Allergies :: Swollen Lymph Node Under Jaw Line In Throat?
Jun 13, 2015
Has anyone ever had a swollen lymph node under jaw line in throat because of allergies? I changed shifts at work and went to days about 3 months ago. Ever since the allergies have been brutal but I deal with it. I take occasional allergy meds. About the time I noticed a swollen lymph node on the left side of my throat . I also have occasional deep ear pain on same side. I went to my family doc and he didn't seemed worried. He gave me 500mg of amoxicillin and I took x3 a day. Well I took all the 30 pill dose and it's still swollen. It's sometimes sore but only when I mess with it. I'm 38 years old, healthy and do not feel sick. Should I worry about something major? Oh, I go to ENT in about a month to get a second opinion.

I have a swollen lymph node on the right side of my jaw for about 10 months. I finally decided to have it checked out and it was confirmed by a recent ultrasound. Ive no health issues to report other than tmj which I've had for many, many years. No gum, teeth, throat or ear issues. My understanding is this is normally caused by an injury or infection. I do not the remember the last time I was sick or injured as I've been fortunate to enjoy good health the last few years. I'm scheduled for another ultrasound in 6 weeks. Wondering what is causing this and what else I can do?

I'm 28, female & I recently checked my lymph nodes after a friend was diagnosed with cancer. I found a lymph node in my neck on the right about 1/2 an inch down. It was noticeably bigger than on the one on the left (I can only just find the one on the left) so I went to see my doctor & he said it was an infection & gave me antibiotics (Flucloxacillin). I told him I'm allergic to amoxicillin but I have since learnt that this is almost the same. He asked me to do a blood test which I did the next day.
I started taking the antibiotics & it made the node worse, it got even bigger. My mouth started itching & my tongue & throat swelled up. I decided it was an allergic reaction & stopped taking the antibiotics & went to A&E. I was now very tired and my body was aching where my lymph nodes are (groin & particularly under my arms) and my neck, back of head & upper back hurt. Dr at A&E said it was glandular fever but when I went back to my usual doctor the next day he said the blood test had come back clear. He said it was just a general viral infection. I don't believe him because I haven't got any symptoms like fever or cough or cold, it's just aching & tiredness.
I'm really worried now because the node has been swollen for 3 weeks in total & I am aching, particularly in my back and my neck always feels stiff & the node hurts off & on throughout the day. I don't know what to do, I feel like I'm just annoying everyone with it & don't feel like I can go back to the doctor again with this same problem. I touch the node every day, could this be why it's big? I touch the one on the left though too & that hasn't grown. There is just the one swollen node.

I had a panic attack last night because I think there's a lymph node swollen behind my ear, like right under it tucked behind my jaw. I'm freaking out. I keep checking it and it's still there. And last night when I felt it, I had this feeling that this was it, this is the one time I'm gonna have cancer. And then I just freaked out. I just had a blood test done three weeks ago and everything is normal but people online are saying that blood tests don't always detect lymphoma or other cancers so what's the point? Will we ever find relief? I don't know what to do. The bump is the size of a pea or smaller.

I had my lymph node on the right side of my neck swell up about a 2 weeks ago. It hasn't gone down at all and I have gone to the doctor. I had a negative strep test and I am going for a blood test soon. My hearing seems to be dulled as if I am flying to a place with high altitude, I have a really bad sore throat but not white spots or anything on the back of my throat, I have occasional mild headaches, fatigue, and a little bit of loss of appetite. I have tried antibiotics but they didn't work so obviously it is a virus. I am so confused with what i have to do but i hope it is not cancer..... I am only 15 and I am female.

I had a sudden swollen lymph node under my right side of my neck near my adam's apple. you can see its swollen to look at and is about the size of a cream egg it gets really painful sometimes when i eat especially crisps and things what make my tastebuds go, i have been on antibiotics for 3 days now but it only seems to feels painless when im sleeping but as soon as i eat swallow talk throughout the day it becomes more painful, i do feel run down some days and iv'e been taking co codamol for the pain as antibiotics don't take away the pain, iv'e just started to have cramps in my stomach this morning and diarrhea which maybe because of the tablets iv'e been taking. but im worried that the lymph node is never going to go down as it feels constant in my neck and i get the odd twinge around the area in pain and am just worried, could anyone give me an insight of when i should see my gp again if this doesn't die down in the coming days please?

So been trying push on from my health anxiety, thought i was getting somewhere until last night.. I was laid in bed last night and where my leg joins my hip was very tender, further investigation i could feel a lymph node (well I presume its a lymph node)
This was at like 11 o'clock last night, obviously started googling, diagnosed myself with cancer and got about 3 hours sleep. Not the first time I've noticed a lymph node and gone to the doctor's, happened twice before, one in my neck and one my groin a couple of years ago but they wasn't tender to touch.
Google was spurting all stuff out, it said to look for cuts on your legs etc if the lymph node is in your groin, I got bitten or cut myself on my left knee (the lymph nodes on the leg hand side) but that's a full thigh length away from the groin node! surely that can't be the reason for the lymph node been tender/swollen. It says to wait for 2-3 weeks to see what happens but health anxiety doesn't allow patience when it comes to stuff like this.

I'm 20 years old and I have a swollen lymph node on the side of my neck. It's painless and doesn't seem to move. I have no other symptoms and I haven't been sick which I know is a common cause. It seems like it's gotten a little more noticeable (and bigger) but that could just be my imagination. I only noticed it about 3-4 days ago (not to say I didn't have it earlier and just didn't notice; I found it by accident)

I noticed 3 weeks ago some tenderness and in my collar bone area. I felt around and noticed a tiny lump. (I need to move my shoulders forward and dig to find it )After a few days the pain was gone, but it is still a lump. It moves freely and is not hard. Urgent care said it was not concerning at all, but I can't stop feeling it. Does anyone else have palpable nodes there? I have no other symptoms.

My husband has had a swollen lymph node on the left did side of his neck, under has like beside the throat . it's been about 2 months . it is sore on occasion and has had occasional deep ear pain same size. He said he is not sick and feels fine. He has common allergies is it. No other symptoms. He went to the doctor and was prescribed amoxicillin 500mg and has been taking x3 a day. Today is the sixth day and still no results. Doctor said. One back when all the antibiotic is gone. He is kind of a worry wart about things and it's stressing him because he is thinking the worst. Is it common for lymph nodes to stay swollen for so long? He is pretty healthy.

I am a 30 year old female with a healthy lifestyle. For about 6 months I have had a lymph node (I think) in the top left side corner of my pubic area that is swollen for most of the day. It goes down at night and after being awake for a couple hours, it swells up again. Sometimes its more swollen than others and becomes painful to touch. It only happens on the left side.
I recently went to my primary doctor (general internist) for her to check it out but it wasn't swollen at the time (early AM) so she couldn't feel it. She ran a blood test and everything came back normal. She said that they are usually nothing to worry about if I don't have any other unusual symptoms.
I advised her of a condition in my left leg called Fibrous Dysplasia, in which I was born with and have had 4 surgeries for (last one was 5 years ago). She told me that since I don't have regular cuts on my legs, or anywhere else, and that I have no other odd symptoms that it could be caused by the associated inflammation of the problem in my leg.
I dont seem to think that its being caused by the inflammation in my leg because I was born with this condition and have had many many flare ups of inflammation and the swollen node started only 6 months ago.
I do have fairly bad environmental allergies so I am contributing it to that, but again, I've had allergies all my life too.
Also, I developed a problem about 4 years ago with a rash. It only appears on my legs (both) most of the time (about 90%) and sometimes on my arms. The rash shows up as small and large (largest size of a silver dollar) hard, red, and painful lumps. I've gotten a biopsy to confirm that it is a rash from my dermatologist. I also did an elimination diet on my own to try and figure out if they were occurring due to a food intolerance but didn't have any successful results.
With all of this information, would anyone be able to provide me with advice or a next step? Is there some other test that should be run? Could this be something other than a lymph node?

I am 20 years old and I am worried about a swollen lymph node behind my ear. It has been there for 3 years and it fluctuates in size. It is hard, immovable, and painless. Currently it is over 1 cm, it is about 2 cm large. I have not had it checked out by my doctor. Is there a chance this is cancerous?

I have a swollen lymph node just below the thyroid cartilage. It's been there for months. It doesn't change in shape or size (I think) and it doesn't hurt. I know it's a lymph node because I had an ultrasound for the six-moth thyroid check-up (I have Hashimoto's) and the doctor told me that's what it is. He was very hesitant when he told me I shouldn't worry about for now it and that got me thinking. Could it be something alarming?

Can a single slightly swollen lymph node under jaw appear after almost 8 weeks after a risky contact?
And maybe the lymph node is a cyst.

I found a lump behind my ear and it moved to the base of my skull. I was told it was a swollen lymph node. Do lymph nodes move? What would be the cause? I haven't been sick, so I am curious.

I am 16 years old and I have a swollen lymph node on my left side in the groin. It is hard, not painful and it moves easily. It is not very big ,even smaller than 1 cm (is that normal). And also on the other side of the groin on the same place I have another swollen lymph node but not that big as the one on the right side.It is important to say that I have had the swollen lymph node for more than a half year and I have had blood tests done but everything was fine.It hasnt got bigger nor smaller,it stays the same.I am very afraid of lymphoma but I read about it and I dont have any other symphtoms and I dont have swollen lymph nodes anywhere else on my body(I checked carefully). So am I just being hypochondriac or there is a possibility of cancer?

I have been dealing with TMD for a number of years. I have been diagnosed with tmj degeneration. It is pretty severe, but it has been under control for a while now and I have been pain free. But on Sunday I woke up with pain in my joint that I have never experienced. Then yesterday I noticed I had a cold sore, and then this morning I found a lump right next to my jaw (lymph node). I am assuming the lymph node and cold sore are related. But I wonder if this swelling could be throwing my TMJ off and causing the pain. I plan to contact my doctor about it...or dentist. Not sure which one.

My friend is staying with me and is feeling really ill and dizzy, his hands and feet are swollen, his neck is swollen and so is his face. His glands and lymph nodes are really swollen. He is really fatigued and has a sore throat. mostly it sounds like Flu symptoms apart from the swelling so can anyone help with an accurate diagnosis, he had his tonsils removed so it isn't tonsillitis.
I gave him co-codamol 30mg/500mg and ibuprofen 600mg tabs, he feels a little better but the swelling hasn't gone down much at all.

My son has had swollen eyes on and off but usually only one eye but is has happened in the other. I was told it's not pink eye probably allergies.
This morning he woke up with half of his lip upper and lower really swollen, no bites, not dark, just swollen.
When this happens whichever area is tender not itchy (except his eye but not all the time).
