Computer Use After Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty For Raised Intraocular Pressure
Jun 29, 2015
I was diagnosed with raised i.o.p three years ago. There was slight damage to the right retina.
It was successfully lowered by SLT and there have been no further changes. I do sometimes wonder about computer use. Can this affect eye health ? If so what is the safe limit ?

My GP recently took me off of venlafaxine slow release from 150mg a day to 0 over the period of 2-3 weeks! This was done due to high blood pressure. I learnt a lot from people on here that it was done too fast, hence the severe withdrawal, so GP put me on mirtazapine 15mg! I've had a severe breakdown, depression back worse than ever, anxiety that I'd never had and self harm that I haven't done since a child, I'm now 48!
New Year's Eve, psychiatrist upped mirt to 30-45mg, yesterday psychiatrist put me back on venlafaxine 150mg and told me to also continue mirt!
On top of that, local GP has doubled my blood pressure tablets and introduced another medication to try and control the blood pressure!
First dose of venlafaxine 75mg last night had me throwing up and, sorry but watery stools!
So now I'm back to square one with 3 different lots of meds on top, shaking and dehydrated, just to name a few! I'm losing the will to fight anymore

Been on Microgestin now for almost 5 years. I have recently now just developed high blood pressure and am wanting to get off of the pill entirely. Just don't feel normal some days and think It could be the pill. Is it okay to just stop taking the b/c??

I have just come out of hospital after being treated with IV antibiotics for a Quinsy. One of the antibiotics was making me feel sick so a nice administered cyclizine through the cannula to relieve the sickness. Within seconds, my toes went numb and my head swam and I couldn't see. This progressed to the feeling that my heart was going to burst as it was beating so fast and my head felt as if it was going to pop. Everything was swimming around and I couldn't feel my arms or legs and they wouldn't respond when I tried to move them. My mouth was numb and I was slurring my words. I was terrified! My blood pressure had rocketed and my heart was racing. The panic button was hit and I was quickly given cortisone and antihistamine which began to calm things down. It was a horrible experience. I honestly felt as if I was either going to have a heart attack or a stroke. I'm only 41 and have three small sons. My vision was affected for many hours afterwards, walls billowed and flat surfaces looked as if they were covered in netting. Very disturbing.

I was on diltiazem (cartia) for several years. It eventually raised my blood sugar level and I was diagnosed with diabetes 2. My blood pressure was not going down, so they took me off diltiazem 240mg, and put me on lisinopril 5mg.
The lisinopril gave me a dry cough, so I was put on losartan 25mg. I asked why not 5 mg and my NP told me because it doesn't come in 5mg....

Been in a relationship with a bipolar disorder person ( i believe) and after a while into the relationship , she has the notion of hurting me in the situation when she is very much emotionally involved with me as in romance etc. Seems like she loses herself and starts scratching me . i kind of ignored earlier but when i wake her up kinda thing she completes looks puzzle and asks me dis she hurt me kinda thing. She also did mention lets breakup coz its gonna get worst then this but i must admit i was adamant and was sure i can find a solution for this and we can be happy together. Then came a point whereby she went through the same episode and woke to ask me did she stab me and when realized no, she went on saying this has to stop kinda thing since next she will go to suicidal mode etc. She also went on i just cant be as normal anymore to you since my mind has already shutting u down. That evening when i got in touch with her , she told me that its happening and she was somewhere alone in her office not sure what she was trying to do neither any recollection how she got there. She was infact awaken by the cleaner lady thankfully she said. She said "i love u more then my life" to me and that's the problem . The next day when i got in touch with her , she acted as though she has no recollection of what we had in between and she seems to have memory loss on all the places and events that she has been and was with me. She even started calling me by my real name instead of dear or darling how she used to. She is also doing her studies now, and i'm confused to whether to help her to recall things that we had in the past or let it be as not to distract her from her studies and help her to recollect once she is done with her studies and then seek medical help so that we can be on track again.

I am a fit, healthy 28 year old guy who has spontaneously developed severe high blood pressure, temporal pressure headaches, dizzy spells and blocked ears. The symptoms vary, with acute periods lasting a couple hours and occurring on a weekly basis. Generally an acute period is characterized by severe headaches, needing to lie down, blocked ears and extreme lethargy.
I have had CT’s and MRI’s of the brain and cervical spine, PET scans, ECHO’s, a multitude of blood tests and various other tests with no abnormalities.
I gym 4 times a week, eat healthy and work as a hairdresser, so my lifestyle is pretty healthy overall.
This condition is starting to limit my lifestyle and with two years of no answers I am putting it out there for someone to recognize or provide advice about what could potentially be going on!

I know that when you stare at a computer screen for long hours it causes your eyes to dry up, but does long computer use causes permanent dry eyes? so even if you stopped using the computer you will still have dry eyes because your eyes tear production has been permanently damaged or something?

Two days ago I noticed four pink raised marks on my back, didn't itch a lot, but when I did scratch them I got a really tender burning sharp pain. Today I've been to the Dr's, she said they were unusual and to keep eye on them. I showed my mum and she reckons it's shingles. I've got another small raised pink mark on my lower back today that I've noticed, the marks are longish about 2cm long by a cm wide and an uneven/lumpy texture but smooth to the touch. I have a headache and haven't felt well for a few days.

Iv'e been feeling head pressure and slight ear pressure for over 3 weeks now and it has been a nightmare for me. I went to the ER a couple of times and they diagnosed me with tension headaches. I do have a history of anxiety but I must say that I've never experienced such discomfort. Tylenol, Naproxen, nothing helps it go away thus far... I had CT of my brain done which came back normal as well, blood work too and that came back normal as well. I'm currently taking antibiotics because I was told that I have fluid in my ears but the antibiotics are not helping at all. I guess I'm not convinced that anxiety is causing these symptoms. Normally, during my anxiety attacks I experience heart palpitations, hot flashes and shortness of breath and it lasts only like 15 minutes or so, but this head pressure is ongoing all day nonstop. It makes me feel like I'm going to pass out but I know I'm not. Each day I wake up hoping and praying that it's gone for good but that day has not gotten here yet.

I'm 20 and have to use computer a lot and because of that I have developed few eye floaters. I can see them more during sunlight and when I looked at light colored places it seems to grow in numbers. They move as I move my eye and become stable when I concentrate on a single area. I have heard that eye floaters are not so common in youngsters but unfortunately I can see few of them.
Is there any way to get rid of them? I would prefer natural treatments over any other kind of treatments. Is there any eye drop or something which I should put in my eyes Or something which I should avoid to drink such as alcohol or anything as such.

My mother is a 54 year old woman whose life is controlled by the use of her computer. It's affecting her performance at work (I've seen it) as well as her relationship with her family. She neglects her family and many household chores are left undone or half done. Her personal hygiene has also become vile. Recently, while sitting at her computer I've noticed her falling asleep, only for a few seconds, then waking up again. This happens frequently. So, to be specific, can a cyber-relationship addiction cause narcolepsy?

I have had a referred pain in the back for many years now which is worsened by sitting on the computer.
The pain is in the left neck but when I massage the area just below the left scapula it disappears. I also find that lifting weights help. I'm guessing my muscles are in poor shape, I'm pretty lean.
Here is a diagram of the area. [URL...]
I have been to doctors, physiotherapists, chiro and masseuses. All just disregard the area and also about the weight training suggesting it has nothing to do with it. They start cracking bones and massaging other areas and I feel no better.
There must be a link! Anyone care to shed some light on this?

I have a what seems to be a rash around my bikini line. It is making my skin uneven and itchy down there. I am getting open sores down there as well. I am not sure how I got this. I haven't been sexually active in over 4 months and this just started occurring maybe for a week now. It started with just an it here and there but it has gotten so much worse. When it first started, I was putting neosporin on the rash but it just got worse. Now I am putting African Shea butter on it and it stops the itching. I really need to know what it is or at least try to treat it.

I've been taking the Enbrel injection for the past 4 weeks and this last week I have a red raised itchy rash where I inject myself. My nurse has told me that this is normal and usually around the size of a 50 pence piece but mine is a lot bigger than that! So I'm looking to see if anyone else has suffered from this and which creams can help? My nurse said an antihistamine cream will help but I want to make sure I get one that will work because it's so itchy!

Has anyone else experienced this after LASIK? I am 42 years old and had myopia. After LASIK it seems that my non-dominant eye is slightly overcorrected at +0.25 and my dominant eye is slightly undercorrected at -0.25. This seems to be opposite what would happen if you choose monovision. Thought the amounts would be different. But now I notice if I am on the computer for a bit and then look up in the distance, my dominant eye is very blurry. The non-dominant eye is fine. The blurriness usually goes away after 5-10 minutes. But my dominant eye then feels strained even after this. At the eye doctor they had me read the really small print for presbyopia and I could read it. The doctor thinks I may need computer glasses, but I am 6 weeks post surgery. He wants to hold off a bit more in case my prescription changes a little bit more.
Also my dominant eye has been extremely dry since the day of the surgery. It also watered and felt a stinging sensation the day of the surgery. It also had the red blood vessels. To this day I think I can still see where the suction ring went on in the whites of my eyes. My non-dominant eye has not given me a single problem. If both eyes were like this I would be pleased, but it has been hell with the other eye.
