one week ago injured my middle finger and recieved a cut on top of my knuckle. seemed to be healing ok then out of no where yesterday it sweeled up. very painfull if moved or if i reach in my pocket. no oosing any fluid please help!

View 3 RepliesI have had this for over a week, and it seems to be getting worse. I am 33 and in very good health.
The 1st knuckle on my index finger is pretty swollen, stiff and has a fair amount of pain when I bend or touch it. I have already been to urgent care, and was told it was not infected due to no heat or redness. I was given Ibuprofen and a splint, told to follow up tomorrow if no improvement. They sugest bloodwork to test for uric acid or arthritis. he said possibly gout, but that is usually more painful. I do eat a high red meat diet, with higher purine foods- ie aspargus and beans.
I do not recall injuring it enough to cause anything like this. i do crick my knuckles- old habit I am slowly breaking- but that has never given me problems either. I have started cold compress today and occasional war, Ill see what that does.
hi new member here I have a fracture on my fifth metacarpal shaft , and is in a delayed union position , has anybody else had this for a fracture ?

On Friday I fractured 2 maybe 3 ribs in a skiing accident. I had a chest X-ray and an ultrasound. I also had a brain scan due to being knocked unconscious. Nothing came up on any of the scans other than the rib fractures. Today I've started bleeding lightly from below, like the end of a period. I haven't had a period for over a year due to being on the injection and I never get any bleeding at all. I've had a bit of stomach pain and feeling sick but that's it. Should I be concerned? Could it be related?

View 6 RepliesI had metal plates put in my wrist about 3 weeks ago and am in a removable cast. I have unbearable pain at one spot on the side of my wrist under my thumb. It's real painful when I take my cast off and even with the cast I'm only comfortable holding my hand pointing up. Gravity seems to hurt my hand and can't even put my arm in a splint because it hurts. 2 questions:
Had anyone experience this to give advice on what you did to get comfortable and how long this pain lasted?
Any advice on the best position to sleep? All positions I've tried put pressure on that side of my wrist. I tried finding a position where my thumb is pointing up, but haven't found a good position that doesn't lock my shoulder. I haven't slept in 2 weeks and really need some sleep.
First of all, I want to make clear (for a better diagnosis) that I have not had sexual intercourse with anyone, which rules out the possibility of anything caused by such.
About a week ago, I suddenly found a large lump (diameter ~1.2cm, heigh ~0.8cm) that is painful to the touch. While it pains a little when pressure is applied, it is rather painful if squeezed. It does not have any particular color; marginally reddish, but that's all. I would like to know what kind of symptom this is, and if leaving it be is the best solution (so that it can slowly fade away). While I do not remember clearly, I recall that its formation was very sudden; less than 24h, I would say.
so I had sex 2 days ago for the first time. it was more painful than it was enjoyable, but his package was rather large. we used a condom without any lubricant, and an hour after intercourse, I bled. it was more than spotting, but not the amount you would get while on your period. it's been 2 days and I'm still bleeding the same amount, and it's still aching. I checked with a mirror to see if anything thing was wrong, and right on the inside of my vagina, it's a bluish color. does that mean somethings really wrong? I don't know if I should be bleeding this long either. I'm slightly worried and don't want any crazy diseases or infections happening inside me that I don't know about.
View 1 RepliesThere is a large lump on the right underside of my penile shaft, I haven't had sex and know its not a sexual disease. It appeared all of the sudden last night when I noticed it while I was in the shower. It looked like a swollen pimple almost so i proceeded to try to pop it (probably a bad idea) there is now an indention not unlike a hair follicle has been dug out. There was a decent amount of blood that came out of the surrounding area (most likely because I scratched it while trying to "pop" whatever is causing the lump. Its been a day since that and I checked on it again shortly before writing this. There is still a lot of welling in the area and I put some topical antibiotic on it (neosporin) just now to avoid it becoming infected. I would like to know if this is something I can just ride out with the proper care, or if I need to go to a doctor.
View 1 RepliesI know there are numerous symptoms to Fibromyalgia which could be associated with other autoimmune disorders which leads to my problem. I went to the doctor last monday with a swollen ring finger at the joint. I also told him that I was exhausted a lot and getting dizzy spells daily. He tested me for lupus and RA, both coming back normal. He also had a x-ray taken of my finger which showed no fracture or injury. My finger is still swollen after 5 days of naproxen twice a day, still exhausted and still having dizzy spells daily. On top of that, my legs are now aching especially when I climb the stairs which never used to happen. The pain is bad enough that I have to stop for a bit until the pain subsides a little. I'm also starting to have hip pains as well as stiffness in many areas of my body. So, with that said, I was wondering if swelling is a common symptom of fibromyalgia and if so, any suggestions other than ice, heat and naproxen and ibuprofen??? I can't get my wedding ring off and I really don't want to cut it off (the ring, not my finger, hahaha).
View 2 RepliesMy 14 year old son was in the hospital for 3 days and they could not figure out what was wrong with him. When I took him to ER, he had been vomiting and his diarrhea had blood in it. They did a CT scan and told me he had to have surgery because he had appendicitis. Then when referred to a surgeon he told us that it wasn't his appendix that his large intestine is swollen and therefore his appendix is swollen. In the meantime my son was in so much pain the throwing up stopped however the diarrhea with blood continued. They just started him on liquids and pain medication. Then, they collected 3 stool samples to test for colitis, and different bacteria's. Everything came out negative. Then a GI doctor checked my son and reviewed all test and told us that he had food poisoning and that he would have to let it take it's course. So, after 3 days they released my son from the hospital and told me to just give him Tylenol for the pain. To make sure he drinks plenty of liquids and he has to be on a lactose free diet for two weeks. Well my son is home and he is still in pain but the diarrhea has stopped. I left the hospital frustrated because they ran so many test and could not tell me what was wrong. They just said that he will be in pain for a couple of more days because his large intestine was swollen. Can you help me or give me some follow up advice because my son still does not look well and he still gets sudden pains that come and go. Could he have Crohn's disease?

I woke up to Painful abdominal pains worse than regular period cramps and it felt like i had to Pee severely bad. Once i reached the washroom a huge blood clot had came out. Just like Fell into the toilet. I had Brown period blood after, And now that the "thing", Huge blood clot is out the cramps went away. and now my period just continued like regular. i just wanted to know if this is just a huge blood clot or a miscarriage/ threatened baby. I am sexaully active as well.
View 1 RepliesSunday evening I felt pain in my nose as if I'm getting a pimple. I work up Monday morning feeling like I got punched in the nose and my bridge was swollen and painful. I have been sneezing from allergies all week so its possible I got an infection. I was also picking on my blackheads so it could have come from anywhere. I went to the doctors office and saw a physician's assistant she suspects is cellulitis. She prescribed bactrim but I am petrified of taking any antibiotics because I am a highly allergic person. I'm allergies to most foods that I have a very limited diet so scared. I have no fever. For now I've been using saline spray rinse and neosporin outside my nose. The pain subsided about 10% after 24 hours but I still have a ton of pain. I read from forums that nasal cellulitis can lead to blood or brain infection so since I'm scared if taking antibiotics because if adverse affect I don't what to do. I'm damned if I take antibiotics I'm damned if I don't. Does here here experienced this and didn't need antibiotics?

View 1 RepliesHi! I am a 23 year old female. 3 days ago I felt irritation in my vaginal area. I looked at it and I have a swollen lump in the front area of my labia minora, like near my clitoris. It feels like it has fluid inside, and it is the same color as the skin around it. I'd say it is the size of a small marble. It is very annoying and I am getting concerned since it hasn't gone away yet. My period also started that day so I'm not sure if it has anything to do with it.
View 2 RepliesI have recently had a revision circumcision as the first time I had a circumcision due to tight foreskin done which was around 10 years ago it was quite a poor job, it looked messy and untidy and the scar on the top side of the penis below the glans was tender and painful. After years of just putting up with it I decided to get it done again. The surgeon was reassuring and said we can tidy it up and get rid of the painful scar etc. Anyway so I had the procedure done two weeks ago and I know it's early days and there is still swelling but I can see there is going to be yet another swollen ridge where the scar is on the top side of the shaft below glans. The rest of the circumference of the scar is healing fine, the underside and the sides are nearly all healed, swelling is going down and I can already see the scar will be level with the rest of the skin on my penis and there will not be tenderness or a ridge like there is on the top side.
What can I do about this? Why is it healing like this again? Do I just scar badly in that area? I put up with it for years before and often avoided sex because of it due to pain and embarrassment and I really hoped I could get it resolved but it looks like the same is happening again.
I see other photos of circumcisions and there is a smooth scar all the way around. The type of circumcision I have is quite loose so there is still excess skin on the shaft that can bunch up a bit behind the head, I don't know if this maybe causes the scar to roll up and heal thicker, whereas if the skin was pulled tight from head to base then maybe the scar would be flatter?
Im not sure what to do now, I thankfully was able to have this done on the NHS and can see them saying well that's it now there's nothing more we can do and I will be stuck with the painful scar. Has anyone experienced anything like this or has any advice? I would really appreciate it.

View 1 RepliesI am 18 and back in May I guess I "jammed" my finger. I say I guess because I really don't know WHAT exactly happened. My two dogs got into a little fit and when I was separating the two of them I don't know what I did, but I really messed up my finger. After it all happened my hand hurt REALLY REALLY bad. It also started swelling pretty much immediately. I waited a couple days and then went to the ER because I figured maybe I dislocated my finger or something. They did an X-ray and came back and said there was nothing wrong, and probably a sprain so they sent me home with an ace bandage and some ibuprofen. Fast forward to now.
The swelling in my hand has gone away after about two months of not moving it a lot and keeping it wrapped up. But each time I completely straighten (like I am stretching my hand) out, my ring finger makes a clicking noise and kind of pops up. Moving it certain ways, making a fist, putting pressure, pulling, or grasping something wrong hurts extremely bad. I can feel it move down at the base of my finger (like my last knuckle). It has caused a problem for me because it hurts with most normal things that I do. Even typing this is irritating.
So I finally went to an orthopedic and he looked at my hand and X-rays and said he isn't sure what it is and he recommends me to see a hand surgeon.
I did. I drove almost 2 hours each way to see this doctor and here's what happened in a span of 3 different visits.
He suspected trigger finger even though he said certain symptoms were odd. He gave me a cortisone injection into my left ring finger and OMG that was painful. But to be honest that pain from the swelling of the injection was about as bad as my hand felt right after it happened. But sadly that didn't help. So my doctor sent me to get an MRI. With the results of the MRI, he told me that he saw swelling in my finger and that he thinks is in the sheath but said he doesn't know what is causing that. So he told me he was stumped and should see someone who is more of a specialist and gave me a few names. None of them take my insurance.
So I decided to put all of my info out here and see if someone has had something similar happen or knows what might be going on with my finger.
I will also post below the "findings" on my MRI report.
"There is a focus of marrow edema involving the dorsal aspect at the base of proximal phalanx fourth digit and adjacent dorsal aspect head of fourth metacarpal with a focal small cortical invagination of the metacarpal which may be post traumatic in etiology from previous impaction. No discrete fracture or dislocation is appreciated at the fourth digit IP joints pr MCP joint. The flexor and extensor mechanisms and tendons appear intact. No significant sized joint effusions. No significant degenerative or arthritic bony changes are appreciated. Visualized musculature has normal signal. Subcutaneous tissues are intact."
I have just joined this forum, but been reading it for a while. I have had no surgery yet, don't even know if it will be offered, but am already suffering from many of the problems mentioned in this thread. I have a large rectocele and a large rectum. Consultant not sure what to do- proctogram inconclusive. Since I saw the consultant a couple of weeks ago, things seem to have got dramatically worse- needing more Movicol. Also tried a suppository today.Rectal pain and numbness. The consultant may examine me under anaesthetic. I also have another problem which is complicating everything- venous insufficiency- like varicose veins- have to wear compression stockings all the time and elevate my feet as much as possible. I am convinced it was caused by straining on the loo, so from what you are all saying, there is no guarantee that surgery would prevent straining.I just don't know what to do. Surgery sounds so risky, but I can't live like this. I could try Peristeen I suppose, if they thought it suitable for me. Might also try the Milk of magnesia if I can get my hands on it.
