Abrupt Withdrawals Of Stopping Inderal LA 80mg

Jun 18, 2015

I had to suddenly stop Inderal LA (propranolol) as they had stopped being made by AstraZeneca.

My Gp tried me on 3 others but they made me feel horrible.

Two weeks ago my Gp said to bite the bullet and just stop altogether.

Since then I've experienced horrible withdrawals.

My head feels like I'm drunk

I am getting funny feelings in my arms like inside shakes

When I sit or lay down my arms tingle then feel like creepy crawlies on them. Then I lose the sensation. They go numbish

My legs go all tingly then they feel heavy and numbish.

If I get up from sitting down or just walk a little around the house, I sit down and my heart is banging hard, not fast, just hard.

Can anyone relate to this after abruptly stopping a beta blocker.

I was originally put on them for aura migraines.

Oh and I have like butterflies in my tummy.

Stopping Naproxen - How Long Withdrawals Last?

I haven't been feeling too well lately so have been absent from posting it reading on these boards. I have a host of illnesses including severe osteoarthritis, mild spinal stenosis, Graves' disease (suffered and survived a mistreated thyroid storm), chronic pain, fibromyalgia, hypertension, LBBB (left bundle branch block in my left side of heart), tendinitis in my ankle, obesity, anxiety, major depressive disorder, etc. You get the drift. I also therefore take about 12 different types of medications equalling up to 24 pills a day I ingest. Oh and I also have anemia and some other female issues (i'm 52 years old)

Due to my latest complaints of severe nausea and lethargy my primary care physician advised me that he would like to see me first try to stop taking Naproxen. I currently take 500 mg twice daily. I stopped cold turkey on Tuesday night and today is friday. I am feeling awful. Please help are these withdrawal symptoms normal with even naproxen? I've been taking it for about a year and prior to that I was taking celebrex for about two years. I am not sure if I will feel better in a few more days of no more headaches and shaking and sweating and irritable bowel.

Has anyone successfully stopped naproxen and how long for withdrawals? And if anyone just decided that the risk of health issues arising from using naproxen was better than feeling pain?

I am using a host of other meds in conjunction with my pain specialist including a host of other opiates, etc.

Can someone help me? I don't know if I should just grin and bare it the worse almost over. Or should I give up and take it again. I don't want to be taking so many drugs any more. I'm feeling like they're killing me fast yet help with pain and daily living.

Cannabis :: Marijuana Abrupt Withdrawal Can Lead To Psychosis?

Our son starting using when he was 11.  We found out when he was 12.  Because he has the right to refuse treatment, he has refused - doesn't see his use as an issue.  He does have all the withdrawal issues if he doesn't use for 2 days.  We went to every drug program - no one had a recovery program for such a young user and no one would provide therapy to him unless he agreed.  He did not agree.   We took him to hospital when he had a melt down but they released him - the child mental health ward does not deal with child addictions We are at the point where we have called the police because they are the only people who can and will mandate therapy at John Howard Society - 3 whooping sessions! Next time we call he gets a criminal record at 13. I don't think jail will stop him from his addiction!!! We have gone for family counselling because as the parents of an addicted child we must have issues.  Which as with most families we do.  Still no one has even talked to my son.  In fact the social worker has advised that we do not encourage him to stop cold turkey as she has seen her caseload double with young teens developing a full blown psychosis trying to do so. We are trying as parents to deal with the emotional issues but how can we best support his physical withdrawal without causing him more harm?  Are there any medications/herbals that are safe to use to help him get over the hard parts and how do we help his withdrawal without making him psychotic? TRying everything possible

Anxiety :: Only Inderal? Terrible Tremors

I noticed tremors on my body since I was 12. But it was mild tremors that I didn't care about. But since November 2014 my tremors got worse and now I have tremors all over my body. For example, when I try to do abs my trunk starts to tremble, when I lift my legs against the gravity, they start to tremble a lot, when I try to smile my face trembles, when I'm with my friends and try to drink some tea from a tea cup my hand and my head starts to tremble, and I feel that my neck and my head will start to tremble if I move in a "No" movement, and sometimes when I am in a place with lots of people my legs starts to shake and I get very embarrassed about that and they start to shake even more. So I went to a neurologist and I showed to him the positions that I tremble and my situation, and he said that some people has more physiologic tremor than others (even though I think that I have essential tremor), and he had to give me something for the anxiety, but I tremble a lot, and when I'm cold my body trembles a lot (a lot more than normal people). He gave me Inderal 10 mg to take 3 times a day . But it's not working on controlling my anxiety. I also tried to take 20mg and it didn't work as well and I'm not having side effects too. But the problem is I get anxious because of my tremors and not the opposite . If I had no tremors, I wouldn't have a reason to be anxious.  I already went to the only 2 neurologists that I have on my city and only the second one gave me some medication. I really want this tremors to stop. I know he gave me that dosage because the anxiety makes the tremors worse but not even for the anxiety it's working. And I'm going to work out of my country with people that I don't talk and I will get very embarrassed with this tremors... So what should I do?

Blood Pressure :: Inderal To Labetalol

I'm a 64 year old male with high b/p and hypo thyroid problems. Been on Inderal 160 for 10 yrs or more along with losartan started last yr.. My b/p has been running around 190/95 in the mornings for the last several months. Dr. checked my thyroid and said it was ok and then told me to stop the Inderal cold turkey and start taking labetalol 200mg 3 times a day. Been on the labetalol for 3 days now and feel quite bad with dizziness, feeling of passing out sometimes, but haven't, headache, and tremors, along with some ear ringing. Tried calling the doctor to ask about these effects i'm having, but so far no call from him. Was wondering if this is ok to switch from the Inderal over to the labetalol the next with no weaning of the Inderal? Also my pulse was running in the 70s on the Inderal, but in the 80s and 90s on the labetalol. Should I keep taking the labetalol or switch back to the Inderal? Would that even be safe to do now? Any advise appreciated. I believe i'm going to stop the labetalol and go back on Inderal and losartan. I didn't feel near as bad as I do now.

Essential Tremor :: Inderal Not Working - Primidone?

I'm 19 Years old and I have Essential Tremor.

So, I've been taking Inderal for the last 3 months and it's not working on my tremors. Have you had any experience with Primidone and, if so, can you tell me if it worked on you?

Essential Tremor And Anxiety - Inderal / Alprazolam?

I'm 19 years old and I have ET and anxiety because of that.

I went to my second appointment with my neurologist and I told him about my tremors and my anxiety. And that the dose I was taking (10mg Inderal 3 times a day) was not working. I was feeling no side effects or improvements on my tremors and anxiety. So this time he raised the dose to 20mg 3 times a day and he said that If 60 mg per day doesn't improve my tremors It's not worth to give me a higher dose. So, I told him If he could give me some medicine to take in anxious situations. He gave me Alprazolam 0.25 mg to take only in anxious situations in a maximum of one per week, because taking it in long term can affect my mental ability.

So, let me ask you some questions:

If 60 mg of Inderal per day doesn't improve my tremors, it means that's not worth taking a higher dose?

There is something alternative to improve my tremors If Inderal can't?

There is any anti-anxiety medicine that's not too strong that could calm down my anxiety and I could take it long term? (I only need to take it in 6 months or less depending on how I'm adapting, because I'm going to work for the first time outside my country for 6 months and I will feel very anxious because of my tremors.)

Since my doctor prescribed me Alprazolam 0.25 mg in stressful situations to calm down my anxiety, can I take a higher dose, like 0.50 mg If I feel that 0.25 mg doesn't get me more relaxed?

Inderal While Coming Xanax To Control Blood Pressure

I have been taking Xanax for anxiety for about 6 yrs. I would like to get off of it. When I start to wean off of it, my blood pressure goes way up to like 178/90 and heart rate also increases. I have been on Toprol for years ..150mg in a.m. and 50 mg. in evening. Yet as I decrease the Xanax, the BP goes up and I need it to stay at a normal range of at least in the 130s or 140s, but it goes higher, I don't want a stroke.

I was wondering, since I had taken a low dose Inderal years ago for regulating my heart rate because of MVP(when Inderal was made by Wyeth), I was wondering if Inderal could be added to my taking the doses of Toprol I now take, while I decrease my Xanax more and more to be able to keep my BP stable and from going up higher while the Xanax is being depleted from my system? Xanax always kept my BP at a stable 120-140 range, while on the Toprol. But now that the Xanax is being depleted from my bloodstream, the Toprol no longer keeps the BP at a safe level. Would it be wise to ask the doctor if I could incorporate some Inderal into my medication to help Toprol keep the BP at a safe level while I am weaning off Xanax.

Overactive Thyroid - Neo-Mercazole Made Me Shaky, Inderal 40?

I have been diagnosed with an overactive Thyroid. My Dr started me on Neo-Mercazole but the medication was making me very shaky. I then went back to her and she put me onto Inderal 40. I am yet to see a specialist at the end of the month. I wanted to ask if I could take both tablets at once?

High Blood Pressure :: Switching From Inderal To Toprolol - Dosage?

I am 47 year old non-smoking Asian woman who eats healthy, exercise 3 times a week and occasional wine drinking. I take high BP medication for 16 years. Usually my BP is controlled but it gets high due to lack of sleep or before/during/after period. I have premature contractions (skip beat) sometimes. All blood work is normal, EKG, heart ultrasound, CTA, stress test has been normal. However, the last 1-2 months, I suffer new symptoms. My question is as follows:

(1) What is the approximate equivalent medication dose of Toprolol as to Inderal 10mg 2 times a day?

(2) After I switch medication from Inderal to Toprolol, I often experience palpitations or higher heart rate when I stand up or walk, especially in the morning. I also feel strange pressure feeling around my throat, upper chest and heart area sometimes. I had not had these symptoms when I was on Inderal. Could those symptom be due to Toprolol side effect? What kind of tests should I ask for?

Anxiety :: Zoloft Worst Withdrawals Ever

I could really use the support of someone who is going through SSRI withdrawal or has recently. After years of being on SSRIs my doctor is afraid Zoloft started worsening things and wants to try Lamictal. I am going through the worst withdrawals ever. Can hardly leave the house at day 5. To top it off the Lamictal is making me pretty sick. I'm obviously highly sensitive. Has anyone else had this experience?

Anxiety :: How Bad Will Be Withdrawals From 0.5 Xanax For Less Than A Month?

My doctor prescribed me to take Xanax 0,5 mg as needed for bad panic attacks.

The thing is that I've been having bad panic attacks almost every night.

My bottle consists of 30 pills and I still have a lot left.

I don't take it everyday, only when really needed. So more like every other day?

I didn't take it last night and I felt like I couldn't sleep and I feel more anxious.

Is this a Xanax withdrawal or me just being anxious? (I am nervous about an upcoming appointment)

I just wanted to know if 0.5 Xanax is enough to become dependent on it and suffer bad withdrawals like seizures or something.

I only take it once a day and it's at night only. I never abused it

Substance Abuse :: Oxycodone Withdrawals

Ok so I was taking oxycodone painkillers for about 1 1/2 years for my back issues. 10 mg pills and I was only taking anywhere from 1 to 1 and a 1/2 a day. Never exceeded that. However I started getting nervous that long term probably isn't good on my stomach. So I lowered my dosage last week to 3/4 of a pill for about 5 days then I quit last Friday.

That's where the problems started. First 40 hours I felt like I had a strange low grade current running through my arms/legs. Not painful more like annoying. Almost like I just had to twitch or move my arms. That finally wore off and now I feel absolutely terrible. NO energy, NO desire to move, headaches for 3 days straight, I just feel like rolling in a ball and dying. And to top it off I awoke last night at 2AM and couldn't fall back asleep. So my long and drawn out question is...................Is this truly all from the withdrawals? I mean I am just having a hard time believing that this stems from taking pretty much 1 lousy pill a day. I understand 1 1/2 years is a long time, but 1 pill a day?

And then of course it leads me to my next question......How long is this going to legitimately last? I have been soooo tempted to just take a pill and get the pain over with but I really need to stay off of these.

Opiate Withdrawals :: Loperamide Is The Best Remedy

Loperamide HCI is the best. It's an opiate. Just about all Anti-Diarrheal remedies over the counter have this in it. I used to suffer from opiate withdrawals when my perscription oxycodone was stolen from my locker at work. The withdrawals almost put me in the hospital. I researched the remedies in my medicine chest and came across an Anti-Diarrheal remedy with Loperamide in it; and I later discovered that this was an opiate upon thorough research----that's why it works. I took 20 of the 2mg pills and within one hour my withdrawal symptoms were completely gone. COMPLETELY gone! Since I was taking 40 mg of oxycodone I figured I'd match the dosage to the Loperamide and it worked. Nothing less than 20 pills of Loperamide did the job. I had to take at least 20----remember that----Depending on the dosage you were taking.

A lot of people have been trying this and it has helped them too. I wash the Loperamide pills down with milk to coat my stomach. I did get an upset stomach on it before, until I used milk. I'd like to also add that the Loperamide is NOT addictive either. You will not get HIGH from it so don't waste your time abusing it because nothing will make it work like that. And I don't want to read or hear about Loperamide being pulled from over the counter because someone died abusing it to try to get high.

I've been to Detox clinics in the past and nothing works like the Loperamide. Thanks to Loperamide I will never end up in Detox again. And one last thing... Loperamide kicked my opiate addiction for good. FANTASTIC! Stay away from Suboxone or Methadone because they are addictive. Oh, and if you are wondering if I'm still on the Loperamide? I'm not.

I've noticed the Loperamide (Anti-Diarrheal) products sold in Sam's and Costco for around $5 for 350 caplets. Way worth the price. I've also been told not to worry about side effects from Loperamide because you won't be on it too long and secondly, as far as it works for diarrhea, one 2mg pill works just like taking 20 pills. It won't make you anymore constipated. These prescribed pain pills that doctors give you will make you constipated too, and they contain too much Tylenol (acetaminophen) that's bad stuff. I'm glad there is something out there I can share with you that's affordable and will stop opiate withdrawals. Maybe some wizard will one day invent something that will give us that euphoric feeling back without withdrawals or side effects, but until then, get off the opiates. Good luck to you!

Antidepressants :: Withdrawals Of Xanax And Zoloft

I have been taking Xanax 2mg about 6 times a day and 100mg of Zoloft for about 5 years. I am very confused now i knew there was going to be a bad withdrawal from the Xanax so i checked myself into a detox center to withdraw from it. I have not used Xanax for about 40 days now but i keep feeling like I'm in a daze and i get those electric shocks like my body is going threw a nervous breakdown. I was reading and these sound like withdraws of Zoloft. I have not felt the same since i checked into detox. I don't know if it's the Xanax or the Zoloft that i am experiencing all these withdrawals. I am not taking any of these medications. Can someone explain what it is that I'm going threw.
