Acne / Skin :: Sun Spots On Neck? Possible Accutane Side Effect?
Apr 7, 2015
I'm 16 years old and I recently discovered just a little area of brown colored skin on my neck. I reverently finished a 7 month course of accutane and I know it can affect your pigmentation in many ways.

I have acne and have just started accutane course (two weeks in). I also have fordyce spots on penis before treatment, fairly little and i could live with it. I read online many people think accutane gets rid of them and they do short term unitl you stop the drug but when they come back they come back 10 times worse. I really don't want this to be the case, and am seriously thinking stopping the course coz i dont want my penis covered when beforeĀ I had them but could live with it just about.

I have been using a lotion called dalacin t topical lotion from about october 2007, it really improved the big spots i used to get on my back, and it helped my face a little, but not much.So i went back to the doctors and she prescribed me with Oxytetracycline, which i take 2 tablets 2 times a day, so in total 4 a day. I have been on them for a month on this monday coming up (18th), that will then be a month, i think the doctor told me they would take about 3 weeks to a month to have a visual effect, im just hoping they do work! how has everyone's experience been with this medication? how long did it take for it to start working?

I'm 17 a soph in college and i've struggled with acne for 3 years now. i used to have amazing skin and then started getting mild acne here and there.
but now it has gotten so horrible that i can't even stand to look at myself in the mirror. my self esteem is down the drain. i don't go out at all, not even with friends or family. i just stay at home all day feeling like crap.
it has gotten so bad that i even broke up with my 3 year boyfriend. he says he loves me no matter what but i feel like he's lying. i just feel so ugly and disgusted with myself.
i have tried everything out there possible. every pill, every over the counter med, and every prescribed med there is. im starting accutane next month and i know it's supposed to do wonders but i just don't know what to do with myself till then.
i feel so hopeless and helpless. college is starting in 7 weeks and i wanted to have better skin before then but i don't even think that's possible. i hate being the only one with bad skin amongst my friend group. it seems like they all have flawless skin and im so ugly. i know it will get better after i start taking the pill but for now i feel so low and i feel like im crying all the time because of this.

Like many acne sufferers, I had a torrid time at school when my acne appeared; I totally understand the vulgaris name it is given...everything about it is vulgar! From the spots themselves to the bullying that my acne brought upon me.
Now in my early 20's I have finally found a product that keeps the oil and the spots at bay! Its called Aknicare and it worked so well on my skin, I was getting comments within 2 weeks of using about how good my skin was looking. It can be a little expensive but it is available on prescription so be sure to hound your GP to prescribe it. It is endorsed by one of the leading acne specialists in the UK; Professor Anthony Chu, which is how I came to hear about it.
If you can't get it from your GP there are some great offers on it at the moment, check out ebay where its free postage or the skinmed site where there's a great offer on the duo pack!

I have spots/spot scars on my back I have had them for years and they never seemed to go. They are visible in the pics but sorry about the lack of clarity because of the lighting but it just hard taking a pic of your back with a webcam but it captures some I think the lighting does not show the others. Here are the pics (be warned they not pretty)
http://imageshack.us/user/Terggi (I made a mistake with how many I put up there too lol)
please put a : and a / where the smiley face is there please as when I put those 2 together in the address it automatically comes up as a smiley face.
They are scattered all over my back it looks horrible Is there some sort of spot/ spot scar process that will remove or help fade these nasty looking things? and please don't recommend some oil or cream treatment crap as I tried those on spots elsewhere a couple of years back and they did nothing. And no they won't fade because I have had these on my back for 7 years now. I don't know what the hell started it it seemed to stem from a vacation in Greece. I not even sure if this is acne or just an outbreak of spots that ended up scarring somehow. I not sure where this topic should had gone by the way either I could not find acne or spots forum.

My 14 year old son used oxytetracycline 250mg 2 a day for 4 months ( should have been 6 really) for his terrible acne. Poor boy had spots on his face, neck, back and in his hair ( ouch) his G.P was great and we stuck to the course and now he's almost 15 .........not a mark, spot or pimple........he's also got his confidence back , acne can knock these kids for six. so after trying the cream, lotions, cutting out foods you name it we tried it .......

I am 31 and have been having ugly breakouts around my neck, chin and now jawline for the past 2.5 years. They appear to start with a blocked blackhead then erupt into a throbbing cystic lump. Sometimes they're squeezable and I always squeeze. I also lead quite a stressful life, moving a lot and not having any real stability. But I try to be positive, this just makes me feel self-conscious... I always had minor acne in the normal places. I even get a few on my back, they're located on my outer shoulders and shoulder blades these days, rather than the center of my back where they used to be. It's strange getting acne in new places.
The chin/jaw/neck ones have got worse and worse recently and I wonder whether they're to do with hormonal reasons and whether I should try progesterone cream for my face and neck, I know to alternate areas with the dosage. Is it worth trying? I also wondering if I'm washing my face enough? I usually do a bit of exercise each day and will wear a bit of makeup but generally wash my face twice daily, although sometimes I pass-out with my makeup on! Healthy otherwise. Oh, I do consume an awful lot of (non-dairy) chocolate though...

I am now 30 years old. I did not have serious acne problem on my face until the age of 27. Since the age of 27, my face started to have acne as shown in the images as attached. They usually start with little lumps under the skin. If I apply pressure to it, luckily there will be some grease in white color coming out from the pore, but more often the grease fails to come out, and the area becomes darker and darker, water starts to diffuse out of the area. Then the area starts to become painful ....

Hi, I have read that really dry skin actually helps acne get worse. I used this cream to exfoliate and the next day my face was real dry, so i applied aloe vera gel to my face to stop my skin from being so dry. Does aloe vera gel help the skin on your face from being so dry and does that in result help acne from breaking out?

I have had persistent acne on my chin for over a year now, but has worsened in last 6 months since my periods stopped, and all my other menopausal symptoms have flared up - all the typical ones.
It's driving me crazy and I am desperate for a cure! My diet is very good, and the rest of my skin is clear. I have tried every over the counter product, 2 courses of prescription antibiotics, and lots of different natural supplements.

I know most make-up clogs your pores and it makes your acne worst. But what happens to me is: I get a bad spot breakout, it goes away after a week or so and I'm left with red/purple scars. So I cover these up with make-up. But I think that makes me breakout all over again, so what types/brands have make-up that is slightly better for skin?
