore take about 12 different types of medications equalling up to 24 pills a day I ingest. Oh and I also have anemia and some other female issues (i'm 52 years old)
Due to my latest complaints of severe nausea and lethargy my primary care physician advised me that he would like to see me first try to stop taking Naproxen. I currently take 500 mg twice daily. I stopped cold turkey on Tuesday night and today is friday. I am feeling awful. Please help are these withdrawal symptoms normal with even naproxen? I've been taking it for about a year and prior to that I was taking celebrex for about two years. I am not sure if I will feel better in a few more days of no more headaches and shaking and sweating and irritable bowel.
Has anyone successfully stopped naproxen and how long for withdrawals? And if anyone just decided that the risk of health issues arising from using naproxen was better than feeling pain?
I am using a host of other meds in conjunction with my pain specialist including a host of other opiates, etc.
Can someone help me? I don't know if I should just grin and bare it the worse almost over. Or should I give up and take it again. I don't want to be taking so many drugs any more. I'm feeling like they're killing me fast yet help with pain and daily living.
I find these tablets really good for my arthritis. I have arthritis in hips, knees and at the back of my neck.
I do not have any side effects
One day this week I had a toothache and wondered whether I could have taken something for it on top of Naproxen. I wondered about Ibuprofen or co-codamol.
I'm currently taking 2 500mg naproxen a day, One when I wake then One about 4/5pm to get me through the rest of the day but they're slowly starting to work less and less is there anything I can swap them with? Anything you guys take for anti inflammatory.
Maybe something over the counter I can take with it? Ofcourse not ibuprofen.
I had my surgery in 98. I've been symptom free for over 10 years. I recently hurt my back at work and was prescribed Naproxen (Aleve) because of the new pain med laws. Well after taking it for a week, I just started vomiting large amounts of blood. I went to the ER and they were shocked to hear that this was prescribed this for my pain since they were aware I had Crohn's. Has anyone else had symptoms like this from Naproxen? Would it be a honest mistake or malpractice?
View 1 RepliesI was on Naproxen for an elbow injury - torn tendons - and had to come off them due to the terrible constipation I endured while on them, despite the limited pain relief I enjoyed. I have had a medical today with my employers M.O. who is surprised to hear that Naproxen would have such a side-effect. Has anyone else experienced similar?
View 3 RepliesI've been on Naproxen 500 mg for a week to treat arthritis pain in my hand. I'm also using a brace. Almost seems to hurt more than it did before I went on the meds. Is this normal?
View 2 RepliesI am currently taking lisinopril 20mg 2x daily and Metoprolol 100mg 2x daily to control my blood pressure. I was have been diagnosed with sciatica which has driven my blood pressure up to 130's/90's in the past week. My question is, my doctor prescribed me Naproxen 500mg to take as needed for sciatic pain. Has anyone had any issues using Naproxen short term and interfering with their blood pressure?
View 1 RepliesI have been taking Naproxen for 1 month and I have started to feel depressed. I think that this could be one of the side effects.
View 1 RepliesI had Gout on an ankle in the summer of 2008, and was given Naproxen, and antibiotics. The Gout cleared up, I think, but both ankles and lower legs, have itchy rashes, and skin discoloration. It seems to be spreading up the legs. I have seen my Doctor, but have to wait three months for a specialist appointment. Has anyone else, encountered these circumstances?

View 1 RepliesLots of discussion about whether to take ibuprofen or naproxen for periodic pain. Some comment that one should never take these two pain killers because 1) they don't help or 2) they don't interact well. Read earlier today that if either of these drugs (also referred to as NSAIDs) work for you, you don't have PMR. So when some of you "flare" there is a tendency to increase the amount of prednisone as the antidote.
I am interested in your experience here. I have found that both ibuprofen and naproxen help a lot with the pain from periodic flares, and particularly at night. I have not had any adverse reactions in any form. I have resisted increasing the prednisone because I don't want to start tapering all over again.
I have been taking naproxen now for over a year and recently found that ,it's this tablet making me have profound hot sweats though the night ,that much ,that i have to change my bedding and nightwear, also i've found ,that when i wake in the morning ,i have a nasty foul salty taste in my mouth ,i will only have to carry on taking them for another 3 weeks as my specialist is putting me on methotrexate, I have also heard a lot about this tablet too ,risks to the liver and kidneys, and other things that are very scary.
View 1 RepliesMy doctor put me on 500mg Naproxen,twice daily, for a knee injury i sustained. The first day I took it, the pain was nearly gone. But of course it came back the next day, but much less. So on the second and third day, I stupidly took the afternoon/evening dosage without food...and I took one before I went to bed also(VERY STUPID, I know). But the next morning, when I had my BM, it was a bit constipated. But I was able to get it out. However, there was A LOT of red blood in the BM. I still took the two dosages that day(with food this time),and the next day(yesterday) my BM was perfectly fine. Today, my BM in the morning was normal. I took my dosage in the morning with food, and then my evening pill with a fruit salad. I felt like I ate A LOT of fruit salad for dinner, and had a rice/bean/cheese burrito after, then some ice cream for dessert. I immediately had an uneasy stomach, and had to BM again. There was red blood again this time. I made an appointment to see my doctor tomorrow morning to figure out what's going on. Does anyone here have any similar experience or any insight as to what or what this is going on?
View 1 RepliesI just wanted to share with everyone that I have tried Magnesium Citrate and Vitamin D for my TMJ pain and if anything, they actually made it worse. My wife recommended that instead of Advil (which does take the edge off a little) to try Aleve. I took (2) 220 mg pills right after dinner on a full stomach and noticed a big difference about 1-2 hours later. It kept me out of pain almost completely all night and I didn't even need to take more yet, knock on wood. I also noticed that a medical journal online posted that Naproxen had proven to be more effective than Ibuprofen or Tylenol for TMJ pain. Anyone else find this to be true for them too?
