(Age 18-24) Pregnancy :: Nasty Taste In My Mouth
Sep 25, 2014
I am 17 weeks this is my 2nd child my little girl is 5 years old but with her it was basically the perfect pregnancy. No morning sickness or anything. But this time around I've had this nasty taste in my mouth that won't go away unless I am eating or drinking something and then it comes right back. Have any of you experienced this and if so what did you do or take?

Approx 6 months ago I developed a nasty salty taste in my mouth which seems to emanate from my tongue, I think, I have been to the dentist, no problems there, I have been to the doctor, had blood tests to eliminate anything more sinister, bloods came back fine so what is causing this. I did read somewhere that when going through the menopause, which I am, can cause a lot of things to change in your body, could this be one of them. Also I was told that it could be a sign of not enough Zinc in my system. I would love to hear from anyone else who may have encountered this problem. It doesn't make me feel ill so I do feel a bit of a fraud but it is the most irritating sensation and at its worse it is a real stinging sensation on my tongue.

During the first trimester I couldn't stop eating, now that i'm 15 weeks in the 2nd trimester, i'm having a hard time with eating anything at all bc of the aftertaste. And now to top it all off, it seems as if my morning sickness is back after taking a 3 week vacation!

I have been taking clarithromycin for pneumonia along with amoxicillin. the worst side effect i have experienced is the chemical taste in my mouth which has taken away my appetite and makes me nauseous. the only thing that masks it for a while is brushing my teeth, but my advice to anyone using these pills is to get rid of any air fresheners and take measures such as using roll on deodorant instead of a spray as this seems to aggravate it. i have just been given yet another course of these because my pneumonia has returned but to be honest i'd rather put up with the taste than end up in hospital again!

Has anyone else experienced a sort of constant creamy taste in their mouth since taking these tablets? I have had this for about a month now and never had any problems before.
Just wondered if its the tablets or just a coincidence.

I had a filling on 4/11/15. The pain is now away but on the side of my mouth when i was given the numbing injection or where the filling is, i can taste like a chemical taste, i have brushed my teeth 4 times today and also used mouthwash twice and taste is still there! Anyone ever had this or know any suggestions what it could be? I would call the dentist but being 18.43pm they are closed.

I have been taking naproxen now for over a year and recently found that ,it's this tablet making me have profound hot sweats though the night ,that much ,that i have to change my bedding and nightwear, also i've found ,that when i wake in the morning ,i have a nasty foul salty taste in my mouth ,i will only have to carry on taking them for another 3 weeks as my specialist is putting me on methotrexate, I have also heard a lot about this tablet too ,risks to the liver and kidneys, and other things that are very scary.

I was given lansoprazole due to a suspected stomach ulcer. I started taking it but was unable to continue to take the lansoprazole as it gave me a worse pain in my stomach than I already had and also a dry throat and mouth. I have now been diagnosed with h.pylori and started with triple therapy - esomeprazole (nexium)/amoxicillin/clarithromycin. The nexium isn't causing any stomach pain but is making my throat and mouth very dry and given me a sore throat and I am also suffering from a very unpleasant metallic taste in my mouth constantly. I went to the doctors again today and was given omeprazole to take instead but now I don't want to take it because I don't feel it will make much difference. Has anyone else had these side effects from the PPI and are there any alternatives I can take to inhibit the acid enough to let the antibiotics do their job?

Easter Sunday i woke up with a strange taste in my mouth. Having had a Lamb curry the night before i thought it was this, however, as the day progressed, I found that everything I had to eat had an aftertaste of manure and made me feel sick. My throat is sore to one side and I feel generall unwell. Yes I have been to the doctor who I thought would give me antibiotics but he just said , you have a temperature, swollen glands, he could not see a throat infection and said it was a virus and I should get better within about 10 days. He sent me to have some blood tests which are due back tomorrow. I do feel generally unwell which is not like me at all.

I can eat the smallest thing and get an acid taste in my mouth. The taste can stay in my mouth for hours. Does this mean that acid is continually fluxing into my esophagus while I have the acid taste?? I never feel acid in my esophagus or throat, just this acidy taste in my mouth. I worry that acid is fluxing for so many continual hours, if that is what is happening. I had the acid taste WORSE when I was on PPIs, so it doesn't make sense that it would be nonstop acid fluxing into my mouth, but I don't know. I am not seeing a gastroenterologist until October ...

(Background: Had an ear infection over the Summer that had me taking antibiotics, nose and ear drops. Put flea powder on my cat that went up my nose and caused a metal blood taste in my mouth. I stopped drinking well water because of it. A couple of months after the ear infection seemed to go away.) My sense of taste sent me to the doctor to begin with. If I ate certain foods my body felt sweat through my veins, burning almost. So I went off sugar thinking that was it. I had my blood tested and they said I was on the border of having thyroid. I took the synthroid medicine prescribed and had a really bad reaction, so they took me off of them. I haven't had any medication for 1 month and a half, but now my taste went from sugary to bitter. Like maybe I had ate too much cheese or something. Sometimes it feels like I have a lump of cream cheese in my stomach. I am waiting to go to a specialist about my thyroid, but I have my doubts about it. I think I might have a bacteria infection throughout my body. I did notice a bump on the roof of my mouth on the right side. Is this normal? Can someone please tell me what is going on? I have always been a worry wart, but I am not tired, I have a little difficulty going to sleep, and I lost 7 pounds since June.

I have spots/spot scars on my back I have had them for years and they never seemed to go. They are visible in the pics but sorry about the lack of clarity because of the lighting but it just hard taking a pic of your back with a webcam but it captures some I think the lighting does not show the others. Here are the pics (be warned they not pretty)
http://imageshack.us/user/Terggi (I made a mistake with how many I put up there too lol)
please put a : and a / where the smiley face is there please as when I put those 2 together in the address it automatically comes up as a smiley face.
They are scattered all over my back it looks horrible Is there some sort of spot/ spot scar process that will remove or help fade these nasty looking things? and please don't recommend some oil or cream treatment crap as I tried those on spots elsewhere a couple of years back and they did nothing. And no they won't fade because I have had these on my back for 7 years now. I don't know what the hell started it it seemed to stem from a vacation in Greece. I not even sure if this is acne or just an outbreak of spots that ended up scarring somehow. I not sure where this topic should had gone by the way either I could not find acne or spots forum.

I was quite shocked when my gp recommended antibiotics for my hacking dry cough. I have the flu too. I started taking Clarithromycin yesterday morning. So far I have taken 3 tablets, so far so good! My violent cough which was totally debilitating and exhausting (non-stop) and causing me nearly to throw up has slightly improved, thanks definitely to the antibiotics I'm taking. I came here to check out other's opinions on taking this antibiotic. I don't like taking any tablets and what I read on this site nearly put me off starting the course. But luckily, I read a couple of good reviews on here so decided to bite the bullet. So far, I'm glad to have taken three tablets as already I'm starting to come back to life. Still got a fairly raging cough but have found it easier to cope and control. The only noticeable side-effects so far have been with a tummy ache, but otherwise it's all positive! If symptoms persist or side effects increase, I will come back and report!

As some of you may already know my history you will be aware that my TN has returned. I started off on 25 mg of Lyrica twice a day and I am now on 50mg twice a day.
I just started to eat my cereals when I had this nasty electric jolt, that's the only way I can explain it, I felt it right from my right lower tooth, along my lower cheek and right into my right ear. I even felt in in my lower jaw. It lasted 3 minutes and brought me to tears. It's been a long time since I had it as bad as that. It stung like hell! I was ok until I took my first mouthful of food.
I'm quite happy being on a 50mg dosage, but if this keeps up I'll have to increase to 75mg. I can't remember the full dosage, but I hope I don't have to go that far.
Did any of you find that your TN bout came on just by eating food?
