Acne :: Is It Eczema? Face Is Dry, Red, Flaky, Itchy
Jul 21, 2013
My face is dry, red, flaky, itchy, and peeling but only on the right side. I work in a warehouse and was very sweaty this past week so I wiped my face off with a towel during the day, possibly further irritating and drying out my face. I also have purple pimple like bumps on my face but again, only on the right side.

My face is really itchy right around the edge of my face from under my ears down to my chin. Usually the right side but sometimes the left as well. It comes on randomly and usually lasts hours to days. It has been happening for a few months now and it gets so bad that I am scratching it like mad without realising it and leaving angry red marks all down the side of my face! Do you have any ideas what it might be?

I have dry flaky areas all over with often acne breakouts. I use moisturizer and cleanser, but they don't help. I'm considering to try exfoliating but I'm not sure if it will make acne worse or better. Also I'm worried that my skin may become more drier. What do you think? Is exfoliating good idea?

When I was a baby I suffered with very bad eczema, then when I was approximately 12/13 my eczema came back on my face along with bad acne, to clear up my eczema I used Aqueous Cream as well as Hydrocortisone Cream which worked and I also used Zineryt on my acne which eventually worked and my skin was back clear apart from the occasional hormonal spot every now and then which didn't bother me.
I am now 17 and towards the end of January this year I noticed my eczema was coming back as well as comedones so I visited the doctor about my eczema and was given Diprobase which I applied to my body and face 1/2 times day. I thought if I continued to use my Zineryt it would eventually clear up the comedones, which it didn't. Eventually the comedones also spread to my cheeks and my chin and now they flare up into painful spots and my face is now covered making me very insecure about my skin!
I re-visited a different doctor around 5 weeks ago and have been put on 1 a day Tetralysal antibiotics which haven't made the slightest improvement and my spots are still continuing to worsen and increase.
I have also been on the Cerazette birth control pill for around a year now I was wondering if this could be causing hormonal changes that have triggered my acne despite being on it so long?
If not I was wondering if the Diprobase/Aqueous cream could be causing my acne? (I stopped using this on my face 2 days ago incase but have still gained more painful spots and my skin is also becoming dry again)
I would like to know your opinion on what is causing my acne? What I can do to treat it? And how long it will it take to get back to a bearable state?

I have full body atopic eczema, i see a dermatologist frequently and i'm now on 200 mg of cyclosporine per day. It has really helped- but i still have a bit on my top lip (not lip lickers) and on my arms, its still a military operation with emollients and things but getting there.
I gave up the gym a while ago as my eczema was so bad but recently i've been wanting to get back into exercise. I've been doing it at home to control the symptoms but now i have bad patches all on the inside of my elbow. Does anyone have any ideas of how i can control this? I wear cotton clothing all the time- if i exercise its in sleeveless tops and shower straight after, emollients etc. my exercises only last for about 30 mins at the moment so its not too intense, can anyone recommend what i can do to stop/control this? i'm thinking of asking my gp for some dermacool to help with the itching and heat but if i want to exercise daily for my health then this is going to get out of control. any ideas?!

I've gotten eczema rashes for the past few years in very small patches on my upper arms and back. While annoying, it was not a big deal. But last week I washed my face and it felt irritated on my forehead. The next day when I looked in the mirror, the entire left side of my forehead had become a rough leathery patch. I was able to get it to go away by softly rubbing away the thickened skin in the shower, but over the course of the week, I have started to develop the same irritated, flaking and thickened skin on my eyelid, below both my eyes, under my bottom lip and on one of my cheeks. I went to the dermatologist who prescribed a ketoconazole and to start washing/moisturizing with cetaphil.
But I'm pretty embarrassed about these patches on my face and the dryness is super uncomfortable so I'm wondering if anyone has any tips on how to get it to go away faster.

Is there a successful treatment for this?
I have heard of laser treatments, but don't know much about this.
Since I was about 11, I have struggled with a weird type of dandruff. Pieces of my scalp flake off and hair falls out when this happens. I can't call this dandruff, as the pieces are bigger than flakes. Does anybody struggle with this? I have never been able to do anything about it.

I am looking for help with my itchy red rash. I posted under “Could this be scabies” a couple weeks ago. I am at my wit’s end. I went to urgent care about six weeks ago as I could not get in to see my doctor. He never got out of his chair to look at it closely and told me it was dry skin and gave me a topical cream to put on it. A week later I went to my doctor. She looked at it closely and said it did not look like anything contagious and gave me prednisone for ten days. Everything cleared up and I felt great. At that time I had rashes under one breast, one on back at a hard to reach area and a couple on my stomach line. They all went away. After being off prednisone for about a week they started coming back in other places. I saw a dermatologist and he looked at me with a lighted magnifying glass. He said it was dermatitis and prescribed betamethasone. The cream makes the spots go away over a period of days and the itching stops or lets up. But I keep getting new ones. I now have spots along underwear line that looks like little bites here and there and some larger. Also have a rash on the back of my neck that is just a lot of redness and itchiness with a couple bumps. My skin is so sensitive to the touch in those areas. Interesting thing is they are almost all on one side of my body and rarely go past the middle of the body no matter where they are. They also bother me during the day when my clothes and seams rub them, but when I go home at night and relax and put sweat pants on and a t-shirt the itching will subside some. I don’t have itching at night in bed but may wake up with a couple more spots. My husband has not had any itching at all this whole time. I have never had skin problems. Does this sound like dermatitis? I see the doctor in four weeks and he wants me to not use the cream on three areas so he can biopsy it to confirm dermatitis.

I've had the same condition on my left large toe for the past 3+ years now. It's extremely itchy, and bubbles up, and the skin then becomes soft and peels off, exposing the layers beneath. It then hardens again and repeats the process. There's a correlation with hotter weather and it becoming worse.
I've had it for a long time now but it's never spread anywhere else. However the list of creams I've been prescribed don't seem to do the job. I've included 3 very recent photographs. Anyone have any idea if this is an eczema or some type of fungus? The opinion seems to change doctor by doctor. Some say eczema, some say fungus!

A large number of individual and now merging spots/lesions over face ears, hair, ankles and arms. They are terribly itchy and have tried all sorts of creams etc. Gp says its scabies, have had medication for it, definately not as keeps recurring. I cannot go out, have been to a dermatologist who gave me pills which actually made me hallucinate and feel very ill?

19 years old. I have acne on my skin and small pores/holes on the cheek area which make the skin look old and bad. I wanted to know if masturbation causes acne, because I have noticed, when there is a period of weeks when i do not masturbate, my acne starts curing on its own and ones do not come. But if I masturbate, theirs a new one the very next day. Can someone please help me out on this so i can avoid it completely. And also, what should I do for the scars/pores/holes on my cheek areas in order to cure them, because that doesn't seem to heal no matter what i do. I've been putting tomatoes on my skin and that has helped me skin glow a lot, but these pores/holes/scars do not fill up.

I've had really bad hives since June, their out of control and all over my body and beyond itchy! I've tried switching laundry detergents and other stuff and it hasn't worked at all. It's so bad where I have to cancel my plans because it's all over my face and it's embarrassing. I've become depressed because of these hives I have cried so many times and the itch gets so bad sometimes that I can't even sleep at night. My doctor prescribed me some Apo-hydroxyzine first at 5 mg it worked the first week stopped, then the hives returned so went back and he upped the dosage to 10mg that worked for a week but stopped working and the hives are just really bad I feel like I'm allergic to EVERYTHING!! We don't have a dermatologist on the island unfortunately and I'm so fed up and done with this I've tried to stay positive but I just feel really down and moody.

My 10 year old daughter is in puberty, her pimples and clogged pores on her face is the evidence, lol! My concern is her eyelids have clogged pores or glands few times this year. One time leads to little irritation (itchiness), but warm compress and cold compress get it over in a couple of day. In 2014, she woke up with a swollen eyelid (eye infection on eyelid)! Is the hormone at puberty a factor as she is producing more oil? How to prevent that from happening? Should I have her use diluted baby soap to wash her eyelids daily? Or some OTC eyelid wipes? Or warm compress twice a day? She has been taking a potent omega-3 capsules the past half year, is this increasing the oil production as well? She is moderately myopic, too.

I've been having issue with my nose. some red marks sometimes, and when I touch or apply some force onto my nose, it becomes red. Every morning, my nose becomes very flaky and the skin peels off. I do use moisturizer after washing my face. It has been like this since August. But after some time when I don't do anything with my nose, it has the normal color of my skin but, it still have a bit of redness on my nose.

I had a yeast infection around my crotch 2months ago, it wasnt severe and wasnt the contagious type, happend due to antibiotic use for acne and I treated it with some natural creams and oils along with changing my diet, it's been completely gone for over 2 weeks, but a few days ago when I woke up I've noticed a tiny part of my penis head being a little rough and peely, it was very tiyn so thought it was just coming off due to not being moist or something. So I waited a few days and right now its a little bigger and the skin is rougher with peeling, if I peel it it looks a little red and sensitive below it. I have included 3 photos if it will help, it doesnt itch at all also last time I had sex it was over a year ago, I will go over to my gf due to long distance relationship in a month and I hope I can cure this before I'm over there with her. I highly doubt its an STD yet I'm very curious as to what it is.

I know it's because I masturbate a lot.
At first, it was itching/burning after I pee, now it's just very swollen, reddish in one area (very small), dry and I cannot pull the foreskin back and when I clean it with hot water and a rag, I see little flakes.
Should I just keep it clean and not worry?
I'm going to fly into the sun b4 I masturbate again.
